That was the rule Savanhi put into place after love and loyalty shattered or at least what she thought was love and loyalty. A rule she was hellbent on upholding until she crossed paths with Noble Paulson, Jr. Captivating and assuring, Savanhi dived into the depths of him, just for a night and a mutual agreement – no vested interest.
If Noble knows anything about rules, they’re made to be broken. His return home was ushered in by several uncertainties. However, there was one constant – he needed to be back in Savanhi’s space.
Taking every opportunity available to be in her space, he finds more than what he was looking for and everything he needed. The issue – convincing Savanhi that he is equipped to be everything she needs and then some.
Rules were made to be broken and that’s just what Savanhi and Noble did. After both of their significant others did them dirty, Savanhi and Noble implemented rules to safeguard their hearts. No more relationships and no more love. If it’s not about just sex, move TF around. But, an unexpected run in on the beach has these two rethinkin’ their own rules. You know what they say. If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. Breaking the Rules was a cute read. Savanhi was fightin’ for her life tryin’ to ignore her feelings for Noble but, my guy said “Aht! Aht! You gon’ get the love and soft life you deserve.” Lil Ms. Areli stole the entire book. Ms. Mamas was click clackin’ in her Princess heels and clockin’ it and I was here for it. There’s no way Aubree doesn’t make this a series because, too much was left unanswered. I need to know why Kym and Zay were hiding their relationship and I definitely need to know if Sincere finally grows TF up and get his woman. Inquiring minds want to know. Clock it!
This book was so good! I’m a sucker for a dancer who finds her Prince Charming and babyyy Deuce/Noble applied all the pressure to break down Savanhi’s walls! Things happened in the manner in which they were needed for them - there was healing, romance, drama, and laugh out loud moments. Now I need to know what Kym and Zay got going on.. 👀🤭
Aubree always gonna pull me out my book slump, I gave it the 5 but it’s really like a 4.75 only because I felt it took them too long to peep who the suspects were like it WAS IN OUR FACESSSS OFF TOP. I’m also a lil thrown off how Zay ain’t teach her to shoot or stab or nothing like I get everyone not a fighter but knowing your brother and that the man you was living with is into street stuff I would think you keep that thang on you. I am curious about the potential other couples to come but I’m also thrown off about how it will all work cus the family tree gonna be a bit twisted lol.
Listen! This story was everything! But Areli?!?! That baby girl stole the show. I loved pretty much everyone in the story except the ones who had to be dealt with. I need it to fast forward 6 years right fast
This book was so good! CLOCKKKKK THATTTT TEAAAA 🤏🏾🤏🏾🤏🏾 I felt all the feels reading this one! Aubree put her big toes into the story! Breaking the rules…. My oh my! Get into it! A great ending that was well deserved. 🙌🏽
"Breaking the Rules" is a short and sweet sports romance that hits the ball right out of the park. As my first Aubree Pynn novel, Los Oceania presented a completely new world to me. However, the setting feels familiar thanks to Pynn's fantastic world-building skills. While the universe is clearly well-established from previous works, new readers, like myself, can easily follow along with the lore and immerse themselves in the story without feeling lost. Savhani and Deuce take center stage as the novel's protagonists, and Pynn masterfully utilizes the concept of "six degrees of separation" to weave their stories together. Each character arrives with their own emotional baggage, ultimately finding solace and healing in one another. Both Savhani and Deuce are likeable characters who inspire genuine empathy from readers, well from me (I can't speak for you), making their journey all the more intriguing. The story maintains a fast pace from the very first page. Readers are immediately thrust into the drama, and the momentum never falters throughout the story. The baseball setting proves to be the perfect backdrop for this romance, especially considering the devastating curveball that Pynn delivers at the end. This unexpected twist showcases her skillful manipulation of both sports metaphors and reader expectations, making for a truly memorable first reading experience.
Savanhi And Noble gave me all the feels, hunny. One night could never be enough because Noble was a MAN. They had both gone through so much, but their connection was instantaneous, and the chemistry just couldn't be contained by rules.
Sassy just wanted to be loved & cared for after existing for so long in a relationship that didn’t offer that. Deuce was tasked with being the protector of his family, but still longed for a covering for himself & a family of his own. And then they crashed into each other. Despite both of them creating “rules” to protect their hearts after being betrayed in the worst ways, their pull was magnetic & unexplainable. They both found softness and a safe space in each other and I loved it experiencing it! I enjoyed their banter and the little family they created with his niece (even tho she was annoying as hell to me lol) Deuce’s words matched his actions and I loved that for Sassy. Their love was fast and intense but so sweet and soft.
I don’t know if this will be a series but I can see a book for Sincere/Lawryn and Zay/Kymber
Messy 😮💨🔥 but sooo good! Noble (pro baseball player ⚾️) and Savanhi (ballet instructor 🩰/exotic dancer 💃🏾) both got played dirty 💔 but fate still pushed them together ✨. Their love came quick, real, and destined 💕. Aubree gave us them Cali vibes 🌴 and a love story that hit different 💯.
