This story was absolutely heartbreaking and all too real. So many women suffer in abusive relationships every year and not all of them find their way out of them. I have never wanted a happily ever after for a couple as badly as I did for Samantha and Ben.

Beyond the abuse there are also a lot of beautiful and downright sexy parts to this story too, I think Klepp did a great job balancing that out....however this book is on the long side.

Do I recommend it? Absolutely, I just advise readers that if you do choose to read Remnants of wreckage that they please do so with caution. Go in knowing this isn't an easy read and be prepared to absolutely be wrecked emotionally.

I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Emily has this uncanny knack of delivering stories that just hit you with everything.

Our FMC manages to escape an abusive, mentally and physically relationship. Unfortunately, when she does manage to escape and not without bruises, she can’t escape the nightmares that come from years of abuse. Her long lost best friends’ try to glue her broken pieces together, but they are drawn into the fight or flight with her. Her one and only love learns just what she went through and the emotions flow.

As a reader we are drawn into their lives, the reality far out weighing what a person perceives if they haven’t been through such an ordeal themselves. Her writing is descriptive, with effective visuals from the start and you gain an inept knowledge of understanding how domestic violence impacts not only that one person but the people around who love you.

Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Have a seat, buckle up, & hold on tight cause this will be one wild ride. After an unfortunate but amicable break up with Ben, Samantha goes out on the town with her friends Alice and Lucas. As the night is coming to an end Alice begs her to go to one more bar. Reluctantly Samantha agrees. That is the night she met Paul. From the very first page of Sam’s story you are sucked in. I literally could NOT stop reading. And often found myself wondering what was gonna happen next. When I wasn’t reading this book, I was thinking about it. The world’s creation and character development in this book is unlike any other. You don’t feel as if you’re reading it, you literally feel like you are right there observing as everything plays out before your eyes. As someone who is a DV survivor know that the content in this story is told in grave detail. It is raw and brutally honest. You can tell a lot of research into DV was put into this. As well as how some cope with DV and SA. I’d find myself in fear for Sam, I cried for Sam, but that ending!! That ending healed me for her in the best way possible. This book wrecked me and then put the pieces back together one by one.

⚠️ ⚠️ PLEASE TAKE THE AUTHOR’S NOTE & TRIGGER / CONTENT WARNINGS SERIOUSLY ⚠️ ⚠️

This story is very trigger heavy

When Sam found the courage to leave her ex, Paul I was applauding her so loudly. I can image that it takes a lot to leave someone who has such a strong hold on someone. Sam's ex, Paul is a douche. Luckily for Sam, she finds support on her journey to reclaim herself with Ben, Lucas, and Alice.

If you are familiar with Emily's books, then, you know she does not stray away from the dark, heavy topics. Yet, through the trauma her characters endure, they are survivors. I have read lots of Emily's books. However, I do have to admit that this book was is hard to read but important. I have never been a DV survivor, but I do think that someone who could find this book mentally therapeutic. It is raw.

Read your trigger warnings.
This one contains HEAVY amounts of trauma. I’m talking about how you better book your therapy appointment before you start.
This book is absolutely amazing. If you don’t read the trigger warnings…well, sucks to suck. I need therapy after this and I’m not even Sammie. The utter amount of trauma homegirl goes through bc of that cock wobble Paul, is unmatched.

Ben and Lucas would make the perfect man if combined into one. Alice is legit the best hype girl like she’s in the corner rooting Sam on while must girls would be trying to fight. 🤣

Make sure you buckle up for this one, because it is quite the ride. But hey, it’s a HEA!

Im so angry, devastated, and yet, satisfied with the resolution. Well somewhat satisfied at the solution. Samantha went through so very much. This book wasnt hard on the emotions in the gory, horrifying, s*x trafficking way of this authors other books. However, it was horrifying and harsh and terrible and all the words because its something so simple, so easy to ignore, and that in itself is terrifying.

