Brimming with hope, echoes of dark pain, and blooming love, this romance between two broken souls was absolutely beautiful. Mindybalways focuses on character development so well and our duo here didn't disappoint!
Riot is a Rockstar bad boy drowning himself in alcohol and cigarettes to numb the pain of loss and guilt as well as a career that's beginning to wain due to his excess. As penitence, he's giving lessons free of charge as community service back in a town that unfortunately filled with the painful memories.

Here we meet talented pianist Eloise, a 21 year old who's been almost a forced shut-in by her manager/godfather. She longs to live and be free in a different way through learning guitar and our duo meets this way.

They each hide pain. Riot feels he's older (31), jaded, worn down by life and wouldn't be good for her, despite his very kind heart and intentions. This man is so incredibly sweet from the beginning. He is so unselfish with her, wanting to lift her up.

Eloise loves the uninhibited energy that Riot shows with her. His fire begins to burn brighter with her, his muse. The healing journey is natural, dramatic, a little angsty, and also filled with moments of tender light hearted moments of human connection.

A rockstar story with an original flair that I found refreshing and especially appreciated the slow burn and some real emotional depth. Another Mindy Paige winner! I also really love Enzo, our supportive silver fox big brother type with scars and Forest, our quiet, big bear with a blind eye and mysterious air about him.

I received a copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review. All opinions are my own.

Riot should want nothing to do with not only is his student a decade younger than him, but she’s also a famous pianist with a sparkling reputation—something Riot will tarnish if he gets too close.

I enjoyed this book; I really loved Riot and Eloise. They are both beautifully written characters; the way they move through the world and the way their grief is written is just perfect. The way Mindy writes about how grief can sneak up on these characters hits so close to home, and the way Riot and Eloise can heal together and get their sparks back is just perfect. These two make perfect sense together, and I adore them; they work so well together. This book had me feeling all the emotions. It was just so great to read. I mean, I will always be obsessed with a rockstar, especially a rockstar like Riot. The way they both see and understand each other, even from their first meeting, is just so sweet. I also really love the side characters we are introduced to in this book. They really add to this world, and I really hope they get their own books because god do I want more of them (cough cough Forest and Enzo).

Be still my heart...

Amplified Hearts Book 1

Angsty hearts rejoice. This was a make your heart ache in the best of ways type of book. I loved it! It's such a beautiful, emotional, heartwarming story that just made me melt.

The pining, the build-up, and the anticipation were all so delicious. I couldn't get enough.
Riot, sweet Riot he is such a goner for Eloise, it is so swoony.
This guy is absolutely, twitterpated, completely dumbfounded, utterly thunderstruck when he sees and meets her for the first time, not to mention the first time he sees her play the piano. *Swoon*

Riot and Eloise have the best flirty banter, I was smiling and giggling like a loon. I loved how their relationship developed.

“We don’t get to choose the scars that we carry. And sometimes, we react to situations differently than others because of them. But that doesn’t make it silly. It just means you survived your wounds, and you’re doing the best you can to live in spite of them.”

Thank you Mindy Paige for the opportunity to read this beautiful story.

I stumbled upon this book when a mutual reviewed it on IG, and let me tell you, I enjoyed this one SO much! This was everything that I was looking for - full of angst, heartbreaking moments, loving times, and everything in between. Riot and Eloise were imperfectly perfect and I just loved them so much.

To avoid jail time, Riot is sentenced to community service giving guitar lessons back in the one place he never wanted to visit again. The place where he lost his family and any sense of happiness. Through these guitar lessons, he meets the shy and eager Eloise. She instantly becomes his everything.

But her life isn't all hearts and roses, and there is something holding her back. Secrets and guardrails put up to block her from having any sort of happiness in her life.

Riot brings out the light in her life, while she does exactly the same for him. These two are as tragic as you can get, but together, they prove their love is undeniable. This book was so flipping good and I can't wait to read more from Mindy!

Oh man do I love Mindy’s writing. It’s fun, fast paced and always grips your heart making you read as fast as you can. I love this one because Riot is so imperfect. He struggles so hard to find his way back from the darkness and meets many barriers. Drugs and alcohol abuse are very prevalent in this book so be sure to read those triggers. But I think Mindy touches so beautifully on a difficult subject. There’s no shying away from the darkness and tragedy that comes with addiction. She touched on darkness of the spotlight. I loved how Riot recognized that deep sadness and loneliness in Eloise without even meeting her. Trust me Eloise will break your heart with her struggles as well. These two were electric and the way they healed each other will make you tear up! The spice was perfect and Riot is a fiend in the most delicious way. Like most of Mindy’s books you’ll get a HEA and only be sad because the story ended!!

