The Hucow Hotel: Where lactation kink dreams come true

Rate this book
A luxury secret hotel where the guests pay to have their milky way with the staff.
The female staff begin in Building One and work their way up to Building Four. But what happens in Building Four and why doesn't anyone talk about it?

Lacy is on her last dollar and needs to make some quick money. Whispers of the Hucow Hotel send her in search of the loosely kept secret and a job that could earn her more money then she can dream of. Lacy knows what a Hucow is yet that doesn't deter her. Having nowhere to live seems more frightening then living the fantasies of those who desire a hucow so she boards an unmarked bus to a location that is apparently not on the maps deep in the belly of deep Australia.

What comes next is an angelic faced male handler, new friends and many new experiences. Follow Lacy on her journey through each building uncovering each ones secrets until she finds herself in the notoriously extreme Building Four. Can she handle what is to be expected of her?

Ruby Skye is an erotic romance author who writes addictive kink positive stories bringing to life fantasies and taboo desires.

Hi I’m Ruby, I'm an indie author who loves to write about relatable, hard working submissive women who are sexually open minded. My motto is less angst and more smut. I like my men strong, hot and confident in what they want and I love writing about what they'll do to my female main characters.

A few personal details about me. I have a wonderful husband, two children and a dog. I live in Melbourne Australia although I was born and raised in London, UK. I work for myself during the day and write during my spare time. And that’s around home life, kids’ sports, dog walks, the movies and dancing with my friends after a few glasses of Prosecco.

If you board this bus it’s going to be an adventure, young lady.

“If you board this bus, it’s going to be an adventure, young lady,” says the bus driver and he isn’t wrong.

The Hucow Hotel is a wild ride, so strap in.

Lacy is from London and flies to Australia to continue a holiday romance, only to discover her lover has already moved on. With no money to get home, she hears whispers of a hotel where she could “work.” One bus ride later, her real adventure begins.

At reception, she meets Joey, all labourer, puppy-dog energy with a dark, deprived vibe underneath. From the moment they meet, you’re rooting for them, and their connection blossoms in the most unexpected, twisted, and strangely beautiful way.

The book is split into four parts; Buildings One through Four, each one thickening the plot and ramping up the spice. By Building Four, it reaches a full crescendo, and wow… it’s hella good. I read it in one sitting 🥵🔥🔥

I’m already a fan of Ruby’s writing, but The Hucow Hotel is next level 🤌

If you’re new to spicy books, proceed with caution. If, like me, you read all kinds, this hits a spot I didn’t even know needed hitting.

I loved this book and will absolutely be buying a physical copy as a trophy when it’s released.

Thank you for writing it Ruby, I’m so glad a was cheeky enough to ask for an ARC 😊

If you are looking for a story that pushes boundaries while maintaining an incredible emotional core The Hucow Hotel by Ruby Sky is an absolute must read. Ruby Sky has managed to take a niche interest and turn it into something relatable with real life lessons sprinkled throughout. This is my first read in a kink genre and I was pleasantly surprised that there was actual character building and story telling.

I’m going to jump straight into this review. If you’re just looking for a spicy good time, this one definitely delivers. The story revolves heavily around a lactation kink, so if that’s something you enjoy, you’ll likely love this. I really enjoyed watching Lacy and Joey together both stepping into this new role, exploring side by side, and falling for one another. Being in such close quarters, constantly intimate and exposed, added to the intensity.

I also liked the spicy levelling system and how Lacy made a few friends she could talk to during her limited free time at the hotel. That aspect added a nice layer of connection outside of the spice.

That said, because the focus was so centred on the lactation kink, while it was undeniably hot, I often felt like I knew what was coming just placed in slightly different scenarios. I also struggled a bit with Lacy’s internal journey. She often felt confused, unsure, and lacking confidence about what had just happened, which sometimes mirrored how I felt.

Meeting Joey was great, but beyond knowing he’s a pharmacist, I felt like we didn’t get many personal details about either of them. It leaned more toward insta love which I’m not a huge fan of. I didn’t love that the handler only seemed to know what was happening right before Lacy’s bookings going in blind felt a bit nerve-racking rather than exciting. Lastly only one of her bookings Gabriel stuck out to me and I loved. Everyone else didn’t really leave an impression to want to see them again.

Overall, a very spicy read just to pass the time but a few elements held it back for me.