How Paul treated San was disgusting but like everything else, it didn't start out the way. Its so scary how Paul got into Sam's head. He was so sweet and loving to her just to flip the switch when he had her under his control. The worst part is? She knew it!! She suspected things were wrong, which made her trauma even worse!!! She questioned everything. Then when she finally got out, finally went for help, the police were USELESS!!! I was so angry at Detective King and the stupid judge. Every day the justice system fails victims of DV and its maddening.

Another amazing thing about this book is how it shows it can take a small thing to give the victim the push they need to leave. Ben was there through it all. While he fell apart, he leaned on his friends to help him through. Bringing a victim out of the cycle of abuse isn't easy but it cant be done alone. I love that Ben was vulnerable with his support system. Alice and Lucas are also amazing! Because without them, both Ben and Sam would have fallen apart. The support system is crucial in healing and moving on.

By the end, I was a mess. I was emotionally drained. This book is terrifying in its reality. It shows how monsters hide until they have what they want. They don't just prey on the broken. They prey on anyone. Small tests to show them what they can get away with. It sends shivers down my spine thinking about it.

While Sam and her group went through hell and back, she made it to the other side. Not perfect, still hurting and working through things, but she made it. Its a hope for all those suffering there is an other side. There is light, however small, at the end of the tunnel. Masterfully written. Painfully accurate.

Where do I even start. This book will have you feeling so many emotions and make you want to go give everyone in it a big hug and tell them how amazing they are. Sammie, Lucas and Angela went to hell and back. Sam and Angela more than others. Ben and Alice always there to hold everything together. And can’t forget the POS Paul. I really hope reading this story brings awareness to the world. One of Emily’s best books yet.

This books follows Sam on her relationship journey with Paul and a DV situation and finding the courage to leave. From there we see her get thru her trauma she suffered with help from Ben, Lucas and Alice.

The spice was good as always with Emily’s books 🔥🔥🔥. The trauma hits hard though so prepare as there were parts that even had me like Oo that’s rough.

!!!warning!!! Heavy Triggers

this book was packed full but so relatable now as a DV survivor myself I may never of gone through that much but all dv is still just as bad This book made me feel heard and listened to so much. it also outlines that healing isn't just as simple as going to a therapist or snapping out of triggers. There is so much more involved to healing from dv. all thought this book is very dark, and I would only read if you are okay with all the triggers as it goes deep into it even includes child loss as well.

this book is about DV it is about a woman called sam who meets a man at a bar and thinks he's this charming gentleman, but beneath that mask is a vile monster. Sam endures years of abuse where she is isolated and has no connection to that outside world. until one day, she saves herself by escaping and call the one and only person she knew would save her Ben, alice and lucas help her heal and protects her so much they helps Sam deal with all the trauma she goes through daily due to the abuse he puts her through. but he's still after her tracking her every move. Will she escape the monster, or will she finally be free and rid of him eventually.

This is a very well done dark romance that taps into some tough topics. Sam the MFC is in a relationship with Paul but he's very abusive and manipulative. Paul really breaks her spirit and has her convinced that she deserves punishment. This is a very emotional story of survival and healing. It does end happily.

Remnants and Wreckage by Emily Klepp is one of those books that is haunting, heartbreaking, and completely unforgettable. Emily Klepp is one of those authors whose books can be heavy to read at times and yet, I haven't found a single one of her books that I haven't loved. But, no matter the book, you have to always pay attention to the trigger warnings.

For the last three years Sammi has been in a horribly abusive relationship, but the day that she sees her old boyfriend Ben in that restaurant it all changes. Sammi has always been in love with Ben, the day that he told her that he had to leave for work broke her heart but never took that love away.

Ben, never stopped loving Sammi. He'd always been in love with her. Four years away hadn't changed his feelings. Seeing her again in that restaurant just reminded him how much he loved her. But, seeing those bruises on her, he knew right away that she wasn't in a good situation. And that night, when Sammi finally got the courage to run, after the guy Ben had seen Sammi with had tried to kill her, Ben was there to go and get her and be there for her.

After the last three years of H$ll and hearing Paul tell her time and time again that she didn't deserve anything and no one would ever love a fattie like her, Sammi honestly believes that she doesn't believe that she really deserves to be happy. But, slowly Ben works to show her that she is beautiful and deserves to be happy, loved, and so much more. Ben shows Sammi the love that he never stopped feeling for her.

