Once Upon a Blossom's Curse

Rate this book
A Love Lost. A Cursed Touch. An Arranged Marriage.

Genevieve Ashcroft can never marry for true love. Not as the Crown Princess of Naseria. Not with the blueblood’s magical gift. Not when her gift is actually a curse that makes any man fall in love after a single caress. And certainly not after Kieran Greenbluff abandoned her, only to die in mysterious circumstances.

Two years before her coronation, at twenty-eight, Genevieve makes the practical decision to enter a marriage of alliance. Prince Leland Frostclaw of Icelantica is everything she needs in a Consort– steadfast, diplomatic, and a powerful blueblood.

Until Mr. Morris Blackwell, a self-made redblood mining and railway magnate arrives ready to expand his enterprise into Naseria. It only takes one touch, one dance for Genevieve to know Kieran isn’t dead, he’s holding her in his arms.

When Kieran vows to ruin Genevieve, and instances of a mysterious rot begin spreading throughout the kingdom, Genevieve must resist the temptations of her treacherous heart and stay true to her duty.

But her cursed heart still belongs to Kieran, and it just may betray her all over again.

I was completely charmed and swept away by this romantic fantasy read with a princess given a second chance at love. Her touch is cursed and she has lost the one man she ever thought herself capable of loving. So she resigns herself to duty, until she finds herself in the arms of someone who can claim her heart. He comes to ruin her, for that’s what she did to him. All the romantic , chest squeezing warmth vibes of a great romance. Add in some truly wonderful mystery about what’s going on and some strained politics and this was a read with so much heart and fun that I throughly enjoyed it and could not put it down.

If you are looking for an enjoyable Romantasy filled with danger, magical bloodlines and rules meant to be followed, yet broken…. Then this book is for you.

I read this book within two days. This is my first Audrey Lynn book and I can say without a doubt, it will not be my last.

In this story the reader follows Genevieve (Gen) as she prepares to take over the crown from her mother, as her birthright states. However, to deem fit in the current Queen and councils eyes, she needs to be wed.

Finding a suitable person to fill those shoes has proven difficult because Gen is cursed with a touch, that changes people and not always in a pleasant way.

There has only ever been one person she truly loved and has longed for. But he was removed from her life years ago which ended in tragedy.
Choosing a suitor to align the empires is best. So that is what she decides to do.

Meanwhile, a magical rot is spreading over the land and she needs to fix it before it causes more damage and death amongst people.

Her betrothed brings in a knowledgeable man who has experience with the magical stone that is the cause of the rot. With his ingenious way to reuse the stone in a positive way to build a rail system. However, when he arrives…. Things change and drama begins.

This was a well written story which showcased true love and the depths one will take. With some detailed, spiced up scenes in the mix.

There are also some heated situations, dangers and heavy deception and betrayal within the story.

One thing to note is the beautiful illustrations included in this book. I read an ecopy and can only imagine how they look in print.

This is a riveting tale of loss, obligation and the lasting power of love. Princess Genevieve lost the love of her life. She has never been able to form a lasting relationship with the doubts her ‘gift’ leaves her with. Always doubting whether a man wants you or is being compelled by other forces would be horrible. Only one man has ever withstood the gifts force. Her alliance with Prince Leland made for a nice friendship in the end. But her romance with Blackwood is what keeps you glued to the pages. Their chemistry is undeniable, their love withstanding all external forces. I loved this cast of characters and am so excited for the enemies to lovers romance of Queen Kalise and Gabriel. Those two are going to be combustible. I thoroughly enjoyed this story with its mystery and love and friendship.

Absolutely loved this first installment in the Corset Strings and Cups of Tea series!

This gaslamp romantasy has total Bridgerton vibes. Genevieve and Kieran were each other’s first love—first everything. When fate tears them apart, Genevieve is left devastated, while Kieran vows to ruin her.

Fast forward nearly a decade, and Genevieve agrees to an arranged marriage as the practical choice to secure an alliance despite her blueblood curse. When Morris Blackwell, a self-made railway magnate, arrives alongside her betrothed, Genevieve realizes her past may not be as buried as she believed.

