That was the rule Savanhi put into place after love and loyalty shattered or at least what she thought was love and loyalty. A rule she was hellbent on upholding until she crossed paths with Noble Paulson, Jr. Captivating and assuring, Savanhi dived into the depths of him, just for a night and a mutual agreement – no vested interest.
If Noble knows anything about rules, they’re made to be broken. His return home was ushered in by several uncertainties. However, there was one constant – he needed to be back in Savanhi’s space.
Taking every opportunity available to be in her space, he finds more than what he was looking for and everything he needed. The issue – convincing Savanhi that he is equipped to be everything she needs and then some.
Rules were made to be broken and that’s just what Savanhi and Noble did. After both of their significant others did them dirty, Savanhi and Noble implemented rules to safeguard their hearts. No more relationships and no more love. If it’s not about just sex, move TF around. But, an unexpected run in on the beach has these two rethinkin’ their own rules. You know what they say. If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. Breaking the Rules was a cute read. Savanhi was fightin’ for her life tryin’ to ignore her feelings for Noble but, my guy said “Aht! Aht! You gon’ get the love and soft life you deserve.” Lil Ms. Areli stole the entire book. Ms. Mamas was click clackin’ in her Princess heels and clockin’ it and I was here for it. There’s no way Aubree doesn’t make this a series because, too much was left unanswered. I need to know why Kym and Zay were hiding their relationship and I definitely need to know if Sincere finally grows TF up and get his woman. Inquiring minds want to know. Clock it!
This book was so good! I’m a sucker for a dancer who finds her Prince Charming and babyyy Deuce/Noble applied all the pressure to break down Savanhi’s walls! Things happened in the manner in which they were needed for them - there was healing, romance, drama, and laugh out loud moments. Now I need to know what Kym and Zay got going on.. 👀🤭
Aubree always gonna pull me out my book slump, I gave it the 5 but it’s really like a 4.75 only because I felt it took them too long to peep who the suspects were like it WAS IN OUR FACESSSS OFF TOP. I’m also a lil thrown off how Zay ain’t teach her to shoot or stab or nothing like I get everyone not a fighter but knowing your brother and that the man you was living with is into street stuff I would think you keep that thang on you. I am curious about the potential other couples to come but I’m also thrown off about how it will all work cus the family tree gonna be a bit twisted lol.
I enjoyed the love story of Savanhi and Noble with the mess that kept me glued in from the beginning. Both healing from cheating, trifling exes decided to have a one night stand but Noble can’t seem to get Savanhi out his head. Areli definitely stole the whole story and made me love her sassy self so much.
What I loved most about Noble and Sassy was how they stood on the boundaries and non-negotiables they set for themselves after having been burned previously by love. The story starts off really strong but peaked halfway through. Love the kids and all, but the niece was given too much room on the page.
Listen! This story was everything! But Areli?!?! That baby girl stole the show. I loved pretty much everyone in the story except the ones who had to be dealt with. I need it to fast forward 6 years right fast
This book was so good! CLOCKKKKK THATTTT TEAAAA 🤏🏾🤏🏾🤏🏾 I felt all the feels reading this one! Aubree put her big toes into the story! Breaking the rules…. My oh my! Get into it! A great ending that was well deserved. 🙌🏽
"Breaking the Rules" is a short and sweet sports romance that hits the ball right out of the park. As my first Aubree Pynn novel, Los Oceania presented a completely new world to me. However, the setting feels familiar thanks to Pynn's fantastic world-building skills. While the universe is clearly well-established from previous works, new readers, like myself, can easily follow along with the lore and immerse themselves in the story without feeling lost. Savhani and Deuce take center stage as the novel's protagonists, and Pynn masterfully utilizes the concept of "six degrees of separation" to weave their stories together. Each character arrives with their own emotional baggage, ultimately finding solace and healing in one another. Both Savhani and Deuce are likeable characters who inspire genuine empathy from readers, well from me (I can't speak for you), making their journey all the more intriguing. The story maintains a fast pace from the very first page. Readers are immediately thrust into the drama, and the momentum never falters throughout the story. The baseball setting proves to be the perfect backdrop for this romance, especially considering the devastating curveball that Pynn delivers at the end. This unexpected twist showcases her skillful manipulation of both sports metaphors and reader expectations, making for a truly memorable first reading experience.
