An enjoyable read although many of the numbers are so large it is difficult to comprehend. There are many times where analogies are drawn to things that can be imagined but other times when just numbers are presented which makes it hard to put in context. All in all an enjoyable read, provides some ideas for possible future reading as well.

I honestly thought this book would be a lot of measurements and their importance. I was pleasantly surprised to go on a journey through McDonald's experiences investigating science as a journalist. Honestly, I didn't realize vortices would be as integral to our world as they are. I don't look at birds flying or fish swimming the same way.
I've had the pleasure of hearing McDonald speak at a solar eclipse and his enthusiasm for science is so genuine it's wonderfully infectious. That's actually how I found his book.
If you like to ponder McDonald is nutritious food for the brain!
