We are welcoming our end ever closer. These pages detail stories of our demise, each one from a different time, about a divergent lifeline.
Can you piece the tale together? Can you run from the end? Is the evil coming for your lifeline?

Lifelines is a collection of short stories, ideal for a quick scare. While they tie into my series - “HUMANITY FALLS”, each tale can be enjoyed as a standalone. They aren’t strictly connected to “WHAT WE LEAVE BEHIND” and “IF WE WERE ONE”, but avid fans will find extra easter eggs hidden within the blood-soaked pages. There may also be later connections to my follow-up fantasy series “DARKNESS RISES” too...
I would best describe this book of thriller short stories, somewhere between episodes of Twilight Zone and Black Mirror. They are full of storyline, suspense, horror, creepy, and everything a reader wants from a thriller.
Having read the first two books in both Dave Haywood's thriller and fantasy series, it was fun to see things piece together. This book is full of puzzle pieces, Easter eggs, codes, and hidden messages.
Having the knowledge from his other books made reading this book so much more enjoyable. Reading this was like playing detective to try and piece together the puzzle to solve the mystery of it all.
I like the book however I am not fan of horror!! I enjoyed the book!!

Humanity is falling. Failing. Flailing.

I dont even have words for this book, opening with a beautiful, dark & delicious poem, to stories of death, murder, the worst luck & the end of humanity.
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time & I am obssesed with the fact that all of Dave's book are connected!!
On the surface Lifelines is a collection of short, brilliantly written, thrilling/scary stories. For fans of Dave's other books it is so much more with Easter eggs weaving threads throughout all the books. It can be enjoyed as a complete standalone; if you're looking for something you won't want to put down (apart from to turn on the big lights and hide from the monsters) then this will be your ideal spooky season read.
Some key quotes I sent to Dave as I read it: "Chapter... I think I'm going to vomit" "Omg no not the nightmare....again"
As well as the jumping and hard pounding I may have even shed some tears. When something happens at the end I wanted to go straight back to the beginning and re-read it.
If you’re looking for something to get you in the spooky season mood then this is it! A collection of short stories that will make your toes curl, your hair stand up and make you question your bravery. I love this collection, the way Dave writes is pure genius. If you’re new to Dave’s books then you’re in for a treat! This can be read as a standalone or if you are a die hard fan then you with be fed tidbits ready for the future books to come! With Easter eggs scattered throughout (Dave works with all seasons) 🤣 which link all his books and intwine the characters this truly is an exceptional piece of written. From ghostly figures, creepy houses, terrifying mist, witches & werewolves this book has it all! It absolutely is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read!
This book was amazingly creepy, and left me wanting more! Dave did it again, he never disappoints. I like how these are short stories, for a short commitment when you don't want to dive into a novel. I highly recommend.
Lifelines is an absolute masterpiece of horror and imagination. Each story grips you with tension, dread, and the creeping realization that humanity’s end might already be written. The author’s ability to craft vivid worlds and haunting imagery is extraordinary. Every tale feels connected, even when it stands alone chilling, clever, and utterly unforgettable
