He's a resident of Grinberry Falls, Texas by way of birth. She arrived in a Mercedes, fully grown.
And if she’s not careful, this boot-wearing, stern brunch daddy—though he’d sooner drink fruit-flavored beer than actually go to brunch—might keep her in town far longer than she’d planned.
When my best friend informed me that she intended to stay in the small Texas town she'd scouted for a film location, I asked her to blink twice if she needed to be rescued.
She didn't blink, so I hit the road to meet the man and the town that stole her heart. I came, I saw, I verified her sanity—and then I hightailed it right back to civilization before I lost mine.
But thanks to the movie, this sleepy little town is having a moment, so I'm back to do a little scouting of my own. I'm in search of a prime spot for a new Sugar Lips location. My Scottsdale based lip spa is a raging success, and the timing feels right to cross a few state lines.
What I'm not scouting for is a man. So, of course, I stumble right into the strong arms of the most irritating one in Rhett Wilding.
It's true I've always had a thing for a slightly older man, and there's no denying he ticks all my boxes (no pun intended—okay, fine, I meant what I said), but he's also a founding member of the "Keep Grinberry Falls Local" committee.
I've gotten a good look at this town in the daylight more than once. Trust me when I say a little lipstick wouldn't hurt!
Looks like it's going to be Grinberry Falls vs. Glynnis Ramsey. I may lose my head and even my heart in the process, but I'll kiss Oliver the alpaca before I’ll give up this fight.
Indie Sparks lives just outside Austin, Texas where she spends her days arguing with her dog about whether or not he really needs to go outside again, and writing strong heroines whose knees go weak for cinnamon roll heroes with dirty mouths and the skills to walk the talk.
She believes steamy rom-coms are the answer. The question is irrelevant.
What a ridiculously cute book. Based in a small town, Rhett and Glynnis are the perfect match, but they're both too darn stubborn to admit it. They're spicy and adorable together, like two peas in a ridiculously dysfunctional pod. This little affair will have you rooting for them. Oliver is a fantastic character too, and by fantastic, I mean he's a four-legged scene-stealer.
“Love me out loud or get the fuck out.”
Thanks to Book Sirens for sending me an advanced copy to read and review
Mostly, because I wasn’t sold on the romance. We meet the MCs 2 years into their dynamic and it feels like the readers were robbed of very important parts of their history. To me, there is insufficient background for a reader to feel the depth of their feelings. We should witness it, experience it with the characters, but instead I feel like I’ve just been told about it - and, what’s worse, it hasn’t been backed up by the plot.
The MCs had been friends with benefits (or rather acquaintances with benefits and shared kinks) for about 2 years. During their first interactions in the book they don’t seem to even like each other (apart from having a physical reaction to each other), the „conflict” feels forced and absurd (he wants her there but he will fight her every step of the way, because he formed a committee, but also she should trust him not to sabotage her, and he’s shocked when she doesn’t).
Their communication is a form of rivalry that does not smoothly translate to a Dom-sub dynamic (even if the FMC’s is supposed to be a bratty sub) and the next thing we know the FMC reminisces just much she trusts the MMC and how many of her secrets she had shared with him because he feels so safe. Maybe later on in the book, sure, but at that point it definitely hasn’t been backed up by the plot.
Yes, he spanked her, yes, he restrained her wrists, yes, the safe words were in place, but still, for me there was no depth. Their intimacy scenes up until 65% of the book lacked details and felt rushed, there was so much potential with the type of dynamic the MCs share to show how they built the trust between them facing the FMC’s strong reservations, but I feel it wasn’t sufficiently (or even at all) explored. Again, to me it felt like we, the readers, were robbed, everything was surface level and we were just told that in fact, it’s all very deep.
Pretty quickly in the book we learn that the FMC has past trauma and issues she still struggles with. There is a scene at the beginning of the book when she meets her new contractor and tries to warn him (?) about her possible future behavior he’d have to deal with. The contractor then pleads with her (like you’d do with a child) to proactively prevent her from screaming at her future subcontractors (people she haven’t even met yet), because it could result in unnecessary delays (and nobody wants delays, right?). Well, nobody wants their new boss to scream at them at work, but apparently she has to be reminded of it beforehand, because her default mode is… being out of control and taking it out on her employees?
