I never really understood how true that was until I had two pink lines staring back at me.
Now, not only have I lost my spot on Team USA’s gymnastics team after being forced to retire, but the future father of my child is none other than my brother’s rival teammate.
And it doesn’t help that Quentin Laurent is too perfect for my own good.
Smart. Mature. Caring. He’s got everything you’d want in a man, and that’s a problem considering we agreed to be just friends for the sake of the baby.
When we’re set to live together, the undeniable chemistry between us seems to ignite every time we’re near each other, and I’m afraid of what will happen if I get too close.
My life is twisted like never before, but I think this new beginning might be the key to unravelling it.
Hi! My name is Carlie Jean, a girl who loves to write new adult romances featuring protective males and strong heroines with a side of spice, tension, laughter, and a hefty dose of scenes that give readers butterflies.
You usually can find me cozied up at home, either writing or reading. And when I’m not being a couch potato, I enjoy walking my dog, playing volleyball and baseball, and traveling.
The opening line was the fmc telling a gymnastics judge to go f*uck themselves, so needless to say I was hooked and invested immediately.
I am an absolute sucker for an athlete x athlete romance and a massive fan of the brothers rival trope, couple that with an accidental pregnancy, a black cat fmc and a green flag supportive mmc and its a guarantee I am going to enjoy it.
The cherry on top was that she was a gymnast, I would read so many more books with the gynmast fmc.
I found Teagan to be a fierce, independent and strong willed fmc while Quentin was mature, supportive and an absolute green flag. These two had incredibly chemistry and banter and despite his maturity and unwavering support he had an absolutely filthy mouth.
The man was down bad and did so many little things to care for Teagan and was so mature about everything - I ate it up.
Quentin is an acts of service king 👑.
The book had some solid found family and I really enjoyed the side characters.
It was a feel good story, with some serious heat (after the slow burn), that really showcased a mature mmc, personal growth for both the mmc and fmc, and growth as a couple.
Tropes: ⚾️baseball romance ⚾️brothers rival ⚾️accidental pregnancy ⚾️gymast fmc ⚾️black cat fmc ⚾️roommates ⚾️one night stand ⚾️slow burn ⚾️age-gap
If I were to give one criticism, I think this book was a smidge longer than it needed to be.
Thank you Good Girls PR and Carlie Jean for the ARC !
You already know if it’s sports and accidental pregnancy I’m gonna eat it up okay 🤷🏻♀️ Quentin is SUCH a good MMC i absolutely adored him and his family. Also Teagan’s growth through this book?? *chefs kiss* And when I tell you that epilogue had me so freaking emotional😭😭
The pacing was little off at times and I truly could not stand her brother even a teeny bit but overall was cute and would recommend!!
Overall, I feel like a lot of the deeper issues weren’t really utilized enough to add more weight to the story or the characters. Like her mother issues, his trust issues… they were there, but it all felt kind of short and underdeveloped.
There’s also this supposed issue about paternity and him being burned before—like a girl once made him believe he was going to be a father, only for it to turn out to be a lie. But honestly… it wasn’t even that big of a deal? It gets resolved in like five sentences, and he’s basically all in right away, so I didn’t really feel like there was a strong conflict there.
Even Quentin’s accident, which he considers part of his reason for retiring, didn’t feel that impactful either.
It honestly could’ve just been a simple “let’s not get into a relationship so we don’t mess things up” kind of situation—and I feel like that was already the plot anyway. She didn’t even need to add all those other issues, especially since they didn’t really contribute much to the story.
Even the brother rivalry didn’t play as big of a role as I expected. I thought it would create more tension, but it barely felt relevant.
I also feel like the FMC’s supposed cold personality wasn’t explored enough—especially when it was revealed that her dismissal was more because of the coach’s personal issue rather than hers. It could’ve been more impactful if it also tied into her mother issues or even her dynamic with her brother.
Even their friendships with the other athletes felt a bit… random? Like okay, they’re there, but it was all very casual and didn’t really add anything to the story.
