When former bull rider Garth Calhoun finds a beautiful woman wearing a wedding dress wandering the most dangerous trail on his ranch, he’s not sure what to think. Granted, the wedding of the year was currently being held on his property, but what he didn’t expect was that the bride-to-be, Emelia Quinn, was fleeing from her own ceremony.
With nowhere to go, he reluctantly offers her a place to stay in exchange for her helping with various chores around the ranch. At first, he’s skeptical of the arrangement. A pampered, city girl like her knew nothing about the challenges and what life on a ranch truly entailed, but when she showed up with her sleeves rolled up, ready to work, he knew with unshakeable certainty that she would be his undoing. From charming the locals of Dusty Meadows and even more so his stubborn-as-a-mule daughter, he couldn’t stop his impenetrable walls from slowly crumbling.
But falling for the runaway bride was the last thing the single dad with trust issues needed. She was on a journey of self-discovery; all the more reason why she should remain off-limits, but keeping his distance proved to be more difficult than he anticipated. All he ever needed was his family and Hideaway Haven Ranch.
Remi Rose lives in Missouri with her boyfriend, young daughter and lazy dog. When she's not writing, she's either watching a serial killer documentary or eating way too much chocolate.
This was my first book by this author, and I enjoyed it! I've been loving cowboy romances lately, and I'm excited to explore even more from different authors. This story was a quick and easy read, packed with just the right amount of spice and a wonderful aspect of found family.
Emilia has been engaged for years but has a nagging feeling that something isn’t quite right. She senses that her fiancé doesn’t truly love her, and deep down, she knows she needs to break free. One day, her fiancé surprises her with plans to get married at a ranch, but on the big day, she realizes she can’t go through with it and makes a run for it. She ends up lost in the forest until Garth swoops in to save the day!
Garth is the ranch owner, a single dad, and a bit of a grump. He’s the one who finds Emilia in the woods, and when she confesses that she doesn't want to go through with the wedding, he brings her to one of his cabins. I adored how protective he was of her, even though they were practically strangers. As they spend time together, Garth starts to feel a deep attraction to her. He can be a bit broody and rough around the edges, but underneath, he’s soft and caring, especially towards Emilia.
Garth and Emilia's relationship is a lovely slow burn, with a tension that’s hard to miss. I admired Emilia’s character growth throughout the story. She transforms from a timid and uncertain woman into someone strong and courageous who knows exactly what she wants. Overall, this book is a feel-good romance with a fantastic found family vibe and just the right amount of spice!
The cover of the book is STUNNNNING and is what drew me into this one in the first place. Tie that with a cowboy trope and a runaway bride? Cause for success… Right? Apparently not so much here..
For the first 30%, I was enjoying myself and the set up was great. Bride runs away from her wedding to this billionaire douche, set on a ranch, and the rugged cowboy (and he’s a single dad) rescues her. She then stays on the ranch to try and overcome her “heartbreak” even though she’s really not heartbroken?
I felt like this book was very superficial. There was so depth to ANYONE in this book and we barely even know anything about any of these characters. They reveal a few things to each other but it didn’t feel authentic and I didn’t care. All the dialogue felt very scripted and formulaic, it didn’t flow well for me at all and I didn’t feel any tension between the characters. We get snippets of the other characters, for example Grace, Garth’s daughter, who has one point has a “heartfelt” moment with Emelia, and even that felt formulaic and planted to make you care about the characters and their relationship.
I like my romances to feel authentic and I need to feel the love between the two characters or it is pointless. These two went from her staying on the ranch, to her moving all her stuff from New york, saying i love you, and not even knowing each others AGES? They had never even had one meaningful conversation. None. How are you in a relationship and you talk about basically nothing? I don’t know if this will be everyone’s opinion but it’s the way that i felt while reading it.
Even the little bit at the end with her ex-fiance, planted to make it a bit more interesting and it was talked about and done in 2 seconds. I just can’t think of anything else to say other then I felt like I was reading about robots 😩 I feel terrible ever saying that but that’s how it felt. And nothing happened. AT ALL. Nothing.
So sad I felt this way about this book. 2 stars for the first 30%
Of your looking for a damsel in distress type of book this one is for you. You watched a woman find her voice eventually in this book with a broody, grumpy, single-dad cowboy. I love Grace the daughter she was witty! I’m hoping we get another book about Beau and Clarke those two were a good time. If you want a light read, I would recommend picking this up.