Mindy Paige has done it again! This time with a rockstar/pianist romance that is a super spicy slow burn.

Riot is a mess. He has been using alcohol as a crutch for years, has ruined his career, and finds himself doing court ordered community service back in his hometown because of his reckless behavior.

Eloise is a famous pianist who brings in sold out crowds, but it doesn’t bring joy or happiness to her life. She is forced to perform by her manager, who has been her guardian since the tragic death of her parents.

When their paths cross and they start spending time together, it is clear that they belong together. However, they both have deep, dark secrets from their past threatening their chances of being together.

This book talks about grief, addiction, abuse, and other dark themes. Check the menu….I mean, trigger warnings before diving in.

SOUND AND SILENCE — Mindy Paige
Releasing December 4, 2025

“Sound and Silence” follows Riot Arden, a former rockstar forced back to his quiet beachside hometown after narrowly avoiding prison time. His plan to lay low is shattered when Eloise Marquette — a world-renowned pianist with bright pink hair and a heartbreaking past — asks him for guitar lessons.

Their chemistry is instant, forbidden, and impossible to ignore.

This book consumed me. The emotional depth, the banter, the tension, the tragic backstories — everything is crafted with intention and heart. Riot is hilarious and heartbreaking all at once, and Eloise’s vulnerability made me root for her from page one.

What to expect:
• Rockstar x Pianist
• Age Gap
• Forbidden Love
• Guitar Teacher x Student
• Small Town Beach Setting
• Trauma Bonding
• Dual POV

A deeply emotional romance that lingers long after the final chapter. Highly recommended.

OKAY BYE IM IN LOVE!!!!! I absolutely devoured this story.

This story follows our bad boy Riot and good girl Eloise. One event leads to another and this bad boy rockstar is now doing community service back in a small beach town that brings up some not so great memories. Little did he know Eloise was going to stumble into this music studio for guitar lessons. Eloise is an extremely talented pianist who has been under the watchful eye of her manager/godfather. She wants freedom and Riot wants to be the one who helps her gain it.

Their love story is forbidden, but that does not stop Riot's obsession with Eloise. The two help each other through some dark memories and times. They both uplift each other and reading about their dynamic growing throughout the story was perfection. This book may be under 300 pages, but it is so well paced and back with emotion, banter, and spice.

Even days later, I am still thinking about this book!

Oh, Riot & Eloise! My heart hurt for them, but also soared. They're so adorable & sweet & spicy together! This is a slow burn, so the 🌶🔥🌶🔥 shows up later, but when it arrives... grab a fan! 😊 Also, the spice might be slow, but the chemistry is there from their first meeting. Whew!

I love the way they open up to each other, and how they connect even before truths are shared. They're healing each other, making the other stronger with each interaction. Riot's heart - it's been bruised & he's made some not-so-great decisions in his life. But his heart! It's so full of love... I just really went quite swoony along with Eloise. 😁 And Eloise! She's had to wear a mask for so long, it's hard for her to let Riot see underneath it. Still, she can't help but trust him.

Ah. I think you're really gonna enjoy this story!

I'm so happy I read this gem of a book!!! When two broken souls find each other and heal together, it can only make for an epic love story. Their chemistry, their passion for each other is incandescent, transcendent. Wow, just wow! It's so well-written, the words flow so beautifully. Riot is so endearing. A little unhinged, but he has a heart of gold, pure and sincere. And the beautiful Eloise, my heart broke the more we learned about what she was going through. I cried more than once! That's how invested I was in the story! The more the story progressed, the more I wondered how she would get out of her situation; my heart ached in my chest. I'm so glad I discovered Mindy Paige with this gem of a book, and I will definitely read her other works!

🎵BETA REVIEW🎵

“You can have my soul if you’d make that noise again.“

“So, Eloise, tell me… Do you want to go a little mad with me?”

