They ignored the warning signs and it cost them everything...
At the end of a life-changing summer a devastating tornado hit the small town of Hope’s Grove, Oklahoma.
While the brick suburban mansions of Summit Bluffs saw very little damage, their occupants weren’t so lucky. As the members of both communities struggle to put the pieces of their lives back together, lies will be told, truths will be revealed, and nothing will ever be the same. The road to recovery is long and paved with past hurts and future heartbreaks.
They ignored the warning signs, and one of them didn’t make it out alive. The four that remain know they’d be crazy to think the storms are actually over..
Because it’s just when you think you’re safe that you find yourself right in the path of destruction.
Warning: This is the second in the series. Do not read the second one without reading the first one. You will be totally lost. But OMG...go read the first one.
You know how sometimes you have this build up to something and then it disappoints. Kinda like how the birthday kid always ends up crying at the party. Too much sugar, too much anticipation and not enough sleep. This book is NOT that. This one lives up to all the anticipation. ALL THE ANTICIPATION.
So lets recap from Book 1, Storm Warnings....there are 5 kids that are in each other's circles. They don't all know each other but they know someone who knows someone. Like those models of atoms that are all circle each other. Then there is a tornado. A real tornado, not a metaphorical one. The kind of tornado that kills.
STOP RIGHT HERE. If you have not read Book 1...do not read the rest of this. It is not a spoiler for Book 2, but it is for Book 1.
EJ, Hayden, Coop, and Cami have lost a great deal. They have lost friends, family members, lovers, their sense of community, their peace of mind, their comfort zone and a piece of themselves. In the aftermath of the storm, the lives of all are changed. They must make a new normal. But that means leaving behind so many things because a new normal means that their old normal is gone. Forever.
Ella Jane felt herself waking up, felt the greedy hands of consciousness clawing at her, dragging her to a place she didn't want to be. Alive.
Survivors guilt. Just another one of the gifts the storm keeps giving. Sometimes you need to focus outside yourself to give your soul time to heal.
"Why do you meet me every month?"... "Because you need me."
They guys are protective. The girls want to heal, but just don't know how. As the four characters continue to circle each other, they must learn how to trust again. Learn how to deal what has happened to them and their community.
...I will show you exactly how we handle shit where I come from.
Book 1 took my breath away. I was swept away in the story and completely blindsided by the end. In this, Book 2, I knew more what to expect. It was going to hurt. Yes, this one hurt to read because you know...you just know the pain the characters are feeling. And it's going to hurt more before it hurts less.
This is a study of how people grieve. How we can be blinded to other's pain by our own. Can they find a new way to live and to love? Will they let themselves make a new normal? They learn, they grow, they start to hope.
It would be so easy for us to just be together....Before the bubble that was...burst and the outside world came crashing down on their perfect existence.
Ms Lee and Ms Quinn have hit it out of the park again with this one. Run..don't walk to your nearest One Click Button. Get swept away just like me.
Dammit!!! Another ending left needing more!!!! At least it wasn't as bad as Storm Warning. Still, I need more!!! So good! This series is just awesome! I love these characters something fierce. Though I found myself getting angry with their decisions at times. I understood but it still made me wanna shake them. And I cried. Alot. When you find out who died at the end of Storm Warning you'll be crying too. Alot.
I can't go on for fear of giving shit away. Just read Storm Warning and then this when it's out. It's amazing! Great job, Elizabeth and Caisey!!! Great sequel!
Oh my fucking....oh sweet baby Jesus!!!! That cover...holy shit! Now I NEED my ARC!!!! Please Elizabeth! I can't wait for this book!! I'm on pins and needles....
Omg, I NEEEEEEEEEEED this book! Please, Elizabeth...please Caisey!!! I can't deal with the pressure. I need to know what happens. I need more Cooper and Kyle! Sorry, but Hayden can go away. Don't like him. But Coop and Kyle are my boys! Gimme! Gimme! Gimmmmmmmeeeeeee!
Grief is a strange animal. It makes us take risks, howl at the moon, crawl under the covers and sob until our throats are raw and eyes painful to open. It can do all this in a matter of minutes. A seemingly never-ending rollercoaster of emotion that is both healing and exhausting.