Savanhi And Noble gave me all the feels, hunny. One night could never be enough because Noble was a MAN. They had both gone through so much, but their connection was instantaneous, and the chemistry just couldn't be contained by rules.
Okay, so this one opens with Noble Paulson, an MLB star, and Savanhi Day, a dancer. Both of them have just experienced heartbreaking betrayals, and because of that they’ve made rules for themselves: never fall in love again and protect their hearts at all costs.
But… rules are meant to be broken.
Watching those rules slowly crumble throughout this story was such a beautiful thing to witness.
Aubree Pynn really knows how to write a fated-mates type of love story, because these two were absolutely meant to be. After a night neither of them could forget, they tried their hardest to move on and act like it didn’t happen — but life had other plans. No matter what they did, they kept finding themselves back in each other’s orbit.
This was also a really beautiful story about sacrifice and showing up for the people you love.
Savanhi’s brother Zay has been riding for her their entire lives, and that bond between them was really touching to see. Then you have Noble and the way he loves on his sister Kym and his niece. Two men doing their best to show up for the women in their lives — and I loved that element of the story.
And speaking of Noble’s niece… little Areli was too cute and funny. Y’all know how I feel about kids in books — they usually get on my nerves — but when AP writes kids I always enjoy them because they actually have personality. My girl did not disappoint. Clock it. 😂
Of course we also got the funny moments that Aubree always delivers. Sincere had me cracking up, especially at that gender reveal scene. That boy is hilarious. And now, just like AP always does, she got me invested in a side character. I definitely need to see his story — especially whatever is brewing between him and Lawryn.
My heart really broke for Kym and Zay and what they went through, but that reveal has me excited to see how their redemption plays out. And see… there goes AP again giving me more side characters I now need books for 😂.
Sassy just wanted to be loved & cared for after existing for so long in a relationship that didn’t offer that. Deuce was tasked with being the protector of his family, but still longed for a covering for himself & a family of his own. And then they crashed into each other. Despite both of them creating “rules” to protect their hearts after being betrayed in the worst ways, their pull was magnetic & unexplainable. They both found softness and a safe space in each other and I loved it experiencing it! I enjoyed their banter and the little family they created with his niece (even tho she was annoying as hell to me lol) Deuce’s words matched his actions and I loved that for Sassy. Their love was fast and intense but so sweet and soft.
I don’t know if this will be a series but I can see a book for Sincere/Lawryn and Zay/Kymber
Messy 😮💨🔥 but sooo good! Noble (pro baseball player ⚾️) and Savanhi (ballet instructor 🩰/exotic dancer 💃🏾) both got played dirty 💔 but fate still pushed them together ✨. Their love came quick, real, and destined 💕. Aubree gave us them Cali vibes 🌴 and a love story that hit different 💯.
Zay & Kym better be next lol 😂 cause that ending… smh 🤦🏾♀️
4⭐️ 🌶️🌶️Savanhi and Noble are legit couples goals. Deuce is a top-tier man! He has made it to my book boyfriend list 😍Sassy is someone who didn’t let life’s struggles tear her down and turn her rotten. Not for nothing, but Areli is the star of the book! She received a star just on her character alone. I hope this is a series because it abruptly ended with a big plot twist. Yes, I’m petty. I took a whole star off because I didn’t like the damn ending, and there was no fucking epilogue.
I’m obsessed. The way they poured into each other!!! All the rules were broken on night one. I was mad at Savanhi for letting that man take the light out of her but her Noble knight brought it back. And Areli, that lil girl was the star of the show. Clock the tea!!!
