Ali Crawford is the queen of Christmas, a type-A mom with color-coded lists, perfectly wrapped gifts, and a spreadsheet for every holiday detail. Her husband Tommy? He prefers cookies over checklists and believes "winging it" is a holiday strategy.
When the stress of the season reaches a breaking point, Ali and Tommy make a bold they switch roles for the holidays. She tackles tall ladders and tangled lights. He signs up for Santa duty. Neither of them is ready for what comes next.
As holiday plans go sideways and missed traditions pile up, the couple must decide what matters most. Can they salvage the season-and their sanity-before Christmas morning?
For most of us, Christmas is a holiday wrapped in traditions that we continue year after year. Imagine one Christmas your life is suddenly turned upside down. Feeling unsupported and unappreciated, Ali agrees to Tommy’s spur of the moment suggestion to switch tasks during the Christmas holidays. For over planner Ali, this impulsive decision leaves her feeling completely out of sorts, and for her husband, Tommy, there is a sudden realization his laidback attitude about the Christmas holidays won’t cut it this year.
Christmas Switch is a heartwarming, fun look into one family’s Christmas and the turmoil but appreciation created by trading places. I enjoyed the family dynamics and the humor masterfully created by this author. Her descriptive writing helped me feel connected to her characters’ lives and their experiences. Love her writing style. Looking forward to reading her future books.
This was truly a joy to read! I often could relate to the expectations of traditions, getting them just right and to the stress and chaos the season sometimes brings. In the telling of this wonderfully heartwarming story, and ironically finishing my read on Christmas Eve, I’m starting my day today with more focus on what Christmas really means to me…the love of family, being together and just being grateful for what is!
This book made me laugh out loud more than once. Ali’s obsession with lists felt painfully relatable, and the role-switch with Tommy led to some genuinely funny moments. It’s light, warm, and perfect for getting into the Christmas spirit without being overly cheesy.
So impressed by Kate’s first book. The story and the characters were so relatable. Knowing Kate and how much she loves the holidays made reading this so special. Her love of Christmas and her passion for writing make this a wonderful debut novel. Can’t wait to read what she writes next.
Loved the girls going to the bar in the pj's, the turkey episode, and the love of sharing with family, neighbors, and friends. Looking forward to more from this author.
