Flight of the Chicxulub thrusts readers into the smog-choked skies of Xochipili, a prison planet built on the bones of exile and revolution. Here, mech-augmented smuggler Ryu Ruiz claws through shadows of betrayal, addiction, and political unrest. When an alien hallucinogen called Starflesh threatens to unravel both his mind and body, Ryu is forced to choose between survival and uprising.
Blending raw poetic prose with Aztec symbolism and the industrial grit of cyberpunk, Chris Flakus crafts a visionary tale where love, loss, and rebellion collide. As revolution brews and the boundaries between flesh and spirit blur, Flight of the Chicxulub becomes a high-octane journey through the soul of a dying world, and the hope that still sparks in its ashes.
Perfect for fans of Dune, Neuromancer, and The Broken Earth Trilogy, this novella redefines the edge of Latin American speculative fiction with both ferocity and grace.
Loved the atmosphere and the themes discussed during the feature. The guide he provided made the whole experience richer. Planning to purchase my copy, can’t wait to dive in.
I didn’t expect to connect with this story so quickly. The imagery and emotional threads the author talked about stayed with me after the event. Definitely worth exploring.
Lol, I am not leaving myself five stars omg that's onanstic even by a writer's standards (don't think I didn't notice you all wince along with me. Hell, it's ok, we all...google ourselves from time to time). I just wanted to say thank you, y que tambien hay version en espanol disponible en Amazon, I just wanted to thank all future readers and reviewers. Love it or hate it, it's always going to be an honor to have had your time and consideration. I'm a Science Fiction writer. Not "Slipstream, Horror, Weird Fiction, or the many subgenres. NOT fantasy, though I used to love it I just kind of moved on. I've got "Gardens of the Moon," which I hear is amazing. Need to give new fantasy writers another shot! But although I have written and published in both English and Spanish and began as a literary realist writer, a budding beatnik who discovered that in the end, the whole scene seemed like it was a great kick but ONE writer remained throughout my life and shall, and that's William Seward Burroughs. Although I used the dedicatory for my wife and to make an important point, these novellas (first in a quartet of novellas).
For fans of books like Gibson's Sprawl series, Schismatrix, Involution Ocean, A Scanner Darkly, and especially William S Burroughs, Ballard, and Bolano, I really think this book is worth giving a shot. In all this madness, I find it only right that we (I proudly say SF writer because we're looked down upon until we make enough money, they still call us "the golden ghetto" but, look at how we've failed? Only 16% of America reads for pleasure. That's on us. The numbers are increasing and some of the data I've seen shows that young readers, teens to mid-twenties, are the largest growing group. I believe that the power of story, not rhetoric, narrative, or propaganda--STORY--is what (potentially, once upon a time) have made this country great. It never has been, not in any positive sense. So, join the revolution. Buy some dissident literature right from daddy Warbux Bezos ;) I hope I didn't sell my soul for nothin'
