A cataclysmic event has decimated and reshaped the world as we know it. The few people who survived have spent the past hundreds of years picking up the pieces and recolonizing across the globe. As the people of this new earth adapt to their new environments that mirror those of a prehistoric past, so do the remaining wildlife. Through reverse evolution, dinosaurs now roam the earth once more.

While many dinosaurs roam wild across the globe, others have become domesticated, coexisting with humans through a process known as “Linking.” This creates a bond so strong between a human and their dinosaur companion that they can internally communicate with one another.

Life in Midestern is simplistic and serene for a young Taylor Albrecht, who’s counting down the days before he can Link with a dinosaur of his very own…until it isn’t. As more and more strange sequences of events unfold, each more unsettling than the last.

Follow Taylor and friends on an action-packed prehistoric adventure laced with love, pain, friendship, and corruption as they work to find answers surrounding the current unrest of both Midestern and its surrounding cities. Has the universe simply stitched together the oddest string of coincidences? Or will they unearth buried truths that were better left hidden in the shadows?

I absolutely adored Fossil! This book transported me right back to my childhood and I know without a doubt that if I had discovered it in middle school, I would have been completely obsessed!

The story feels like a perfect blend of Harry Potter and Percy Jackson—but with DINOSAURS!! And honestly, what could be better than that? The world-building is fantastic, creating a setting that feels both magical and believable. From the very first chapter, I was hooked and eager to see where the adventure would lead.

Taylor, Anne, and Edwin—along with the rest of the cast of characters are wonderfully developed and easy to fall in love with. Their friendships, struggles, and growth felt genuine, and the emotional moments landed just as well as the action-packed ones. There were so many heartfelt scenes that made me smile, balanced perfectly with thrilling adventures and stakes that felt genuinely high throughout the story.

And of course, a special shoutout to Sam—the best dino ever. Every scene with him was a delight!

Fossil is the kind of book that reminds you why you fell in love with reading in the first place. Full of wonder, heart, adventure, and dinosaurs! It captured my imagination from beginning to end. I can't wait to see where this story goes next!

This story takes you on a thrilling adventure through the eyes of a teenage boy and his friends looking to right the wrongs they’ve recently discovered lying within the government that dictates their lives. Equally full of laughs and suspense, I thoroughly enjoyed diving in to this world and learning the ins and outs of how humans coexist with dinosaurs. The main characters are well designed with personalities that complement one another as they work together through triumphs and trials. The overall pace of the book was nice, allowing me to thoroughly enjoy diving into the story without getting too lost in the details or wanting more- it was just enough! I believe anyone from middle school to adult age could read this book and find something they relate to. Packed full of adventure and intrigue from a fantastic and beautifully built world, I am left with anticipation for what happens next in this story.

The dinosaur personalities were so fun and sweet Sam was so memorable. They truly brought the story to life and added so much personality and charm. It was an imaginative, entertaining read that balanced adventure, heart, and excitement beautifully. I had a great time reading this and would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good adventure with unforgettable characters!

As a 32 year old reader, it's safe to say I wasn't the target audience for this young adult novel, but I absolutely loved it.

Fossil was incredibly easy to get immersed in. There are so many cute and witty moments, but also moments where I found myself on the edge of my seat, flipping through pages because I was so excited to see what happened next. It has all the things I look for in a great book.

There were scenes that made me laugh and feel like I was one of the best friends on the adventure, and other scenes that brought tears to my eyes as I wondered how the story could possibly move forward. At every turn, the author kept the story moving in the best direction without ever becoming predictable. I find that especially important because I hate being able to guess exactly what's going to happen next. Fossil kept surprising me in all the right ways.

The characters truly brought the story to life. At some moments, I felt like I was the main character experiencing everything firsthand, and at others, I felt like a friend cheering them on from afar. That connection made the journey even more enjoyable.

Fossil lays the groundwork for what I think could be a perfect series centered on adventure, friendship, and resilience. I can't recommend this book enough to readers of all ages even those who, like me, fall outside the young adult category.

I can't wait to read more from this author. Five stars from me!