Holy cow… literally. 🐄
Ruby, I opened this book and immediately knew I needed to recheck the trigger warnings because WOW. The kink is not hidden. It’s doing cartwheels in the title. And yet… here I am.
A luxury secret hotel hidden deep in Australia where guests pay for experiences with the staff—each building more intense than the last. Everyone whispers about Building Four, but no one explains it. And honestly? That mystery alone had me locked in.
Lacy is broke, desperate, and out of options. When she hears rumors about the Hucow Hotel, she doesn’t run—she gets on an unmarked bus to a place that doesn’t exist on any map. What follows is a surreal mix of found family, angel-faced handlers, unforgettable friendships, and experiences that push her (and the reader) way outside the comfort zone.
Is this book wild? Absolutely.
Is it for everyone? Nope.
Did I devour it anyway? Without hesitation.
Ruby’s writing is, once again, flawless—confident, immersive, and unapologetic. Even when the content made me pause and laugh nervously at myself, the storytelling never faltered. If you’ve enjoyed the Clarendon Playmates Kink Series and don’t shy away from lactation kink, this one’s calling your name.
Thank you for the ARC—these are my honest thoughts, and I loved every second of it…
Even if I’m now questioning my own reading habits 😭

What sorcery does Ruby Skye put in her books?

I had no idea what I was getting into when this ARC showed up in my inbox on the eve of Christmas. Wow was I in for a ride. Lacy a heartbroken tourist find her way onto a bus where is it going? Not even she knows for sure. The kinks in this book were like nothing I’ve read yet and I can’t say they’re my kind of kinks but I absolutely loved this book! I felt the anticipation, nerves and excitement along side the characters in this book. Ruby has the ability to write the most interesting and captivating characters both weird and endearing.

The last chapter had me questioning my own feelings it was definitely a smut filled way to cap off a delectably dirty story.

Love it! I questioned myself 100% but I can’t deny if Ruby Skye writes a book I am definitely reading it!

An addictive read: Lacey, who’s moved across the globe to be heartbroken after her holiday romance is not what it seemed, boards a bus to a hotel where upon she’s paired with Joey, her new handler & their shared adventure begins.

It’s definitely out there!! But I loved it!! The whole premise of throwing caution to the wind when you’ve nothing to loose is incredibly relatable. Then the character development & intrigue gradually increase with the MC’s experiences throughout the book. I’ve read enough of Ruby’s books now to know I can rely on her to deliver a well paced, smutty read with a compelling plot! Highly recommend!

Okay. Before you read this review. As is VERY clear from the cover. This book is about lactation k*nk on a professional level. Proceed should you find yourself… slightly interested? Not terrified? Up to you, dear human.

The Hucow Hotel follows Lacy who finds herself desperate for cash after a vacation hookup gone bad. She ends up at The Hucow Hotel, a full service hotel for those who like their women making milk.

She came for the cash and stayed for Joey, her “handler” who is the most swoon worthy blonde man I’ve ever known. The way he dotes on Lacy and is so SECURE with himself is just *chef’s kiss*. Lacy and Joey’s story is crazy romantic and refreshing. As is the monologue from Lacy about sexuality.

Let me tell you a bit about Ruby’s writing: she has a way of writing the most accepting and loving women on the planet, and she has a way of building heat to explosive levels. She also has a way with shock factor, and a karmic lesson. This one hit me and is not for the faint of heart, but Lacy’s father’s words came back to me…

“If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.”

You’ve been warned… or deeply intrigued…

WTF!?

I was really excited to read this book. The blurb intrigued me, but soon enough I realized this was not for me. I wanted to give it a chance, though, so I kept reading to see if it would get better, but truth be told, I felt like DNFing it so many times along the way. I did finish it in the end so here are my thoughts:

The premise sounded promising and intriguing but unfortunately, the execution just didn’t work for me.

The instalust/love thing was so unbelievable. Joey, in particular, didn’t feel like a real person, perfect, but not real, he seemed to say what the reader wanted to hear but felt so artificial. Most of his responses came across as robotic, which made it so hard to connect. It was like ChatGPT was talking to you trying to be encouraging.

Our heroine was not much better, and she was a mess, no matter how hard I tried to like her, I couldn't.

The lactation thing was okayish but so many machines, and suction cups, the nose and ear piercings, the hooves, the brow and head shaving, and just... I don't know, it felt totally cringey.

The ending was the biggest letdown!!! I was originally leaning toward a 2-star rating, but that ending knocked it down to 1 star, if any, I hated it that much. The ceremony at the end left a really sour taste in my mouth and felt, honestly, HORRIBLE. It’s the worst ending I’ve personally read in a romance/erotica book, and it completely undercut whatever minimum momentum the story had built.

The sex scenes also felt weird, rushed, and some parts were… really hard to digest. Didn't connect with any of the guests either. It wasn't hot at all, they weren't hot at all. While I do enjoy lactation as a kink, the whole overly, too realistic “human cow” aspect was cringey to say the least and pulled me right out of the story.

