Double Dribble: Las Vegas Ramblers

Rate this book
You only get one shot at a second chance.

Fresh off a trade to Las Vegas, Aldridge Mosley is focused on staying sober, starting fresh, and winning a championship. But when his realtor turns out to be his ex-college girlfriend his quest for peace is threatened. Danessa is smart, stunning, and knows how to make the world melt away. He’s not looking for love for the woman who once broke his heart.

Danessa Irwin spends her days selling luxury homes she can’t afford and living a life that doesn’t feel like her own. She’s in a rut. Trapped between a career she no longer loves, a law school dream she gave up on, and a mother who always has an opinion. She’s supposed to be touring homes, not reliving the best (and most heartbreaking) relationship of her life. But Aldridge still knows how to make her laugh, still looks like trouble in the best way, and still sees her in a way no one else ever has.

Forced to face the pain of the past and the fire that still simmers between them, Aldridge and Danessa must decide if this reunion is a second chance or just history repeating itself. She’s stuck. He’s starting over. Neither of them expected another shot at love.

📚 Book Title: Double Dribble: Las Vegas Book Three
✍🏽Author: Kasha Thompson
📕 Format:📱= eARC
⭐️ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶 Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

🕑Quick Take:
Danessa Irwin is a successful realtor and business owner!

Aldrige ‘The Tower’ Mosley was traded to the Las Vegas Ramblers as the recently acquired point guard to replace their star player. He needs to settle into his new city, and his realtor is his college sweetheart, Denessa.

She is his realtor, and he is her ex. Can they resist rekindling their love that ended five years prior?

💕 What I Loved:
I have loved this series, Las Vegas Ramblers. Each story is a unique standalone that perfectly interweaves together but has its own vibes. I love that Danessa and Aldridge focus on friendship and getting to know each other. This was a slow burn, and I loved it—the tension and teasing, their unspoken possessiveness of each other. It was cute, and I appreciate how carefully the author handled the sensitive topics depicted in this story.

✨ Tropes:
- Second Chance Romance
- Former College Sweetheart
- Forced Proximity
- Sports Romance

⚠️ Heads Up (Trigger/Content warnings):
- Mature Content (18+)
- Addiction Recovery
- Childhood Exposure to Physical and Emotional
- Childhood Exposure to Intimate Partner Violence
- Strained and Estranged Parental Relationships

💭Final Thoughts:
I have loved this series; go read Defensive Stance and Jump Ball. These are perfect Black love novels that explore the depth of characters navigating life. I’m such a fan of the Ramblers and want some gear, LOL. I highly recommend Double Dribble for the girlies who love a good basketball romance.

Thank you to Kasha Thompson for the ARC!

The next book in the Las Vegas Ramblers series is about Aldridge and Danessa. This is a slow burn, second chance romance. Aldridge and Danessa dated in college, then broke up. Five years later when Aldridge is traded to the Ramblers, they reconnect when Danessa is his realtor.

It’s a journey for Aldridge and Danessa to find love again but the trip is filled with laughs, sadness, a lot of house hunting, and family drama from both of their families.

It was a fun and satisfying read. Borrowed this from Kindle Unlimited.

Sloane is the most annoying character in this series but Danessa ia fighting for first place. Nessa was annoying as fck. But I had to remember that these characters are 26 years old which means they are extra dumb. Danessa has zero boundaries with her mother but had set up major boundaries with Aldridge even though he hadn’t done anything wrong. Make that make sense?

Not i didn’t realize this was a whole series!

I LOVE Basketball and second chance romance with a Trauma-past MMC💀 so I feel like the foundational aspects of the book had the potential for this to be a fave, however this book felt really chaotic at times and the couple was giving whiplash🤣 they honestly deserve each other because they both will literally change their mind 3 times in a SINGLE conversation!!

It was definitely a slow burn building up to them actually getting together, I felt like that’s when things really got chaotic🙃 To me, Aldridge was set on Danessa the entire time but Danessa just couldn’t make up her mind about them and did NOT have a good reason which was really annoying lol.

