Beautiful story, beautifully written (read in the original Afrikaans). Imaginative, poetic, haunting and extremely sad in the end. Hard to imagine that these kinds of things truly happened. Definitely well worth the read but be prepared that the end is very tragic. If you want to get the benefit of the good parts without the tragic end, it would be worth reading up to the end of part 2 or chapter 3 of part 3 only.
