"This is but a herald of the trials that await."

Deep inside the Bone Men cult, Penny and Kit have passed the point of turning back. If they want to survive, they have to make it through the remaining six Oaths of initiation, each one more twisted than the last.
Kit works quietly, piecing together a plan to bring the cult down from the inside, but nothing about it is simple. Not with Penny’s brother watching their every move, doing everything he can to make sure they fail.

With danger now lurking around every corner, Penny can’t help but wonder if finishing what they started is worth the cost. If they keep going, they might not make it out whole.

They may not make it out at all.

I received this book as a free e-arc and all my opinions are my own :)

Kit Mosel, man that you are (sweet, kind, wonderful)

To say that I enjoyed Solemn Vows as much, if not more than, First Oaths would probably be an understatement. I just love how rich the world-building in this is and how the world expands in the second Oath. I also *love* how realistic the characters are.

Penny and Kit change through the events of the first two. Penny couldn't stay all sunshine and happiness after witnessing the horrors of the Bone Men, and I'm extremely glad that that side of his personality was explored! Likewise, I loved Kit becoming the sweet man he likely always was. Seeing his trust and love for Penny grow with every chapter was breathtaking. They're not perfect, and of course, their own need to protect each other causes them to butt heads, but I appreciated how it never led to any drawn-out miscommunication storylines.

And while I'm not sure if this is an intentional thing or not, I very much adored a little "want vs need" arc coming 👀 full circle!

I’m not even sure how to begin describing this book - but I’ll endeavor to do it justice!

Anguish, profound love, faith and hope in creating something better than the torturous, mangled destruction that’s been.

Kit and Penny both come with their burdens, and instead of it continuing to hollow them out with guilt and shame, they share it with one another and become more sturdy because of it.

We burrow deeper into affection with some of the cast from the last book - and deeper into loathing for others, and the stakes of the Oaths, as promised, get higher and higher. But… we might also be finding some progress in dismantling its horrors, and maybe from unexpected places.

Make no mistake, this book gutted me over and over 🥴 but it’s also so damnably sweet, that I sign up to continue being flayed anyway.

I requested an ARC for this book, as I loved getting to read the first book so much. And I promptly ripped through it, having to stay awake past my bedtime to keep reading and find out if I’d be able to exhale anytime soon!

Both books so far are absolutely brilliant - can’t wait to keep reading as the journey continues!

Solemn Vows (The Bone Men, Book 2)
Authors: C.J. Tuma & Quinn Cameron

Wow—what a ride! This book is an absolute page-turner. The plot is gripping, with a perfect mix of mystery and emotion. If you love slow burn romance with very low spice, this is for you.

Themes of found family, love inside a cult, bone digging, and a conspiracy against evil make this story unforgettable.

Kit and Penn? They are perfect together. Their chemistry and growth kept me hooked from start to finish. I couldn’t put it down—I had to know what would happen next and whether they’d make it out safe. I’m desperately hoping for an HEA, but honestly, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Counting down the days until Book 3 in June 2026. OMG, I need it now!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Highly recommend!)

I am absolutely obsessed with this series. I love seeing the relationship between Kit and Penny grow, there are misunderstandings, jealousy and fights that all have to be talked out to help them grow together as a couple. It's so realistic to see Penny being so insecure and a tad immature in such a new relationship. Kit is rough around the edges, but always has Penny's best interest at heart.

I can't get over how well their progression was written, they are such an amazing couple and seeing them talk through problems and realize their love for each other in such a terrible place is beautiful. This book made me cry so many times.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of this book!

loved so much pain and angst and I cried a few times but I loved it. I was worried as I always expect someone to die so I was very on guard. But it was so good. I can’t wait for the next