I don’t know… maybe some of these issues are meant to play a bigger role in the next books in the series, but for this one, they just felt unnecessary lol.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Ever heard of “show, don’t tell”? The entire vibe of this book is telling, and not a lot of showing.
The writing was very repetitive. The most annoying phrase was “seeing as”. I felt like it was written in every other sentence. There are many other ways to say “seeing as” (i.e., considering, taking into account…), and also, it’s wasn’t always necessary. It feels like the writer assumes the reader is stupid, always over-explaining things.
ngl I do think Teagan should be punished for saying “fuxk you” to a competition judge… maybe not as drastic as what the Coach did, but at least fined. To me, the evidence of blackmail was not at all clear, like what did the Coach have to blackmail her? I was thinking like he had specific secrets he would release or something? The whole retirement + revenge on Coach plot made absolutely no sense.
Also, Ian and Quentin’s beef was resolved way too easily… all of a sudden Ian is a changed man and they’re bffs??? I would expect maybe a bit more tension between them, like some begrudging acceptance from Ian and maybe full on acceptance later down the line.
There were a lot of random additions that I think were not super relevant, or at least they prevented other more relevant issues from being explored deeper.
Quentin retires partially because of his shoulder, but we never see him having issues with it. Again, the author just tells us he will be sore after the game. But do we see him having problems with carrying Teagan? Having to ice the shoulder after each game? Nope…
Also her entire apartment burns down, all of her trophies and medals gone, including her olympic gold medals!! She cried about it once and she’s fine??? I still cry about the fact my dead grandma’s jewelry box was stolen 10 years ago, I cannot imagine the pain of losing your entire life’s work.
So many issues with her mom but we only ever see the mom for one very brief phone call?
The story was fine, but the style of writing was awful. I won’t read this author’s books again.
Teagan is a fierce, unapologetic Olympic gold medalist whose career takes an unexpected hit after her attitude costs her a spot on Team USA. Trying to rebuild both her image and her future, she steps into a coaching role, attempting to find her footing again. But one impulsive night changes everything when she meets Quentin—charming, grounded, and impossible to forget.
What starts as a no-strings encounter quickly turns into something far more complicated when Teagan discovers she’s pregnant… and that Quentin is not only a professional baseball pitcher, but also her brother’s biggest rival.
From there, the story really shines.
Quentin completely stole my heart. He’s not your typical cocky sports MMC—he’s thoughtful, steady, and genuinely kind, especially as he steps up in a situation he never expected. His desire to build something real, even when Teagan keeps her guard up, made him incredibly easy to root for.
Teagan, on the other hand, is strong, stubborn, and deeply independent. I loved that she wasn’t softened or changed to fit the situation—her journey felt authentic as she struggled with control, vulnerability, and redefining what strength really looks like.
Their dynamic? So good. The banter is sharp, the chemistry is undeniable, and the emotional tension hits just right. Watching them go from strangers to something deeper—while navigating careers, family tension, and an unexpected pregnancy—felt both messy and meaningful in the best way.
I also really appreciated the found family elements and the way healing was woven into the story. There were moments that genuinely tugged at my heart, balanced perfectly with lighter, swoony scenes that made me smile.
If I had one small critique, it’s that I would’ve loved a bit more depth when it came to Teagan’s brother and his history with Quentin. That dynamic had a lot of potential that felt only lightly explored.
Overall, this was such a pleasant surprise. Emotional, romantic, and full of heart—with characters that feel real and easy to invest in.
If you love: ✨ Sports romance ✨ Accidental pregnancy done right ✨ Brother’s rival tension ✨ Strong, independent FMCs ✨ Soft, supportive MMCs
—this one is absolutely worth picking up.
A big thanks to the author and Goodgirls Pr for the ARC. I have read and this is my honest opinion.
This book is pure serotonin with a side of emotional chaos, and I devoured every page.
Teagan is a 24 year old gymnast with a temper she’s never quite learned to tuck away, and honestly, I loved her for it. She’s fierce, stubborn, and so used to fighting for her place that she doesn’t know how to stop swinging. When Team USA suspends her and her coach starts using her career as leverage, she’s forced to “retire”. She’s spiraling, angry, and absolutely not in the market for a man.
