Eight gripping Welsh mysteries full of twists, danger and suspense — where even the quietest village can hide the darkest crime.
Stacey Logan thought moving back to her late mother’s cottage in Mid Wales would bring her peace. Instead, she’s thrown into a world of shootings, abductions and brutal secrets. A journalist to her core, Stacey refuses to look away — even when the truth puts her in the firing line.
At her side — though sometimes at odds — is DI Ben James, recently promoted for bravery after a violent murder case. Based in Llandovery, Ben is known for his calm command in the barking orders at constables one moment, quietly combing a victim’s pockets for the smallest clue the next. He’s not a man for speeches, but colleagues know he’ll never walk away, even when the job takes him into farmhouses where bullets fly or riverbanks where bodies wash up. Dry-witted, pragmatic, and relentless, Ben is the anchor Stacey often needs — even if she won’t admit it.
From gunfire echoing on the Epynt ranges to bodies pulled from fast-flowing rivers, Stacey and Ben must navigate hostile locals, ruthless criminals and their own complicated partnership. In a land where trust can kill and secrets refuse to stay buried, survival means pushing the limits of courage — and each other.

Well it's about time the whole series (well nearly the whole series, cause there are nine books in total, so far!) can be grabbed in one place (and at a ridiculously cheap price) all in one go! Bargain! So you can now start at the very beginning of the stories of Stacey Logan and her police boyfriend Ben. Follow them as their relationship grows and blossoms, although it's not a completely smooth ride with Stacey sticking her professional nose into police business, often at the annoyance of her true love! Great plot twists and turns; lots of murders, and lots of red herrings. Great descriptions of the beautiful Welsh countryside and wildlife thrown in for good measure to keep the stories trundling along. All the books are real page-turners, and obviously they get better and better as the author embraces her characters and takes them on new journeys and adventures. More new and interesting characters get added as you work your way through the collection. You won't be able to put the books down, and you will want to see what happens in the next one! When you get to the end of the collection you'll have to buy book 9, and then pray that Ms Clifford will one day write a book 10 (although her new series of books with DC Blunt are possibly even better -try them!)
Just picked up these. I'm more of a North Wales guy but beggars can't be choosers. I just finished the first novel and I very much enjoyed it. I will say i pegged the murdered the second time we interacted with him. Its not unusual for me to do that but I love the journey we went on getting to the reveal. Wales is a beautiful country and the story shows that. I enjoyed the inclusion, albeit small, of the Royal Welsh.. What i most appreciate is the utter lack of crass and foul language. There is another series out there, based up near where I lived, that I had put down in the first chapter. The language went far beyond curses to truly disgusting. I don't use them, or hang out with folks who do, so I sure don't want to read them. They don't do anything but detract from the story in the most common and base way.
The Mid Wales Mysteries Books 1_8 gripping Detective Mysteries full of Twists, Nicola Clifford.
These books are exciting spine chilling in places and so well written that anyone could follow the script. The characters are in each book and get into as many scrapes as they can. A reporter goes along and is a Whizz on a computer, can’t find anyone or anything even on the Dark Web. I really recommend these books but beware you won’t get much else done. You won’t want to put your book, iPad or Kindle down. Such good reading Nicola Clifford Thank You x
Intriquing set of stories based in Wales with a subject matter different than one usually finds.
I found the countryside and the flora and fauna described to be fascinating. Having never been to Wales, I'm eager for a visit. The subject matter was also unique reading.
A veritable feast of adventures begging to be made into a series. Adressing sensitive and current issues. I bought the block of 8 and it was a great investment of my reading time.
Enjoyed every one of the books in this series. Captivating stories which kept me reading well into the night. Hopefully more to come. I wait implore. Thanks for great entertainment.
I really enjoyed reading this series. My only complaint is the fact that the books ended! I am so looking forward to the next book. The characters were memorable.