Also, her sister is crazy💀 and the fact the next book is about her sister with A DIFFERENT MAN??🤣🤣🤣 PLEASE!!

Overall, I’m disappointed I didn’t love it because i’ve heard great things about this author so I’m definitely gonna read her other books!

and this time you won’t let go

Thank you to Kasha Thompson for this ARC of Double Dribble

Aldridge and Danessa are college sweethearts whose strong relationship falls apart when insecurity gets in the way.

Years later, Aldridge is traded to the Las Vegas Ramblers, and guess who his new realtor is? Danessa.

In their time apart, a lot has happened. This book is full of comedy but also has its fair share of conflict. I was honestly expecting a cute little second-chance romance, but what I appreciate most about this story is that it’s not a typical sports or millionaire romance where the characters are one-dimensional. Both of our leads are multidimensional, carrying trauma from their childhoods that informs how they navigate this new chapter in their lives.

After the breakup and entering the league, Aldridge spiraled and Meanwhile, Danessa broke up with him to go to law school but ended up dropping out. A huge part of this story is how her insecurities about being the partner of an NBA player play into her decisions. Even though she knows the type of man Aldridge is, she also, in some ways, breaks up with him just to spite her mom.

Let’s talk about the parents though. The dynamics with both of their parents were something serious. Many times I wanted to reach into the book and tell Danessa to stand up for herself. Her mother was a problem, manipulative and emotionally abusive in many ways. Aldridge’s father, on the other hand, was physically abusive to both him and his mother.

My only critique is that for the parents to have such a big impact on both main characters, I wish there had been more resolution to those storylines. It felt like things were left open-ended. Based on the author’s note, we might get closure for at least one of the families in the next book (if I read that correctly), but I’m not sure. I just felt so much for these characters, and my heart went out to them.

What I did appreciate, though, is that before they jumped right into rekindling things, as many second-chance stories do, we actually see them resisting each other, working through conflict, and rebuilding their friendship first. That made their connection feel more grounded and real.

And I also just wanna say, Aldridge and Danessa are both freaked out in this book 😂. The authors writing had me giggling, and there were definitely a few moments where I was like, okayyy, these are some real-ass people.

While it wraps up certain things, it left me wanting more, but also, as in life, not everything gets resolved neatly in a set timeframe. I can’t wait for the next book in this series coming in 2026.

Kasha does not miss.

ARC Review: Double Dribble by Kasha Thompson

Kasha Thompson’s Double Dribble is an emotional, addictive, and profoundly heartfelt second-chance romance that will leave readers swooning and reflective in equal measure. This isn’t just a love story—it’s a story about healing, vulnerability, and the courage it takes to open your heart again.

Danessa Irwin and Aldridge Mosley are first loves turned college sweethearts whose paths diverge after life, family pressures, and personal challenges pull them apart. When fate brings them back together, their rekindled connection is electric, raw, and unshakably real. Thompson captures the intoxicating tension of second-chances while weaving in themes of mental health awareness, addiction, grief, and the lingering impact of complicated family dynamics.

What makes Double Dribble shine is its balance of emotional depth with cinematic romance. Aldridge—a professional basketball player with a tender heart—and Danessa—a determined law student battling her own insecurities—navigate a love that’s as messy as it is magical. Their journey acknowledges that healing takes time, mistakes are inevitable, and real love requires vulnerability. The story tenderly explores how grief and generational wounds can shape relationships, but also how unconditional support and self-discovery can break the cycle.

Moments of humor and passion are seamlessly layered with gut-punching emotion. Thompson’s prose shines in quiet, intimate scenes where the characters confront their fears, celebrate triumphs, and hold space for each other’s pain. By the final pages, readers are not only rooting for Danessa and Aldridge’s love story but also reflecting on the power of forgiveness, self-love, and personal growth.

If you’ve ever wondered “what if?” or believe that sometimes happily ever afters deserve a second chance, Double Dribble is for you. It’s a heartfelt slam dunk that will stay with readers long after the last page.