Then there’s Quentin Hayes, he’s 36, an MLB pitcher with a body built by discipline and a voice that slips into French when he’s flustered or turned on. (Yes, it’s as hot as it sounds.)
“Tu es si belle. Ma vie est belle grâce à toi.”
He’s also in a long‑running feud with Teagan’s brother, Ian, which makes their one impulsive night together the kind of mistake that should’ve stayed buried. The sports drama adds just the right amount of grit, especially with Ian and Quentin’s rivalry simmering in the background.
Except it doesn’t. Two pink lines later, they’re suddenly “friends.” Platonic. Totally casual. Nothing to see here.
The delusion is delicious.
Because the spice between them builds. Their chemistry simmers under every conversation, every accidental touch, every moment Quentin forgets he’s supposed to be keeping his distance because he’s born to be a caretaker. He cooks for her. He plays her favorite music without being asked. He listens, really listens, when she vents or snaps or tries to push him away. And when he murmurs something soft and devastating in French, Teagan melts faster than she wants to admit. She’s used to feeling like too much, like she’s too cold, or hardened but with Quentin she softens, only for him and their little blueberry.
Their dynamic is this perfect blend of tension, tenderness, and “we shouldn’t but we absolutely will.” Teagan’s sharp edges meet Quentin’s steady warmth, and watching her slowly trust him despite the pregnancy, despite her own fear of needing someone is the emotional heart of the story.
“We can’t live by what-ifs, mon coeur. We will deal with whatever happens, when it does.”
This is one of those sports romances where the spice is electric, the MMC is quietly devastating in the best way, and the FMC is fighting the world and her own heart at the same time, all in all this one is an absolute must‑read.
A huge thank you to Carlie Jean & Good Girls PR for the early copy!
Oh how I loved this book ❤️ This book really hit home for me as a former gymnast and a love for rock music 🎵 I have never related more to a character in a book than I did with this one 💋
These characters were so easy to love and relate to. Teagan’s love for gymnastics 🤸🏽and Quentin’s love for baseball ⚾️
Who knew a one night stand that turned into an accidental pregnancy would be a book i loved so much ❤️
Teagan 24 yrs old, who is a Olympic athlete as a gymnast decided it was a great idea to go out with her friends to have some much fun on a night out after getting kicked off the team, she didn’t realize she would have the night of her life with Quentin who she didn’t even know his name. She didn’t realize until after teaching a gymnastics class she would ever see him again until he comes in to pick up his niece Olivia from class.
Quentin 36 years old a professional baseball pitcher, doesn’t really know where life is gonna take him, after a car accident that left his shoulder not feeling completely better he is thinking about retirement but not sure what to do, well not until he meets Teagan have an amazing night with her and didn’t stop thinking about her, then he saw her and everything changed for him.
These two really tried hard to just be friends and wanted to be co parents but when something tragic happened to her place she ended up moving in with him. There are so many shared moments between these two and the chemistry just came so naturally for them. The build an amazing life together through her pregnancy and he does what he loves until it was his time to retire and let Teagan go after her dreams. 💗
Tropes Gymnast x baseball player Forced proximity Accidental pregnancy One night stand Caretaking Brothers rival
‘Perfect Twist’ by Carlie Jean is a contemporary sports romance and the 1st book in the Meet Your Match series. Thank you Carlie Jean and Good girls PR for the gifted ARC in exchange for my honest opinions.