The stakes may be low, but the emotions are anything but. This second-chance romance will break your heart and carefully stitch it back together. Genevieve and Kieran are magnetic—drawn together despite everything standing in their way.

If you love yearning, restraint, and emotionally charged second-chance romance wrapped in a lush gaslamp setting, you won't want to miss this one!

✨Once Upon a Blossom’s Curse✨

Y’all… I’m a sucker for second chance romance and, if you are too, then you NEED this precious and heartbreaking Romantasy standalone (🤫 with a happy ending).

We follow a dual POV from our MCs and fall into the story nine years after Genny’s heart was broken from the abandonment then death of her beloved. Until now, she has grieved, but the time for her to take the crown is near and she has decided to take a prince from a neighboring kingdom as her husband. She only hopes that her power of “love” won’t ruin this agreement as it has ruined all the relationships before. When the prince arrives along with his friend and up and coming train developer, Morris Blackwell, Gen finds that her past may not be as closed as she thought it to be. Riddled with hidden identities, looming corruption, murder mystery, withheld information, a conniving mother, and the appearance of a figure from her past, Gen must decide if she will continue to choose the crown over love, dooming herself to a continued life of despair, or stand up once and for all.

The stakes are low, but the tension and yearning is HIGH. Audrey created a climax that stressed me OUT and I just clung to the knowledge of a HEA. This second chance romance gave me ALL the feels. I loved and despised characters and their decisions- sometimes both at the same time! But it was all SO intentional and I found myself missing being in these pages long after I closed the book. The memories of the past had me 🥹🥹 and Kieran is just to die for. I love that grumpy guy. And what Audrey has lined up next. Y’all. Y’all! We are not ready. 🤭 it’s going to be so good.

Tropes you may find in OUABC are hidden identities, second chance, slow burn to medium spice, arranged engagement, unique magics, MCs 28+, Wuthering Heights + Bridgerton vibes, she’s cursed by love, and a HEA.

Thank you, Audrey, for connecting with me and this gifted arc! I cannot WAIT for what you have in store for this next couple. 🤭😜

This was such a cute start to a new romantasy series that I’ll definitely be continuing!

The first thing that drew me in was the gorgeous cover. O M G, how freaking pretty is that?? As soon as I saw these characters, I knew I had to read this one!

The vibes were absolutely fantastic. It was the right amount of cozy but it still had some stakes to the overall plot with the mystery of the rot and our starring couple. Speaking of the rot, I loved being a bit of a detective trying to figure out what was causing it. The result was very interesting to say the least!

I adored that this was a second chance romance for childhood friends to lovers who were torn apart by…circumstances. I loved that Audrey gave us tons of flashbacks to when they were younger. I loved being able to see the before and current alongside each other as a kind of “where they were, here they are, where are they going” thing.

I loved the spice that we got throughout the book, especially a spicy carriage ride that I’m realizing I need more of in my life!

I absolutely cannot wait for book 2! I was thirsting over these enemies so hard the entire book that I can’t wait for that to combust!!

Thank you to Audrey Lynn for the eARC! The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.

thank you so much to the author for the ARC of once upon a blossoms curse in exchange for an honest review!

this book had all the makings of a story that i would absolutely love - cozy romantasy with strong Bridgerton vibes, a second chance romance with a forbidden element, an intriguing and unique magic system, and court politics.

but, unfortunately, this fell flat for me. at first, i felt like it really had potential and i was excited to keep reading. it was extremely easy to read and i sped through this in a way i don’t typically with romantasy novels. with that being said, i think being able to speed though this was not necessarily a good thing, but rather due to me feeling that virtually everything about the story felt very surface level and underdeveloped.

typically, i eat up a second chance romance. but with Gen and Kieren, i just felt like something was missing. Kieren came back into Gen’s life under the guise of “ruining her” - but this plan never actually materializes because he is instantly back to being smitten with her the second he sees her again. this did not allow for the angst, yearning, and pining that i typically devour in a second chance romance. Gen’s whole “do i do the right thing and stay with Leland or the wrong thing and go with Kieran” got a bit redundant after a while.