Soon Sammi's best friends Alice and Lucas are moving in with Ben and Sammi. They not only want to reconnect with Sammi but they also want to help ease her trauma and they also want to help keep her safe from her ex.

After Sammi's ex escapes from a prison bus on his way to prison, Sammi, Ben, Alice, and Lucas find themselves running and trying to hide from Paul. They stay together, trying to keep out of Paul's grasp. While on the run from Sammi's ex, they play a game of Truth or Dare, and that night things take a turn, and the dynamics between them change in a way they all want.

In the end, Paul gets what he has coming to him and Ben and Sammie who were married before they went on the run along with Alice and Lucas who continue to live with Sammi and Ben all get their HEA.

Their HEAs don't come without emotional, mental, and of course physical trauma piled on top of what they had to begin with.

This book is such an important book that brings such an important light to domestic violence and the true trauma that it not only causes to the person who is going through it but to the friends and family around them. But, be sure that this book is not going to impact your own mental health.

I myself am a survivor of domestic violence and while my own domestic violence was limited mainly to the mental and psychological and I was able to get out just as the physical started. I realize now, I let it go on far too long. But, I thought I was alone. I felt isolated and like no one would believe me. I felt exactly the way that Sammi felt and it took me 10 years to finally get out.

I don't say this to try and elicit sympathy or anything. I say this because I want you to know that you are not alone. You will be believed. If you are in an abusive relationship reach out to anyone, if the cops will not help, then reach out to someone online, reach out to a friend, find a way, anyway. You will be believed and there will always be someone who will believe you. You don't deserve to suffer through this.

Whenever I pick up a book by Emily Klepp, I know that I need to brace myself because it is going to be a bumpy ride. I don’t know if I have read one yet that didn’t have a main character that had been through some major trauma. But this one was different. To be clear, the FMC had been through something so traumatic and was dealing with major issues throughout the book. But what she has been through seemed so real because it is something that happens every day. It hit so hard because it is something I see so often and my heart went out to not just the FMC, but to the other main characters (there are two central main characters and two other characters who are bigger than side characters but less than the two central characters). Everyone has to figure out how to be there for the woman who has been through hell and had her entire being altered through what she had been through. This book was really powerful to me and hit very hard.

Like many of Klepp’s books, this is all about the characters. Sammie has been abused and conditioned as a part of that abuse. She fell into a relationship after her true love had moved away and got pulled in to a point that she was not able to find her way out. She got to a point where she actually saves herself by leaving, having people there for her to lean on. Ben never stopped loving Sammie and knew he had to be there when she needed him. He saves her and protects her, showing his love through his actions. Alice and Lucas are her people that were there and attempted to take care of her went she started to get pulled into the relationship with Paul. Ben, Alice, and Lucas realize the struggles to be there for someone that has been through what Sammie has and it is done so well.

This is not a light, sweet story. But it is one that dealt with something strong and real. It was definitely spicy and one that showed a found family coming together in the face of trauma. My one issue was the way that the criminal charges were dealt with at the beginning. DV cases often end up with charges being dropped (I deal with them all of the time), but I would never be okay with a DV case with physical evidence being dropped because it is he said/ she said. That made me so angry because it is not something that would happen where I am. But this story was very good and very emotional.

This is an emotional rollercoaster!

Samantha has been in an abusive relationship for the past three years, but everything changes when she sees her ex, Ben, at a restaurant. Sammi's boyfriend is angered by her interaction with Ben and takes it out on her as soon as they get home. Luckily, she manages to escape him and run to Ben, but she isn't free of Paul yet. As Ben and Sammi's friends, Alice and Lucas, help her to heal and start to rebuild her life, Paul comes looking for her. The four are all entangled in the dangerous mission to keep Sammi safe from Paul, but will they manage to evade him or will he win and take Sammi away forever?

