BLURB Annie and Joey are worlds apart, forced together by a shared goal: to bring someone to justice. Neither trusts the other, but they have no choice. On the run from the law and hunted by enemies, their survival depends on more than just luck. As danger closes in, their uneasy alliance sparks a connection neither expected. One that could be their greatest strength or their undoing. But as Annie battles the darkness inside her, she's forced to question how far she can go to protect what's left of her humanity. In a world where justice is elusive, they might be each other's last chance.
Adeline Franklin is a twisted soul lurking in the shadows of rural Australia, crafting emotional labyrinths that weave through darkness, desire, tension, and terror. Her stories aren’t for the faint of heart—she thrives on creating heartbreakingly beautiful chaos, where love and horror dance in equal measure. When she’s not conjuring nightmares or setting hearts ablaze, she’s indulging in her greatest obsession: pickles and chilli. Separately, together—any way she can get them. If there’s a way to add spice and tang to life, she’s already there.
How do I even begin to write a review for a book that feels like a piece of me? I’ve been front row for this entire wild ride, Adeline’s #1 hype queen, and now that it’s out in the world—Satan help us all.
Annie and Joey. Chaos breeds chaos. They’ve been pulled to each other like feral wolves for a while, and watching that slow burn finally ignite? Oh I HOWLED.
Let’s talk about the pears. “I just smear it into my skin.” SIR. WHAT 🤣 I’ve been unalived by a fruit. I will never look at pears the same. I can smell them as I type this. Joey is the most typical Italian boy to ever Italian food obsessed, chaotic, and too hot for his own good. Gravy, pears.. pizza if there’s food there’s Joey
Adeline’s writing? Chef’s kiss dipped in demon blood. It’s fast, it’s punchy, it doesn’t let you breathe. You’ll be screaming “WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK” and still flipping pages like your life depends on it.
Oh and the slow burn? It had me on my knees, begging. I was pulling my hair out like a widow in mourning. JUST SCREW HIM ALREADY
Best quote of the entire damn book: ‘ I tried to help her then I thought fuck this bitch and pushed her down a set of stairs.” Joey fucking what?!
And please… when you get to Chapter 14 Just know I blacked out. I fell in love with Joey’s… appendage. You’ll understand. TRUST ME. Without spoiling a thing, this story comes full damn circle. We’ve got Vengeance, Tears, Chaos, Extremely questionable use of kitchen equipment, Souls that were always meant to find each other, And then that ENDING?? Babes. I’m still laughing Being part of this book’s journey has been an honour, a fever dream, and a descent into delicious madness. Adeline Franklin you unhinged, magnificent MF queen. You did the damn thing
Where do I even begin with this one. This book can really kinda stand alone because it is the story of Annie and Joey, but it does follow on from the amazing first book in the duo, where we followed Ryn and Kaden to their demise.
On the run after the explosive end of book one, Annie , dragged off kicking and screaming by Joey to hide out as fugitives, finds a darker side inside herself. She hates this man. Until she doesn’t. Until all that is left between them is the tension and undeniable red hot ‘ don’t know if I want to hurt you or fuck you or both’ connection formed through trauma and survival. And then when events unfold from bad to worse she finds she’s closer to killers she despises and hides from than she thought. In more ways than one.
Captured by Nicholas and literally made a house of horrors to force her relive all her memories from hell, Annie has to face truths she may not be ready for, make decisions that could sacrifice everything, and come to the reality that there is darkness in her too, but is it the kind that relishes in pain of others, or the kind that will do what is necessary to survive?
This book is full of twists and turns, and scenes that will both light your fire, and twist your stomach. I love the duality that is the darkness and fear Adeline can give with her amazing world building and softy lines , while keeping us on the edge of our seats to know what is happening next. Add in the most delicious spice and my dears you’ve a recipie ( and there is quite literally a recipe in here like common!! I died) for an absolutely ride of a lifetime type book you cannot put down.
If you are not faint of heart and love a good trigger warning, jump into this feet first! For those needing a love story built on struggle, passion and justice, this book has it for you. If you’re still really pissed off at the twisted individuals from book one that harmed our favourite characters, oh my lovelies you will love what happens. And if you wanna know what Satan does in his downtime… well… stick in until the end. ( did I expect this? No. Did I need this? YES!! Am I still giggling, oh my god this will live rent free in my mind forever)
Satan's Demise had me sitting on the edge of my seat, holding my breath, laughing and crying throughout the story. I loved that there was this epic moment where the fourth wall is broken and the writing is exceptional. The amount of love and hate within the pages of this book - as the reader I felt every emotion of the characters within! Loved it! I learnt about a new piercing hehe that had me blushing and thinking how lucky Annie is 😜 The spicy scenes were so good as well! With a wild mixture of cooking and appliances had me rethinking my way around the kitchen 😂 Already looking forward to the next book written by the amazing author that is Adeline Franklin ❤️
“Her face is blotchy from crying, but still - still - There’s something striking about the way she holds herself together with fraying hands.” - Joey
The tension between these two whilst in hiding is insane! But he is respectful of her “hating him”. So much has already happened to Annie, and so much more happens again.