most of the plot felt far too convenient. any time the main characters were presented with a problem, they pretty much immediately were presented with a clear solution with virtually no strife or struggle to get said solution. the rot was always talked about but it didn’t seem like it was actually as big of a threat as they made it out to be. Gen and Kieran were insistent that they couldn’t be together for ~reasons~, but then easily found a way to be together. and the trial at the end with Gen’s sister was straight up odd - Mari just casually confesses to murder (albeit unintentional) - and Gen reacts in an incredibly underwhelming way, and basically nothing happens? and Gen’s evil mother, who previously seemed intent on getting her way no matter what, just abdicates the throne with virtually no resistance aside from one tiny little scene of being upset when leaving the castle? it all just felt so incredibly rushed and underdeveloped.

i do think this story had all of the right bones and i don’t think the writing was bad at all. but every facet of the story needed more depth and development. i needed more detail, more exploration into each main character’s head and psyche, and better world building.

at the end, we get a very clear set up for book 2. i’m not sure if i will be motivated to pick that one up when it’s released.

This is a cozy, gaslamp romantasy with strong Bridgerton vibes and a touch of The Princess Bride. I usually like more high stakes & action in a Romantasy, but the yearning & spice made up for it!

Princess Genevieve is destined to become queen at thirty, but a curse prevents her from truly finding love. To secure a political alliance, she agrees to an arranged marriage with a neighboring prince. Everything changes when Kieran—her first love, and the man she believed dead—suddenly reappears. While Genevieve spent years mourning him, Kieran has returned with anger in his heart and a plan to ruin her.

Despite the relatively low stakes, the emotional tension is palpable. Genevieve and Kieran share an undeniable, magnetic chemistry—pulled toward each other even as duty & resentment threaten to keep them apart. Their story is filled with the kind of aching yearning I absolutely love.

Looking forward to the next book in the series, which focuses on another couple—because their chemistry and banter already had me giggling and kicking my feet.

Spice:🌶️🌶️

If you’re looking for a cozy read, that will remind you of Bridgerton and the Princess Bride, filled with political intrigue, lies and betrayal, a slow burn, enemies to lovers romance, and a happily ever after then I definitely recommend grabbing a copy of Once Upon a Blossoms Curse!

I will say I enjoyed this book a lot, the romance in particular was really great. And I started off really liking our MFC Genny. She’s willing to do whatever it takes for the good of her people and her kingdom even if it means her heart pays the price. Now for me personally I did love her growth into a strong, powerful woman willing to take on anyone and everyone to do what is right as well as to protect those she loves, I wish it had happened a little quicker in the story though, but overall you just can’t help but love Genny and root for her! Kieran has a past with the royals, that’s soaked in pain and he won’t rest until they pay the price. At least that’s what he thinks until he coms face to face with his past and realized feelings he thought were long buried may have been waiting right under the surface this whole time. I really liked Kieran and reading from his POV, he’s clearly gone through some horrible things and his motives are clear as to why he’s looking for revenge. But the way he cares for those he loves, and is willing to put his feelings of vengeance aside if it means protecting those around him makes him just an amazing MMC. Overall if your in a Bridgerton slump and looking for a book that fits a similar vibe full of romance, spice, and plenty of twists and turns to keep you on your toes then I highly recommend Once Upon A Blossoms Curse.

Once Upon a Blossom’s Curse is a cozy, romantic, gaslamp fantasy. Princess Genevieve is set to become queen when she turns 30 but a curse prevents her from truly finding love. She is betrothed to a prince from another kingdom to form an alliance between their countries. Plans get turned upside down when, Kieran, her first love, shows up. She thought he was dead for all these years, but he is extremely mad at Gen and plans to destroy her life.