I don’t like when women with past trauma are portrayed as unstable and irrational, without any explanation (eg. lack of control over some parts of person’s behavior due to eg. Tourette’s syndrome). I find it disrespectful to the character, I feel there is a difference between addressing someone’s potential triggers (as I understand - the FMC can panic/snap at others when she feels she doesn’t control an outcome etc.) and portraying the successful and decisive boss FMC as an out of control, irrational woman that needs to be proactively reminded not to scream at people. Especially when later on in the book she behaves like a well adjusted and highly functioning human being, including the times when she confronts someone.
The MMC laughing at FMC and her business behind her back was unforgivable, especially with that low effort „i’m sorry” scene when he interrupted her work event and made a scene. I found it ridiculous that her friends encouraged her to take him back because „he would never do it for any other woman”. Do what? Apologize? For laughing at her business with „the guys”? Is this the bar we set for MMCs now? I found it all very disappointing - the MMC’s behavior, the FMC’s quick 180 because he said „sorry, I actually think you’re a survivor” and FMC’s friends caring more about getting them back together than making sure her freaking man respects her enough to stand up for her when she’s not there. Ugh… 2 stars.

ARC review- This is my first book by this author and this one did not disappoint. It took me a bit to understand the gaps in time between chapters sometimes but overall a cute book. loved rhett's determination for glynnis and loved glynnis and her i can take care of myself attitude until she finally let her walls down for him. can't wait for the next one!
So, this wasn’t my favorite. I liked Glynnis and Rhett together well enough, but there was zero depth to either character. We hear about how Glynnis has trust issues and she acts like an out-of-control toddler, but we never know why. Also, the Daddy dynamic is never really explored. She calls him Daddy, he likes it, the end. I just don’t think this book was very well-developed.
I received a copy of A Little Lipstick Wouldn’t Hurt from BookSirens and I am voluntarily sharing my review.
You can absolutely make me burn and liquefy at your convenience. I will sign the waiver. I will bring snacks. I will hydrate appropriately.
Because WHAT was that quiet, controlled, devastating energy?? The man doesn’t even need to raise his voice and I’m already reconsidering my life choices.
But here’s what I loved — and I mean genuinely loved beneath my feral screeching.
This book handled BDSM with **lightness**.
Not darkness. Not trauma-drenched gloom. Not “everything hurts and we must brood about it forever.”
Light.
Responsive. Playful. Connected.
It showed that kink can be about *attunement*. About reading someone. About that delicious moment of eye contact where everything softens instead of spirals. The dynamic felt grounded in choice and chemistry, not chaos. And honestly? That makes it hotter.
The author didn’t dive into full anatomical play-by-play, and I’m actually grateful for that. Instead, we got the emotional undercurrent — the subspace, the surrender, the trust humming between them. You feel the connection more than you’re given a technical manual, and that choice made the intimacy feel intentional rather than performative.
And the humour?? Unexpected and so welcome.
The banter balanced the power dynamic beautifully. It kept things human. Real. Slightly unhinged in the best way.
Speaking of unhinged.
That meltdown scene?
I felt SEEN.
The epic fly-off-the-handle moment. The standing your ground long past the point of reason. The “I will die on this hill even if I built the hill myself” energy. I have absolutely been that woman. I will absolutely be that woman again. Growth is optional.
The difference is… my man does not possess Rhett-level calibration skills. Rhett handles it with patience and control and that steady dominance that somehow doesn’t suffocate the room. Mine would just blink at me and offer snacks.
Which, to be fair, is also love. Just… less liquefying.
Overall, this was such a refreshing take on BDSM romance. It proved you can have heat without heaviness. Power without cruelty. Submission without erasing yourself. And chemistry that simmers instead of explodes purely for shock value.
Rhett can ruin my composure anytime.
But the real win? An author showing that kink can be bright, funny, connective — and still deeply, deeply hot.
This author is quickly becoming one of my go to comfort reads, and this books is a great example of why.
This follows on from the Rocky Start series, and starts a new series looking at life and love in Grinberry Falls. It follows Glynnis and Rhett as they go from a situationship with conflicting outlooks to something worth having. They make a wonderful couple, there's just enough conflict to keep things interesting but not so much that you're ever really worried. Like I said, comfort reads!
I love the small town feel of Grinberry Falls, along with the creeping expansion of the town. The impact is felt with how the characters all react - the old guard looking to maintain the status quo, the newcomers looking for more. It feels like a real place, though.