The teens of Hope's Grove and Summit Bluff know this ride all too well. After a summer of blistering heat of the sexual chemistry kind and a heartwrenching conclusion to the most evil of cliffhangers, PATH OF DESTRUCTION picks up after a storm like no other. Dazed, mired in grief, the people of two little towns in Oklahoma must try and pick up the pieces.
A notable absence makes this harder and while I won't spoil it, I'm going to be totally evil and say there was an exhale of relief sizable enough to start another tornado when I realised it wasn't one of my faves. Going to hell...
As our four remaining teens must adjust to life without a dear companion, we see just how devastating a loss it truly is.
One of my favourite things about Elizabeth and Caisey's writing is how wonderfully talented they are at making you FEEL every emotion. Every stricken moment as a memory overwhelms, every smile that plays delicately on the lips as a momentary reprieve is given, these girls have serious talent!
Even more so when it comes to romance! The chemistry sizzles in the most unexpected of places as new relationships one never thought possible come to pass and I LOVED it. I adored the exploration of friendships turning to something more as barriers were broken, risks were taken and trust was forged. Characters I hadn't warmed to at all in STORM WARNING are now firm favourites and the character development was excellent.
With yet another evil ending, tons of Feels, amazing drama and unforgettable characters, PATH OF DESTRUCTION was the perfect sequel and I am DYING for more!
I will keep this review as simple as I can and without spoilers. If you haven’t read Storm Warning please do because it was so good and so was Path of Destruction. For those who have read Storm Warning, you are in for a ride with Path of Destruction.
What a roller coaster ride that was. My emotions were all over the place while reading Path of Destruction. I went from a sobbing mess, to sad, to WTH and then to annoyed. I’ve had Storm Warning on my Kindle for a while now, so when I got Path of Destruction as an arc I figured I better get to reading it and guess what I loved it. The intertwining of 5 different people’s stories and crazy ending had me hooked. I had to pick up Path right away to find out what the heck happened after the end of Storm Warning.
Path of Destruction picks up shortly after where Storm Warning leaves off and let me tell you, I cried and I cried. The beginning was so sad, but eventually my tears dried and the story moved along. I have to say the woman of this story kind of ticked me off by the end of this book. I felt they had become selfish and only concerned with their own pain. Not carry who their pain was hurting along the way. I get that they were in some deep, deep pain, but I just wanted to shake them to get them to wake up and see what was happening around them. So yes by the end of the book I found myself annoyed with some of the choices a few characters had chosen. But even with my annoyance I still can’t wait for Taking Shelter. I’m really hoping that this will be the book that all the truths come out and the characters I love find a way back to some happiness.
A very sad and grievous continuation is found in the most recent release in this captivating and much loved Broken Heartland series. This one played havoc with my emotions in all kinds of ways. After the tornado hits the small community, one of the original characters is gone and I’m distraught – as are many others. Another character that I had a difficult time warming up to in the beginning is once again sliding back to not-so-lovable status. After much angst and torment among the characters, readers are left with another horrid cliffhanger that where one major character goes missing – hopefully to be found safe and sound so that some happiness can return to friends, neighbors and citizens of the storm ravaged area and grieving community.
The duo dynamic writing team of Quinn and Lee does an amazing job building characters, keeping the story moving at a nice clip, as well as providing exciting and interesting exchanges between characters in the dialogue. I’ve loved everything these authors have written. However, small and easy to fix editing problems continue to plague this book as has been the case in their others as well. It saddens me when I encounter such unnecessary errors. They put a frown on my face as I subtract a star from the rating.

Title: Path of Destruction Series: Broken Heartland, #2 Author: E.Lee, C. Quinn Genre: Young Adult Source: eARC Pov: Multiple 3rd Person Release Date: December 24, 2014 Overall Rating: 4 Broken Stars
Lately, I've been all about adult thriller books with dark elements. This book totally got me craving more young adult novels. The writing was beautiful. A total emotional roller coaster though, this book starts off where Storm Warning leaves off, and let me tell you will need a box of tissues.