Emily Klepp writes such amazing stories of survival. Sammi is a strong, intelligent woman, but this story really highlights how anyone can find themselves in an abusive situation and how difficult it can be to leave. It also shows how the abuse isn't just physical, but also emotional and mental. Paul tore Sammi down in various ways for years until she believed that his violence was her fault. The way that Sammi took time to accept that it wasn't her fault and to name the SA for what it truly was showed in such a realistic way how much the trauma can change the way someone thinks. Someone in an abusive relationship can feel completely alone and isolated from the people who care about them making it that much harder to leave.

I loved how Ben, Alice, and Lucas were so supportive of Sammi no matter how she chose to cope. They were all such amazing friends to each other with their support, but also when they pushed each other to truly face their emotions and trauma. They knew that suppressing the emotions and trauma would not help with the healing process and helped each other to face it in a safe environment. I also loved how they all went for individual and group therapy so that they had the tools to deal with their trauma and triggers. Therapy can be so helpful for so many people and I love how this book emphasizes that.

We follow Samantha, who is trapped in a relationship with Paul, a man who begins as charming but quickly reveals himself to be controlling, manipulative, and monstrously abusive. The first chapters are hard to read—Paul’s emotional, physical, and sexual abuse is described with unflinching detail. The violence escalates after Samantha unexpectedly runs into Ben, her childhood best friend and ex-boyfriend, in a restaurant. Paul’s suspicion and jealousy ignite his worst rage, leading to one of the most harrowing scenes of the book where he tries to kill her. Samantha manages to escape only by fighting back—smashing a lamp over his head and running barefoot into the night.

Her chance meeting with June, a stranger who rescues her off the roadside, and her desperate phone call to Ben set her on the path to freedom. The reunion between Sam and Ben is tender but heartbreaking—she’s shattered, bruised, terrified, and convinced she isn’t worth saving.

The book’s most devastating subplot involves pregnancy loss as a direct result of Paul’s abuse. This adds another layer of heartbreak to Samantha’s journey but also reinforces how much she has endured and survived.

Paul’s presence looms even after Samantha escapes, showing how abusers haunt their victims even in absence. Without spoiling every detail, I’ll just say his arc ends in a way that underscores the cycle of violence—he’s never redeemed, and the danger he represents never feels minimized.

By the time we reach the epilogue, Samantha is finally free—not just from Paul’s grip but from the self-loathing and fear he instilled in her.

I'm just going to start off by saying that I love Emily Klepps books. I haven't found one that I haven't loved reading. If you've read any of her books, then you know to check your Trigger Warnings.

Sammi is in a very abusive relationship and has been for a few years, but it all changes when she see's an old boyfriend. Ben has always been in love with Samantha. Running into her after a few years, hasn't changed his feelings for her. However, when he see's bruises on Sammi, he knows something is up. Ben ends up coming to Sammi when things go really bad for her.

Sammi doesn't think she deserves any happiness because she is so trapped in her head from the abuse she endured from her ex. But Ben is trying to show her that she deserves so much more. He's showing her that he loves her and has never stopped. Soon her friends Alice and Lucas are moving in to help Sammi feel safe. One night of Truth or Dare and the dynamic between the 4 of them takes a turn.

Soon Sammi, Ben, Alice, and Lucas are on the run but their staying together and exploring where this new dynamic goes. But they aren't safe and their not sure if or when they ever will be.

All 4 get their HEA but not without some emotional, mental, and physical trauma to add on to what they already have. It's a must read and you won't regret it.

WOW just....wow!!
I am honestly still processing a lot that happened in this book. Knowing from the preface who this story is dedicated to, why it was written and that these things actually happened to people very close to Emily.
It's not to say that I don't ever think this happens, because I know it does and I have been in the Criminal Justice field for many years, but to go through the emotions of the experience by reading about it in this book was in its own way traumatizing and truly heartbreaking.
This book shows how manipulative a single person can be and how any lives are truly ruined and tainted in the process. To see how a person can be truly broken and know they are being abused, yet somehow justify they were in the wrong and can make it better and just endure... THAT is soulwrenching.
But knowing Ben, Alice and Lucas were there in an inexplicable capacity for Sam was amazing to see and feel. Their support and love was never waivering and endless. They understood what Sam was going through and never left her.
This book is a harsh look at reality. Being broken beyond repair, becoming someone new who survived and chose to continue in life.
Be prepared for tears, heartbreak, truth, shock, hatred, rage and love.
Absolutely watch your triggers. This is no joke and all of it is a trigger.