Overall, the plot is fun. You've got conflicting wants and desires - Glynnis wanting to open her new lip spa on Main Street, Rhett wanting the town to remain the same - their deepening feelings and trying to work out how to get past their situationship into something longer term. And a little bit of the past coming back to bite. It's fun, comfortable and satisfying. Oh, and with the required amount of steam!
There's another two books already pencilled in for this series, all with side characters we've already met stepping into the limelight - I love that! Can't wait for the next one!
Fun, cute, and absolutely captivating. This small town romance shows Glynnis with all her energy and spark coming to Grinberry Falls, determined to open a new location for her business right on the main street. The local committee of course does not like it, but Glynnis will not give up. And she might have another reason to keep returning... a charismatic, caring one, with serious Daddy energy. Welcome to Grinberry Falls where sparks fly, famous musicians love to stop by, and the best local resident in an attention-loving alpaca. I have to say this one really hit the spot. Sometimes we pick the right book in the right moment so that it resonates deeply with our own lives... and this book was that perfect pick for me right now. It brought the warmth and coziness of small town romance with its own drama and deep feelings. “Love me out loud or get the fuck out.” - was the signature sentence that resonated the most, though... and I am glad that for Glynnis and Rhett, despite their stubbornness and complete chaos they thrive in, the happy end found its way to them.
This was the perfect introduction to Grinberry Falls, a small town that’s clearly going through a period of change. Rhys, the male lead and a longtime local, isn’t exactly thrilled about it. He’s set in his ways and very much plays the older, rule-following character to a tee. On the surface he’s a stickler for the rules, but underneath he’s hiding a big secret—he’s in love with Glynnis. Glynnis, the younger and refreshing opposite of Rhys, has returned to town ready to make her mark. The two couldn’t be more different, yet they share a secret that the town is slowly starting to catch onto. By night, they’re far from subtle about their chemistry, letting their antics speak for themselves. By day, however, they clash constantly over business, creating a fun push-and-pull dynamic. This spicy rom-com absolutely lives up to its description, forcing both characters to confront their flaws and recognize what’s right in front of them. It’s a fun story set in a lively small town where plenty is happening, making it the perfect introduction to Grinberry Falls.
This book is the perfect introduction to the series and the town of Grinberry Falls. Smutty rom com at its best! is the best description for this story.
IT all starts as GLynnis a successful entrepeneur and businesswoman comes to the small town to visit her friend, and also to have fun with her friend with benefits, Rhett. The smut is on point, and the conversations after are heartfelt. BUt when she looks at expand her business setting sights in the small town of Grinberry Falls, it is Rhett who disapproves her proposition. He is a strict business board member, and doesn't want outside influence in a town reserved to locals. Though they battle in the board meetings, behind close doors they are anything but arguing. So, the fight is not just about the space but breaching the distance between friends with benefits and falling in love,
A great read, with a great cast and setting! You will laugh, you will swoon, and you will want more books!.

We were introduced to Glynnis and Rhett in Chased Shot. They had a instant connection and while we didn't get much from them in that book, you could tell that they liked each other.
Glynnis is a business woman that knows what she wants and goes after it.
Rhett is headstrong on keeping his small town small and for the locals when it comes to opening up businesses.
What Rhett wasn't expecting was for Glynnis to come in like a Twister and find a loophole to open up her very own store on Main Street. Despite them having a thing that doesn't stop Rhett from trying to talk her out of it or find ways around it.
Glynnis has always had a thing for older men, and Rhett fits every box on her list, but what started off as a fling starts to grow and Glynnis doesn't know what to do with it, until she overhears Rhett and everything changes.
This book was an amazing spicy read, one that I can't wait to read again. There will be more books for Grinberry Falls and I can't wait to read all of them.
Glynnis has a successful business un lipstick called Sugar Lips. Its doing well. So well she plans to expand her location to a 4th spot in Grinberry Falls. But Rhett part of the city council isnt too happy that an outsider business is making its way to his small town. Rhett doesnt hate Glynnis in fact things between them get hot and steamy. Have since they've known each other. Rhett issue is he want things in his town to stay local. But it could change. So could the situation with him and Glynnis
I had the chance to arc read this and im so happy I did. new author to me. It was a good.read. was hard to put down.
Rhett is tough but also a sweetheart. Has such a soft spot for Glynnis.
Glynnis is a powerful strong business woman.
Im not much into the whole "daddy" vibes but in this story it fit perfectly it wasnt a DD/LG type more like playful banter. Which he likes.
The ending was perfect!