The pacing of this book really threw me for a loop. The first 40% is the lead up to/wedding day. That made the story feel a bit clunky to me. It all was a bit too surface level for my taste, although others may enjoy it!
Y’all ready for a cowboy romance? One where the cowboy has a real twang with every word, wears his boots tight, his pants even tighter, and occasionally even takes off the cowboy hat in favor of a BACKWARDS baseball cap (which of course it says PBR on it). Okay, well this is it.
Emilia has been with her boyfriend (now fiancé) for seven years, and she’s not quite sold on the idea of becoming his Missus. When she goes to the most gorgeous Texas ranch for her wedding, she realizes she can’t do it, and flees before the ceremony. That’s when our MMC, Garth, steps in, and saves the day (no really, she was lost on the Ranch in her wedding heels) 😳
Garth may seem like a prickly pear at first, but he quickly finds that he has a soft spot for Emilia, and she for him. This one is a slow burn. The feelings build well past 50% before any moves are made, and the crazy part is that in that time, only a few days have gone by since they’ve met. So while I loved the slow build between them, part of it also felt kind of fast since she was about to get married not even a week prior. But once I got past that little hiccup, I was able to thoroughly enjoy the ride.
Perfect for lovers of cowboy romances, DILFs, standalone romance series (gonna have some fun characters in the next few books, found families, and age gap (that isn’t really referenced).
Thank you for the ARC opportunity in return for an honest review 😊
From the moment I first saw this book being advertised, I knew I had to read it. So when an ARC landed in my hands, I couldn’t have been more excited or more grateful. The story turned out to be everything I hoped for: gentle, comforting, and full of both sweet and heartfelt moments. Cowboy romances are my ultimate comfort reads, and this one fit the bill perfectly. Grath, in particular, completely stole the show. He’s written with such depth and quiet charm that I couldn’t help but fall for him. Page after page, I was hooked, and before I knew it, I’d devoured the whole book. I genuinely couldn’t put it down!
This book is perfect for anyone who loves: -cowboys -age gap -single dad -found family
Aahh maan, this was a struggle to get through. The wedding/running away buildup took up half the book that it felt too late to DNF and just intrigued to see it through now just to see if it'll get better. I honestly enjoyed the side characters more than the main couple on this one and the pacing is just all over the place for me. I'm lowkey disappointed :/
The Runaway and the Rugged by Remi Rose is a sweet and steamy small-town cowboy romance that had me hooked from the start.
The story begins when former bull rider and single dad Garth Calhoun finds runaway bride Emelia Quinn wandering his ranch in her wedding dress. With nowhere else to go, Emelia ends up staying at Hideaway Haven Ranch, helping with chores in exchange for a place to stay. What Garth doesn’t expect is for this so-called pampered city girl to roll up her sleeves, win over the locals of Dusty Meadows, and completely charm his stubborn daughter. While Garth struggles with his trust issues, Emelia is on her own journey of self-discovery, and their connection becomes harder and harder to resist.
I loved watching Emelia find her voice and figure out who she truly is. She took such a huge, scary chance walking away from her old life, and I admired her strength. On the flip side, it was just as enjoyable to see Garth’s rough exterior slowly peel away, revealing who he really is underneath that grumpy, cowboy persona—I could picture his character perfectly, country accent and all.
The dual POV made their dynamic shine. The banter was sharp and fun right from the start, and the tension between them—wow 🥵. Their chemistry felt real and added the perfect spark to the slow build of their romance.
Overall, The Runaway and the Rugged is a heartfelt, fun, and steamy cowboy romance that’s also a quicker read—perfect if you’re looking for small-town charm, family bonds, and sizzling chemistry. Definitely one I recommend! 🤠 ✨🖤
Thank you Remi & Ember Literary PR for the opportunity to read your book by being on your ARC team 🫶🏼
At this point should I even say how much I EAT UP a single dad rancher trope? If you didn't know, well I LOVE THEM! The only thing I eat up more is a surpris pregnancy 😍. Remi never ceases to amaze me with her storytelling. I almost feel like she could write about ANYTHING and I would GOBBLE it up! So no surprise here that I loved this book!
Emilia is out damsel in distress, but has the spunk! She is on her journey to finding herself after leaving her wedding. She refused to be that person and be unhappy. She definitely had a journey to finding herself and her voice! She was the opposite of our broody and grumpy cowboy. She was the perfect match to his broody self!