This is very dark and has a lot of triggers so please read the trigger warnings first. This story is heartbreaking but soo good. Sammie goes through hell by the hand of her partner paul and by hell I mean absolute hell he is a violent abusive bully who enjoys causing her pain . She suffers for years and goes through something no woman should ever have to go through. When she is out in a restaurant with Paul she sees her childhood sweetheart and Paul doesn't like that at all so when they get back home he is even more violent to the point Sam is literally running for her life. Paul won't let Sam move on with her life at all and he certainly won't let her be happy because he thinks she belongs to him. I admire the courage and strength Sam has so much and my heart was breaking with everything she went through in this story. I think the most gut wrenching part of this amazing story is it's all true and that makes me love Sam so much more and admire her bravery to escape someone so horrible. I adore Ben so much he just wants to help because he absolutely adores Sam and he blames himself for what she went through because he had to move away. Sam has amazing friends who support her as much as they can and they know how to calm her when she spirals. The ending of this story is everything and more and I sobbed my heart out for Sam.

Trauma. Healing. Moving forward.

ABSOLUTE DARK TRIGGERS, trust the authors trigger warnings and take them seriously, as this is not a read for everyone.

Wow. That’s honestly the first word that comes to mind. Remnants of Wreckage was my first Emily Klepp book, and the emotions I felt while reading it were absolutely overwhelming, in the best way.

Knowing this story is based on true events makes it even more gut-wrenching. The reality that women endure this kind of trauma every single day broke me, but Emily crafted an incredible and raw narrative to show the harsh truth of D.V. Please check trigger warnings! This is not a light read, but if you’re able to sit with it, its truly a masterpiece.

Sam, the FMC, is one of the strongest characters I’ve ever read. Her relationship with Paul was appalling. He is one sick man, and while justice eventually comes, it never feels soon enough. Yet, woven into her story are the beautiful connections she builds with Ben, Alice, and Lucas. Everyone deserves friends like that. Everyone deserves to be loved like that.

And that game changer? I did not see it coming. I don’t think I’ve ever been so simultaneously disgusted and turned on by a book before 🥵🔥 The emotional rollercoaster was unreal, but so worth the ride

Arc review!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5 stars)

Haunting, Heartbreaking, and Unforgettable

This book grabbed me from the very first line—raw, desperate, and dripping with emotion. The story follows a woman trying to outrun the shadows of a love that nearly destroyed her, only to find herself pulled back into a dangerous cycle of obsession and heartbreak. It’s dark, it’s heavy, and it lingers in your chest long after you close the book.

The writing is hauntingly poetic, almost like you’re inside the character’s head as she struggles between survival and surrender. I loved the way the tension built—not just between her and the man she’s trying to escape, but also within herself as she battles old wounds and the possibility of healing.

At times, I wanted a bit more detail about the past love story that led to such destruction, but the ambiguity also added to the mystery and intensity. The pain felt real, the stakes were high, and the question of whether she could ever truly be free kept me turning the pages.

If you enjoy dark romance that explores toxic love, survival, and second chances, this one will stay with you.

Remnants of Wreckage is not just a book—it’s a descent into darkness and a brutal fight for survival. This story grips you by the throat and refuses to let go, unraveling themes of domestic violence, abuse, and trauma in a way that feels both devastatingly real and heartbreakingly raw.

The characters are survivors in the truest sense—broken, scarred, and yet still clawing their way toward something resembling freedom. Their pain is palpable, their strength unforgettable. You feel every bruise, every betrayal, every moment of terror—and yet, in the middle of all the wreckage, there are sparks of resilience, defiance, and hope.

