They must come together or fall as oneIn the crumbling kingdom of Dengar, a race of winged warriors rules over the blasphemous Dyrfaldur shifters. The Gods once gifted the Aervel with Theos, Elemental Celestial magic, necessary for the kingdom’s survival. A century ago, the Gods took it away, demanding a group of champions pass a series of trials in a treacherous labyrinth to reearn the right to wield the Gods’ power.

Nyx, a half-blood bastard, is trapped in cold isolation due to her birth. A rebel princess with secrets, Nyx has her world shaken when she gets pulled into the Labyrinth. The worst part? Her protective bodyguard for the trials is her false foe with whom she shares a dangerous sapphic chemistry.

Harvey, the dominant heir prince, doesn’t ask… he demands. All of this changes when he meets Jordan, a chaos-bringer and forbidden temptress. Pulled into the Labyrinth, he must withstand his sinful guardian’s unholy temptation, stay loyal to his secret fiancé, and most importantly, stay alive.

Into the Labyrinth is an adult dark fantasy romance novel with sapphic spice, bisexual heat, and brutal trials.

I just finished this dark fantasy / grimdark romance novel and it easily earned a 5/5 from me. The story takes place in a world where survival depends on a mysterious force called Theos, which is slowly fading away. As Theos weakens, society begins to fall apart, and the only hope left is for a select group chosen by the gods to enter a deadly labyrinth filled with trials, traps, and hidden truths.

What makes the story especially compelling is the forced partnership between Aerevel, a member of the nobility, and Dryfaldur, a group that society views as lesser. Under normal circumstances, these two would never work together, let alone trust each other, but inside the labyrinth they have no choice. Survival depends on cooperation, even when centuries of prejudice and mistrust stand between them.

Their dynamic drives much of the story. The book leans strongly into enemies-to-lovers tension, and their clashing perspectives create constant friction. Both characters are morally complex, shaped by the harsh world they live in, and watching their relationship slowly evolve from hostility to reluctant understanding, and eventually something deeper, was one of my favorite parts of the novel.

The labyrinth itself is brutal and unpredictable, filled with dangerous obstacles, betrayals, and moments where alliances shift without warning. The story is packed with twists and revelations that constantly raise the stakes, making it impossible to guess what will happen next.

Between the unforgiving grimdark setting, the intense character dynamics, the enemies-to-lovers romance, and the constant twists throughout the labyrinth, this book was gripping from beginning to end. If you enjoy dark fantasy with high stakes, morally gray characters, and romance developing in the middle of chaos, this is definitely worth reading 💕💕

I wasnt sure at the start and I'm really glad I stuck with this book as I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story is really compelling, with trials, fluid relationships (LGBTQ+ rep), strong character growth and likeable MCs (and very unlikeable protagonists!!) - the ending set it up really well for book 2.

I would have appreciated more backstory on the minotaur war, and Harvey and Titan's relationship. The writing was a little clunky but developed as the book went on so I have high hopes it will continue to grow over the series - which I will certainly be excited to continue.

3.5 star but potential to be 4 with a little more editing!
