Michelle Powers is ALWAYS an automatic buy for me!! I don’t even have to think twice; if her name is on the cover, I know I’m going to love it!! But THIS book? Wow. This one is hands down one of my absolute favorites she’s ever written!!

From the very first page, I was hooked. The atmosphere is deliciously creepy, the kind of story that makes you want to keep the lights on while you’re reading. Every chapter had me sitting up in bed!!! I could feel my heart racing, and I honestly didn’t want to put it down for even a second. But unfortunately, I had to have sleep. It has all the spine-tingling, eerie, unsettling vibes that make it PERFECT for spooky season.

What I love about Michelle’s writing is that she always gives us the best twists, but she also gives us heart. You care about her characters; you feel their fear, and you’re right there with them through every twist and turn.

This is one of those books that reminds me why Michelle Powers will forever be one of my favorite authors. She never disappoints, and this story proves exactly why she’s a must-read. If you haven’t picked this up yet, you NEED to. Seriously… go grab a cozy blanket, light a fall candle, and dive in. You won’t regret it! Highly, highly recommend!!

Review of
Devil's Ridge *ARC*

Author Michelle Powers

Date of release 26/09/25

Devil's Ridge is a truly gripping and haunting paranormal thriller by Michelle.
I was drawn in from the very beginning, a fast-paced exciting spooky tale I didn't want to put down, I read it in a little over a day.

After Sadie lost her husband and children, herself surviving in a car accident, now alone and feeling like ending it all, her sister Susan persuaded her into moving in with her into a mountain cabin in Devil's Ridge for a fresh start.

Susan was unknowingly being drawn back to Devil's Ridge by a force, a place tied to their childhood Sadie can't remember ever being there, but Susan has dreams of her connection and being there as a child.

As soon as they move in strange and eerie things begin to happen, footsteps outside, scratching, knocks on the door and the trees whispering, calling. Unnerving the girls. They find carvings in stone and Susan's dreams become more vivid and more remembering.

They both had hopes of a quiet life in the cabin, but as their curiosity about the hauntings grew and they started to learn the truth of the past and what the mountain wants and demands from them, they are determined to survive and end it.

A brilliantly written book by Michelle Powers with incredible characters and settings creating a truly intense suspense-filled paranormal thriller.

Highly recommend this book.

Devil's Ridge

~Michelle Powers

Being a fan of Powers' work for a while, I truly believe she has found her niche' with Devil's Ridge. To date, I have read over 90 books. Devil's Ridge is easily in my top five, being Powers' strongest work yet. It releases on September 26, so take this as your cue to get it pre-ordered quick – but not so quick that you don't read my review and leave a comment or like! (Please and thank you :p )

Devil's Ridge is the story of sisters Susan and Sadie – the definition of “ride or die.” After Sadie endures a devastating loss, Susan is right there, refusing to let her sister go through this alone. Susan convinces Sadie that maybe a change of scenery would do them good – and allow Sadie some healing. The sisters visit their grandmother's old cabin in the mountains along Devil's Ridge – where they visited once when Susan was 6 and Sadie was 2. What starts out as a getaway, quickly dives into a nightmare. Strange knocks and sounds outside the cabin along with Susan's unsettling dreams start to unravel long-buried family secrets. The question isn't just whether this sisters will survive Devil's Ridge – but whether they can escape the darkness that has followed them since childhood.

Powers masterfully fleshes out all characters – main and supporting. Susan and Sadie feel less like fictional creations and more like people you know. You live their heartbreak, loyalty, and fierce bond as it pulses from every page. The supporting characters add depth and detail without overshadowing the main characters – each quirky, unique, and memorable in their own right.

Devil's Ridge is masterfully balanced when it comes to pacing, transitioning, atmosphere, and tension. The story is unique and rich with imagery – so vivid you don't just read about the sisters' ordeal, you live it. Equal parts psychological thriller and bone-chilling paranormal tale, Devil's Ridge grips you from the first page and doesn't let go until its final, twisted moments.

Devil's Ridge is much more than a story of grief, resilience, sacrifice and the unbreakable bonds of family. Haunting, yet heartfelt, it's a story that will stay with you long after you close the cover. Mark your calendars for it's release on September 26, 2025 and definitely get your pre-order in now – you won't want to miss this one!

I would like to thank Michelle Powers for allowing me to Alpha/Beta/ARC for Devil's Ridge. As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation, current or future, by the author or publisher for a fair and honest review.