This book can be described as:
⚾️ Sports Romance 🤸 Gymnast x Baseball Player ⚾️ Black Cat x Golden Retriever 🤸 Age Gap Romance ⚾️ One-Night Stand 🤸 Accidental Pregnancy ⚾️ Forced Proximity 🤸 Brother’s Rival
My honest opinions:
This book had a great mix of many tropes all woven into a really good story. The beginning started out pretty hot then the middle section was bit slower as they built their friendship and the tension grew. The constant denial for their relationship kinda bugged me throughout. It was putting me on edge, waiting for the story to pick up. But when it finally did… the payoff was that much sweeter!! Plus the MMC was so hot, had a deliciously, dirty mouth and held just the right amount of control in the spicy scenes. HOT! 3🌶️
Usually, I am not a fan of the Black Cat x Golden Retriever type characters. The FMC is so frosty and I kept hoping for her to thaw out. But gosh, do I love how she stands up for herself, especially to her brother, her coaches, and anyone who stands in her way. I did really love the protective nature of the MMC and together their playful banter was top-notch! In the end, the themes for these characters were perfect! Also, it was quite refreshing that they communicated clearly, like adults… no miscommunication trope!
Finally, I really liked the cast of side characters. They really added some depth to the story and created a great jumping off point for continuing the series. This was my first time reading this author and I will look forward to reading more in the future. Overall, I would rate this book 4⭐️’s.
Teagan is an Olympic gymnastic gold medalist who is preparing for her second Olympics. However, given her bad attitude and unfiltered mouth, her coach kicks her off the team ruining her chance of attending USA nationals the following summer. In an attempt to change her image, she takes a coach position at the Elite Sports Academy where she will coach girls of all ages. She relies on her fridens, who are denial professional sport players as well, along with her MLB pitcher brother for emotional support as she navigates her new normal.
One night out with her friends, she stumbles across a handsome man named Quenton. After a passionate night together, they go their separate ways, sharing no information.
A few weeks later, Teagan leans she is pregnant as a result of her passionate night with Quentin. Pieces start to come together and she realizes he is the star pitcher on her brother‘s team, whom her brother can’t stand.
Quentin is trying to come to terms with the possibility of retiring and is hit with the news of a pregnancy with the woman he can’t get out of his head.
How will they navigate their professional sports careers and parenthood?
I was very surprised by this book! I am not one to read accidental pregnancy stories but Carlie Jean did a very nice job with this trope. I love how fierce and independent Teagan is and what she stands for in professional sports. Quentin is also a very likable character and not like typical baseball player MMC. He gives off such likable vibes that I instantly was hooked. If you enjoy sports romance and accidental pregnancy you’ll love this book! I will be back for more book by Carlie Jean!
Thank you Good Girls PR and Carlie Jean for an ARC copy of Perfect Twist!
4.5 ⭐️ Read First I want to thank the author Carlie Jean and Good Girls PR for giving me an eARC of this book!! I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the romance between Teagan and Quentin in this book. I didn't like how Teagan acted in the beginning of this book but then getting more into the book I started like her more. Felt sad for Teagan not having her parents in her life but I was glad when her grandparents were alive they took care of her and her brother Ian. And I hated Teagan and Ian's mother and how she treated them throughout this book. Loved Teagan being a coach when she was forced to retire from the gymnastics team. Like how Teagan and her brother Ian were there for each other throughout this book. I also loved Quentin's brother in law Ryker and his sister Camille and also his niece Olivia throughout this book and how they were with both Quentin and Teagan. And I also loved Quentin being a uncle to Olivia and I loved their time together in this book. I also felt sorry for Quentin and everything going in his life too. Loved Teagan and her best friends Kaya and Clara's friendship throughout this book and also how they were there for each other too. Loved that when Quentin found out Teagan was pregnant he wanted to take care of her and the baby. Loved how Teagan was with Olivia as well. Loved how Quentin took care of Teagan and their baby throughout this book especially when he cooked for her and also had her stay with him at his place. I also loved how they called their baby Blueberry throughout this book. And I was so happy that they decided to stay together. And Loved how Teagan stood up for other women in this book. And I was so happy that they got an happy ending together with their baby and I recommed this Sports romance book. And I can't wait to read other books by Carlie Jean.