Also I need to know who did these amazing book covers which are my most favorite. But lets get back to the review. This time around we only got four POV instead of five. If you haven't read the first book I will advise you not to read this book until you do because you will be totally lost.
This whole book is about grieving, and how four teenagers deal with losing the ones they love. And it touches base with what I went through as a teenager. I swear e.lee & c.quinn are amazing for pulling off this wonderful series.
Because this book tells you what teenagers feel and what they go through. And it's tough.I felt so heavy connected to each and everyone of them,I seriously just wanted to give them all a hug
I don’t typically read YA books, but Storm Warning came highly recommended by one of my friends. Told from 5 POVs, I was leery I wouldn’t connect with the characters. Also given the age difference between them and myself (I AM OLD), I thought maybe it would be hard to relate to their issues, but that couldn’t be further than the truth. The authors did a great job of capturing each characters emotions, making their stories easy to connect to. I felt like I was transported back to my high school days, with insecurities and crushes, catty girls and douchey boys all reigning the hallways.
Then that ending! All I can say is that I’m so happy I had book 2 in my hands already, as that cliffhanger was brutal. Despite my eagerness to begin book 2, I was equally terrified.
WARNING: Don’t read this next part, if you haven’t read book 1. We know people died at the end book 1, we just didn’t know who. Reading page 2 of this book, dread started to seep in.
Side note: The downside of reading an ARC is that sometimes you can’t do a group read and get the emotional support a book like this needs. I even sent out a plea to the authors.
I had a feeling that one of the main characters died, and as I was trying to prepare myself, I realized I wouldn’t be ok with any of the 5 main characters passing. Like some of the characters, I was in a bit of denial as I was reading, trying to avoid what truly happened. But at 10% it is officially confirmed and my heart broke. Whhhhhhyyy? I should have known this was coming based on the series title, but the authors pull no punches in this book. You feel the pain of loss with each character. My heart hurt A LOT, and I fought tears throughout reading this story.
To avoid spoiling who dies, I really can’t talk about any of the characters. But I will tell you, it is hard to tell who had it worse. Each of the 4 remaining characters are going thru so much, on top of just surviving high school, I wanted to give them all a hug. Some characters begin a downward spiral, while others try to move on to forget. But the pain seems to resurface at every turn. I felt like yelling at the authors, “Come on, cut these people some slack.” There were some minor points of happiness, as a new relationship is formed. But lots of old relationships are tested or broken.
As this series will have four books, this one ends in another cliffhanger. Is it as bad as the first book? Hard to say. But given the series title and one character’s lost hope, I have a feeling these authors aren’t done in breaking me down.
What an amazing sequel to Storm Warning. Do Not Read Path of Destruction if you haven't read Storm Warning..... Path of Destruction picks up right where the last book left off. Lives have been forever changed. Lives have been lost and now those left behind must deal with the aftermath.
"Once the storm is over, you won't remember how you made it through and how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won't be the same person who walked into it."
"She wasn't Kyle Mason's sweet little sister anymore. Wasn't EJ or Coop's Ellie May, wasn't that tomboy that ran around town and watched trains. She'd lost herself, lost the girl who'd given herself to a boy she'd thought loved in her now destroyed pickup truck. She was a shell, an empty shell. And she didn't give a solitary damn what anyone in this pretty plastic place thought about it."
I don't want to give anything away, so I will just say this: Path of Destruction took me on one heck of a roller-coaster ride of emotions. My heart broke for all the loss that was experienced in this book. I knew lives were going to be lost, but I wasn't prepared for what was coming.
This story was well written and completely captivating. Path of Destruction is told from multiple pov's and I loved seeing how all their stories were interconnected. The characters were very easy for me to connect with and their emotions were very palpable.
Path of Destruction was a quick and enjoyable read. I was hooked from the very first page and couldn't read it fast enough. This is a story about love, loss, lies and tragedy. And I will warn you, it ends with one heck of a cliffhanger. I can't wait to see what will happen next. I hope that the truth will finally come out and that these characters will get some peace and a HEA ending.