Such a disappointment, I really wanted to like this story but it just didn’t land the way I think it was intended.

Because this was a huge letdown, I can’t recommend it. Definitely check the trigger warnings and tropes before picking this up. Overall, the idea behind the book had potential, but the execution wasn’t there for me.

It may work for others, but it just wasn’t for me.

Sorry, but this one’s a pass.

The Hucow Hotel by Ruby Skye is exactly what it promises: a well-paced, unapologetically smutty good time with just enough mystery to keep the pages turning.

Set inside a secret, ultra-luxury hotel hidden deep in Australia that caters to its clients kinks and desires. The story unfolds through a fascinating tiered system—Buildings One through Four—each more intense than the last. The slow reveal of what truly happens in the infamous Building Four is handled with smart restraint, creating tension and curiosity without giving everything away too soon.

Lacy is a compelling, relatable FMC. Desperate, broke, and out of options, she makes a choice that feels risky but understandable. Her journey from survival mode to fully confronting the hotel’s deepest secrets is engaging, and her growing confidence keeps the story grounded even as the premise leans wildly erotic. The supporting cast especially Joey, her cinnamon roll of handler adds intrigue and emotional texture that elevates the book beyond pure shock value.

The spice level is high and consistent, but the pacing never drags. Each new building introduces fresh dynamics and escalating stakes, making the structure feel intentional rather than repetitive. While this isn’t a book aiming for literary subtlety, it does succeed at balancing erotica with plot and atmosphere.

If you’re looking for taboo-leaning erotica with clear progression, strong tension, and a mysterious edge, The Hucow Hotel absolutely delivers. A bold, indulgent read that knows exactly what it is and commits.

Many thanks to the author for this advanced copy.

"I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.” The Hucow Hotel is an intense and unconventional read that quickly draws you in. Lacy, a London native, travels to Australia to continue a holiday romance, only to discover that her partner has already moved on. Stranded without the funds to return home, she learns of a remote hotel where she can earn her keep. One bus ride later, she steps into a world that marks the true beginning of her journey. At the hotel reception, Lacy meets Joey, a laborer with an affable, almost boyish charm that masks a far darker, more troubled interior. Their chemistry is immediate, and the narrative invites the reader to invest in their relationship from the outset. What unfolds is a connection that develops in unexpected, unsettling, and ultimately strikingly beautiful ways. The novel is structured into four sections, Buildings One through Four, each escalating both the narrative tension and the emotional and sensual intensity. By the final section, the story reaches a powerful crescendo that is both compelling and memorable. The pacing is strong throughout, making it an immersive read that is difficult to put down. Read the triggers. Because this is about lactation kink. If you’re not used to spice its up to you to dare yourself to read it. 💛

I am a big fan of Ruby Skye books but unfortunately this one was not for me. I really enjoyed the premise of the book but I felt like there could have been more done for her safety. There was nothing that pushed the boundaries for her (except the ending) but she placed the entirety of her trust in her handler. Which I understand but there were times where she wouldn’t have been able to signal with her voice or hands, and it wouldn’t have gone amiss for her handler to let her know how to use her safe word if she needed it. I always appreciate in Rubys books that the FMC can leave or safe word at any time, but felt it could have been more explicit in these situations especially as she didn’t know what she was getting into half the time. I loved the concept though and am excited for other hotel books. Although I enjoyed it, it would have been more stars if not for the ceremony scene which didn’t seem to spark much enjoyment from her and as a result for me kinda killed the vibe of the ending. 2.5 stars rounded down.

Lacy packed her bags and moved across the globe for her HEA, but unfortunately that didn’t go well, and she ended up working at a hotel to make money. I went in having only read sci-fi hucow before, so I was genuinely surprised by what this book had to offer 😳. Joey, her handler who is younger than her did an amazing job taking care of her, and I really appreciated that dynamic.

This book had a lot more lactation than sex, which wasn’t what I expected at all 😳. Ruby is definitely good at the smut aspect, but unfortunately this one was a letdown for me. The sex scenes felt rushed, and some parts were… indigestible for me as someone who struggles with body dysmorphia 😳.

The last few chapters were, umm… okay 😳, but they gave me sort of Midsommar vibes, which didn’t fully work for me. I’m still excited for the next kink book, though. I’m really curious what it’ll be, and I hope it’s for Anna.

This is my honest opinion on the ARC I received. Thank you, Ruby, for the opportunity.

