This book is a true story about a sadistic stalker and it grabbed me from the very beginning. It was so hard to put down. It took me into late hours into the night reading even with having to work the next day.

Kathryn met Todd through a mutual friend. Kathryn already at a low point in her life as she is going through her second divorce, Todd finds ways to place himself around her and weave himself into her life. Kathryn works remotely from home and Todd works as an IT rep and serves the police department.

Todd becomes obsessive and when Kathryn tries to set boundaries, he gaslights her and makes her feel like the one who is at fault. He abuses his skills in IT and links her electronic devices with his so he knows how to track her. This goes on for months and the more she tries to break away from him, the more Todd becomes obsessed, possessive and lashes out. She seeks help through the justice system only to get let down time and time again. Feeling alone, isolated and a prisoner in her own home Kathryn is at the verge of losing it. Desperate to find a way to make him accountable for his actions and to break away from him.

The author’s writing is gripping and in such a way I felt all of the emotions of Kathryn. It was unnerving and I even felt as if being watched. I was terrified for her and at the edge of my seat. This is a story that I will never be able to shake and will continue to recommend.

This book is raw, honest, tragic and heartbreaking. Having experienced an ex who stalked me for awhile as a teenager, this made me remember my time as a vicrim of stalking. BUT what Kathryn has experienced is so much more! Having met Todd, he became a total, obsessive, uncontrollable maniac. He knows how to play the system, what he can get away with and pushing the law to brink without actually breaking it! This goes on for months and months. His IT skills enable him to control and abuse his power, unknowingly to his many customers. How many people has he spied on?

Todd has seemingly stalked before , but his previous victims never having the courage to get him convicted. But Kathryn athough petrified she stands up to him. Todd destroys her reputation with the locals in her town, they don't deserve any redemption, but I hope they feel enormous guilt for believing Todd and his lies. I also think she is on the right track in her suspicions about the local murdered woman.
One day Todd will slip up and I'm sure his actions will escalate again. I just feel for the next victim he sets his eyes on again. The local people who know him, must surely realise what he is after his convictions. A nasty human being.

Kathryn has shown tremendous bravely in her actions against Todd, but I think it's shocking that the justice system is so patronising, unfair for victims in stalking episodes. It literally destroys peoples lives and the Stalker seemingly carries on getting away with violating and taunting their victims. It's vile and sadistic!
I hope Kathryn gets to rebuild her life on her terms. I know she will always be looking over her shoulder but small sets to gain her freedom and confidence will maybe let more people into her new life. It saddens me that she has to live this way.
The writing was so gripping, easily flowing on the pages. Very much like a Thriller, edge of my seat, but also terrifying, In the knowledge that it was all true. Left gasping at times, feeling every emotion that Kathryn felt. I was there every step of the way, remebering myself how helpless you can feel in these situations. Nobody should have to live like that. Todd destroyed many lives in his sadistic behaviour.

I can't recommend this book enough! Thankyou to Kathryn and Meredith for giving me a free ARC copy to read and review. I look forward to reading more books by Kathryn as she has a natural talent.

This book is a difficult one to rate. The story is very interesting at first and I was engaged with the story. I don’t want to feel like I am victim blaming but I truly did not understand the FMC actions in the beginning of the book. This is supposedly a true story but it read like a thriller where characters make bizarre choices to advance the plot.

What she endured was truly awful but I honestly didn’t understand why people reacted the way they did. Why so many people were angry with her just didn’t make sense.

The book is too long and repetitive in parts. I think tighter editing would have helped the book pack more of an emotional punch than it did. Some of the dialogue was not necessary and was distracting.

With all that said there is a sad, interesting story here. The author endured horrible things and continues to live with this person’s presence hanging over her - a situation that has to be horrible. People who are fans of true crime will find things they like about this book.

Received this ARC for free.

This book grabbed my attention from the start and I can’t stop thinking about it. Caraway spins a chilling tale of modern terror, where the digital realm becomes a prison. Kathryn’s brief romance with Todd, an IT expert at the police department, morphs into a nightmare as he uses his skills to stalk and control her every move. The narrative explores the terrifying reality of technology-enabled stalking, where privacy is an illusion and safety a distant dream.

Dismissed by the very authorities meant to protect her, Kathryn embarks on a desperate quest to expose Todd, uncovering dark secrets that link him to past crimes. Caraway masterfully builds suspense, weaving a plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat, questioning the boundaries of trust and security in an age dominated by technology.