This book had a couple things that I really enjoy in a story like an accidental pregnancy and a strong, independent female lead. I’ve never really read a book that had either of these sports in it so that was new to me but fun still. I do feel like there were some subjects that could have been more in depth to help understand some of the characters and their actions better. I do love when there are rivals in a story so that was fun too. I really enjoyed Quintin, he really seemed to care for Teagan from the start. He shows up when she needs him even when she tries to do everything on her own. The age gap part is a bit iffy for me, I tend to like an age gap when it’s like 20 years but a 36 and 24 year old is a bit unsettling to me for some reason. But that’s neither here nor there and one of my own personal issues. I like that Teagan doesn’t hide the fact that she’s pregnant from her brother or friends. I do understand that the paternity has to be a secret until the end of the book so there is a conflict and resolution. But there were moments that the brother saw Q and Teagan interact when she could have said yea we’ve met before but she just plays it off. There was spice of course, and it was quite explicit and descriptive. It is spread out throughout the story though so it’s a bit of a slow burn. And of course it’s one of those, this happened but we’re going to pretend it didn’t and go on about our lives. Overall it was a good story that I mostly enjoyed. This was my first book by this author and I would be open to reading more by her.
I absolutely loved Perfect Twist! It’s the kind of romance that pulls you in immediately and refuses to let go. From the very first chapters, the story delivers an emotional hook built around an unexpected life change that forces two people into close proximity, creating both tension and undeniable chemistry. The combination of sportsworld pressure, personal setbacks, and a surprise situation gives the plot a fresh and engaging foundation.
What really stood out to me was how naturally the relationship developed. The dynamic between the two leads felt authentic, balancing vulnerability, humor, and slow-burn attraction. The emotional stakes were high, especially as they navigated complicated circumstances while trying to maintain boundaries that clearly didn’t want to stay in place. The “friends-but-more” tension and forced living situation added so much depth and made every interaction feel meaningful.
I also appreciated the strong character growth. Both leads face major life changes, and the way they learn to rely on each other while still holding onto their independence made the story feel grounded. The writing had a great mix of heartfelt moments, lighter banter, and swoony scenes that kept me smiling throughout.
Overall, Perfect Twist is a heartfelt, addictive romance with plenty of emotion, chemistry, and satisfying development. If you love stories with unexpected beginnings, strong emotional arcs, and a relationship that slowly but surely wins you over, this one is definitely worth the read. Highly recommend!
✨𝒯𝒽ℴ𝓊𝑔𝒽𝓉𝓈✨ 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻'𝘀 one-night stand led to an unexpected pregnancy. When Teagan discovers Quentin is a famous baseball player and her brother's teammate, things become complicated.
𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻 exudes a badass vibe with her black cat energy that I find irresistible. Her no-nonsense attitude adds to her allure and makes her a great character. Despite her parents abandoning her and her brother, Teagan managed to excel in gymnastics thanks to her determination. This made it all the more challenging for her to share the news of her child's father's identity with her brother because he dislikes Quentin and she didn't want to ruin their close bond.
𝗜 couldn't help but fall for Quentin Laurent, for how sweet and protective he is towards Teagan. They both tried to maintain boundaries in their co-parenting arrangement, but their mutual attraction made it increasingly difficult to stay focused.
𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. I loved the chemistry between the main characters, their playful banter, and their steamy moments that were impossible to resist. If you are a fan of age gap and unexpected pregnancy romance, "𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘁" is a must-read. Many thanks to the author and Good Girls PR for this read.
I don't know where to start... 🙈 This book is perfect. I already knew it would be when I saw the announcement. Just the key tropes... 🤩 Brother's rival, accidental pregnancy, and age gap... I just knew it.
And OMG, Ryker and Camille 🤩 Yessss. I loved seeing them again. And not just a bit, they have first side characters places 😍 I was hoping that Quentin would get a book. I don't want to say too much, so I won't spoil anything for everyone who hasn't read "Keep Me" yet. It's not necessary for this book to have read it, it's "just" Q's sister Camille's story 🤣
The chemistry between Q and Teagan... Just wow. I'm not saying it was love at first sight for Q, but I'm also not saying it wasn't 😎 If he could have tied her up and taken her with him, like caveman style, I think he would have done it. So back in stone age times 🤣 He's a poster man of a golden retriever and super protective 😍
I loved the moral in this book, and I'm not talking about accidental pregnancies, but the trouble Teagan had as a woman in sports. Sure, there are thousands of female athletes around the world, and still, they get treated differently from their male colleagues.