This small town and its quirky residents have grown on me and I’m definitely feeling at home now in Grinberry Falls! I have been looking forward to Glynnis and Rhett’s story and it really was worth the wait!
Their chemistry is explosive and I love all of the witty banter between them! They have the perfect blend of sweet and spice. I’m also a big fan of strong, independent FMCs and Glynnis fits this to a T. She already owns several lip spas and at the start of the book she’s in town to buy a house to open up another location. Rhett and Glynnis complement each other very well and I was happy to see that by the end of the book they found a way to make things work for them.
All of the characters in this town are a hoot, especially Oliver the alpaca. Everyone is very close and always there for each other which I feel really adds to the story. I was really excited to see that Joni is getting her story next!
We love a vulnerable king! I loved this story by Indie Sparks. Glynnis and Rhett have found themselves in a situationship even since they met. It was instant attraction between these two! And for the past 2 years, they get together whenever Glynnis is visiting her friend. She's also dead set on opening a shop up on Main Street. Rhett on the other hand is the founder of a group trying to ensure shop owners on Main Street are local residents only. Even though sparks fly whenever they're together, both are hardheaded and have some issues in their past that makes it hard to open up, but they find they can with each other. I absolutely love that Rhett is a communicator who is the first to drop the L bomb, and continues to chase after Glynnis, even after their misunderstanding and 3rd act breakup. They do get their HEA and all the sweetness along with it.
This was a fun and quickish read. City girl meets small-town guy.
The main characters, Glynnis and Rhett are already in a friends with benefits relationship, but neither one will admit that they want more. Both appeared in Chased Shot (Mav and Sabrina's best friends).
Glynnis is a total independent business woman who is determined to open her new shop in Grinberry Falls, while Rhett is a protective local who is totally against outside businesses moving into his town.
I love the banter in this book, Indie Sparks writes it so well. It’s snappy and so much fun!
Super steamy but also underlying sweet, and it’s refreshing to see a male character who is good at communicating his feelings. Oliver is back!
There is a "third act breakup" caused by a misunderstanding but it doesn't last for long.
Completely a sucker for a good steamy small town romance and this one hands down delivered it all & then some!!
I absolutely love this little town of Grinberry Falls and all its townsfolk and we finally get Glynnis & Rhett's unexpected love story!! We have previously gotten glimpses of them but this time we get to see how these two finally admit it's more than the occasional hookup.
These two seem like opposites at first but the more they open up it's clear they are more alike than they realize. Yes they are both stubborn and hard headed at times and will make you frustrated but that's just the way this author edges her readers lol. She needs you to feel all those emotional moments. These two have a few ups and downs leading to a HEA that helps setup the next couple coming.
What you can expect here is a slight age gap, nicknames, emotional growth, spicy moments, dirty talking townie mmc, feisty city girl boss babe fmc, small town vibes, fun secondary characters, and a HEA.
A must read for any reader who loves a good steamy small town romance with unique and fun characters. Highly recommend this one!!
If you are an Indie Sparks fan, you may have already visited Grinberry Falls in a previous story which centred around Mav and Sabrina. We return for Glynnis and Rhetts story who are their friends and we also met them previously. I liked the characters although I took to Rhett more than Glynnis, I didn't dislike her character I just didn't gel with her as much as I did with Rhett. It's a very good small town romance with lots of steaminess, some humour and strong friendship vibes between characters. Then we come to what is popularly termed the 3rd act breakup. I think it did need something like this to happen to push them into that happy ending but I think Glynnis totally overreacted on it! I don't think it was break up material at all but I suppose that's the nature of her character. There are apparently more books coming in this series, so will I read them? 100% yes!

I love the small town feel of Grinberry Falls, along with the creeping expansion of the town. The impact is felt with how the characters all react - the old guard looking to maintain the status quo, the newcomers looking for more. It feels like a real nice town.
I absolutely love that Rhett is is the first to drop the L bomb, and continues to chase after Glynnis, even after their misunderstanding and 3rd act breakup.
Love the banter in this book, Indie Sparks writes it so well. It’s snappy and so much fun!
My only complaint is the FMC calling the MMC “Daddy” during the shmexy scenes. It made me cringe every time. I came close to dnf’ing the book solely for that.