This book was so cozy and fun to read. It is a quick read with a fantasy world that is intricate enough to keep your interest, but simple enough that you don’t have to overthink things. There is family drama, a mysterious rot, second chance romance, magic, curses, and a lovely castle/kingdom setting.

The set up for the second book was really good and I am excited to read it. Thank you to the author for the advanced digital copy. All opinions are my own.

ARC Review 💕

I was hooked from the very first chapter — the kind of hooked where you tell yourself “just one more page” and suddenly it’s midnight.

This story carries strong Bridgerton-esque energy — candlelit ballrooms, quiet scandal, and yearning so thick it practically lingers in the air. But what truly made it shine for me was the emotional growth woven throughout the story. Watching the heroine slowly claim her voice, challenge expectations, and soften without losing her strength felt intentional and beautifully earned.

The romance isn’t loud — it simmers. It’s longing glances across rooms, tension in restrained dialogue, and vulnerability that unfolds gently instead of rushing toward resolution.

It felt like sipping tea in a sunlit drawing room while the world outside expects you to behave — and choosing not to.

If you love historical romance with depth, a little fantasy, slow-burn yearning, and character growth that actually means something, this one belongs on your shelf.

I already can’t wait to return to this world for book two. 🥰🌸

This is a fun dual POV second chance romance. There were lots of elements from stories I’ve read before that I loved and saw in this novel. I was reminded a bit by The Princess Bride in some parts, there was so much tension and yearning, and it reminded me a bit of Bridgerton as well (kind of regency era…in a fantasy world!)

If you’re in a bit of a Bridgerton hangover, this is the book for you—especially if you like a little bit of magic.

Thank you Audrey Lynn for the opportunity to read this ARC!

This was such a cute, swoony read! I flew through it because I genuinely couldn’t put it down. It was a really well-written romance, and the tension was absolutely delicious! Kieran and Genevieve were so cute together, and their reunion was just ughh so perfect. I knew from the moment we met Kieran again that I'd love him. ♥️

The worldbuilding was a standout, especially the detail that the royals have literal blue blood, such a fascinating and unique touch. The plot twists I didn't see coming and I really liked that. The side characters were actually interesting and added a lot to the story.

I plan to read the next book in the series! It seems that this series will have each book following a different couple. I'd say if you love Bridgerton than you'll love this book! This book has political intrigue, second-chance romance, cozy regency vibes, and a magical edge.

First off! I just want to say, my goodness! Who did this cover and the artwork? Because it is STUNNING!

Once Upon a Blossom’s Curse by Audrey Lynn has soooo many aspects that just drew me in. I love the magic and the manifestation of gifts in this world. When Genevieve’s gift manifested, it slightly screwed her plans of marrying for love. Her gift was Lust. However, her mother, the Queen, decided to call it Love because Lust would be just way to scandalous. But this gift of Lust meant that whenever a man touched her skin, he becomes overtaken with the desperate and animalistic need to have her and have her NOW. Thereby causing Genevieve to ever give up any hopes of actually finding true love again after her first love, Kieran (because they were ACTUALLY in love before her gift ever manifested), disappeared and supposedly died of a tragic accident. Now Genevieve is making the political decision to marry and ally with Icelantica.

One of the primary concerns Genevieve wants to address when she takes the crown in 2 years time is the helachite misusage. A businessman is to come into town to help design a plan to contain the rot that has been seeping into their borders and destroying their land. This businessman seems extremely familiar and I highly enjoyed this part of the book. I would have also loved to see more about the helachite and maybe have been introduced to the other lands that had been affected by it a lot more.

The romance and intrigue is fun. I loved the spice and I just can’t wait to see where this goes in the next installment of this series!

I want to start off by saying how grateful I am to the author for sending me her arc, this story was sweet and beautifully written.

That being said, I am a huge lover of plot and the plot that was laid out for this story was an amazing idea, unlike anything I’ve read & I was looking forward to there being more details & just more. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. There were things about this read that left me scratching my head, wondering where are we at?

1) There being 2 different types of blood: we get a clue in on what that means but nothing deep. I feel like this was a wonderful plot but it was just left stagnant & it was there but never explored.