Wow! This book had my nerves fired up. Michelle Powers weaves together grief, memory, and the paranormal into a haunting tale that really gets under your skin. The remote cabin on Devil’s Ridge feels alive, almost like a character of its own. I was totally drawn into the bond between the sisters. Michelle mastered the sibling vibe. Another thing I enjoyed in this was the multiple timeline. It helped the book flow really well. If you’re like me and don’t always get spooked by horror, this one might surprise you. Highly recommend. I will be checking out more of this author's books, as well as more paranormal reads.

What a great immersive read. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. The paranormal factor had everything. The witchy input, the suspense, the outcome, all of it was perfectly written.

The past interwoven into the present gave you the feels, the reasons, and the purpose behind everything. The ending just pushes you over the edge.

Great spooky season vibes. I'd recommend this and all of the authors books. She hasn't steered me wrong yet.

“Devil’s Ridge” by Michelle Powers is not just another paranormal thriller—it’s a story that lingers. Powers weaves together chilling suspense with raw, heartfelt emotion, creating a tale that’s as unsettling as it is deeply moving. At its core, this book explores family history, generational ties, grief, and the things that refuse to let go.
The suspense had me holding my breath, but what really stood out was the emotional depth. These are my favorite kinds of stories—the ones that pull you in so completely that you not only feel the tension but also the heartbreak and hope right alongside the characters. I connected with the characters on a personal level, and the touches Michelle drew from her own life made the story even more powerful. This isn’t just a haunting—it’s a reminder of how the past shapes us in ways we can’t always escape.
A gripping, emotional, and unforgettable read.

i really enjoyed this story. Normally I dont like paranormal stories but this one grabbed me from the beginning and had me sucked into the book. This storyline was so different. I could picture this in my mind as I was reading it. I liked the fact that it was based on real life mountains as the Great Smoky Mountains. I live in east Tennessee and love to drive through Cades Cove and visit the mountains.

When tragedy shatters Sadie's world, she seeks ryefuge with her sister Susan at a secluded cabin deep in the Appalachian wilderness. The sisters return to Devil's Ridge, a place woven into their childhood memories. But what was once simply wild and strange now feels alive with menace. At first, it's only whispers in the trees, strange symbols carved into stone, and unsettling dreams that blur into waking life. But the longer Sadie and Susan remain, the more the Ridge begins to reveal itself.. and it's hunger. Something ancient waits in the shadows, something that remembers them, and something that will not let them leave so easily.

I swear, with each book I read by Michelle, she just continues to cement herself as an auto read author! Devil's Ridge is the kind of novel that seeps into your pores, taking up residence, and refuses to leave. Michelle expertly weaves grief, memory, and supernatural dread into a story that is both intimate and terrifying. I loved how the bond between Sadie and Susan grounds the book. Their relationship is tender but strained and that emotional tension makes the supernatural elements hit so much harder. The Appalachian setting is written so vividly, it feels like the forest is alive, watching and waiting. The highlight for me was how the story balances raw human grief with the creeping horror of something ancient and hungry lurking in the woods. The line "Some things aren't haunted. They're hungry" perfectly sums up Devil's Ridge! Eerie and unforgettable, you are not going to want to miss out on this one!

Thank you so much to Michelle Powers for once again letting me ARC read another five star book! Excited to see what you come up with next!

DEVILS RIDGE by Michelle Powers

Two sisters and A mountain that takes what it wants. The past eats up the nights as both come back not realizing the danger, the kids still missing. Some just never returned!

If they did they were never quite the same. Like Susan.

The wind, trees, cabin, whispers all hold a DARK secret and rage to be HEARD and ANSWERED.

The plot is fantastically built upon curses! The family fight with all they have for survival.

The mountain people barely breathe of the terror, only shaking their heads knowing nothing is stronger than what lies beneath the forest, tangled up in offerings and hardly a bargain means much right?

Crawl into the pages living with the past and present. So many chapters had me gasping in disbelief and readers will be chilled to the bone

BY THE UNKNOWN.

Devils Ridge will take from you too. The locked doors and hiding won’t stop the Mountain voices and lingering danger as you try to get away.

NO READER you must embrace that which you fear the most.

Step into the woods and listen carefully. BUT don’t answer and do not follow!

Very intense read as you burn through the pages quick and realize you have done what I said not too. Just like me.

I listened and was guided into the Pull of the sinister.

Four and a half StARs ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ plus

Just finished Devil’s Ridge by Michelle Powers! 😱🤯😱What a ride! If you love creepy mysteries, paranormal chills, and are looking for something to help you get in the spooky season/Halloween mood, this one should be at the top of your TBR list.