Annie is a firery live wire of a red head, I would not want to be on her bad side ever! She is extremely stubborn in her ways, continues to hate Joey and blame him for the death of her friend, hates camping and being off grid and this girlie has a praise kink 🥵
Joey has kidnapped Annie, and has deep regret for doing so, especially for upending her life, his wanted to do her from the get go, and he smells Devine, scented of woodsmoke, sweat (the clean kind not the sour gross kind) and pears, very uniquely him as he covers himself in smashed pear. And he has a leg shaking unique feature about him that has me wanting to try 🤤
Then there Tim, and Nicolas, you know what let’s leave that so we don’t spoil the book, but they a vial creatures for sure.
This wasn’t the happy ending I wanted from the start of the duet, but a happy ending to a horrible sequence of events that absolutely shattered me
First I would like to thank the lovely Adeline for sending me a copy of this. She really is an amazing author and person 😍
Before jumping into this one you need to read book 1 which is Satans Vessel. Book 2 follow Joey and Annie and life after book 1 (I don’t want to give any spoilers)
Probably the thing I enjoyed most about these characters is the banter, I feel like we really got to see snippets of the authors sense of humour throughout this, which I absolute loved, I chuckled a few times reading this, eg “grapey” bush lands and the Kumquats that looked like limes 😂
The sexual tension between the characters is hot, but be aware that you will get cockblocked during the first attempt 😅 also we have a pierced MMC “it’s called a Jacob’s Ladder, Sweetheart” (swoon)
I enjoyed the way this story ended, it made me feel happy for them both. The bonus scene gave me so much peace knowing Marcus gets a pineapple up his ass everyday before lunch.
Like always check your trigger warnings before diving in.
“As the great LadyGaga once said - I was born this way”
Proper review coming soon! Cause can’t just write I loved this book, so f**king just buy it! 🤣🤣
🚨 REAL REVIEW 🚨
Huge shout out Adeline for allowing me to read this baby!! Took little longer to completely read it ( guess that’s what happens when multiple ARCs drop days a part and you try read them all at once 😂 )
Satan’s Demise follows Annie & Joey, while they’re forced together by a shared goal they are worlds apart… or so they think. The banter these two have is amazing and just when you think it couldn’t get better… your SMACKED in the face with some sauciness that could make Satan himself blush 😈
This book has plot twist I didn’t see coming and boy did I love that! I was feeling all the emotions from love to hate to feeling a little 🥵 to board line ready to cry! Satan’s Demise will have you feeling all the feels from start to finish and then some!
Firstly thank you so much Adeline for giving me a chance to ARC read this 🥰🖤
I have been patiently waiting for this book to be released ever since I knew there was another one coming! I binged the first book and knew this was going to be another banger!
I didn’t realise how much I needed Annie & Joeys story until I read it and loved being able to read their POV throughout the chapters.
Adeline is such a talented writer that makes you feel so many emotions and so deeply but also question did I just read that?!! I can’t even look at my kitchen the same after that spicy 🌶️ scene 👀🤭
I can’t wait to see what else this lovely writes and is definitely an auto buy Aussie author for me!! 🖤
After reading book One Satan's Vessel, I had to go into book two to find out more. I need to know if it was true about Ryn & Kayden, what happened to Nicholas?? Book two didn't disappoint. There was a few twists that I was not expecting at all. The ending and epilogue was just perfect! Thoroughly enjoyed this duet and would recommend to anyone who likes darkness, gore, twists, taboo and ☠️
I don’t usually like sequels BUT this one was just as good, if not better then the first one! The story line was enough to keep me hooked the whole way through, then the end was BAM! Lots of twists and turns that were believable and not far fetched. There were links to the first book to make me keep trying to remember the story (had been a few months since I read Satans Vessell) but it was enough of its own storyline with different characters to be its own book. I will never look at a pepper grinder the same again 😂
The banter between Joey and Annie? When stuff finally happens?! Hot damn, talk about a bumpy surprise. 😏
The plot twists? Tragic for you Annie, that dude be fucked up and not in a good way. I devoured this book in one sitting. I have no life. I don't know what to do now but process, because this book took me on a wild ass ride.
Love that this is set in Australia, everything just clicks perfectly when it's in your own backyard. 😎
Thank you so much Adeline for giving me the opportunity to ARC read Satan' Demise.
Picking up from the emotional heartbreaking ending of Satan's Vessel we follow Annie and Joey as they try to get justice and revenge for their friends and themselves.
I laughed and cried my way through this book. The banter between Annie and Joey was the chefs kiss. The spice was hotter than hades and Joey's appendage....let's just say you will love it. This was truly a phenomenal book with plot twists I didn't see coming and an ending that it's absolutely freaking awesome! Trust me! You want to stay to the end. Adeline I need more and can't wait until your next book comes out!