Thanks to the author and Good Girls PR for trusting me with an ARC 🩷
This story had so many interesting details that I enjoyed reading about, a gymnastics representation, baseball sports, an FMC with a strong personality that takes nothing from anyone and that’s so unapologetic about how damn good she is and an MMC that’s so mature, unreasonable caring, speak French (every time that he said mon coeur I swooned) and loving
Sadly for me the chemistry didn’t work, do I think they would have had that steaming one night stand? For sure but as a one time thing… as a couple? Not so much, their personalities are so different and in any scene I didn’t felt the “opposite attraction” kind of vibe
Do I think they would be great parents? Hell yes, they would be there for blueberry and would be the best parents but as a friends, like they could rock the co-parenting thing but as couple I felt it a little bit forced.
Then there were several aspects of both of their lives that were mentioned but didn’t really developed and they were pretty important for their backstory so I felt like they were throw it out there as a second thought and no as a key part of the story and that felt off.
I really thing that this story can be appreciated, it really has several fun and exciting elements but for me something as important as chemistry really kept me from enjoying it as a whole
One night stand Secret romance Sports romance Close proximity Roommates Accidental pregnancy Brother’s rival Age gap Black Cat x Golden Retriever
Quentin and Teagan
She is a world class gymnast trying to get back on her Olympic bound team after a bad showing. He is a professional baseball player who is her brother’s rival.
The story was well written. The frustrations and anxiety of being professional athletes was very relatable. The family issues were real.
Teagan being the independent outspoken woman that she is, finds herself kicked off her gymnastics team. She has to prove to her former team that she is capable of being what they need. She has trouble trusting. It was a long road to travel. A pregnancy is not what she saw happening. It was quickly accepted. A pause not a stop.
Quentin is getting older and has started thinking about the next step. His younger rival is a pain but he is having a phenomenal year. The way he went all in with Teagan and little “Blueberry” makes him a keeper.
There was good character growth. As their relationship develops they become stronger and more trusting. Quentin allowed Teagan to move at her own pace and learn to trust him. He showed a lot of patience.
The story was cute. The banter was fun and hot. Quentin definitely had a dirty mouth. A very good start for the series,
Tropes: Accidental Pregnancy Brother's Rival/Teammate Found Family Gymnast FMC x Baseball Pitcher MMC ONS to Lovers
It was so wonderful to read about Carlie Jean again! I've missed her writing!
Teagan is an Olympic gymnast who is blackmailed into leaving Team USA. After a night of letting loose before planning to rejoin the team, she ends up getting pregnant by her brother's rival.
Quentin wants to start his own family, but he's been burned once and is afraid to try again. Meeting Teagan feels like fate and a second chance. However, Teagan isn't interested at first. Still, with the baby on the way, Quentin is determined to keep them both in his life—even if it's just platonically.
These two were honestly incredibly cute! Their banter and flirting were hilarious and adorable. I felt heartbroken for Teagan, but I was so happy that Quentin and their baby were able to heal her and her soul.
Seeing Teagan accept her new family and realize that they were enough was truly beautiful.
Quentin is an amazing person, and I'm so happy he finally got his HEA. He truly deserves it.
While I loved that Ian (Teagan's brother) and Quentin ended up getting along great, I wish there had been more development in their relationship. I wanted to know why Ian hated Quentin so much, but that was never explored. Regardless, I'm glad Ian found peace and a new circle of friends and family to call his own.
I'm excited for the rest of the series! So many new characters were introduced, along with a fun Easter egg. 🤭
After reading the latest Carlie Jean book, Perfect Twist, I think my new favorite tropes are brother’s rival and baseball romances. There’s just something about baseball players. They have a softer side but still bring that “don’t touch her” energy when it matters. These men make me melt every time.
Perfect Twist follows Teagan, a gymnast who is mistreated and ultimately forced into retirement, and Quentin, a professional pitcher and her brother’s rival. What starts as a one-night stand with no names quickly turns into an accidental pregnancy and eventually something much deeper. This book was so captivating that I gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars. The beginning felt a little slow to me, which is why it didn’t quite reach a full 5 stars, but overall I absolutely loved it and couldn’t put it down.