This isn’t an easy read, but it’s an important one. The writing is dark, twisted, and unflinching, pulling you deep into the shadows of abuse while never letting you forget the power of survival. It will shatter you, shake you, and leave you piecing yourself back together right alongside the characters.

Remnants of Wreckage is a hauntingly beautiful portrayal of strength rising from ruin. A five-star journey into the darkest corners of humanity—and proof that even in devastation, survival is its own kind of triumph.

Sam & Ben - Alice & Lucas

This is a masterpiece. The raw truth of what thousands of women endure every day skillfully written into a story that grips your heart, tears you apart, and draws you into the world of those that had the courage to walk away, and have to deal with the fallout. This story includes not only the side of the survivor, but also the struggles of those that becomes the safety net, how they cope and try to help, how the fallout inevitably pulls them into the distress, thé fear and the heartache of seeing someone they love being completely broken down in spirit and stripped of their identity.
This book allows those that do not understand this, or maybe have not been aware of how badly it can get, to see a glimpse of the chaotic reality of domestic abuse.
Emily writes trauma in a realistically raw manner that makes you creep into the characters mind and breaks your heart along with the characters she presents. All while the goal of awareness is in the forefront.
I cannot recommend reading this book enough, but be aware of your own mental health because this does not sugarcoat anything at all.

I love everything this author writes! She’s spicy and edgy and it shows in her writing style and I’m here for it. I would read anything by her out in front of me. This book was no exception. I did have to walk a way a few times and read something fluffy for a bit because of the pure hell our FMC was put through. I have no triggers very little bothers me but the non stop abuse was a lot. Thank hog I have never fallen victim to this type of treatment but so many woman have and it’s heart breaking. This book should be a road map of how to survive the trauma of domestic violence. It had me crying and then Sam and her sassy snarky self would have me laughing. Her humor was dark but trauma. Thank god she had the people in her life that she did. From the waitress to the lady in the car and her new boss these people were empathetic and I think the character dealt with her trauma because of all of them. Sam was so worth the happily ever w she got. This book is about horrifying and tragic events and Emily made it a beautiful story about triumph or tragedy.

This book was emotionally heavy and filled with triggers, but it handled those difficult topics with honesty and care. It really dove into the tangled mix of feelings that survivors and those around them experience, from grief and guilt to anger and the slow climb toward healing.

The story is split into two sections, each serving a different purpose. I was completely drawn into the first part, the characters were complex and dynamic, their emotions raw and real. The twists hit hard and kept me reeling, unsure what direction the story would take next.

The second part shifted the tone, tying together open plot lines and giving the characters space to process everything that happened. It’s a long read and takes time to get through, but that pacing feels intentional. It mirrors the slow and often painful journey toward recovery.

If you’re looking for something light, this isn’t it. But if you’re in the mood for a deeply emotional story about survival, trauma, and finding meaning in the aftermath, Remnants of Wreckage is worth the time.

I am speechless!! This book!! I mean I have never been privvy to DV whether physical, mental or sexual and I read the dedication and authors note and realise this book comes from a very personal perspective for Emily. Not realising the entirety of the content, it is confronting and a eye opener for me. Please read all the TW before commencing this story of a woman at her lowest, deliberating her own suicide to escape her reality to her struggle for survival with her second chance at a future with Ben.
I will not say much in regards to the plot of this story except it is one that definitely should be read as we see Samantha and Ben reconnect after 4 years. Ben knows Samantha needs him but has to walk away and leave her with Paul and let her decide to ask for help, which she does! Her escape from Paul is the start of their second chance together. With many hurdles to overcome, one being to accept herself as worthy and with Ben there to help her overcome her trauma one day at a time.
Best friends Alice and Lucas are there to help and they play an instrumental role in helping Ben take care of Samantha as she fights her demons and tries to evade Paul at every turn. She learns to accept that sexual relations is not wrong in any context if it is consensual. Loved the dynamic between the 4 friends as they reconnect on many levels.
Loved the book in its entirety and happy with the surprise ending!

