Tessa Hastjarjanto is a Dutch/Indonesian writer from the Netherlands. She writes speculative fiction, and blogs at narratess.com about books, fountain pens, and writing.

From a young age, she imitated popular stories and games in creating her own worlds. This love eventually led to a masters degree in media and game studies at the University of Utrecht. However a mundane desk job was enough to inspire her to follower her creative passion. The first fanfics were written in lunch breaks and soon original fiction followed.

With the support of her husband, she now focuses on her writing career while battling chronic pain. Swiss white shepherd, Shiro, acts as a therapy dog to keep her healthy and reduce stress through extensive cuddle sessions.

I'm asking you once again, to please read Hastjarjanto

She's not afraid to be whimsical. She's not afraid to twist cliches into something her own.
And she's not afraid to live a bittersweet note at the end of it all

Please if you have never read her, just give her vol 1 a chance, it's magical, sad, and will make you remember what it was like to read under the covers at night.

(Important note: I feel like her work is better enhanced if you read it at night since this is literally named after the moon)

Prose:
Does the job, though that's not her strength

Plot:
Every short story is different, some tie into the previous vol, but if you're like me and haven't read it in years, you might have forgotten a lot. Either way it doesn't matter, it's still can be read as standalone stories, but better if you DO remember.
TLDR: Just fucking read

Pace:
Most stories are short but there are some chonker of a stories that last over an hour or thirty minutes, but most can be knocked out in like 10 or so

Characters:
Since each story is different, your mileage might vary. That said, Hastjarjanto's str isn't in characters, it's worldbuilding

Vibe:
Whimsical, moonlit place that has a darker edge than most magical stories

Worldbuilding:
Possibly her best strength, she's not afraid to return to cliches done by the fantasy genre and make it her own.
In this way, Hastjarjanto can't be sneezed at

No. She's been writing for longer than that.
It's still sad I have to proclaim such (nothing to do with author's fault)

Either way, prepare to be enchanted, get this physical if you can, it might enhance the exp