This was everything I look for in a thriller: dark, tense, and impossible to step away from. Michelle’s writing is vivid, the tension builds just right, and I swear I could *feel* the place — the shadows, the secrets, the pull of the unknown. The plot twists surprised me more than once, and the paranormal elements are handled in a way that gives chills without going overboard.

What I loved most: the characters. They’re real, flawed, brave in their own way. You root for them. Some make choices that frustrate you, but that just adds depth. And the ridge isn’t just a backdrop…it’s a character in its own right, full of secrets and shadows that seep into every page. The pacing is spot on: each revelation pushes you deeper into the mystery, while the twists strike hard enough to make you rethink everything you thought you knew— Powers nails it!

Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for something dark, immersive, and just a little bit scary. This isn’t just “another ghost story”...this one is eerily unforgettable!

There's a chill in the air. A knock at the door. The wind is calling your name. You look out the window and no one's in sight. Just beyond the pines a shadow moves. It's watching. It's waiting.

Susan and Sadie escape to a cabin in the mountains of Devil's Ridge. What was supposed to be a time to rejuvenate turns into something sinister. There are deep rooted secrets surrounding what's wanting and lurking in the shadows. Susan, Sadie and you search for the truth of what is going on.

Michelle poured her heart and soul on to every page. The characters, plot, and setting are meticulously planned out. Her dedication to detail not only brings you a well structured story, she puts you right there beside Susan and Sadie. You feel, hear and see every emotion, sound, and most of all what waits in the mountains.

Devil's Ridge was more than just a paranormal thriller for me. There was a deeper message of family dynamics. One that took me on an emotional journey. It added depth not just to the story itself but to the characters.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC copy of this book and I couldn’t be more impressed.

The story follows two sisters, Sadie and Susan after they decide to want a change in their lives. Sadie had just suffered a significant loss and Susan suggested that they relocate to a cabin in the woods. After getting rid of a lot of belongings, they pack up and move to this cabin. As soon as they enter the town, things start to feel weird.

They start learning about the history of their family and this cabin. There are lots of secrets that have been kept and they’re about to find out.

I truly loved this book and I love all of Michelle’s books, she’s a great author. This one did not disappoint!

As paranormal thrillers aren't my typical type of books I just had to check this one out as I've been a fan of Powers other work and this one didnt disappoint.

Devils Ridge introduces us to sisters Susan and Sadie. Sadie whose life was altered and Susan her support system. Susan suggests a change and Sadie agrees. Y'all that agreement set the tone and from there this story had me turning pages while on the edge of my seat. The story was packed with suspense and secrets that had me wanting more. The pacing was great. The now and then of the story was written beautifully. Powers has done it again with Devil's Ridge. Definitely a great read.

Thank you Michelle Powers for the eARC. This review is that of my own.

At our house, "spooky season" kicks off in September!

Devil's Ridge was a fun read to start the season. I really enjoy Michelle's writing style and find her books so easy to read! I love being on her ARC team and diving in before the masses get a chance to experience her books.

Sisters Susan and Sadie need a change in life after a terrible loss and Susan feels a pull to relocate to the mountains. The duo soon finds out they have some sort of connection to the area. As memories start to creep back in, the sisters realize their family has been keeping secrets.

This is Michelle's first paranormal thriller and it is definitely worth checking out!

This is one spooky book! Sisters Susan and Sadie are mysteriously drawn to a remote mountain cabin. Susan remembers, Sadie does not. Strange and eerie things start to occur, opening their eyes to a part of their childhood that will no longer stay hidden. Susan's vivid and confusing dreams draw them in. A peaceful retreat in the mountains turns into anything but as more truths are revealed. The mountain has been waiting for them to return and it hasn't forgotten what it never was able to fully claim.

Such an amazing read! Michelle Powers writes like someone who’s been haunted herself, lol. Her prose in Devil’s Ridge is just eerie enough to make you glance over your shoulder, seriously creepy! The story doesn’t rely on big scares or flashy twists; instead, it builds tension slowly, through vivid descriptions and the kind of emotional weight that sticks.

The bond between sisters, Sadie and Susan feels real and raw. Their conversations aren’t overly dramatic—they’re just two sisters trying to make sense of grief, memory, and the strange things happening around them.

And the setting? It’s not just background—the ridge itself feels like a character, ancient and watchful, The Appalachian woods practically hum with secrets.

If you love stories that are quietly unsettling, Devil’s Ridge is one to check out.
