Knot The Way I break: omegaverse reverse harem/why choose romance

Rate this book
I frost cupcakes by day and sleep with knives by night. Scars don’t scare me—I earned mine. What does scare me is the man who made them.

When my family’s killer escapes prison, I don’t run. I walk straight into the den of the only monsters in Morbid more dangerous than he four unhinged alphas who scent-match me on sight…and decide I’m theirs.

Alexi’s command feels like law. Ashe is steel wrapped in calm. Declan is the ghost at my back. And Casian? He grins like sin and thinks bleeding is foreplay.

They promise protection; I promise not to break. But safety isn't the point anymore. I don’t want to hide behind them—I want to hunt with them. Because the man stalking me wants “sweet little Ruelle.” And I grew up. Into the monster he made me.

As the body count rises and the taunts hit closer to home, the pack and I turn the town into a trap. Loving four beautiful monsters should be the worst idea I’ve ever had. It might be the only reason I live long enough to make a choice.

He’s coming for me.

And Gods help him.

Knot the Way I Break is a reverse-harem/why-choose romantic lightly dark romance featuring morally-grey alphas, found family, and a scarred, feral heroine. Recommended for 18+

Missed Opportunity

I hate to leave less than 5 stars because I absolutely LOVE Crosbie's omegaverse books! I've reread all of them multiple times and I wasn't planning on leaving a review, but the grammer mistakes and errors on this one bothered me too much to stay quiet. This book has high potential but missed the mark.

Strong fmc
Sexy, slightly unhinged pack members

Possible Spoilers below:

The baby scene in the hospital. The packs in the waiting room was written like they were all one big pack and wasn't really fleshed out. I understand the point was to show just how nervous Rue was, but Declan's pov is oddly stilted and almost impersonal. When Rue goes back with Riven to meet the baby, it's hard to follow. It's hard to describe, but like if the reader is standing in the room watching what is happening, parts are missing. You have Rue sitting down in the chair looking at the baby to somehow the baby is holding her finger(?) somehow with no explanation of how this occurred. Like the scene was rushed, and you're left wondering if Rue tried gently brushing her fingers across the baby's cheek or finger causing her to grab Rue's finger and hold it. Instead it goes from Rue sitting, to everyone in awe of the baby holding her finger.

In the pov and chapter leading up to the pillow fight, when Declan and Rue are at Rue's house there are name mistakes, instead of Cassian and Declan, the author put Vaughn and Ronan... during Cassian's pov directly after that (page 130ish) most of dinner and pillow fight scene is written in severe shorthand which is confusing and happens again later. Like the ideas were written quickly for Crosbie to remember what to fill in, but the sentences were missed and weren't fleshed out. It was very jarring and broke the flow of the storyline. My brain was trying to add fillers to the one word sentences to make the paragraphs make sense and it was a struggle.

I'm not sure if editing just missed these issues or if it was a rush to get this book released, but there easily should be another 15 ish pages added to fix the shorthand pages. Honestly it was a disappointment because I loved the idea of Rue being a bada** survivor and having a equally bada**, slightly unhinged pack. The tie in with the og omegas (Fallon, Violet and Odette) made me squeal with joy.

I don't mean to bash the author in any way, but it's like the editor gave up and approved this for release without reading half the book. I was super excited and counted down the days for this book to be released and I read it at midnight on the day it came it on KU and was both confused and sad by the results. I will still come back and read all the books by Crosbie but I doubt I will revisit this one again unless it undergoes some editing.,

Didn’t disappoint

I must say this one has to be my fav out of the other books loved those to but this one was just even more exciting to read. Rue is an omega who’s been through a horrible trauma but refuses for it to take control of her life, that night when a psychopath took her whole family away she vowed to not be helpless again. She was strong, she was ready to fight. When 4 alphas were sent to protect her she discovered they were all her scent matches and which made them a 100% more fierce. Loved this series hate that’s its over.

disappointed

Very disappointed- I remember liking the other 2 books, but this one was just flat. No real relationship building, and very disjointed. Also - the killer was able to escape prison, remain free for quite some time, kill 2 people, take surveillance photos and leave threats - but they find him freaking out and scared hiding in some cabin - does not add up. Also as others mentioned there are a lot of mistakes.

Get an editor, stat

I took off one star for getting one alphas name wrong and then I took another off for getting another alphas name wrong. On a book this short, mistakes like this shouldn’t happen. Otherwise, I’ll probably forget about this book fairly easily. The writing was sloppy, the story was badly done, and all the characters were forgettable. The only good thing going for it was that it was on KU and I didn’t waste any real money.

this feels worse than a poorly written fanfiction. typos (spelling AND grammar) galore; continuity problems; boring writing; tense swaps; some sentences just don’t even make sense. Also not a fan of having so many POVs in one chapter. I regret wasting an hour of my life reading some of this book.

lots of potential

I really loved the story! There’s some major editing that needs to be done, but otherwise I am glad to know Rue’s story.

This was a pretty good read. I enjoyed the psychos. I like the plot. And got to revisit some other characters, which was a nice touch.

Love!

Such a cute, dark omegaverse that really has the feels. I know there are mistakes some worse than others, but it's easy to figure out. I enjoyed these characters and their stories. It's a quick, cute read with all the darkness we love.