Garth is your resident cowboy 🤠 with all the hallmark signs. He has a twang to go with every single 💖 Ma'am and ❤️ Darlin. When he walks up your eyes are going to be drawn to the worn cowboy 🤠 hat tight on his head, and even tighter jeans. His boots 👢 are what really brings in tall together. But I would be amiss if I didn't tell you ALLLL about that backward 🧢 baseball cap with the PBR sewn on. But the fun doesn't stop at the boots! He is our own personal broody & grumpy cowboy 🤠 😍. This right here is the recipe for the perfect storm!
Grace was the witty kid you always wanted to have a conversation with because she would leave you in stitches 😆. I loved how Emilia bonds with Grace and the evolution between them! I loved seeing their bond continue to grow as the book went on. I loved seeing how Emilia was able to be that feminine touch that Grace needed.
Thank you 🫶🏻 to ✨️ Remi Rose & Ember Literary ✨️ for the complimentary 📚 ARC 📚. ✨️ All opinions are my own, honest and voluntary✨️.
A huge thank you to the author, the publisher, and Ember Literary PR for this ARC of The Runaway and The Rugged!
The anticipation was strongly building before the release date and I was thrilled and lucky to have received an ARC copy.
Single dad Garth is trying to balance it all - being a parent to 12 year old Grace, supporting his family and helping run his family’s ranch, all while guarding his heart after a messy past involving his ex, Grace’s mom. When they host a wedding for the first time at their ranch, everything is going smoothly until it isn’t.. the bride Emelia, is MIA. In a frantic search, Garth locates her lost in a field and she confesses that she can’t follow through with the marriage. In an effort to protect Emelia from her infuriated (now) ex-fiancé, Garth and his family put her up in one of their cabins until she can get back on her feet.
Their relationship was full of tension, angst and spice but also tender and heartful. There was a comedic cast of side characters including Grace & Beau that added something special to the story and am excited to see them in future book(s)! My only critique is that I wish it was longer.. the story was jam packed into 290 pages, and I would have loved to see the story and relationships flourish further given more time.

ARC Review: Thank you so much to Remi Rose and Ember Literary PR for sending me a copy to read and review
I love a small-town book with a grumpy single-dad cowboy, a found family aspect, a scene where he rescues her from a bar, and a pierced cowboy. The Runaway and The Rugged checks all of these boxes. I loved Grace and Emilia’s relationship.
Emelia is in a bad relationship. He sees her as nothing more than an accessory to have on his arm. She waits until her wedding day, when all the guests have arrived, to work up the courage to run. However, she ran to one of the most dangerous trails on Hideaway Haven Ranch. It’s there where she’s got blisters on her feet from the heels she was wearing that she’s rescued by broody single dad Garth.
Garth is HOT. He’s got a mustache and a protective streak a mile wide. As soon as he meets Emilia, he feels protective of her. What’s more is that his daughter, who has always wanted a mother, falls instantly for the newest resident of the Ranch. After he convinced Emilia to stay(in one of the cabins) he shows her the ropes and falls for her more and more for her every day.
Thank you Ember literary PR & Remi Rose for this ARC.
The Boon cover is what drew me to this book; add in the broody cowboy, runaway bride & cherry on top SINGLE DAD and I was sold.
Unfortunately I did not connect with the characters at all. I liked them individually.
FMC- needed to find herself and her voice and it broke my heart it took her so long to leave that A-HOLE she was marrying like how does one let it get so far. Again, she was basically groomed into the trophy girlfriend so I can see it. I am glad she eventually came out of her shell and found herself.
MMC- I liked him a lot, really showed his GRUMY TO EVERYONE BUT HER side. He really was a simp for her and I loved it. His relationship with his daughter was cute. So i loved that part.
I love grace and her Witt, she was so funny and I loved that her personality.
Overall I enjoyed it, but I wish I could’ve connected a little more with the characters.
I will continue to read books by this author, and I really hope we get a Beau and Clarke story next 🫣 Because THE BANTER THERE IS 🤪
4 ⭐️ 2.5 🌶️ ARC review: I'd been waiting for this book for a long time so I'm so happy I enjoyed it. It was an easy quick read that followed the runaway bride and the ranch owner that saved her.
Emilia and Garth were very cute together and his daughter Grace had me chuckling, she was such a sweetie.
I recommend this book if you like .. - age gaps - cowboys - single dads - found family.
