GRUDGE
JL CAMPBELL

This author, JL Campbell amazes me with the different story lines in her books and I wasn’t disappointed with GRUDGE. Usually her genre is romance, but this book is mainly a mystery. It starts out of the gate with an attempted murder on Corra while she’s on vacation at a resort, Xantrope. While swimming in the ocean she was pulled under water by an unknown assailant. This incident was observed by another vacationer, Phillip, who saved her. Unfortunately, Phillip was unable to catch the assailant.
In reading Grudge the personality of Corra is reveled little by little. She is a very private person and has a dislike towards policemen. This comes to light in the book which gives reason for her ways towards relationships and her reaction to Phillip who is a police officer. He has a very strong and inquisitive personality as well as being a workaholic. Phillip also has some family issues he confronts throughout the book. Both of these characters have strong personalities and push one another to certain limits. Whether these limits are good you need to read Grudge to find out.
With this mystery, family secrets, lies, infidelity, trust issues, kidnappings and jealousy are reveled throughout as well as a developing romance. As I read Grudge I tried to figure out who the assailant was and if all the previous incidents to Corra were connected. In order to see how or if these issues are connected to Corra and who was behind them I recommend you read Grudge.

Island Adventure Romance - An Excellent Series

As always, J.L. Campbell has given us another amazing story! Mix in a private, stubborn and strong-willed 30-year old young lady with a strong, pensive, workaholic police officer who both are going through their own issues and are thrown into each other’s life through no means of their own and you have this adventure story laced with romance and mystery! Whew! 😅. That’s a mouthful but summarizes this wonderful book! This is an excellent book that draws you in from the beginning! I highly recommend this book, as well as the entire series! You won’t be disappointed! Kudos, Joy!! 💜🤗💜

Corra is on vacation when a stalker and his hired thugs try to murder her. In steps Phillip, a police officer who’s also on the resort for vacation. He becomes smitten with Corra. While Corra weighs in about her romantic feelings about Phillip and tries to brush things off as if she’s not really in trouble, the stalker intensifies his attempts on taking her life. Even when they're back in Jamaica, resuming their lives after vacation, Corra has to watch her back and Phillip is always chasing a shadow and finding evidence of the stalker's identity.

Both Corra and Phillip have an amazing backstory, with many family secrets related to their current situations bubbling to the surface. The storyline is equally focused on the heated romance between the two, the danger Corra is facing, and Phillip’s personal issues. This is a great romantic-suspense novel. I’m glad I had a chance to borrow it with my Prime account.

I love a book that grabs me from the beginning, holds my attention throughout, and has me eager to find out what will happen next. This is truly a suspenseful romance. The characters and the plot were well-developed and not rushed and I could honestly visualize each character as if they were sitting in my livingroom. You find out that people have reasons for doing what they do, even if the results are not what anyone would have anticipated. It truly is a story about devotion, protection, perseverance, and tolerance. I'm very eager to read more by this author. She has an amazing gift for telling a story.

Holding on to a Grudge...

Wow... This was an Amazing Read that I couldn't put down once I began reading. I absolutely enjoyed Corra and Phillip's story. Character chemistry was on point. This story keeps the reader intrigued and wondering what's going to happen next. No spoilers, so if you haven't read this story or any story written by JL Campbell, stop sleeping on her and her work. JL, please tell me that we'll see more of Corra and Phillip in "Tender" or that there will be a sequel to "Grudge".

Campbell alway creates these men that are so unattainable in this cold cruel and rude world it can be sad for a woman who can't find one. Her women are strong and show that it's nice to have a man in your life but we don't need to depend on them to survive. My advice is grab a iced glass of pineapple juice, set some sounds of the sea for back ground noise and get lost in a sexy world of adventure, sex and intrigue.