A great small town, age gap, contemporary romance with the usual fun and flirty style I know and love from this author. This is the start of a new series based in Grinberry Falls, a location we visited as part of a previous series that thankfully now has it’s own series as the location is small town adorable and the cast of characters are going to be fun to see them develop. This book focuses on Rhett the stereotypical small town older man who runs the recording studio in town and Glynnis the younger blonde bombshell who runs a chain of lip salons and blazes into town turning his life upside down. Plenty of chaos to be had, plenty of bumps in the road and plenty of spice of course all wrapped up in a HEA bow.
Indie Sparks new series, Grinberry Falls, starts with a bang. Rhett and Glynnis have been circling each other for a while now and tha payoff was worth it.
Sparks draws you into the story immediately and writes such fun, charming characters. Rhett and Glynnis were so much fun and the town and its residents gave the story even more color.
And I was thrilled to see my favorite side character, Oliver, show up. I love the men of the world Sparks has created, but I think I’d choose Oliver over them all. :)
If you’re looking for a charming, slightly wacky, love story that will keep you turning pages, I definitely recommend visiting Grinberry Falls.

This is my first book by Indie Sparks and I throughly enjoyed the story. It is a fun story that completely drew me in. It has amazing characters with personalities to match. I loved how Glynnis and Rhett have this connection that is smooth and seamless even when they angry at each other. They fantastic chemistry that is felt throughout the story. The story is extremely well written and developed l it drew me in and kept me glued to it as we see Glynnis trying to navigate opening a new location for her lip spa chain. The definitely has humor and a bit of a mystery involved that just adds to the element of the story. It is a fantastic read that doesn’t disappoint.
This was a really pleasing read. I loved the quirky characters and how their personalities brought the story to life. It was refreshing that the story began well into their relationship, which gave the romance a different and interesting perspective.
The characters felt genuine and engaging, and it was easy to become invested in their journey together. I was so happy to see them get their well-deserved happy ever after.
An enjoyable and heartwarming story that I’d definitely recommend to romance readers.

This is Glynnis & Rhett's story in Grinberry Falls. He's a small town guy, member of the keeping things local group, she's a city glamour girl. When they get together there's fireworks and sparks, and everything in between. When Glynnis wants to open her lip spa in Grinberry Falls, the committee is dead set against it, but the fight just makes her more keen to win and throw in the chemistry between her and Rhett and there's no looking back. I love the humour and wit in this story that had me laughing out loud at their antics. I loved how Rhett and Glynnis were able to sort out their differences and really make a go of things. A fun, humourous read with a perfect amount of spice thrown in!
I really liked this book! Definitely could have finished it in one day if I didn’t start it so late at night. I didn’t want to put it down!
The banter between Glynnis & Rhett right from the start held my interest. I loved that they already had casual history to start the book so the spice seemed appropriate to start early on.
This is a really great feel-good romance book with a sweet HEA. Looking forward to reading the rest of this series when they become available!
*I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Glynnis and Rhett have a wonderful banter and chemistry! I was totally ready for their story, and absolutely adored it. Instant attraction, friends with benefits turn into a relationship, and slight age gap in a small town all came together and made a story I could not put down. The town of Grinberry Falls is so cute, and I love the people in it, and the small town vibes. Plus the cameo from Oliver had me cracking up. This story was so sweet, plenty steamy, and had all the small town romance perks. Cannot wait to see what comes next!
I really like small town romances. And this book didn't disappoint. This is Glynnis and Rhett's story. She wants to open a 4th location of her business Sugar Lips on Main St in Grinberry Falls. Rhett is part of the city council and doesn't want the business there. This gives you all the feels. You will laugh and cry. And many other emotions. Does she get her business in Grinberry Falls or does he stop her from doing it? Do they walk away after their hook ups or do they get their happily ever after? Read this to find out the answers and so much more. You won't regret it
Amazing read - back to Grinberry Falls and already known characters. It was so funny and cute, steamy and emotional- you are immediately involved in chaotic and emotional story of Rhett and Glynnis, his Twister. And it is not just about bringing Sugar Lips to Main Street. And not only about keeping things as they are - because why ruin a good thing? Engaging read that keeps you busy until it’s finished. Give me more. Can’t wait for the new book.

The book starts with Glynnis and Rhett, who are already seeing each other when they are in the same place. At the start of the book, Glynnis has decided to open her lip spa, Sweet Lips, in his small town of Grinberry Falls, Texas. Rhett is on the town’s committee to keep the main street local, so there is a little tension between them. This is a spicy, small-town romance with fun characters trying to see if this relationship can last and whether they want it. I received this ARC from the author and will definitely read more of her work.