"Wanted to show him that he had no right to touch what ain't his." .. "That the woman in my arms wouldn't look twice at a wannabe fuckin' cowboy like him." .. "Especially when she has a real fuckin' deal waiting at home."
I was so intrigued by this book, and don't get me wrong, it was a cute read, it just missed the mark a bit for me.
Emelia is the runaway bride who finds herself rescued by Garth, a single dad rancher who quickly does everything he can to help out Emelia and keep her close. On the other hand, Emelia is determined to finally stand on her own and find her way.
The characters were great, however I did feel a bit of lack of chemistry between Garth and Emelia. This is a very, very slow burn, which was slightly disappointing as once the spice happened, it was well done.
Overall, it was an okay read, and I am still interested in reading the rest of the series.
Loved it! The Runaway and the Rugged was the perfect balance of passion with depth. Garth & Emelia weren’t just thrown together for sparks; they each had their own struggles, secrets, and layers that made the journey feel real. The tension kept me hooked, but it was the tender moments that really melted me.
Remi Rose, you nailed it—I couldn’t put it down!
✨Thank you Ember Literary PR & Remi Rose for the ARC!✨
This is a cowboy romance, through and through. Dramatic flourishes ebbing between bouts of banter and yearning. Though they were an insta-lust couple, their romance was really sweet as it developed through the story. Overprotective single-daddy and a runaway bride with a slushie addiction? I mean, come on, that's like tv level cute couple stuff! But other than the fun tropes, it was all very surface-level with no really emotional hits or character depth.
Would I recommend? - If you're into a quick cowboy romance, definitely give it a shot! It's fast-paced, sweet, and has a beautiful ending. If you want more yearning and more character development, maybe it's not the best, but it's still a fun, quick, read.
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
While this was a cowboy romance and it was a quick read, it wasn't as enthralling as I hoped it would be. Emelia is a sweet girl, albeit a bit of a 'weak' one in that she never stands up for herself and then freaks out when someone tries to go overprotective on her. She finds her voices in moments, not throughout the whole story, so it's hard for me to say she really grew on me.
Garth is the hot single-daddy that comes in hot with overprotective nature and family first values. Garth and his daughter, Grace, were probably the best parts of the book for me. I love when a man knows what he wants and goes for it! And boy, does he.
The pace of the book was pretty slow. The first 30-40% was just the lead up to the wedding and then Emelia pulling her runaway bride. Everything after that was paced pretty nicely in the end-up leading to them together. I kind of wish it had been wedding in the first 15% and then the building of their relationship the rest instead of an insta-lust thing. It may have garnered better ratings across the board that way. After all, most romance readers (especially cowboy romance) are looking for that yearning, that shifting of character morals/ideals when their love interest comes in to shake things up.
All-in-all, decent read, fun time, give it a shot if you'd like!
Garth and Emelia were so cute! And his daughter Grace had me cackling! This couple was perfect together in this story from Emelia being a runaway bride who needs to start over to the ex bull rider finally finding love after a huge heartbreak in his past. I also loved Grace and Emelia’s relationship.
I went into The Runaway and the Rugged by Remi Rose with a lot of excitement and high hopes, but unfortunately, it just didn’t quite land for me. The premise had so much potential, but I felt like the execution fell a bit flat.
For me, the pacing was off — not much seemed to happen throughout the story, and there wasn’t the tension or build-up I was hoping for. The romance also leaned heavily into love-at-first-sight, which made it hard to fully buy into the connection between the main characters. I kept waiting for more depth and development, but it never quite got there.
The FMC was another struggle point for me. I was rooting for her to grow and really come into her own, but her character arc didn’t progress in the way I had hoped. Even when the ex-fiancé was finally brought back into the picture — very late in the book — it felt rushed and resolved almost immediately.
Overall, this wasn’t a bad book by any means, but it just didn’t work for me personally. I think readers who enjoy lighter romances without a lot of conflict might connect with it more. I just found myself wishing for more build-up, growth, and momentum in the story.
I genuinely enjoyed this book! It was full of strong, witty, caring characters that brought the story to life. It has just enough spice that it added to the story and the tension was top notch.
Emelia found her strength and her purpose after running away from her wedding. While Garth learned to trust and love again. Grace provided comic relief and heart felt tenderness.
I am excited for the next book and to spend more time with the characters I adore.