Whooooooweeee! This was quite the book. Both MC’s start off with a bang & I was honestly bracing myself for what would come of the outcome of those first few chapters. I ate this book right on up. & the last chapter … SCREAMED ! I loved this book.
noble the man that you are. savanhi was ms thug it out fr and she deserved the soft life noble put her in, my heart hurt for her when she found out she was pregnant and started thinking noble wouldn’t want her because of the things brix said to her and did to her to make her have 2 miscarriages but i was glad to see noble reassure her on how much he loves her and wants their child.
5/5 ⭐️ I love a good strong, loyal, respectful, giving man! Oh Noble I think I’m in love ❤️ Already recommended this book to six people. This was my introduction to Ms. Pynn and let me tell you, I’m already adding her whole catalog to my tbr.
I read the trigger warning and still said "let's goooo" and GO it did cause by the end of chapter 2 almost all the things the author warned us about had already happened. It definitely heald my attention and I liked Sassy and Deuce as main characters. Having read several other books from this author and others with similar scenarios, this one however, did read a little less believable or felt questionable with disjointed details in some instances. Then the way certain things were revealed, like Mecole being the one to let Duece know about Brixx's sinister plan- how Sway, how did they know each other? And Brixx getting in the house, Remi's reason read a little flawed like she had something to do with it. What happened to Manny? Why was the dad writing letters like he was planning for death? Also Arieli's origin story cause wait what!? Did Zay know or nah? That part felt vague and unclear to me. Overall, the book held my interest, I liked the characters and the subject matter, and there was a little of everything, including plenty of laughs. But IN MY OPINION the execution of the story felt a little off in some instances and it left several unanswered questions making it a good read but not a great one.
It has taken me a few days to process my thoughts on this book. Being that it was an Aubree Pynn book, I was ready to be teleported to a new world. However, this book left a lot of plot holes and did not center enough on the MMC and FMC for me.
The goings-on of each main character’s siblings created plot holes on the depth of the relationship that is supposed to exist between the siblings. It took away from the love story unfolding. The side characters created a bit more of a distraction than adding to the story as comedic relief or as Easter eggs that you look forward to hatching in the future.
Our main characters story development was not enough for me. The love was NOT oozing off the pages. I’m not sure what made them the one for each other besides staying in toxic relationships too long.
My hope is that next time we focus more on the main characters and seeing them grow with side characters being just that side characters.
In Breaking the Rules, Aubree Pynn delivers a thoughtful and emotionally charged exploration of love, resilience, and the risks that come with breaking down one’s own walls. At the center of the story is Savanhi, a woman determined to live by the rule she created after heartbreak: do these men how they do you. Having mistaken pain for love in the past, she builds her life around self-preservation—until Noble Paulson, Jr. enters her world. What begins as a mutual agreement for one night of connection quickly unravels into something far deeper. Noble is written with a refreshing balance of strength and tenderness, a man who sees past Savanhi’s defenses and is willing to prove that love does not have to be destructive. His persistence is not overbearing but intentional, grounding the novel in a portrayal of a healthy, affirming relationship. The dynamic between Savanhi and Noble feels authentic, filled with vulnerability, passion, and emotional growth. Their bond is both magnetic and restorative, highlighting Pynn’s ability to craft romance that resonates beyond surface-level attraction. A particular standout in the narrative is Areli, whose presence brings warmth and depth to the story. Far from a secondary character, she becomes a vital thread in Savanhi and Noble’s journey, embodying innocence, hope, and the promise of new beginnings. At its core, Breaking the Rules is about more than romance—it is about reclaiming light after darkness and allowing love to rewrite the rules we once thought were unbreakable. Aubree Pynn offers a compelling reminder that vulnerability, when met with genuine care, can lead to the kind of healing that transforms lives.