“Unfollow Me” is more than just a thriller; it’s a stark commentary on the vulnerabilities of our interconnected world and the insidious ways technology can be weaponized. It’s a must-read for those who enjoy suspenseful, thought-provoking stories that linger long after the final page.

I'm speechless. I'm completely blown away by this story. I can't imagine how she dealt with this for as long as she did. At first I wondered why she put up with it. why didn't she do anything about it? But one thing many don't understand, is stalkers are smart, they know how to gaslight a person, twist things to make them think it was their fault. I know this because my dad did it to my mom for years. She's was deathly afraid him, and the police did little to nothing.
So I applaud Kathryn for finding the courage to write this. to bring light to how terrifying this is for people. how the justice system is flawed.
This book was emotional. i was mad at her, but i also felt her fear. This was gripping, and I'm glad that I was able to read this.
I was given this book to read as an ARC. and I'm leaving a voluntary review.

This was quite the book. It's an emotional rollercoaster ride that I found myself needing breaks to compose myself and gather my feelings. The pacing was good. The story grabbed me and held me. There were moments where I was mad at Kathryn (mc) because she was so kind when I felt she should of raised hell. There were moments in the story where it felt dragged out and parts unnecessary. Overall though I appreciate the writer sharing her story and life experience. This truly is an eye opening book.

Thank you Kathryn Caraway for sharing your story and After Dark Ink for the ARC. I received this book for free but all opinions are my own.

Based on the authors own true life experiences. After meeting through a mutual friend, Kathryn agrees to go out with Todd after his repeated advances. There is a brief relationship but soon Kathryn realizes how obsessed Todd is. His true colors come out and they are truly terrifying!

To make matters worse, Todd is an IT consultant for a local police department. During their brief relationship, Todd had installed surveillance cameras at her home and accessed Kathryn’s home internet system. He now uses those against her to watch and track her every move. Todd torments Kathryn spanning years as she attempts to build a criminal case against him that will be upheld in court.

I absolutely commend Caraway for sharing her story. Stalking cases are very difficult to prove let alone convict on. She showed bravery and tremendous courage standing up to her stalker and being her own advocate throughout the process.

It is easy for others to judge when they are not in your shoes but the resilience to go through these experiences, share your story and come out the other side is a true testament to how strong Caraway is. Thank you for sharing- if anyone is helped by reading your words, the world becomes slightly better and more educated when it comes to stalking.

Thank you to the author, Kathryn Caraway, Publisher After Dark Ink for the opportunity to read this book. I received a gifted copy and am leaving my review voluntarily.

This story was raw, brutally honest and so courageous for the author to put this chapter of her life out there for the world to see. You will find yourself wanting to judge her as she unravels her "relationship" with Todd - DON'T! You know the saying about until you walk a mile in another person's shoes...I found this book frustrating, hopeful and exhaustive but Kathryn never gave up even when the cards were stacked against her (and there were decks of them). This is an important book for all women to read as well as the legal system to take these issues much more seriously. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I could not put this true crime thriller down. Kathryn was tormented by this stalker and her experience highlights the weaknesses in the judicial system for cases like hers. This is a well written page turner that I highly recommend.

In this devastating and chilling true story, the author shares her frightening experience of survival and her fight against a stalker. She shares the many injustices she faced as a victim of staking and the lengthy legal battle she fought so hard against.

All the details of Todd’s stalking was frightening to read about. It was even more frightening to know the author and a lot of other people experience this. I felt so much frustration at the lack of help she had received and how far the stalking situation had to escalate in order for law enforcement to take her seriously. It’s disappointing to know that so many victims cases are brushed off or never get the legal help they need until it’s too late.

The author is so brave and resilient. I admire the strength she had to fight against this. Thank you to the author for sharing your story.

Special thanks to After Dark Ink Publishing and Kathryn Caraway for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The world would be a better place if you weren’t in it.
You are mine. And I don’t share.
If I wanted to hurt you, I would do it right now.

These are only a small sampling of the troubling things said to Kathryn by her stalker, Todd Bennett. Unfollow Me is a tale of true-life horror experienced by Kathryn Caraway as a victim of stalking. This book grabbed me from the first page and didn’t let go until the last word. The narrative explores the relationship between the author and her stalker, starting at the first meeting and follows Kathryn to the end when she reinvents her life and still lives with the thought of her stalker finding her again.