Themes: Mental health awareness, addiction and recovery, grief, vulnerability, family dynamics, and the transformative power of love.

If it was just about the relationship between the MCs, I would’ve rated this book higher. But it was the side storylines that I didn’t like and that soured it for me. Both MCs had their flaws but overall I liked them together.

I didn’t like Danessa’s relationship with her sister. She was never serious and never had her back when it came to their mum.

I despise their mum and no amount of family therapy will fix their relationship. I don’t even understand why they’d be in family therapy, she needed to cut her off and quit their shared business. Every time they mentioned their childhood, something worse would be revealed. It wasn’t bad enough that Jemini left her children to chase a man abroad, resulting in CPS and a foster home placement for months, but when they were teenagers, she tried to pimp them out to adult men 😳. What kind of mother is that?

I think Danessa judged Aldridge for how he funded his abusive father and enabler mother but didn’t recognise that her own mother was abusive and at least Aldridge was actively working on distancing himself and finally cutting his father off. Danessa’s life was so entangled with her family when distanced was needed. She failed to realise that the reason she broke up with Aldridge in the first place is at least partly due to the trauma from witnessing how her mum lives her life and trying not to emulate her values.

Otherwise, there were some comments in the book that didn’t sit right with me.

We are in book three of the Las Vegas Ramblers series and this story focuses on ex’s Aldridge and Danessa

Aldridge Mosley was just traded to the Ramblers and is looking to settle within his new city, meaning he needs a place to stay. Enter in Danessa Irwin. Danessa works as a realtor in Las Vegas, a job which she doesn’t like or love, and when she sees that her newest client is her ex it makes her reevaluate her life and that’s where our story begins.

I will start off by saying that this is a slow burn novel. With this being a second chance romance and these characters have so much history together it does take some time for action to happen but once it does the story takes off. Both of their growth individually was nice to see. Their family dynamics were crazy to read about! I truly believe that Danessa’s mom earned her a solid spot on my list as well as Aldridge’s dad, both were trash parents.

The actual chemistry between the two was some of the best I’ve read about and for me when it comes to a second chance romance there has to be chemistry. At times I wanted to shake them both and say just get together already but I know it was apart of the process.

Overall I recommend this series to anyone and I can’t wait to see what’s next! Thank you to the author for this ARC in exchange for a honest review.

absolutely love a sports romance specifically a basketball romance, then add in second chance and im overly hooked.

this was soo good. the plot, character growth, depth, angst and yearning was so good. i knew this was going to be 5 ⭐️ when aldi said “when i tried coke that’s when i knew i lost the plot” like he was just doing stuff because he could 😭😭, nessa was a chronic overthinker, i though i always think the worst but she took it to another level 😂. one of my favorite microtropes is when the mmc is rich and trying to help make the fmc life easier but she be trying to fight him off paying for stuff and then finally accepts it, like i love it so much so i can yell at her saying let him help and this book didn’t disappoint.

i hope aldi never speaks to his abusive dad ever again, i hope his mom finally finds the strength and courage to leave him and take aldi up on his offer.

anika and nessa mom was a mess. she never took accountability for her actions when nessa was calling out it was always “stop attacking me”, when nessa said that her mom was her bully and that she fucked her ex boyfriend i was hurt for her cause as a mom why do that especially when she was claiming her dms never empty.

the next book being about anika and a new man is hilarious. lmaoo i can’t wait to read how anika and dante end up getting divorced, i wonder how long the marriage lasted

If second chance romances are your thing, then add Double Dribble by Kasha Thompson which was released today October 28, 2025.

This third book in the Las Vegas Ramblers series is now among my list of favourite books of 2025.

I enjoyed getting to know basketballer Alridge Mosley and realtor Danessa Irwin, former college sweethearts, who met again after he was transferred to the Ramblers from Kansas City Pioneers to Las Vegas and needed a new home.

Once I started, it was hard to put down.