2) The spread of the rot: I really would have enjoyed a bit more on the why, the how & the fix of it… it was almost as if I was presented with this insane ordeal that is causing destruction to the kingdom but then it’s kind of just brushed over & then kind of left hanging at the end.

3) The crown: I would have really enjoyed more on the abdication of the crown, the queen is such a strong, unlikable character that having to miss out on those details in the end was unfortunate. I would have really enjoyed more on that. I also would have loved more on why the queen forced her ungifted daughter to do what she did but not the ungifted son? That was a major key in the entire plot & it was just swept right over. The ending felt rushed & some major details were missed in my opinion.

4) The characters were very interesting, it felt repetitive in a lot of scenes and conversations. I didn’t like how the MMC constantly doubted her word & how the FMC constantly worried over the crown without ever going any further. I personally would have enjoyed more on her becoming queen. The whole court scene was very confusing & so much more could have been done through that.

5) This is a personal opinion of mine but I felt like there were more lustful scenes that filled in the gaps that couldn’t been filled with more.

Overall it was a good read. I am a detail oriented reader and where I miss those things, others may not. I did enjoy the writing style, I just wished there were more details & backstory to better understand the setting.

Advanced Reader Copy Review 3.5 Rounded Up
I was given an advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

I’m so excited to be reviewing my very first ARC! 🥹📖
Thank you to Audrey Lynn for providing an advanced copy of this book.

I originally picked up Once Upon a Blossom’s Curse for the Bridgerton-style atmosphere and soft romantasy vibes 💐✨, and it ended up being the perfect palate cleanser between more intense fantasy reads. This story delivers a cozy, romantic experience with just enough intrigue to keep the pages turning.
Once Upon a Blossom's Curse is great for:
🌸 Cozy romantasy

👑 Regency/Bridgerton vibes

💞 Second chance romance

🚫❤️ Forbidden love

👥 Dual POV
🔥 A spicy carriage scene

💃 Ballroom galas and royal drama

✨ A cursed FMC
🥀 A yearning MMC

🕵️‍♀️ A mystery surrounding a plague-like rot

The story follows Princess Gen, who is set to inherit the throne in just a few years 👑. Her mother, the queen, is determined to secure a political alliance by arranging Gen’s marriage to a neighboring prince.

However, Gen carries a powerful curse that prevents her from getting too close to potential suitors ⚡. To complicate matters further, she must marry someone with royal “blue blood” rather than a commoner with “red blood.”

Gen is also still haunted by memories of her first love, Kieran, the gardener’s son she grew up with in the castle 🌿🏰. He disappeared nearly nine years ago, and she believes him to be dead.

As wedding preparations begin 💍, a mysterious businessman arrives who uncannily reminds her of Kieran. Unable to shake the feeling that something isn’t right, Gen begins uncovering his true identity along with a dangerous rot spreading across the kingdom 🖤 and a political conspiracy brewing within her own royal family.

A few years ago I read the first book in the Bridgerton series, and I have to admit I actually enjoyed Once Upon a Blossom’s Curse even more! 🌸 It was a cozy and enjoyable read, and I especially loved the dual POV and the mystery elements woven throughout the story.

Personally, I would have loved a map of the world 🗺️ to help visualize the setting, but it was still easy enough to follow. The pacing felt strong at the beginning and the end, though the middle dragged slightly as Gen went back and forth on her decisions. That said, I was satisfied with the choice she ultimately made.

✨ Overall: a charming romantasy with cozy royal court vibes, second-chance romance, and political intrigue to keep things interesting.

ONCE UPON A BLOSSOM’S CURSE by Audrey Lynn - 4,5✨

Princess Genevieve’s magical touch is a curse that forces any man to fall in love with her. Years after her first love, Kieran, supposedly died, she enters a strategic marriage —only for Kieran to return seeking revenge. As a mysterious rot threatens the kingdom, Genevieve must choose between her duty and a heart that still belongs to him.