The story unfolds with Kathryn meeting Todd, an IT specialist at the police department, and their unlikely friendship and romantic relationship blooming. From the first few encounters with Todd, he seemed sweet, but also very odd; possessive and almost bipolar like behavior, flipping from terms of endearment to threats of how life would be better without Kathryn in it. The biggest, most shocking part of this book is the experience Kathryn had with the justice system. Armed with her thick binders of evidence, she seemed to repeatedly get brushed off by law enforcement, saying what Todd was doing wasn’t illegal. Kathryn literally lived in fear every day. The stories she tells of Todd driving around her house, following her at the grocery store, following her into restaurants, defaming her character to employers and the entire town she lives in, and even kidnapping her dog are truly disturbing. (Don’t worry, Winston makes to back home to his doggy mom unharmed.) The outline of the charges brought against Todd and ultimately the convictions seem so unfair for what Kathryn went through. The book left me deeply concerned about all victims of stalking and the justice they receive for their victimization.

I must commend Kathryn for telling her story and helping other victims find their voices. This book is a must read for all true crime enthusiasts as well as those who love a good memoir and even thrillers. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end and am deeply thankful to hear this story and allow it to help promote awareness to such an overlooked crime and under prosecuted crime. This could truly happen to anyone.

“How bad can a stalker story be?” Evidently, traumatising. And that’s putting it lightly.

‘Unfollow Me’ is a devastating and harrowing account of one woman’s fight for survival; not just against her stalker, but also against the systemic injustices she faced as a victim.

By just 35% in, I myself was already mentally exhausted by Todd; his manipulation, persistence, and sheer delusion. Sure, it’s easy to spot the red flags in hindsight (especially the part where she finds out he’s a freelance IT contractor for the police department BRUHHH). But as a woman in her 40s with two failed marriages and a heavy emotional load, Kathryn was already vulnerable, and Todd knew exactly how to exploit that.

And if you think he was unbearable in the beginning, it only got worse after she took legal action. The way the American judicial system failed her, again and again, was so infuriating to read. The lack of accountability from the police departments, and their indifference, the loopholes Todd went through just to keep intimidating Kathryn amidst their legal battle…it’s appalling how stalking victims are treated, let alone women in general.

So I don’t blame Kathryn one bit for choosing to live off-grid now. What’s tragic is that she HAD to, while Todd remains free today to obsess over his next potential target. I truly can only wish her so much peace and healing from here on out.

‘Unfollow Me’ is not an easy read, but it’s a necessary one. And that’s the only reason I’m giving it a 5 stars, even though I don’t typically rate memoirs. It’s a cautionary tale that unfortunately every woman should know just because sometimes, “block him” isn’t enough.

Thank you NetGalley and After Dark Ink Publishing Co. for the e-ARC.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. A big thank you to the author for sending me a copy and asking for my honest feedback on the book.

This book hooked me from the start and I couldn’t put it down. So much so I was straining to keep my eyes open at night to finish it.
What would’ve been a harrowing experience, has been turned into an intriguing, eye opening and rightfully terrifying recount of the authors real life experience of being stalked.

The book follows Kathryn’s experience of being stalked by a man named Todd who was brief romantic partner. Todd is the typical stalker type — quick to act, sneaky and deceptive and downright cruel. The way he manipulated the people around them was absolutely mind blowing and scary.

Kathryn’s bravery for sharing her story is tremendous and serves as a stark reminder, that you really don’t know the people you may let into your lives.

Kathryn has recently split from her husband, & on a night out with a friend, meets Todd who is an IT expert including carrying out work for the local police department. Their relationship never really gets off the ground, but when Kathryn wants to call it off, the charming, helpful, affable Todd shows the other side to his personality, & due to his IT expertise he has access to her phone, her security cameras, & even her car. Everywhere she goes, Todd soon turns up, & when she has finally had enough & files for a restraining order, things become really dark & Kathryn learns that she is not the first woman he has done this to.

I found this a compelling read but one that made me extremely anxious whilst reading it - it was almost like an intense episode of 'Criminal Minds'. I know this is based on a true story, & it is frightening to think that there seems to be very little protection for victims of stalking. What there is, is woefully inadequate, & basically ties the victim up in judicial knots & favours the perp. It was in equal parts infuriating & exasperating how Todd was able to use the law to harass his victims. I can only commend anyone who is resilient & strong enough to take cases like this to court & fight on in the face of such obstacles, it must be harrowing.

My thanks to NetGalley & publishers, After Dark Ink Publishing Co (IBPA), for the opportunity to read an ARC.

This book is based on authors true experiences. After meeting Todd from a mutual friend, things seem good at first. Until little subtle changes started. He started working at her house and making excuses of setting up her internet and other electronics around the house. Little did she know he would use it to stalk her. Watch her every move. Appear every where she was.