I was so excited to receive this ARC, and the wait for it only built it up more, but I was not disappointed. I was hooked right from the start, I couldn't put it down. I was a gonna for Garth, that man knows how to treat his lady and protects her. Definitely an edition to the book boyfriend list. His daughter, Grace, was hilarious! Absolutely loved her! I'm so glad Emelia saw the error in marrying that man and ran away! I really enjoyed seeing her and Garth come together but also the three of them becoming a family was really sweet! I wish there was more with the ex! The drama was there but I dunno, I just expected a little more. Excited for the rest of this series though.
Being rescued by handsome grumpy cowboy? Sign me up! The only problem I had with this book is that it wasn’t long enough!! I love every bit of this story, from start to finish! 🤠 𝗋𝖾𝗍𝗂𝗋𝖾𝖽 𝖻𝗎𝗅𝗅-𝗋𝗂𝖽𝖾𝗋 👰♀️ 𝗋𝗎𝗇𝖺𝗐𝖺𝗒 𝖻𝗋𝗂𝖽𝖾 🤎 𝗌𝗂𝗇𝗀𝗅𝖾 𝖽𝖺𝖽 🧑🧑🧒🧒 𝖿𝗈𝗎𝗇𝖽 𝖿𝖺𝗆𝗂𝗅𝗒 🌶️ 𝖺𝗀𝖾 𝗀𝖺𝗉
If you love a steamy cowboy romance filled with all the popular tropes — single dad, age gap, he falls first, overprotective MMC — you’ll devour The Runaway and the Rugged!
I really enjoyed Emilia and Garth’s romance and how it progressed through the book. The tension, the flirting, the yearning, I ate this book up in less than a day!!
I was recommended this book by a friend and at the start I wasn’t sure how it was going to go for me, but 3.5 huge stars for The Runaway and the Rugged!
Emelia is the runaway bride who realises (with super awkward timing) that the man she’s meant to marry is the exact opposite of who she wants. So….with no plan, no money, uncomfortable shoes and a full wedding outfit, she decided to run and head for the hills - or trails in this instance. But unfortunately gets lost on the ranch where her wedding is meant to take place. For a city girl, that could well be the worst thing imaginable!
Enter Garth. The quintessential cowboy who is as rough and rugged as the land his house sits on. He’s a single dad to a 12yo Grace (who is hilarious and a little mastermind at times).
Now there was some predictable moments - as there are with so many of these, but they didn’t hinder the story. There were some parts that could have been left out, but again that’s me being picky. Garth and Beau were my favourites!
this book was such a vibe—cute, sweet, and so swoony. i was head over heels for these characters and this world that was built within the pages.
i've always been a sucker for a good single dad romance, and make it cowboys? SOLD. this was one of the best feel good romances i have read in a while. the entire time, i just had the biggest grin on my face and i could not put this book down for the life of me!
emelia and garth were the perfect pair...the sunshine embodiment and a grump who just needs a little love. and grace, she absolutely stole my heart, she had every bit of her dad's personality woven into her own. i just loved them all so much!!
ten out of ten, such a great book, i ADORED this one with my whole heart. i highly recommend you giving this one a try, especially if you love single dads and cowboys!
thank you so much to the author @authorremirose & @emberliterarypr for the arc in exchange for my honest review! 🫶🏻✨
I’d seen thousands of sunsets, thousands of views that stole my breath away, but nothing was as impactful as looking at her.
ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review
I’ve been wanting to read Remi Rose for a while now, and I’m so happy that my first book was The Runaway and the Rugged because it was the perfect introduction to her writing, and also because Garth & Emelia were beautiful, they had an interesting journey and personal stories that I loved getting to know. Plus, the supporting characters really stole my heart, and I can’t wait to read them ALL!
Emelia is our runaway bride, a girl who’s been in a relationship for years and lost herself slowly, which broke my heart to read. BUT I really loved that she always had Clarke, her best friend, by her side to defend her, support her, and give her the strength she needs. Another thing I really enjoyed about this character was reading about her finding her place in Dusty Meadows without even looking for it and the beautiful relationship she slowly forms with Grace.
Garth is a former bull rider, single dad, and grumpy cowboy who I loved reading about. His protective side and the way he ALWAYS supported Emelia unconditionally melted my heart. And reading him being so sweet, tender, and going crazy with Grace made me love him even more.