“Against my own judgement, I care for you far too much, Gen.”

If my schedule had allowed for it, I would have easily finished Once Upon a Blossom’s Curse in just two days. While the aesthetic of the setting reminded me of Bridgerton, the soul of the story felt much more like Wuthering Heights. It features a slightly bratty (sorry, Gen) upper-class protagonist falling for a lower-class boy who has been pushed aside by society: Genevieve and Kieran’s dynamic mirrors Cathy and Heathcliff, especially in how Kieran is discriminated against for the colour of his blood. Linton becomes Leland, the perfect-on-paper husband, while Kieran comes back, much like Heathcliff, as a wealthy businessman ready for revenge. In all honesty, OUABCmight have even suited a gothic atmosphere more than the cheery Bridgerton aesthetic.

One thing I always look for in high fantasy is accountability. I want to know if the characters in power are actually aware of the world’s problems, or if the story is just a shallow escapist fantasy. This book happily falls into the first category. The rot caused by helachite mining and its devastating effects on the working class is a central plot point, and I suspect this focus on social consequences will continue in future instalments.

The romance itself was complex. I don’t usually enjoy the second-chance trope, but this story ticked all the right boxes. The themes of betrayal and revenge added so much tension to Genevieve and Kieran’s scenes; his deep-seated hatred allowed for a level of yearning that made their connection feel much more meaningful. Even the villain of the piece was well-written: they (I won’t spoil who they are) got on my nerves so much that I found myself genuinely invested in their downfall.

The supporting cast is just as strong as the leads. Much like the Bridgerton siblings, I hope these side characters get the chance to find love in their own dedicated books. Aside from them, I am already begging for a novella specifically about Clemmy and Griffin’s story.

**I was granted this eARC by the author. This has not affected my opinion.**

If you love Bridgerton and fantasy stories, then you will love this.

Princess Genevieve is preparing to take over her mother’s crown and to do that she needs a husband by her side. However, her gift or rather her curse makes every man fall wildly in lust with her. There’s only one man she’s ever truly loved but he left without saying goodbye 9 years ago and now he’s dead.

Told in dual pov, this is a gaslamp romantasy with court intrigue and a mysterious magical rot spreading across the land.

I enjoyed Genevieve & Kieran’s relationship. The tension, the spice, the lies and betrayals. I really enjoyed the flashbacks too which helped build the foundations of their relationship.

There are a great mix of characters and I liked Clemmy and Astoria. I really want more of Prince Gabe and Queen Kalise though and hope the next book is focused on their story.

I’m not always the biggest fan of historical romances but I did really enjoy this book. It was easy to read, well paced and kept me invested throughout.

Overall, I rate this 4⭐️ and will definitely be reading the next book when it comes out.

I loved this book! It was such a fun read. I really enjoyed the magic system, the cursed love story, and of course the sexy scenes. 😉
The family dynamics were also really interesting. The FMC has a very complicated relationship with her strong-willed mother, the Queen, but she’s very close with her siblings, which I loved seeing throughout the story.
Our FMC carries a magical curse—any man who touches her loses control and falls for her. Because of that, marrying for love feels impossible, even though that’s what she truly wants. Instead, she’s expected to marry for duty as the Crown Princess and future Queen.
But her heart still longs for her lost love, the man who supposedly died nine years ago… 👀
What I really admired about her was how deeply she cares about her country and her people. Her willingness to make difficult choices and put her kingdom first really shines through in everything she does.
And yes… the spicy scenes and dirty talk were chef’s kiss. 😉🤌🏽
Will she marry and fulfill her duty as Princess and future Queen?
Or does fate have something very different planned for her?
Read the book and find out!

Masked balls. Forbidden glances. Victorian-era yearning.

Once Upon a Blossom’s Curse felt like the prettiest little Victorian daydream. It's a soft, romantic, and quietly emotional palette cleanser that's easy to sink into.

Gen and Kieran both have such satisfying growth arcs not just individually, but in how they learned to rebuild what was broken between them. The repair felt earned, not rushed, which made it even more satisfying.
The banter? Immaculate. I giggled. I kicked my feet. I fully leaned in.