As someone who was stalked as a teenager by an older man, this hit home. I truly understand her pov in this situation. There were times where I didn’t know why she would still interact with him after all the things he would say and do to her.

With that being said, I appreciate her speaking up and helping others by bringing her story out.

Thank you, After Dark Ink Publishing for sending me this free ARC for my honest review.

I couldn’t believe the lengths Todd went through to attack Kathryn in any way he could. This story is a sobering reminder that this could happen to anyone. Now I don't usually read much non-fiction, but I do love true crime.

This goes from unsettling to terrifying so fast. In hindsight you can spot the red flags but this shows how manipulative stalkers can be. And how the system is not designed to protect those who need it.

I will definitely be picking up more non-fiction books like this.

ARC Review

What an emotional roller-coaster. This book is heavy! and I don’t just mean the weight.

It’s a slow-burn descent into psychological manipulation, isolation, and fear… made even more chilling because it’s TRUE. This is non-Fiction but reads like a perfect thriller making the reality behind it terrifying.

As readers, we spot the red flags right at the beginning. But the Authors experiences remind us how easy it is to look past these flags with a, “That was weird,” and keep moving forward.

Todd, the man she keeps “running into”, is extremely persistent on getting a date with her. He uses the loneliness of Valentine’s Day to eventually guilt her into a date, He then slowly weaves himself into her life by assisting with house repairs, requesting to share her garage office and pay for the space. It gets worse, He installs cameras and apps under the idea that it will keep her safe. All while now allowing him to watch her.

We follow Kathryn through a justice system that fails her over and over. She’s terrified, and still it’s “he said, she said.” I wanted to reach through the pages and shake the detectives. Todd exploits every crack in the system while Kathryn’s world crumbles, friends not wanting to get involved, career fading, depression setting in.

Its so disheartening to see something like this happen and justice does not get served. I think this happens more then we know. Thank you Kathryn for putting your heart on the line to write this book.

UnFollow Me is eye opening and raw. Showing the inside of the justice system and the true emotional journey of stalking survivors.

“I was resigned to the notion that id rather Todd hurt me, so they’ll have to do something about it.” – Kathryn Caraway

Terrifying, one woman's account of what happens if the wrong man enters your life. After reading this most women will probably think twice about dating. The authors whole life unravels after meeting a man who she dated. The consequences and the lack of support around stalking are all laid bare. Men not only have the right to intimidate women but to make them live in fear it would seem. A truly powerful story.

Haunting, harrowing and compelling read.

From the very first page this book grabs the attention of the reader and doesn't let go. So compelling to read you could easily mistake this for a psychological thriller not a true story but a true story it is. Such an addictive read I would have finished it in one sitting if my kindle hadn't ran out of charge.

Unfollow Me is more than a True Crime book, it is a commentary on the vulnerable isolating situations people can quickly find themselves in and how society too often can turn their backs and be manipulated by the accused, how technology in this modern world can just as quickly be used against us and confronts head on the lasting psychological impact. It shows the judicial system that is too often set up to make the victims feel like criminals while jumping through hoops just trying to get the justice that they deserve.

Kathryn's story is written in such a way that the reader can feel the emotion on every page. Thank you Kathryn for writing and sharing your story - it is so easy for people to judge a situation without walking in someone else's shoes but the bravery and resilience to put pen to paper and write this book should be commended.

This book is a must read for all true crime fans and beyond. It stands as a harrowing reminder of the hidden dangers of stalking, its lasting impact that is too often overlooked and which too many people face alone.

5 stars feel not enough for this book and it will stay with me for a long time to come.

My rating is 4.25 but I rounded up to a 5.
This book is the author’s real life story of dealing with a stalker. To put it simply, it scared me. In the beginning the author writes that what you are about to read can happen to you. At first I eye rolled at this a little bit. But then getting into “Kathryn’s” head… yes I could definitely see me putting myself in the same position. Even though redflags might be so obvious to an onlooker, the stalker used his charm, and her empathy and trust against her. He dug into her life slowly but so deeply and aggressively, while giving off nice guy persona
Kathryn did such a great job expressing her helplessness. The system makes it so difficult to help someone being stalked until it’s too late because it usually doesn’t start with physical danger. I almost think the non violent things he did to ruin her life were worse. Parts made my stomach drop and I wanted to read faster because I needed to see how she solved this situation, because I was struggling to think of solutions myself.

I think this book is an important one for people to read, especially if you think of yourself as empathetic or a people pleaser.

