Diversity: foster care
Associated Song: Silver Spoon By Erin Lacount
Content Warning: sensitive poems about a large range of topics

I made the mistake of reading this book at 11pm at night . It wasnt a bad mistake though. Just an emotional one

This poetry book is raw and honest. It details candid feelings from the author.

I myself was in the care system from the age of 5 and found myself relating to a lot of these poems

The poem Why broke me because it's exactly the conversation I want to have with my mother, but I'm unsure if I will ever be ready emotionally

Some of these pages felt the author had taken my thoughts from me and put them on paper

Reading these poems has only made me want to get back into writing poetry and maybe release my own

There are so many pieces of literature about the care system , what its like , how it effects but written by professionals

Reading these poems was very nice as I could emphasise with the author

I will be reading more from the author

This was a deeply moving poetic storytelling of life in care and how it makes you tough and resilient in life.

Booklover, was such a clever acrostic/poem and very true to escape life when needed into an easily accessible world, like books provide us with.

The collection also details the joy and heartbreak a pet can bring you in life with and after dealing with their loss.

It was a beautifully written book, especially the final part to know as a mum to her new baby, was doing well and the postpartum depression experienced lifted but was so bravely discussed in the end part of the collection too.

From a tough life as a child to a more joyous adulthood and showing how your start in life doesn't have to define or hold you back in any way.