The side characters added so much personality and heart, making the whole world feel alive. Just when you get wrapped up in the romance, the emotional moments hit!

First off, thank you to the author for this ARC opportunity! 🌸
Once Upon a Blossom’s a curse was a fun & classy read.
The gas-lamp fantasy setting, cursed-touch magic, forbidden love and second-chance romance are all tropes I enjoyed. The atmosphere and aesthetic were definitely the strongest part of the book. As someone who loves Bridgerton, the royal court, political marriage tension, dialogue and scenery were amazing.
(And can we talk about the correspondence at the end of the book? LOVED.)

Once Upon A Blossom's Curse follows Princess Genevieve, who chose to pursue a marriage of alliance with Prince Leland. She was sure she'd never love again after her childhood best friend abandoned her and supposedly passed away.

That is until Genevieve meets Mr. Blackwell, immediately recognizing him as Kieran. The temptation and tension start to grow as old feelings begin to rise.

I loved Kieran's character. Even though he had suffered through so much trauma, all he wants is to improve the lives of others. He vowed to ruin Genevieve but still has so much love for her. He shows it every time he's there for her and leaves her flowers on her nightstand.

Genevieve, although lacking knowledge of her family's secrets, truly wants the best for her people and her land. I'm so thankful that Kieran and Genevieve got their second chance; seeing their love story grow was beautiful.

The romance was full of tension, love, and banter. The storyline had magic and conflict, which kept the story interesting. I'm hopeful there will be a book two. I want to see Gabe's and Queen Kalise's relationship because I know it'll be a beautifully written enemies-to-lovers with lots of banter.

Thank you to Audrey for entrusting me with an early copy!

Once Upon a Blossom's Curse by Audrey Lynn
Standalone but appears to be setting up interconnected standalones!
Releases 3/6!

Dual POV, arranged marriage, second chance, cursed gift, hidden identity, rot affecting the land, corrupt queen, unique magic, who did this to you, he falls first (again), Victorian influenced, political intrigue, childhood friends, mystery element

Princess Genevieve's gift is actually a curse. It makes men lust for her when they touch her. Knowing this, but also knowing she must find a husband, she arranges herself a marriage with a neighboring prince. But a ghost from her past comes with him. Now she must focus on getting to know her fiancé while trying to ignore her past love and try to learn more about a dangerous rot threatening her people.

This was a fun one! I loved the Victorian vibes but with magic and how it felt kind of cozy and low stakes but also did have the mystery of what was threatening the people. Genevieve's curse was so heartbreaking and I felt so much for her as she was trying to do what was right for her people and her family. The ending very much felt like it was leading to another book with a different couple that I'm quite excited for! I will be watching for that and can't wait to read that one and hope to learn more about the world and the magic!

***ARC READ*** just want to say thank you to the author for sending me this ARC. It had a very slow start but as it got going, the story definitely picked up. Toxic family, lost lover, forbidden love, arranged marriage. So many good tropes. I did wish they explained certain aspect more but overall it was a solid read.

This book was a solid read for me. It did start off a bit slow, but once I hit the second half I was fully invested. The worldbuilding and the magic/curse elements were well done. If you’re a trope lover, this one delivers, abuse of power, arranged marriage, enemies to lovers, and a toxic family dynamic all wrapped into one. Definitely worth sticking with if you enjoy a slow build that pays off.

I am a sucker for a cute and sappy romance with a bit of mystery subplot.
OUABC was exactly that. Genevieve and Kieran will have you yelling about friends to enemies to lovers for days on end.
I loved this book so much!

ARC review-
The yearning in this book was so much fun 😩 it was so bridgerton coded but with fantasy and dare I say a hint of GOT vibes mixed in.

I loved how quick the chapters were and how much tension there was for most of the book.

I will say I wish there was more depth and the ending felt a little rushed to me but overall this was such a cute book and I’m so excited for the next one!! 😍
