Actionable Wisdom
Ouch! Sheep & Shepherds Bite by Thomas Shuck is filled with actionable wisdom to help you overcome church hurt. The author begins by reminding his readers that bitterness is a self-inflicted wound. Failure to forgive is like taking poison yourself to get back at the person who hurt you. This sets the tone for the book that is really about slaying bitterness.

The book is easy to read and understand. The author writes in a conversational style. While it is filled with biblical references, it is not “preachy.” Instead, it is very down to earth and practical. Each chapter ends with “Application Questions” to help you to apply the teachings to your life. Chapter 3 is a standout and offers the book’s best advice – “Fix your eyes on Jesus, not just the person behind the pulpit.”

If you have ever experienced church hurt, you will appreciate the healing power in this book. The author takes his readers on a journey toward hope. Additionally, the approach to forgiveness is excellent.

Overall, I recommend this book. You will appreciate the biblical truths within the pages. It can help you find clarity and peace.