A cowboy romance featuring a single dad rancher, who just so happens to fall fast and hard for the runaway bride, who just happens to basically embody sunshine… oh and he has the cutest and sassiest daughter for a sidekick, what more could you possibly want?! Because The Runaway and The Rugged has all of that and so much more! You’ll truly love every second of this book, between the instant romance our two leads are fighting hard to ignore but can’t, our amazing MCs who will steal your heart from the second you start reading, and the found family full of amazing characters this book will be one you don’t want to miss!
Emilia has felt like her spark has been dimmed for a while now under the controlling thumb of her fiancé Nathaniel… a thumb that gets even more controlling when he springs basically a surprise wedding on her. But Emilia knows she can’t continue to live under Nathaniel’s rule and she has to do something before it’s too late. Even if that means running away and getting lost on a picture perfect trail, on a picture perfect ranch… in her wedding dress… on the day of her wedding. Who should happen upon her though, none other than one very attractive cowboy. A cowboy who takes one look at Emilia and feels his heart crack open and a want for this woman he can’t explain. And when he learns she doesn’t want anything to do with this wedding, the preplanned life, and the controlling husband, well Garth offers her a way out. Garth may be a bred and raised cowboy through and through who’s got a helping hand and Emilia may be a city girl who wants a fresh start but opposites attract and sparks fly between these two, and the insta-connection but slow to burn romance is well worth the wait. Because the banter and tension will keep you walking a tight rope the entire book!
Truly I loved this book from start to finish, the characters were impossible not to love… I mean Emilia is a literal ray of sunshine who isn’t afraid to throw around the sass and show her steel back bone when necessary and Garth is a rough and tumble cowboy who knows more grunts than words but has a heart of gold and who is willing to stand up for anyone he loves without a second of hesitation. So for anyone looking for a read chalk full of emotion, heart, so many amazing characters, a sprinkle of drama, a dash of spice and a fabulous happily ever after than I highly recommend adding The Runaway and The Rugged to your TBR!
This book is a slow burn cowboy romance featuring a damsel in distress Emilia, a woman who's on the verge of marrying the wrong guy, and Garth, a broody, grumpy single dad cowboy. The story really shines as you watch Emilia find her voice and take control of her life, with Garth stepping in to offer unexpected support.
Emilia's journey begins when, on her wedding day, she escapes her controlling fiancé and ends up lost on the beautiful but treacherous Hideaway Haven Ranch. With blisters from her wedding heels and nowhere to turn, she's rescued by none other than Garth, the rugged cowboy who seems like he's been carved out of Texas itself. He's got a protective streak a mile wide, a mustache that somehow adds to his charm, and a soft spot for Emilia the moment they meet. Garth's daughter, Grace, is also a standout character, her wit and spunk added a delightful layer to the story.
Emilia is determined to stand on her own after escaping a toxic relationship, and Garth is trying to navigate his own struggles as a single dad. It's in the small moments between them; Garth showing her the ropes of life on the ranch, rescuing her from a bar, that their connection deepens. Though the romance was a slow burn and could have used a little more chemistry, I did appreciate the found family aspect of the story and the relationship between Emilia and Grace, which was really sweet.
The slow build between Garth and Emilia is part of the charm, but it can also feel a little frustrating at times. The chemistry between them took a while to fully develop, and while the slow burn worked for the most part, I did feel like it lacked some intensity. That being said, when things did heat up, it was definitely worth the wait!
I could not get enough of Garth and his support with Emilia, when she thought he was going to be the way her ex was with her again and tell her what to do and how she is supposed to feel. Garth did the opposite, yes did he have trouble with telling her how he felt at point but he eventually showed his vulnerable side and let her in. He never thought he would find someone who would make him feel the way Emilia did but she shinned through for him and grace.
I’m not intrigued to find out who the next book is about? Perhaps Griffen and Clarke or Shane and Greta? There were so many Easter eggs on the book and the ending, can we talk about this!? I am not done with Garth and Emilia’s story, I NEED more!
If you’re a fan of damsel in distress stories, The Runaway and The Rugged might just be your perfect read. While I liked the book overall, it did feel like something was missing, maybe due to the pacing or the gradual build of the romance. It lacked a certain spark that could have taken it from good to great, but despite that, I still found it to be an enjoyable, light read. If you’re looking for a cowboy romance with a small town vibe, a grumpy cowboy, and a bit of spice toward the end, I’d recommend giving it a try. It may not have completely hit the mark for me, but I’m still interested in reading the rest of the series to see how things unfold with other characters like Beau and Clarke.