Zay & Kym better be next lol 😂 cause that ending… smh 🤦🏾♀️
4⭐️ 🌶️🌶️Savanhi and Noble are legit couples goals. Deuce is a top-tier man! He has made it to my book boyfriend list 😍Sassy is someone who didn’t let life’s struggles tear her down and turn her rotten. Not for nothing, but Areli is the star of the book! She received a star just on her character alone. I hope this is a series because it abruptly ended with a big plot twist. Yes, I’m petty. I took a whole star off because I didn’t like the damn ending, and there was no fucking epilogue.
I’m obsessed. The way they poured into each other!!! All the rules were broken on night one. I was mad at Savanhi for letting that man take the light out of her but her Noble knight brought it back. And Areli, that lil girl was the star of the show. Clock the tea!!!
Whooooooweeee! This was quite the book. Both MC’s start off with a bang & I was honestly bracing myself for what would come of the outcome of those first few chapters. I ate this book right on up. & the last chapter … SCREAMED ! I loved this book.
In Breaking the Rules, Aubree Pynn delivers a thoughtful and emotionally charged exploration of love, resilience, and the risks that come with breaking down one’s own walls. At the center of the story is Savanhi, a woman determined to live by the rule she created after heartbreak: do these men how they do you. Having mistaken pain for love in the past, she builds her life around self-preservation—until Noble Paulson, Jr. enters her world. What begins as a mutual agreement for one night of connection quickly unravels into something far deeper. Noble is written with a refreshing balance of strength and tenderness, a man who sees past Savanhi’s defenses and is willing to prove that love does not have to be destructive. His persistence is not overbearing but intentional, grounding the novel in a portrayal of a healthy, affirming relationship. The dynamic between Savanhi and Noble feels authentic, filled with vulnerability, passion, and emotional growth. Their bond is both magnetic and restorative, highlighting Pynn’s ability to craft romance that resonates beyond surface-level attraction. A particular standout in the narrative is Areli, whose presence brings warmth and depth to the story. Far from a secondary character, she becomes a vital thread in Savanhi and Noble’s journey, embodying innocence, hope, and the promise of new beginnings. At its core, Breaking the Rules is about more than romance—it is about reclaiming light after darkness and allowing love to rewrite the rules we once thought were unbreakable. Aubree Pynn offers a compelling reminder that vulnerability, when met with genuine care, can lead to the kind of healing that transforms lives.
I don’t know how she does it every time, but these hood love stories written by AP draw me in every time. She has a way of writing a gang banger or former gang banger as a lover and protector that can be soft when he finds his one that just keeps me waiting for the next book.
I loved everything about this book from beginning to end. Seeing Savahni get her glow up moment to be loved the right way and seeing Noble finding the love that he was willing to reciprocate instead of dealing with the treacherous people they were previously connected to was beautiful to see. Noble fell fast and hard and wasn’t afraid to break his rules for Savahni, while it took him applying pressure and the universe constantly making their paths cross for her to accept that he was everything she had been wanting and missing.
The limited degrees of separation between these two made it only be inevitable that their paths would eventually cross and it happened when they least expected but needed it the most. I loved them together and I loved them with Areli. This little girl was sassy but not in the way that was too much for her age. She had me cracking up. The last few chapters of this book had me going from laughing out loud to smiling and cheesing like these were my people in real life.
The stories that can come from the side characters has me on the lookout hoping we get their stories because I need to know what happens next. We need to hear from Lawryn and Sincere and from Zayden and Kymber. Clock it (ifykyk)!
Author AP been on a roll 👌. This was a good read and I enjoyed my time. Noble and Savanhi were meant to be together some way some how they had so many connections together in correlation without even knowing so them meeting was bound to happen and prosper. The book starting off had me hooked and ready to fight people 😂 ASAP. I wanted some rounds the way people kept playing in their face. Noble and Savanhi were put through the wringer of constant attacks but Noble lived up to his name not only as a professional athlete but as a man getting assigned that name to live true to himself, be the foundation for his family as well as bring to the table what Savanhi needed that she’s never had before. Savanhi herself brought out the best in Noble and was such a support in this trying time while she try’s to achieve her goal she’s wanted forever which was to have a better life throughout dancing to call her own.
Overall I was taking my time in AP land and now I’m wondering are we going to get more from this book from the supporting characters because In my opinion there were some unfinished business left and I wanna know so bad lol. Hopefully we do but y’all go check out this book and have a nice time on the journey.
I read the trigger warning and still said "let's goooo" and GO it did cause by the end of chapter 2 almost all the things the author warned us about had already happened. It definitely heald my attention and I liked Sassy and Deuce as main characters. Having read several other books from this author and others with similar scenarios, this one however, did read a little less believable or felt questionable with disjointed details in some instances. Then the way certain things were revealed, like Mecole being the one to let Duece know about Brixx's sinister plan- how Sway, how did they know each other? And Brixx getting in the house, Remi's reason read a little flawed like she had something to do with it. What happened to Manny? Why was the dad writing letters like he was planning for death? Also Arieli's origin story cause wait what!? Did Zay know or nah? That part felt vague and unclear to me. Overall, the book held my interest, I liked the characters and the subject matter, and there was a little of everything, including plenty of laughs. But IN MY OPINION the execution of the story felt a little off in some instances and it left several unanswered questions making it a good read but not a great one.
