this is a well-intentioned book - seemingly aiming to be the guide on skin, the way Why We Sleep became the guide to sleep or Chasing the Sun explained light exposure. however, it has neither the deep-dive into research the way Why We Sleep does, nor the storytelling that Chasing the Sun presents.
it felt more like a visit to a doctor, with a rundown through common conditions and tips for management or prevention. there was a lot of information - but most of it felt rather superficial and I struggled to read through it, although I am genuinely fascinated by the topic.
to be fair, this could be just my preference for format and content. but in the age of Wikipedia, AI, and Google Scholar, this book seems to add little on top.