*An ARC copy of this book was provided to me in exchange for an honest review*
*Quotes taken from ARC and may differ from final copy*
I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to review this when it comes time. I loved it and it ripped my heart out and kinda put it back together. I didn't guess who died in the tornado is Storm Warning. I found it pretty shocking actually. And sad. Really sad. The loss of this person left a huge hole in the second book and turned several lives upside down. I found myself stuck between loving and hating the characters a good amount of the time. I wanted to shake sense into them. Everything is all mixed up and everyone is dealing in their own way and OMG FEELS. All of them.
I'm exhausted. I'm totally anxious about what the next book in the series will bring and the wait just might kill me. Path of Destruction ends with a cliffhanger, but it's not quite the same dire situation as in the first book. But it was still stressful and I'm worried about the characters I love.
Path of Destruction, Broken Heartland 2, by E.Lee and C.Quinn
5 Stars
****DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU HAVE READ STORM WARNING, Book 1!!!****
So this is the second book in the series do not read this one until you've read Storm Warning, you will be mad bc I've spoiled something!
PoD picks up right where SW left off. There is a group of 5 kids that are all intertwined even if they all aren't aware of it yet. There's a huge tornado on the ground and everyone is separated and trying to get to safety. Unfortunately, one doesn't make it. And it hurts us, the reader, and it devastates the teens and their lives.
Path of Destruction is about loss, how different people grieve, and regaining trust.
"She would exist, living, breathing, speaking, in a world that he was no longer a part of."
EJ, Coop, Cami, and Hayden all have lost something or someone due to the storm. Friends, loved ones, homes, schools, their comfort zone, and in a way, a certain type of innocence about life. We all have experienced a new normal, after 9/11, after hurricanes, and yes tornadoes, we all live a new normal. That's not so easy for teenagers to do. As much as they like change, too much change can be detrimental.
Coop and Hayden are very protective over what they see as "theirs" and with Hopes Grove High School having to move classes to Summit Falls - what one might think is his, another might also claim. So the hallways at school will be home to some of the more interesting moments of these teenagers lives. Be ready!
"I will show you exactly how we handle shit where I come from."
EJ and Cami find their own ways to cope with all the changes. Could they have found better ways, yes, but what teenage girl thinks hmmmm.... Maybe I shouldn't be doing this, when trying just to survive life.
"Some things you can't save. Do you get that? Some of us are lost causes that you would be better giving up on."
The four continue to weave their circle tighter and tighter. Secrets are revealed and hearts are broken. Scars begin to fade but are always there as reminders of what was lost and left unsaid.
"Why do you meet me here every month?"..... "Because you need me."
These teens have a lot to be thankful for and they'll realize it. They have done some growing up and I'm so sure we will see more growing as the series continues. A couple of them have grown leaps and bounds while others still have more to do. I'm not going to claim #teamanyone because through out the book I wanted to shake one of them silly, I wanted to scream at one of them to stop self destructing, for one to grow a set, and I did have to pat one on the back. You read and find out which was which and see if you feel the same way.
"Death should remind us that life is short."
With E. Lee and C. Quinn you feel the hurt and pain. You feel the happiness and love. In PoD you feel all of these but more so you feel the loss of a character. I never expected to feel his loss so profusely but you do. You know he was the one that made three of the four want to be a better person.
I can't wait until Taking Shelter to see what these fantastic two authors throw at us next!
Path Of Destruction is filled with overwhelming grief and pain, but leaves you with a sense of hope that the future can be brighter for all the characters.
So I have decided to write a SPOILER FREE review for this book, which means I am very limited in what I can say. I'm not going to mention any specific characters as that will obviously reveal who didn't die is the last book.
REVIEW: The story: Okay so at the end of book 1, Storm Warning, we are left hanging. We know one of the five main characters was killed in the storm, but WHO?! Well we find out early on and of course it's absolutely heartbreaking. The four remaining characters are all affected by the death, and they each handle their grief in very different ways. Some shutdown and push their loved ones away. While others turn to each other for comfort. But all of them struggle with the loss and it results in a lot of hurt between all of them. All of their futures are riddled with uncertainty and at times it was almost too painful to continue reading. We are left with another cliffhanger, but not as tragic as last time. The next book is sure to bring us even more FEELS and I have no idea who everyone will end up with. To be honest I have no idea who I WANT everyone to end up with. All I know is that I just want everyone to get a happy ending (YOU HEAR ME QUINN & LEE!!)