The story also touches on the theme of an absent parent quite frequently. I really felt for Teagan and her brother. As a parent myself, I can’t imagine leaving my children and only showing up for the big moments. It’s the small, everyday moments that truly matter and shape who we become. I was so happy when Teagan finally stood up to her mother and chose to cut ties to take care of the family she does have.
Thank you to Good Girls PR and Carlie Jean for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. I can’t wait for book two in The Meet Your Match Series.
I remember the time I thought I didn't like accidental pregnancy romances (silly me) and you'd ask yourself: why was that? Because I didn't know!!! I didn't know how the mmc saying "get your hands off the mother of my child" would have me absolutely on the floor swooning, giggling and kicking my feet, okay. It's practically an out of body experience. So yeah these two were hot capital H. But can we talk about how I need Quentin to actually be the father of my baby (I will never have one, but that's beside the point). That man is a walking green flag and the way he takes care of Teagan... I am so obsessed with him. All the little things he did to make sure she was taken care of... And Teagan, my girl. So used to doing everything on her own, but she didn't have to anymore, and I love that for her. In the end she's still a BAMF though, I mean she did that sht (I'm not gonna say what, you'll have to find out, but go her!!!!). She's an incredible mother, they both are amazing parents. Oh and I loved the little cameos we got (I miss the RLU folks!!!). Can't wait to see where the next book in the series takes us!
Arc Review First off I would like to thank @good.girls.pr & @carliejeanwrites for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Teagan & Quentin Y'all this book was absolutely a perfect 10/10! I loved everything about this book, from the way they met to the way they negative becoming parents. I admire the strength and compassion Quentin had and the way he showed up for Teagan and showed his love in all his actions and not just words. I love how tough but resilient Teagan is and the way she works hard for her dreams & her willingness to put her Daughter first. The foundation Teagan & Quentin built their relationship on was beautiful and built to withstand everything.
5/5 Recommend this book. Y'all I was so excited when I found out that we were getting another book with a female star athlete & they way Carlie writing is so flawless and smooth the story just flows and you can feel the humor and knowledge flowing through the pages and it's just the right amount. I'm so excited for this series and can't wait for book two.
This book has been my most anticipated for the year! I was so happy that I got an ARC (even pre-ordered the e book weeks ago!) I devoured this book in 2 days. I dont even know where to start. it was so good. the way that Quentin never took Teagans personality person and never wanted her to change.
After going into 'retirement' before making the next Olympics Teagan needs to blow off some steam. At the same time Quentin is feeling like he's at a crossroad with his life and his friends and family both think he needs to go out more. Thats how they end up meeting, he told himself he was done with ONS's but that he'd do anything she wants, and she wasnt looking for more than one night. After shutting him down Teagan didnt think she'd ever see him again. Yeah that didnt last. 2 months later shes told shes pregnant and she never even let him give her his name! The next day she runs into him and the way theyre lives are connected start stacking up. First off there's the baby, 2nd he's one of her students uncle and last he has the spot her older brother Ian wants!
First off, thank you to Good Girls PR for the ARC of Perfect Twist.
Following an olympic gymnast and an MLB player through their lifelong entanglement was an adventure. The setup of this novel was fast paced and we immediately dive into the action of the storylines progression. However, it was almost so fast paced that I wish we slowed it down a bit. Teagan and Quentin's relationship felt forced rather than fluid, leaving me questioning if the baby (not a spoiler) is the only reason they felt feelings for one another past the initial lust. the timeline felt a little bit clunky and often times felt like there was no passion behind the story on paper as it felt like a combination of micro tropes that are 'trendy' right now. Overall, it is clear that the author knows their way around writing a book and I would be curious to check out their other work. In theory, I should have enjoyed this one more and it's totally ok that i didn't because it will be just what others are looking for.