“One look, and she can bring me to my knees. One word, and I’m putty in her hands. One touch… I’ll never get her out of my system.“

This read held me by the throat and did not let go until the final epilogue. I fell so in love with these characters and this world. The way Mindy writes is an absolute experience. You will feel allllll the emotions. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend. You need this. Everyone needs this.

i got an arc for this book and it's safe to say it's the best of the month. this has everything from badboy goodgirl trope and tragic backstories to spiciest tension and rollercoaster of emotions in between. i loved riot and eloise so much, they are so well written and their backstory is so sad. i wanted to give them tight hug. seeing them have each other and be their best selves was so sweet. riot is so patient and understanding and always uplifting her and the way eloise supports him, sees through all the bad persona is just so sweet. they deserve each other. the nickname he had for her was so adorable. i loved seeing the balance between their sweet moments and spice and the buildup they had to reach there. i loved watching eloise finally free from dave and choosing what's best for her. also forest was so so sweet, i knew he was a good guy and of course enzo and his love for riot and the support he showed for them. i want more and more from this world.

I was first introduced to Mindy Paige from two to people’s post, one was Author Rochelle Paige and second was Nikki (nikstagrambooks) a let me tell you I am so glad that I saw their post because Mindy Paige excuse me ! I am going to need more!
Sound and Silence did took me a minute because I had to take a minute to get myself together. When I tell you this book will get you in your emotions, it will have you in them like a chokehold. This book was written perfectly and had me crying because of certain moments and made me feel a way that I that I had pushed down for so long.

I love the characters except for a few made me want to jump in the book and punch them in the face like seriously.

Riot my man phew I felt his presence in so many ways and felt his pain.
Let’s not forget Eloise I truly felt for her and what she went through but absolutely happy that she found her way.

Another great read to add to the TBR.

There is mutual pining, age gap, spicy spice and some dirty talk, and can't forget the tragic backstory of BOTH the main characters!

Mindy has artfully weaved a delicious world between Riot Arden and Eloise Marquette, where they've both seen their fair share of fame and fortune.

The banter in this is top notch and Riot's sense of humour had me cackling, the sheer number of names he can think of something with a wide head had me in tears.

Mindy has also perfected the craft of tragic backstories to the point of utter devastation. It utterly rips your heart out for these characters.

Move over Ghost, Riot's my new favourite MMC now!

I loved these two together, their chemistry was great throughout the book. I’m a sucker for romances where the guy falls first and falls hard, and this one definitely delivered. I did feel like the MMC came on a little too strong at times, though. I also wish the FMC’s main storyline had been resolved earlier; it wrapped up too quickly, and I would’ve loved to see more of her thriving on her own.

A new to me author, rockstar and angst, all good things for a new book. I was hooked on the good girl/bad boy, the backstories, the writing of Eloise and Riot, and it is a series starter, so I get more!

Two broken souls, a slow burn, a forbidden love, all the emotions, healing, these two complete each other.

A read that ended too soon, a story that is still with me days later.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Who doesn’t love a bad boy rockstar? Riot and Eloise were pure magic!!! Messy, tender, forbidden, and completely addictive.

Sound and Silence wrapped heartache and hope together in the prettiest way. An absolute MUST read if you love stories that make your heart melt and ache at the same time.

A emotional ride

Check your warnings. Mindy always does an amazing job and this book is not different. Her character and world-building are top notch. The way Riot and Eloise come together and heal is absolutely magical. Riot lost his way and Eloise is miserable. But together they make beautiful music.

This is a sloww burn rockstar romance, with emotional depth. It took me a minute to write it and then it didn’t save!
This book had me in its grasps! I couldn’t put this down and I’m a wreck!
Eloise longs to be free and play the guitar but her controlling manager/godfather doesn’t like to give her much freedom. Through him she meets Riot who is older, kind and has a good heart but feels he’s no good for her. They both are hiding from their pain both with baggage of their own. He recognizes the loneliness in Eloise, a kindred spirit. His fire burns brighter with Eloise and she sorta becomes his muse. Their chemistry was electric, I loved the healing journey, the angst, I just love how Riot wants to always lift her spirits up and so unselfish with her.
This book is an emotional ride I’d 100 recommend!

Eloise and Riot are both musicians who have lost loved ones and have a rough past (& present), Eloise starts getting guitar lessons from Riot but there's a lot she's hiding from him because he can see the sadness in her eyes. She's in a tough situation that seems hopeless for her 💔

This was such a sweet and heartbreaking story 🥺 I loved that they had music as a common love and the protectiveness of Riot of Eloise. The banter between these two was *chefs kiss* 🤌

the trust between the two, the chemistry, and the vulnerability between the two. Eloise gaining more and more confidence throughout the book was so energizing, I was screaming for her!