OMG !!! Emily really has outdone herself once again . Remnants Of Wreckage has to be one of the best Dark , heartbreaking and extremely emotional journeys I’ve read in the past few months. A story about , abuse and healing, love and second chances. Characters that have so many different layers and complexities to their relationships. The things our heroine sam went through oh man did it pull on all my heartstrings and keep me cheering for her to be able to find the love and happiness she so clearly deserved. And her guys each so different. I think by the end I was a little bit in love with both . This story has it all , non stop action, secrets and revelations, obstacles and drama , love , passion, pain , trauma , darkness, beautifully flawed and broken characters, second chances, obsession, redemption, morally grey hero’s and so much more. I really do feel like I just got off the wildest ride at the amusement park .

If you are already a follower of this Author you will know exactly how she is able to draw you into her dark and emotionally challenging reads and for those who have not ventured into her gritty dark world you will definitely be surprised how well she can entertain you with her thought provoking scenarios. I will admit her works are brilliant in ways that I never thought I would enjoy reading, especially understanding her own background and how writing about these dark, taboo genres/tropes are part of her own healing process.
I often am left emotionally provoked after one of her works and this title is another winner for me. I simply love to witness the strength and resiliency of a character and how the human mind and pysche is able to heal itself over time.
I thought this was a well devised plot and incredible characters that sold the story and provided yet another emotionally charged adventure into a life built upon resiliency and inner strengths.

This is one of the longer novels by this author, and while I certainly enjoyed it, it isn't amongst my favourites (though my fav list is a super long!)
The characters are loveable, and you really gel with each of them. The story itself is tough, and triggers are there for a reason, so please read them. It is heartbreaking yet healing, and the trauma experienced is a common tale, unfortunately, which makes this feel more real than other books by this author that have similar concepts.
I really liked the dynamic between the characters but felt that some relationships may not have needed to be mentioned/felt like there should have been more. None of it changed the story or ruined it in any way. it's just something I seemed unnecessary or missing.
I love this authors style, descriptiveness, as well as her ability to draw you into the lives of her characters - shes someone i will return to time and time again!

Remnants of Wreckage doesn’t ask for your attention—it demands it. A raw, relentless descent into trauma, obsession, and the fragile hope of survival. If you’re looking for comfort, look elsewhere. If you want to feel every jagged edge of a broken love story—this is it.

Tropes
Second chance romance (but twisted)
Captor/former captor dynamic
Obsession vs redemption
Survivor heroine
Morally grey love interest
Trauma bonding

Trigger Warnings
Domestic abuse
Stalking
Sexual violence
Captivity
Psychological manipulation
PTSD
Self-harm
Suicidal ideation.

This is not a safe read. Proceed with care, your mental health is important.

Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️
The spice is intense, but never gratuitous. It’s tangled in trauma, power, and vulnerability. Every scene is emotionally loaded—this isn’t about pleasure, it’s about survival and reclamation.

Emily Klepp delivers a heartbreaking yet hopeful story of survival in this emotionally intense novel. Through Samantha’s journey, the book explores the devastating reality of domestic abuse emotional, mental, and physical with honesty and care.
What stands out most is the strength of the support system around Sam. Ben, Alice, and Lucas are unwavering in their love, reminding us how vital community is in the healing process. The story doesn’t sugarcoat recovery, instead it shows how hard, painful, and necessary it is. This one hit a little too close to home, but nonetheless I pushed through it in the beginning and couldn't put it down.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE note the trigger warnings. This book is heavy and real. But if you can handle the content, it's an incredibly important and impactful read.

WOW WOW, this book was AMAZING !!!
I would say please check trigger warnings as this book is dark and very hard hitting.
The thing that really stands out is that this is a true life story and that the mfc went through hell before finding her hard earned peace and love.
The fmc Samantha is in an abusive relationship with her scum bag boyfriend Paul. The things he puts this poor girl through are terrible, l never hated a character more. Thank God for Ben, mmc, her childhood best friend and her ex, he is amazing love him. Then there is Alice and Lucas, who have been friends with Samantha for years they all care very deeply for each other. It was obvious they won't all end up in a poly relationship. I am really trying not to give any spoilers. I don't want to ruin it for anyone.
this is my honest arc review
