Spell-less in Seattle

Rate this book
They say you can’t change the past. Apparently, they also forgot to mention how easy it is to accidentally get stuck there.

I was using my magic to track down my missing son, Tristan, when one wrong teleport sent my sisters and me careening into 1996 Seattle. Think grunge, frosted lip gloss, and dial-up internet slower than my mother’s telekinesis. Oh, and our magic? Bound tighter than a scrunchie on prom night. But now that I’m here, maybe I can stop Tristan’s disappearance before it ever happens. Sure, one wrong move could unravel everything I know, but what kind of mother would I be if I didn’t try?

Then a CB radio (yes, like truckers use) connects us to other misplaced witches. Including Jesse, who has no business looking that good in flannel or making me forget I can’t stay in this decade. Turns out someone chose 1996 as ground zero to destroy magic forever. And apparently, we’re the only ones who can stop it.

Now I’m juggling a powerless coven, an inconvenient attraction to a man from the wrong era, and two impossible save my boy from a future that hasn’t happened yet, and save magic itself… all without Google, a cell phone, or a clue.

Magic, mayhem, and messy emotions collide in this time-twisting magical midlife adventure that proves sometimes breaking all the rules might be the only way to set things right.

Lots of witchy chaos🌇

An intense atmosphere of impending doom hit me reading this, with witches crashing into a 1996 Seattle going through upheaval as a powerful duo seek to end magic for all time. The three sisters at the center of this series have no magical powers in the past but are ready to band together with the other time travellers from past and future and a few local witches to save magic and find their way back home. And Mona, the narrator, is desperate to find a way to get her disappeared son Tristan back, thinking that her trip to the past may help her find a way.

There's a bit of instant romantic connection that I liked and Mona's mission to bring Tristan back to her was moving. Mona's a momma bear willing to do just about anything for her son. The end was good and there was lots of action and suspenseful tension.

I would probably have rated it higher if I were a bigger fan of witch stories. The magical moves, ley lines and plethora of witches roaming the streets of Seattle were just not my thing right now. And I never really understood what was happening with Grandma: seems to be "sleeping with the enemy."😕

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

This time we are finding out why Mona, Brenna and Ginger ended up in the year 1996, about 30 years back into the past. While they still think teleporting went wrong, they're about to find out that they're not the only ones mysteriously ending up in Seattle. Unfortunately their money wasn't accepted back in 1996 so getting food and somewhere to shower is quite hard while sleeping in the attic of a club. Plus they don't have their magic since back then their Grandma who bonded it, is still alive. When they find a hidden magical radio frequency, they're getting to know Vicky and her brother Jesse who are from 1969. Jesse and Mona end up in a tea room where Gabby serves magic kinds of tea.

They learned that something huge must have brought all these different time travelers there and you'll be amazed to find out what that is exactly.

The ending makes me wish to go on reading the next story in this series because seriously, you can't leave me hanging like that 😆

Love this series and can't wait to read more.

OMG I loved this. We find ourselves stick back in 1996 with the sisters and no powers! Also no mobiles phones, no Google, dial up computers OMG and CB radios instead! Our sisters determined not to let this get them down, find themselves joining forces with other witches bought to this time from other eras and timelines to stop magic from being destroyed for good! There’s absolute mayhem and chaos as twists and turns and so many shocking surprises are thrown in our path and maybe, just maybe they can right a few wrongs along the way as they try to defeat the enemy and find their way back home.

It was fun and scary catching up with the sisters - Mona, Ginger, and Brenna. And the things we learn about Grandma Blanche was eye-opening in more ways than one.
Getting to know the other witches and their powers brought more life to the story, like meeting Vicky and Jesse would've never guessed their help and outcomes, especially Jesse and his choices. I loved Gabby and how she relates to the sisters.
Patiently waiting for next book and how Mona handles 2 of "them" and how our new Grandma blends in (and stands out)!

Spell-less in Seattle - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Whoever would have expected to be Spell-less in Seattle? Certainly not  witch Mona, who with her sisters, Ginger and Brenna, finds herself in a predicament none of them seem able to escape, partly due to the acts of their late Grandma Blanche.

Time travel and witches from differing eras add to the non-stop challenges,  fascinating twists, plus a romantic dilemma at the end that you won't have seen coming, before the siblings can get home.

I am absolutely loving this series. It's a mixture of quirky; funny; serious; laugh-out-loud; sadness and grief; suspense; danger; remorse, and a whole lot of sisterly love and mayhem.

I can't wait for the third book Impractical Magic, and am looking forward to learning what happens to Miles in the prison world.

I love the sisters! Mona, Brenna and Ginger are great with each other. Ending up in the late 90’s would be such a shock to my system, they had to figure out why they are there and how to get back home! No easy task to say the least.

This book grabbed me from page one to the very last word. I really enjoyed this book!

I enjoyed this second book in the series. The sisters get sucked back in time with a bunch of other witches from other times. They soon realize there is a battle to save magic and they are all needed to make sure it happens. New relationships form and they have to be careful not to change anything except for the person who kidnapped Mona's son. What happens is a big surprise.

Spells less in Seattle

Wow, this author is amazing! The books so far are great. Stacy Claflin is an amazing author. I can't believe that she just wrote all this supernatural stuff. I truly enjoyed reading this book and can't grasp how Stacy came up with the story line. The characters were so believable. I look forward to the next book.

Another fabulous story as the 3 sisters travel back in time and have the mystery of why to solve while also simply trying to survive. Needless to say they get more than they bargained for! Then we are left with a cliff hanger as we wait to see what happens.

What a story, absolutely brilliant. Loved everything about it. Making a mistake when using magic is definitely not a good thing. Landing in another year is even worse ,will they make it back. Read the story and find out, you won’t be disappointed.

I love this series so much! I relate to the main characters a little too well with their trials. This book in particular even hit me with all he feels going back in time to Seattle. And the unexpected character twist was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend this book!!!

Excellent

Hated to see it end. Great characters and Seattle setting. Really kept my interest. My house cleaning and sleep were delayed until I was done. Some real shockers and ending.

One twist after another, ending in a timeline that the three sisters never expected. Have to read book 3 to see how it all turns out.