(NOTE: This review is for the duet, not individual books)
I was blessed to be gifted Satan’s Vessel by a book friend, and I have never been so grateful for my circle. The moment I hit that ending, another friend had already swooped in with book two. Having already read the duet she understood the assignment. Because holy jaw drop, that wasn't a cliffhanger Franklin picked me up and threw me straight over that edge onto jagged rocks.
This duet was something else. Both books sit around 200 pages, so they’re quick, addictive reads. Adeline’s writing is fast paced, punchy, and completely unputdownable. She somehow mixes darkness, banter, romance, and spice like she’s whipping up the perfect sinful dessert. A little twisted, a little sweet, and just enough heat to make you sweat.
Satan’s Vessel, follows Ryn and Kaden. I can’t say much without spoiling it for first time readers, but I will say this: Ryn never really had a chance at a happy life. She was thrown from one traumatic event and horrific person to another, and it was heartbreaking to witness. Kaden, all sexy and broody, had great intentions, but they fell short in the end. Their story was rough, dark, and utterly traumatising. A wild ride that left me needing a breather but also, the next book in my hands immediately!
Now let’s talk Satan's Demise, because Joey and Annie completely owned me. That slow burn? Pure torture. I was practically clawing at the pages. But when it hit, it hit. Dom Joey had me ready to drool all over the book and I needed more! I'll be honest I was nervous for a minute thinking book two (Satan’s Demise) was going to pull another heart shattering stunt, but thankfully Adeline redeemed herself. And that full circle ending.... Absolute perfection! (If you know, you know).
There were some moments that had me laughing out loud "I tried to help her then I thought fuck this bitch and pushed her down a set of stairs.” AND “If at first you don’t succeed, it’s only attempted murder.”. There were moments that had teary eyed, and others that had me grinding my teeth and sneering like a wild animal.
This duet delivered everything: chaos, heart, laughs, spice, and that perfect balance between dark and delicious. I’m officially hooked on Adeline Franklin’s writing and I’m crossing my fingers for a Devil spinoff because I’m not ready to leave this world yet, and he seemed like a good time in the epilogue.
Blessed with good book friends who never steer me wrong when it comes to great reads.
I don't usually review because I am a lurker at heart, but I will for this girly and her fantastic dedication to her craft.
BEWARE: SPOILERRRSSS
“Satan’s Demise” is Book 2 of the Devil’s Duet, and it does not disappoint. This shorter (~200 page) indie dark romance is packed with tension, grief, revenge, and just the right amount of smut.
The author’s writing style flows like a film in reverse — fast-paced but vivid, with emotionally charged moments and an unapologetically Australian tone (think: dry humour, sass, and swearing). I loved how Annie, our fiery FMC, drives the story while Joey — our possessive, pierced, pain-tolerant MMC — balances her out with a calm dominance and twisted devotion.
Despite its length, it delivers everything: ✔ Emotional fallout from Book 1 ✔ Found-family trauma bonds ✔ Gripping action ✔ A genuinely vile villain you’ll love to hate ✔ And yes, spicy scenes that include very creative object use (🌶🌶🌶🌶/5).
Bonus: the book ends with Joey’s pizza recipe, and I’m obsessed.
Highly recommend if you’re into morally grey romance, revenge plots, and sharp indie storytelling with guts (literally and emotionally).

Firstly thank you to Adeline franklin for this opportunity to arc read Satan's Demise
This book had me on the edge of my seat, laughing and crying throughout the story. This book was absolutely amazing from start to finish and following Joey and Annie throughout this whole book. Damn girl, you just had to throw in a twist that I didn't see coming.
The love and hate throughout the book were so good. I loved the characters and loved seeing how this duet ended. I definitely felt the emotions of these characters and loved every minute of it.
I can't wait to see what you write next, Adeline as damn I need more of your wonderful books.

Please make sure to read the trigger warnings before you continue reading this book.
What an emotional roller coaster this book was! A continuation from the epic ending of the first book, Satans Demise follows the story of Annie and Joey and these two are like a married couple that aren’t even together, the tortuous slow burn for these two to get it on was well worth it! You fall so quickly for Joey and his wit, it’s a little sweet 🤭😍
The storyline in this book is amazing, so many twist and turn of events has you hooked from the first chapter. The character growth from Annie I adored and she really showed how strong she can be, what she goes through would make anyone insane!
Check your trigger warnings, or if you don’t like spoilers jump straight into this one 😍 I can’t wait to see what book three has in store 🥰
Adeline Franklin's 'Satan's Demise' is a masterful rollercoaster of emotions, seamlessly blending heart-wrenching moments with unexpected humor. The core of the novel lies in the brilliantly crafted hate-to-love relationship between the protagonists, a dynamic so visceral and compelling that it anchors the entire narrative. This is a must-read for anyone who appreciates complex character dynamics and powerful storytelling.
Adeline did it again! This book is extremely dark and twisted and yet somehow we still found closure. I love Annie and joey and their crazy just works together. Please read the trigger warnings this it is not an intro to dark reading you will be thrown all the way in.