I had a time reading this standalone novel as both Aldi and Nessa navigated their lingering feelings while getting reacquainted.
It wasn't easy, especially when their families and his team mates' shenanigans were part of the picture.

I laughed a lot at their corny jokes, empathised with their situations, shouted at people as though they were in front of me, and gave a serious side eye to Anika & Dante, two oversharers. 🌶🌶 🥵

I wanted to thump Jemini and Lamonte because, how! Why people, why? 👀 😠

This story is real and relatable, typical Kasha Thompson style. It shows how two people from different backgrounds are shaped by their respective environment, how dreams serve as an impetus, how true love stands the test of time, and how having the right person in your life can be a wonderful thing.

Thanks to author Kasha Thompson for the E-Arc.

Be kind to yourself. 💜❤️💜❤️

I received a ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is book 3 in the Las Vegas Ramblers series and we are reading about Aldridge Mosley and his ex Danessa Irwin. These two were surprised when they came into contact during Aldridge’s home search.

Danessa is a real estate agent helping Aldi with his crazy demands. I loved their banter and conversation once they were able to get back comfortable with one another. I could really see that their bond was tight and how easy it was for them to fall back into a friendship.

Anika is Danessa’s sister whom is a free spirit in every sense of the word. I am still on the fence if I liked her or not. There were times I felt she left Nessa hanging, but I know for sure I didn’t like Jenni, their mother.

This was a slow burn romance that was very slow. Not much is happening with these two until the later part of the story so this one is not bam bam spicy. But once they do get going, they kept going often.

I think the readers would like this story and I recommend the reading of it. I am always an advocate of serving chance romance and that’s what this is. Enjoyed their friendship and dialogue.

I loved Double Dribble. It amused and entertained me to no end. The hero, Aldridge was so cocky and some of the things he said were utterly ridiculous. They had me laughing out loud. The heroine's sister, Anika was another character who had me laughing uncontrollably over the things she said. I found her so hilarious. There were so many moments in this book that brought me pure unadulterated joy. I loved it. While the heroine, Danessa was more straitlaced that didn't make me love her any less. I loved that about her as well as her forthright nature and how down to earth she was. While this was a lighthearted read for the most it delved into themes/topics of a more serious nature. The author handled them well. I loved the way she navigated between the heavier stuff and the lighthearted neither outweighed the other. They were carefully balanced. I also loved that their, hero and heroine's jobs didn’t overshadow the romance. It was the perfect blend of sports and romance. I had a time reading this book and can't wait to read more by this author. I most definitely recommend it.

I love Kasha Thompson and I love this series. Her books are about real ass flawed people. And when I say flawed I don’t mean “manic pixie dream girl likes rainbows too much” ya know? Daneesa is judgemental and Aldridge is picky recovering addict.

I loved them together. I loved Aldi navigating sobriety and his family. I liked Daneesa’s complicated relationship with her mom, and her sister. Even her complicated feeling about not just being a WAG. She wanted to stand on her own and be her own person while still regretting letting go of Aldi.

One thing I really didn’t like was Daneesa’s internal monologue, she was really conflicted about Aldi but she ran hot and cold and without really any rationale. I found it super confusing how in one chapter she’d think x, and then in an Aldi chapter express y.

It was nice to see Sloan and Deck briefly but I missed seeing Sariah and Justus together. Also the book spent so much time convincing us that Dante and Anika are real love (they get married!) but the end notes say the final book in the series is Raphael and Anika’s book? I’m confused.

Tropes: second chance romance, sport romance, his first love!

Initial thoughts:
The story is loaded, not your average second-chance sports romance.
Theme such as addiction, abusive parenting both emotional and physical was explored in this story

Book overview: 5 years after their breakup fate brings them back together. Aldridge, the professional star basketball player who has been placed on the Rambles to win the NBA championship, did not expect to bump into his first and only love, Danessa, whilst looking for a home.

Danessa the successful perfectionist and realtor, did not know that her new client was the man she had dumped and broken his heart.