The romance: Let's just say the romance get so much more complicated in this book and I am a complete mess. There are so many possibilities for each of the characters and I feel the confusion that each of them feel. They've been hurt and had their hearts broken, and all of them are reluctant to trust their feelings or put their hearts on the line again. The next book is going to be very interesting to see what happens with the interwoven relationships!
The Writing: Caisey & Elizabeth seriously know how to inject MAJOR FEELS into their writing. I spent the entire book in an emotional fog. I felt all the grief, hurt and confusion that each character felt right along with them. I will be sending my therapy bills to them both.
FINAL WORD: Path Of Destruction is filled with overwhelming grief and pain, but leaves you with a sense of hope that the future can be brighter for all the characters. The Broken Heartland series is not for faint hearted and will leave in an emotional pit of of despair, holding your breath for the next book!
CONTENT: Sexuality: medium-heavy / heavy kissing, detailed fondling, nudity, fade to black sex Violence: mild / some minor punch ups Language: medium / several f words Drugs & alcohol: medium / underage drinking and some minor drug use
“There was a lot of things that he wished he could change, but people were dead, lives were destroyed, hearts were broken, and he didn’t possess the power to change any of those things.”
I thought I was a mess after Storm Warning, but Path of Destruction left even more devastation behind. Saying I was nervous going into this book is an understatement, I knew E. Lee and C. Quinn were going to put my heart and nerves through the wringer and they definitely succeeded there.
Path of Destruction picked up right at the end of Storm Warning and it didn't take long to find out which one of the five main characters we'd come to love lost their life in the tornado that plowed through Hope's Grove. From that point on my heart was broken as I watched everyone else try to deal with their grief. I can't say much about individual story lines, since I don't want to give away who died. But all the remaining characters were affected by this death in some way.
I wasn't only heartbroken during this book, I was extremely frustrated by the actions of a few characters, I was shocked where romance blossomed, I was angry at the parents that couldn't see what their children were going through, and every turn of the page had me anxious to know what would happen next. There did come a point that I felt things stalled a bit and I was wanting things to move along, but in no time I was thrown back into the story and all too quickly left with a cliff hanger that has me clamoring for more. At this point, I have no clue what's to come for these teens. I just know I want everyone to get the happiness they deserve.
Yet again, Lee and Quinn have woven together an emotional tale that includes four distinct points of view. While I love some individual characters more than others, I love getting the story through more than one person's eyes. Although there were times in Path of Destruction that the timeline confused me when switching from one POV to the next. Even though this book was riddled with grief and pain, it was a necessity for these characters to move forward and now I can't wait to see what the future holds for them.
Well holy wowza. Path of Destruction did me in. So if you haven't read Storm Warning, please do. This book won't make a lick of sense if you don't read it first.
That being said, it is really hard to write a review for PoD without spoilers. Here's my best shot.
Read the book. For real. Elizabeth Lee and Caisey Quinn may have ripped my heart out, but all is forgiven. The characters in this book deal with incredibly heavy stuff. Stuff that is definitely more common for people to deal with. It's real, it's gritty, it's raw. But at the same time, it's lovely. Seeing how the characters deal with their life's paths broke my heart - not just because I felt bad for them, but because it's real.
Elizabeth and Caisey created a series that isn't fluff, isn't just hearts and rainbows and happy endings. The characters are flawed, not always perfect and likable, and they struggle daily to deal with everything that has been thrown at them.
Thank you, Elizabeth and Caisey for creating something that's not perfect, wrapped up or even expected. I was kept guessing through the entire book, through my tears - which were in abundance.
I was given a copy early so I could provide a review! Thanks, ladies. ❤️
I'm not sure how to gush about this book without spoilers so ill just tell you to go read it. I couldn't put it down. Trust me you won't be disappointed. But it seems everything these two amazing ladies touch turns to gold. Yet another Broken heartland ending left us hanging. These ladies are killing me.