This book was an absolute experience—the kind that lingers long after the last page. What really stood out to me was how positively the story approached kinks and desire. Nothing felt redundant or thrown in for shock value (except maybe ending). Every dynamic, every exploration was rooted in trust and most importantly, choice. The characters weren’t just engaging physically; they were navigating boundaries, discovering themselves, and actively choosing what brought them joy, which made everything feel so much more meaningful.

Beyond the heat, there was a surprising emotional depth. The vulnerability between characters, the way they supported each other’s autonomy, and the emphasis on consent made this feel less like a typical steamy read and more like a celebration of intimacy in all its forms.

It’s rare to find a book that balances spice with substance this well. If you’re looking for something unapologetically bold and genuinely empowering, this one absolutely delivers.

Thank you Ruby Skye for the ARC, I’m sorry I’m just now getting to it!
What a wiiiiiild ride this book is. But I wouldn’t expect anything less from Skye.
This might not be my cup of tea, but I was udderly (pun-intended) fascinated. I feel like I’m in the same boat as the character Anna.
I love how creative and original this story was. I have never read anything like this. I was worried it was going to be exactly like one of the jobs in the final book from The Clarendon Playmates series (iykyk), but boy was I wrong. And I’m so glad I was wrong!
Lacy and Joey had great chemistry and I love how open they were with one another. We love a safe partnership.
That ending actually had me shocked.
And that epilogue…are we getting an Anna book at the other hotel?! 🫠

The Good, The Bad, The Hucow

I’m not one to kink shame, but I will kink question.

Tropes

- Hucow
- Forced Proximity
- Body Modification
- Sex Worker
- Group Activity
- Lactation
- InstaLove

So this story is completely written in the FMC’s POV. She down on her luck and finds a really interesting job to make a quick buck. Who knew she was going to find the one™️. Through out the story the build up of spice is very gradual. Pretty tame vanilla activity all the way to some hardcore free use scenarios. There are a few grammatical errors sprinkled in the book that made me reread a few parts but not enough that it took me out of the universe it created.

** BIG SPOILER **

I hated the ending ceremony. The surprise shaving and branding felt absolutely insane to cult like to me. Not a fan of it and wish it didn’t happen.

! WTF did I just read? !

FMC Lacy is in need of making a lot of money quickly so that she can get home. She finds herself boarding a bus to the secret Hucow Hotel. She has no idea what paying guests will be asking her to do as she moves through each building of the hotel, but she’s convinced by her handler MMC Joey to have an open mind. And boy does she … This book is full kink and spice that I couldn’t believe was happening , all while our FMC and MMC fell deeply in love with each other. The story is different and I couldn’t put it down, and written so beautifully. Now I’m intrigued and want to know more about this kink. As Ruby Skye mentions, there’s got to be places out there like this - Right?

Ruby always manages to write spice and Kink in a way that makes me enjoy reading about things that don't interest me but I literally cant stop reading it. The Hucow Hotel is such an amazing concept, love that it focuses on one specific Kink but you also get some additions on the side sometimes too. this is super spicy but you also get to see a really beautiful love story, based on respect, openness and acceptance.

I've read quite a few books in my life that have some pretty unusual kinks in them, but I've never read a book quite like this one. This book was smutty with a capital S, and while not all the kinks in this book appealed to me, it was still pretty hot to read!

If you're looking for a filthy, dirty, smutty book that will rock your world, then you absolutely need to read this one!

Received this book as an ARC. It was an interesting one for sure, having read The Clarendon Playmate Series I thought that it would be just a repeat in some aspects but luckily this didn't feel like I've read anything before. New approach to the kink world. An enjoyable read and probably looking forward to the next Hotel should there be one in the near future.

I weirdly enjoyed this however the end scene ruined it for me. The premise of the book was good but I felt at times the FMC was totally reliant on her handler and felt like the end scene ruined their trust that they built. Without this scene I would have rated higher but that scene just killed the vibe for me.

Ruby does such a good job of showcasing kinks in a way that you learn about them. They seem so thoroughly researched. After reading her Clarendon Playmates series I knew she'd do this well. You can go into her books unaware and she will hold your hand and guide you through, slowly progressing through the levels like her MCs.

The Hucow Hotel by Ruby Skye is a hot, addictive and impossible to put down story.
From the moment Lacy steps onto the bus to the Hucow Hotel, the story took me down the rabbit hole. The constant build-up toward the infamous Building Four creates a level of anticipation that kept me saying just one more chapter.
Lacy's arrival at the hotel is out of desperation for survival. As she progresses through the hotel’s hierarchy, the tension steadily escalates as she re discovers herself, what she’s capable of and how far she’s willing to go. This was both exciting and captivating.