How can she work for the man, she is still madly in love with?

Read the story to find out, if Danessa successfully finds Aldridge a home and offers him a second chance at love.

***I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC for this book & all thoughts & opinions are my own***

I will say my biggest dislike of this book was how slow it was. By 60% the two characters still weren’t together or nothing. However, outside of that the book was good. This is a second chance romance with a little forced proximity due to Aldridge being traded to the Las Vegas Ramblers & needs a new home while Danessa stays in Vegas & is a realtor so they were kind of forced/set up to work together. The bickering between the two characters was definitely something that I enjoyed. One of my favorite characters was definitely Anika & after that little spoiler in the ‘what’s to come’ at the end of the book I’m very interested in her story cause who is that??!!

Double Dribble was such an engaging second chance romance and a solid addition to the Las Vegas Ramblers series (Book 3 of 3). I really enjoyed seeing Aldridge and Danessa navigate unfinished feelings, personal growth, and all the messy emotions that come with reconnecting after 5 years apart. Their chemistry was undeniable—you could feel the tension and familiarity between them from the very beginning.

What stood out most to me was how layered both characters were. Aldridge is trying to stay sober, rebuild his life and stay grounded after just being traded, while Danessa’s at a crossroads, questioning the path she’s chosen and what truly makes her happy. Their families definitely added some drama to the mix, giving real depth to their stories.

This one’s a slow burn for sure (thanks to Danessa's stubbornness), but it pays off in all the right ways. I loved watching them both find their footing again—not just as a couple, but as individuals. A heartfelt, emotional read that reminded me why I love second chance romances so much.

I can’t wait to see what’s next from Kasha Thompson.

Hell Yeah!

I didn’t think I could love a couple more than I loved Deion and Sloane from the first book. Aldridge and Danessa quickly stole that crown. Their chemistry and deep history with each other was everything. They truly were soulmates. Their passion was intense, but I loved their witty banter the most. There were so many laugh out loud moments in this book. The drama was juicy, too. Their parents had me ready to climb into the book and throw hands. A really pleasant surprise was Anika’s love story playing out in the background. I loved it. This was such an entertaining read. It’s going right to the top of my favorites for 2025.

This is my second book by Kasha Thompson. This is a heartfelt and engaging read. I really enjoyed this book
—the main characters, Aldridge and Danessa, are both appealing and well-drawn. Their story balances familiarity with emotional depth, especially around themes of healing, forgiveness, and second chances.
The chemistry between them feels authentic, and the way the author explores their personal struggles makes the romance even more satisfying. It's not just about love-it's about growth, resilience, and finding your way back to yourself.

**** ARC REVIEW***
This wasn't my favorite out of the series. I did enjoy reading about an athlete that has etruggles but was trying everything to stay a float. I really loved Aldi being so real and raw in his feelings. Danessa got on my last ever lovin nerves.

I feel like the jokes weren't doing it for me, and a lot of the time to the story would just jump into the next thing . But overall, I definitely enjoyed it. I actually enjoyed Anika and Dante more than Danessa and Aldridge.
Also, their parents were trash.

Second chance romance isn't usually my jam, but this was Kasha Thompson, so its not a surprise that it worked for me lol I loved Danessa and I was so proud of Al. Even if, (full transparency) I had to skip some chapters because of the content, as some of that is triggering to me. (Previous family O/D) But Kasha was very understanding and made accommodations for me immediately.

There was a lot to unpack in this book. I was fully expecting the second chance romance but there was so much more packed in these pages. From addiction, torn relationships with parents , navigating life in a new city. I really enjoyed all the elements. The banter was spot on and provided moments of relief especially after a heavy subject. Another great addition to the series.

Crazy, sexy, cool

This was a fun read. The humor in this one was fabulous. I had several laugh out loud moments. The spicy was habenero not just for the sake of being spicy but also in good taste. Cool was the juxtaposition of the sisters spontaneous relationship vs the overthinking fast forward hard brakes one. It was great!