This one had me from the FMC and MMC's meet cute and did not let go. The mix of accidental pregnancy, forced proximity, and brother’s rival teammate was a great balance
I really loved how this story balanced vulnerability, and romance. The FMC gives total black cat energy, guarded, independent, a little prickly—but underneath all that, she’s dealing with so much uncertainty in gymnastics career. Experiecing her slowly soften (just a little) and let someone in felt so real. And Quentin Laurent? Whew. The ultimate golden retriever hero to her black cat. He’s PROTECTIVE, steady, patient, and quietly devoted from the start—even when they’re both insisting this is “just for the baby.” The chemistry is constant and simmering, especially once they move in together. Every shared space, every almost-touch, every moment they pretend not to feel something? So good. If you love surprise pregnancy, forced proximity, and black cat x golden retriever vibes, this one hits.

Oh how I devoured this book! I have been wanting a Quentin book since he was first introduced in his sister’s book and it did not disappoint cause this book was everything, Teagan and Quentin were amazing characters I love them both so dearly
Teagan is an Olympic gymnast who’s coach is forcing her to retire after a bad meet but there’s definitely more to the story. Teagan is an amazing fmc I love her so much plus her playlist!? Umm incredible she has excellent taste in music. After being force forced to retire Teagan is now a gymnast coach to all ages at an academy. I feel for her and brother cause their mom is just not a great mom but at least they have each other. I love Teagan so much and her bestfriends who’s also amazing friends
Teagan and Quentin met at a club their friends drag them to and they end up having a one night stand. Quentin is also Teagan brother rival/teammate which neither of them knew about. The chemistry between these two is just amazing I couldn’t get enough of them and the tension with the slow burn!? Whewww but I also loved them becoming friends and getting to know each other
Quentin my guy, oh how I love him. Quentin is the star pitcher for his baseball team and he loves it plus he also loves cooking and baking in his free time, Quentin is also recovering from an accident him and his brother in law got into a couple months ago, I’ve been interested in Quentin’s story for 2 years after his sisters book and learning about his royal family disowning him. Quentin is just amazing and caring I love him so much
These two are just everything and more I love them real bad, and how they just love and support each other like no other I’m so glad everything worked out for them. I can’t wait for more of this series, this was a wonderful start to it and I can’t wait to see who’s next.
Thank You So Much for giving me this incredible arc !💐🖤
I was in a full-on reading slump… picked this up… and suddenly I’m ignoring responsibilities and losing sleep 😅
⭐️ 4.25 stars minimal spice… but WHEN it hits?? yeah… 🥵😏
✨ gymnast FMC with a career-ending moment ✨ broody, worn-down MLB pitcher MMC ✨ accidental chaos → life-changing connection ✨ “we didn’t plan this… but we’re keeping it” energy 🫐
Teagan is strong, stubborn, and refuses to be silenced—even when it costs her everything.
Quentin? He’s used to control… until Teagan completely flips his world upside down.
And the way this man shows up for her?? Patient. Intentional. Down BAD.
Watching Teagan let go of her past and choose something better for herself?? yeah… that hit.
I came for a quick read… stayed for the emotional damage and the soft moments 🥹
🚨 if you love: unexpected pregnancy athlete romance grumpy x strong FMC protective MMC energy
READ THIS.
Who else loves when the MMC falls first and HARD?? 👀
I absolutely DEVOURED this book in one sitting… sleep be damned.
Teagan, a 24 year old gymnast, is coming off a bad meet and forced retirement. her friends dragged her out of a night of fun where she quite literally bumps into “baseball guy” and they have a night that they both won’t forget.
Quentin, a 36 year old pitcher, is just recovering from an injury from an accident and doesn’t know what this season holds besides a rivalry with the kid coming for his starting position.
a few weeks after her unforgettable night Teagan gets the news that changes her life, she is pregnant and now has to track down the father.
The chemistry between Q and Teagan is freaking electric! they try to fight it, but it’s inevitable. From the forced proximity to their undeniable attraction to the way Q is so attentive and caring of Teagan and blueberry’s needs had me SWOONING.
I need more of Q and you need to add this to your TBR immediately!!