I’m so in love with this series. When I ended the two books I was legit depressed. It kept my mind off so many things going on in my life right now. It said Taking Shelter (book 3) was coming out in 2016....well it’s not out and I’m so sad!! I need book 3 ASAP! I need to know what happens! :(
I have so many emotions swirling around inside of me right now, I don't even know where to start! I guess it's a good thing I can't really say much, as I want to avoid spoilers, because there are simply no words! E. Lee and C. Quinn work so well together and have done a wonderful job with their storyline, characters' voices, and overall development of the novel.
I was left heartbroken after all that transpired at the end of Storm Warning. Hearts are shattered, miscommunications are seen as betrayal, and worst of all- a life is tragically lost during the E-4 tornado that ravaged the town of Hope's Grove. Now, our characters are left to pick up the pieces of their lives, as they all have been deeply affected in one way or another. They are all left grieving and they all do so in different ways. Some will try to plaster a smile on their faces and try to go back to a time where life was normal and carefree, some will sacrifice their own pain and grief to help others, and some will spin so out of control that they will lose themselves even further into the darkest depths of despair.
This book really knocked me on my bottom. New relationships are developed that shocked the heck out of me, others are broken to the point where you wonder if they're beyond repair, and there are secrets that are ready to rise up and potentially ruin lives. We see a lot of changes in our characters' behavior also. Suddenly things that once seemed important are now inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. They are starting to come into their own and I really enjoy seeing them mature and grow.
Being angsty teenagers, there were times when some of the characters could really frustrate me. I wanted to yell at them for being selfish and jealous and to stop acting crazy! Others I wanted to shake and tell them to fight harder for the ones they love and not to give up on them, even when they seem like a lost cause.
I am really unsure of the direction Lee and Quinn will take the final book, but I know without a doubt they will make it work. Now that we've braved the darkness of the storm, it's time to stand in the light of the sun and let our characters heal and move forward with their lives.

Path of Destruction is the second book in the Broken Heartland series and should be read after book one. If you haven’t read the first book, you really should stop reading this, as it may possibly spoil the ending to the first book in the series. When I opened up Path of Destruction, I was nervous. Elizabeth and Caisey have expertly built the suspense at the beginning of the book, further fueling my anxiety as I waited to find out the aftermath of the first book’s final events. I certainly wasn’t prepared for the onslaught of emotions that would find me from the very first page of this book. Elizabeth Lee and Caisey Quinn have once again written a breathtaking journey that is raw, powerful, and absolutely haunting.
Once again, EL and CQ have joined their writing styles seamlessly into an incredibly well-written, expertly developed, and touching story. Path of Destruction packs a powerful punch, completely consuming me until I was lost in the story. These two talented authors know how to develop a character, layering complex emotions and experiences until you can’t help but fall in love with and feel for each and every one of their characters. This story revealed a lot about the characters and their relationships, exposing the vulnerabilities and imperfections of each one in a way that made them undoubtedly genuine and beautiful in their flaws. EJ in particular went through a huge transformation in this book. Her experiences break her down and challenge her to hold onto who she is. Her personal journey is heart wrenching, raw, and honest.
I am overwhelmed by the skill with which EL and CQ have crafted this story. It is not an easy task, sharing so many personal journeys at once while maintaining their overall place in the big picture. It would be easy to lose that connection between reader and character in the shuffle of such a layered storyline, but EL and CQ make it seem effortless. After the first book in the series, Path of Destruction was everything I hoped it would be and more. I am dying to find out how this story will unfold and come to a close in the third book. I’m already bracing myself for the rollercoaster that is sure to come in the next book.
Path of Destruction picks up where Storm Warning, the first book in this series left off, as Hope's Grove and Summit Bluffs recover after the devastating tornado. Combined with the other interpersonal misunderstandings that occurred that night, nothing will ever be the same, and the gang struggles for quite some time over everything that happened. There are many reveals in the first part of Path of Destruction and I don't really want to spoil anything. Readers should experience how the details of what happened that night are revealed.
There's quite a bit of sadness in this second installment in the series because no one emerges unscathed from the tornado. Mixed in with the sad stuff are break-ups, fights, jealous "friends" and temptations all in a new school setting and there are still some secrets and misunderstandings between the main characters and their parents.