Every time I think she's done her big one she does it again. Firstly the book's first 2 chapters started off with such a bang and I was p***** as I'll get out... But Miss ma'am definitely made up for that mess becauseI loved Nobel and Savanhi they were literally a perfect fit 😍. Everything connected so well. The hurt they both suffered bringing them together. But what really did it for me was the fact that that Noble got one Wiff of that kitty and was gone. He just knew he had to make her his. I loved the connection that he had with his niece Areli. That little girl was a mess spoiled past all get out but so cute. That little end made so much sense to why Savanhi and her meshed so well... Now you left me with so many thoughts on what's going on between Kym and Zay. Or just went on with them. I'm so curious to find out about that as well as what's gonna happen with sincere and lawryn. Cause I know sincere is going literally be sliding down the wall after losing such a good woman, I agree with noble on that.
Savanhi and Noble coming together for one night only, to knock the edge off.. both coming from heartbreak.. Noble finding out 2 days prior to his wedding, that his then fiancé was sleeping with his best friend/teammate and had an abortion.. and then Savanhi walking in her home to catch her then boyfriend Brixx in bed with her bestie from elementary.. they found comfort in each other for that night even though they both felt like more transpired between them.. but Savanhi had created these rules in her head in order to guard her heart.. however lots of elements ended up bringing them back together.. Noble sister Kym getting caught with drugs and going to prison leaving him to care for his niece Ariela.. she was too cute and funny.. clock that tea.. and Savanhi brother Zay getting caught with drugs sending him to prison.. they later find out their siblings are connected in same drug charge.. Noble went after Savanhi and once she let her guard down, he loved her properly.. it was cute ☺️
Y’all the opening of this book had not just the MMC knocking heads but the next chapter following had the FMC doing the same and I was here for it because WTF y’all playing with them people. TUH!
Savhani was “THAT GIRL” despite her circumstances and baby Noble was “that🥷🏾. From setting rules to breaking rules. This was a story about standing in your own, persevering, family, greed, but most of a village and LOVE🫶🏾.
And please note Areli is the star of the show. My girl kept everyone together and on their toes. Just know she taking bets, checking when necessary, and clocking it🤌🏾PERIOD!
BIG PYNNIE you don’t disappoint and I’m mad I didn’t read this slower. Thank you for the stories, the love that comes from your pen, the love and hope you share through your stories BUT most of all thank you for the bonds and the connections you build💐💐💐💐💐 You deserve your flowers.
It has taken me a few days to process my thoughts on this book. Being that it was an Aubree Pynn book, I was ready to be teleported to a new world. However, this book left a lot of plot holes and did not center enough on the MMC and FMC for me.
The goings-on of each main character’s siblings created plot holes on the depth of the relationship that is supposed to exist between the siblings. It took away from the love story unfolding. The side characters created a bit more of a distraction than adding to the story as comedic relief or as Easter eggs that you look forward to hatching in the future.
Our main characters story development was not enough for me. The love was NOT oozing off the pages. I’m not sure what made them the one for each other besides staying in toxic relationships too long.
My hope is that next time we focus more on the main characters and seeing them grow with side characters being just that side characters.
From the first sentence I was locked in and was ready for a messy read. And while this wasn’t that, it had some interesting moments. I understand the love Noble is receiving. Plus his friendship with Sincere was cute and good comic relief. I also loved the relationship between the ladies, Law, Remi, and Vanhi. The story overall was good, but had some areas that fell flat to me.
I’m really really hoping we get two additional stories from this one. I would love to read about Kim and Zay. As well as, Law and Sincere. Both of those stories could drop tomorrow and I would be present and ready to read.
4.5 ⭐️ Sports romance. This was a good time. Really enjoyed the pacing. Both MCs were hesitant to start new relationships after dealing with cheating exes, but they weren’t in denial for too long. Noble did not play about Savanhi. He stood on business about that one. I loved watching them build their own little family. Areli was too cute. I love when books have kids with main character energy lol. I do feel like some details were missing for me cuz I was waiting for child services to show up. Plus did I miss something happening to Manny? Either way I loved all of this. The connection, the spice, the intentional love and care was top tier. Recommended.
Breaking the Rules started off with drama and ended with us wanting MORE! Noble and Savanhi were two people who put rules in place to combat their broken hearts. There is nothing like a Crimson King who comes in to show you how to let your guard down and for a daughter of a Crimson King to show you how to be selfless. Two broken hearts and calming waters in a universe that has a funny way of ensuring they always cross paths. A second chance or rather I’d like to think of it as the realization that the first love wasn’t love, it was just the universe showing you how you should never settle, no matter what societal standards say.