The reason my rating is high for this book is because it made me truly think. I’ve never put myself in someone’s shoes as much as I did with this book. The amount of times I asked myself what I would do in that situation and came up blank… the true anxiety that it gave me… it’s a powerful book if it can do that.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review of this book. These thoughts are my own.

Have you ever read a book that gave you chills down to your bones? One that terrified you so much that you wanted to hide under the covers? Had you on the edge of your seat where you didn’t want to turn the page, but did at the same time? That is EXACTLY how I felt reading this book! I am a true crime junkie and was so excited to dig into this true crime stalker story. The more I read, the more I found myself gasping out loud, I couldn’t believe that this was true. Kathryn met Todd, someone who came off as someone who was kind and sweet. He worked IT for the police, so he should have been a “good guy”, right? WRONG! He was obsessed, crazy, deranged, and turned into a sadistic stalker. He would flip from a sweet guy and as soon as Kathryn would say or turn down his advances he flipped into someone harsh and horrible. Using his IT trades putting in cameras where he could monitor her every move. I found myself feeling every emotion of Kathryn along the way. Scared for her, defeated, and angry when the justice system let her down. This book is raw, honest, horrifying, tragic, and so heartbreaking. I found myself in tears reading this story because I could just feel the fear coming off the paper. I think I am still in shock with how broken the system was in this situation and how many times it is every single day.

Wow! I was emotional the entire time reading this book. Especially knowing it's a true story. It is horrible how the laws work and stalkers get to win. They know exactly how to manipulate the system and make it look like their victim is crazy! I feel so bad for Kathryn. On the other hand, this is a powerful book and I'm glad she wrote it. It gets the information out that people don't realize.

The tension I went through reading this book from start to finish is unbearable 😮‍💨🤯

She's being watched, manipulated, and pushed to the edge. The world around her keeps failing, and the fear inside keeps growing, but somehow, she finds a way to keep going, to survive the madness and find her own strength ❤️‍🔥

Can't wrap my head around how someone actually enjoys tearing another person's life apart. Makes you wonder what kind of messed-up high they get from your panic, the way your heart races, your thoughts scatter, and every fear they planted blooms in your head 😵‍💫

A 5☆ read. This one will mess with your head 😮‍💨

Wow!!! I was so moved by this author’s true life experience with a stalker. I felt every emotion that she went through just by her words. She had such a terrifying experience with a deranged and unhinged man that she tried to extract herself from time after time. I literally CRIED as I read parts of this book. As a mother, I FELT her fear for her children. She wanted to protect them and I also felt her pain, heartbreak, humiliation and self distrust of wanting to make the right decisions for herself and her loved ones. This woman is STRONG!!!! She is so brave to put her experience out there to make others aware of the dangers that are out there. Anyone female or male needs to read this book and understand how our justice system lets people down time and time again. No one should ever die at the hands of a stalker. The laws should protect us. This book needs to be read by every police officer, attorney and judge that has to deal with this horrible kind of crime because it could one day be their own loved ones in this situation. Thank you Kathryn Caraway for showing how brave you are by letting us in to your experience. I absolutely LOVED this book!!!!

I received this copy for free, but all opinions are my own. If I could give this book 10 stars, I would. Unfollow Me is not just a book, it is a chilling, real-life account of one of the greatest horrors we face in society: stalking. We rarely hear about most cases, yet Kathryn Caraway pulls back the curtain and forces us to see a truth that is as terrifying as it is overlooked.

The vivid detail in her storytelling brings a chill to your skin and leaves you uneasy, as it should. It starkly demonstrates how easily a stalker can slip through the cracks, evade accountability, and essentially go unpunished. Even more devastating is how victims, already living in fear, are often treated as if they are the criminals. Caraway’s words shine a painfully bright light on just how broken our judicial system is when it comes to protecting those most in need.

And then there is the ending. This is not a book that leaves you craving a sequel; rather, when you turn the final page, you are left feeling awestruck, heavy with the weight of its truth. What lingers is not just admiration for the bravery it took to write it, but a deep hope that someday Kathryn will be able to live her life free from fear, without the need to constantly look over her shoulder.

This is a story that will stay with me forever. Unfollow Me is more than a memoir; it is a testimony, a warning, and an unshakable reminder of the hidden dangers too many face in silence.

This story is raw, emotional and truly heartbreaking. A woman fighting for her life against a broken judicial system. A sadistic stalker who knows how to play the system to do what he wants, how he wants and when he wants. It captivated me from the first page and I couldn’t put it down. Everyone, regardless of gender, needs to read this. It truly could happen to anyone and this is a small glimpse into the world of how easy people manipulate to get their way.
