The Weirdies #4
The Weirdies: The Weirdest One of All
At last, we have nearly reached the end of our grim tale. When the Handsome Lawyer proposes (gross, love), Barnacle, Melancholy, and Garlic do not react well, sparking a cross-country adventure to bring the man Miss Emily loves back home. Unfortunately, everywhere the triplets go, trouble follows, and in this case, so do a bunch of wild characters, making it hard to stay under the radar. All the while Mr. Weirdie and the Enchantress are holding Miss Emily captive, forcing her to teach them how to be good people. Will anyone get the happy ending they deserve? Or will all of these awful people end up where they started?

All in all, I definitely liked this fourth and last book much better than the second and third! This finale reminded me a lot more of the first book because it didn’t rely too heavily on references to pre-existing media. While there was still plenty of signature silliness, it felt like a much stronger narrative flow.
My Reactions & Emotions
A Sweet Romantic Conclusion: I really liked that the adopted mom and the handsome lawyer ended up together, though I found it kind of hard to believe the miscommunication that happened around her not wanting to get married. I was actually very upset when the handsome lawyer decided to move!
A Funny Personal Connection: I found it super funny that the handsome lawyer’s name is Reggie because my husband and I have a giant teddy bear with the nickname Reggie. Now I can’t stop picturing him in a business suit!
What I Loved
The Best Animal Additions: I absolutely loved the three raccoons and everything they added to the story! They brought such a fun dynamic to the book.
A Sweet Return to Form: The ending was very sweet and the last reference to Melancholy checked out perfectly. Compared to how I rated the rest of the series (the first book got 4 stars, the second got 3 stars, and the third got 2 stars), this one for sure improved upon the previous sequels and brought back what I liked about the original.
How to Get 5 Stars
I was really struggling with how to rate this, but it landed on a four because I definitely liked it better than the three-star second book. To get a full 5 stars, the twist with the narrator needed to go. I wasn't expecting it at all, and I kind of didn’t like it.
Overall, it definitely wasn't the best book I've ever read, but it delivered a very sweet conclusion and captured the charm of the first book well.

I love this series. The author breaks the forth wall and the narrators (the first two was Kate Winslet and the last two are Helena Bonham Carter. They make the story much more interesting and funnier!

This series has become my absolute favorite! I am always waiting for the next book to drop, but lets be honest. I will wait 2 years for another if I have to, I just don't want to! I want to see what else these zany kids get up to!
I loved seeing how much they continue to grow within their journeys they call life. They are ushered with Emily their adoptive mother, and her boyfriend. And let's just say this boyfriend has some serious secrets I can't wait to see unfold!
✨️ All opinions are my own, honest, and voluntary✨️.

Hands down the best series to read with kids.

These stories are fun and funny at times. this one is the exception. This IS the weirdest one of all because its not even a story. its a field guide for the woke. all of chapter 4 is nothing but a woke rant that has NOTHING to do with the story. then throughout we get long snippets of the narrators personal life that have nothing to do with the story. it's a woke train wreck.

This book stinks. Two to the characters have a silly little tiff about getting married. And end up just "choosing each other every day." That is just stupid. Sadly Goodreads doesn't allow zero stars so I begrudgingly give it a one.

I’m honestly a little sad to say goodbye to The Weirdies series! This has become one of our absolute favorite series, and we have listened to these books over and over again. Even after finishing the series, I know we’ll be coming back to these characters and their wonderfully weird world.
The Weirdies: The Weirdest One of All was such a fun way to finish the series. The deeper we’ve gotten into these books, the more we’ve fallen in love with the characters, their crazy lives, and all of the wonderfully unexpected chaos that comes with them.
This series feels like The Addams Family meets A Series of Unfortunate Events, with humor, heart, weirdness, and plenty of craziness mixed together. It’s funny, sometimes a little sad, completely unpredictable, and so much fun to experience as a family.
The audiobook narration has also been a huge part of our enjoyment of this series, and Helena Bonham Carter brought such a fun energy to the final books.
I’m definitely not ready for this series to be over. These Weirdies have officially become family favorites, and I can already tell we’ll be listening to them again and again.
5 stars from our family

The road to happiness - Reunited with Miss Emily again, the kids' latest mischief involves getting the Handsome Lawyer (he stuck around, and why don't we know his name) to come back home. The proposal was shocking and they couldn't handle it. But disliking the sadness they see in Miss Emily's eyes, a cross country chase by the 10-year-olds is afoot. So much chaos will lie in their wake, and many people will be miffed. While they are on the lam, Miss Emily and Tammy (and the raccoons) are kidnapped by the Weirdie elders. They want to know how to become better people. Releasing the ladies should have been a step forward but they are a work on progress. They kinda get there in the end, two more people graced with the beam of light that is Miss Emily. A fitting end to the series, a happily ever after achieved in a very weird, very wonderful way. Ms. Carter did a bang-up job with the narration.

I can’t believe this series is finally over! It’s such a fun little series of stories for children that includes great jokes for the adults. Helena Bonham-Carter was ana amazing narrator, and I love how she kept making asides for her “personal life” and what happened to the previous narrator. The story is basically another wild ride that keeps you entertained until the very end. I thought everything wrapped up quite nicely and I did not expect that plot twist with the reveal of who the narrator actually is in relation to the Weirdies! I definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a fun and quick story to listen to while on the go.

This is probably my favorite book out of the series. The twins remain as quirky and hysterical as ever, but they also grow a lot in their love for Emily and understanding of emotions. The ending wrapped up the series well, though the “twist” wasn’t particularly necessary. I laughed out loud quite a bit listening to this one. I prefer Kate Winslet’s narration in the first two books, but Helena Bonham Carter does an excellent job as well.

A few small notes…
1) WHY DO CHILDREN CHAPTER BOOKS ALWAYS MAKE ME CRY AT THE END.
2) I haven’t read a lot of children’s chapter books as an adult, but from what I have read- there’s a lot of adults who just don’t like children raising their children and those kids end up strange.
3) it was really cute and worth a few hours to listen to it. Helena Bonham Carter has a good voice and vocal quirks for narration.

The 4th in the series, possibly the last, but really cute. To have Helen Bonham Carter as the narrator was well picked and well done. The pop culture references and casual dark humor is great. Also, I 1000% love the wedding ending. Amazing. 4.5☆

weird.

Funny, cleaver, deviously dark 😅 not quite a children’s book in my opinion.

Another great (and final?) installment in the series. Helena does a great job narrating. Little quips and references are so funny. Highly recommend the series

A fun guilty pleasure made even better by Helena Bonham Carter as narrator.

My kids and I have listened to every Weirdy book and each one has had us rolling with laughter. We are so glad the end sounded open for more.
