Do we really need another book about the soaps? You bet we do and hope they will keep on coming! Super Soap Scenes does not concentrate on one soap like some recent books but highlights "the greatest " scenes from many different serials, past and present. "Greatest" is in the eye of the beholder but I agreed with most included. Each entry is written by the author or an expert in the soap opera genre and are grouped by category. Many include interviews with the performers from the chosen scenes, and I found those the most interesting. Standouts include Peter Bergman's brutally honest evaluation of his relationship with costar Eric Braeden; Sharon Gabet's remembrances of The Edge of Night: and Malcolm Groome and Ilene Kristen recalling the failed marriage of Pat Ryan and Delia Reid that ended due to a toss of a hairbrush on Ryan's Hope. This is such a fun read, and I highly recommend the book for soap fans nostalgic for the glory days of soaps.