What I really like about this series is the characters. I was drawn into their lives in the first book, and by the time I started Path of Destruction I was hooked. I had to know what happened to them. The authors manage to carry that tension and emotion through the second book of the series, leaving the reader again with a cliffhanger that left me wondering how things can ever get on a better path with this group of young adults struggling to communicate their complex feelings to anyone who can help sort out what's going on. Yeah, I know, that's cryptic, but a lot of the charm here is what is held back and how it is revealed to the reader.
Path of Destruction isn't perfect though and there were times where I just couldn't believe that the characters don't seem to look beyond their own noses to understand what's going on. And there were times that a conversation could clear up the confusion between the couples but it was easy to overlook some of these plot points for the enjoyment of the story.
Overall, this is a YA contemporary with tons of emotion. Looking forward to what happens next.
I've read through enough of the reviews to know that they've given a much better summary of the book than I can give.
So I'll just tell you why I loved this book. No, it wasn't all happy, fun times- but it had me completely hooked from the very first page. I could not put this book down once I started and I didn't want it to end.
Quinn and Lee have such an amazing talent at telling a story that sucks you in and makes you feel like you're watching a movie or actually living the story yourself. The angst is off the charts. The heartbreak and tragedy was almost too much to take at times. But it is absolutely addicting and I couldn't get enough.
Book one (Storm Warning) left me reeling- BEGGING to know what was going to happen next. It was agony having to wait for book two. And now after finishing Path of Destruction, that's how I feel waiting for book three.
Having said that, this isn't a series I would want to wait for all of the books to be out before I read it. It's like my favorite TV series- I HAVE to know what's going to happen next. So I'll gladly take what I can get until the next "episode" or book comes out.
It really pains me to give the book 3 stars (which I felt was generous). The first book was 5+ stars for me and I was soooo excited when this book finally got released.I even reread the first book before to set me up which is rare for me to do. I can't say too much without giving away the story but I feel like my ballon got deflated by the end of the book. I get this book was supposed to be more about grief and I'm okay with that, but I just felt real disconnect with all the characters and where their story ended up heading . I don't think it was true to the characters personalities. The whole storyline felt repetitive and rushed when it came to editing( not a smooth transition between each characters perspective) ...NOTHING like the first book.
I just can't do it any more. I'm giving this one up at page 114.
I'm annoyed that Cami is with Cooper. Oh yeah, she loved Kyle so much that she is moving on already. EJ has turned into a raging bitch! And now she is smoking pot. Yeah, that is going to end well.
Then we have Hayden's father who is a POS, with all of his wheeling and dealing, Kyle and EJ's dad a wretched gambler, the mother drowning in grief.
This one just isn't for me.

Let me tell you why and hopefully someone has answers to this and maybe I’m wrong. First off I didn’t even know there was a third book until I stumbled upon it at the end of this book. Usually I do my research but I didn’t on this one. I was mad about that at first because I felt like everything could’ve been resolved and done in book 2. I’m tired of reading about these characters but then I saw that book 3, Seeking Shelter released in 2015 or so it says it was going to. Guess what? It’s February 2018 and I cannot find book 3 anywhere. Someone please tell me this book is somewhere so I can finish this damn series because there are unanswered questions that I need answers to.
Second of all, this book just dragged on. I ended up going from liking EJ and Hayden the most & just tolerating Coop and Cami to despising EJ and loving Cami. Weird. The secrets were driving me crazy. Just come out with it already and move on. But no, they just kept dragging every single thing out and then left us with a cliffhanger and no third book.
I need closure. I don’t have that which in turn made me give this 2 stars. Now, if the third book is out there somewhere and someone knows then please tell me because if it’s one thing I can’t stand it’s when they say there’s going to be another story and then 3 years later there’s still no story. I can’t keep sitting here twiddling my damn thumbs waiting. I feel like I’ve been doing that long enough while waiting for From the Storm by Gail McHugh. So I suggest that if you haven’t read this series then don’t because it’s not finished and who knows when it will be.
Would have rated the book higher if it wasn’t ended with a cliffhanger and book 3 hasn’t been released. I hate when I put time into a series and the authors screw us out of an ending.
