Sapphic scrooge meets her match in this omegaverse office romance novella!
Dessi Nayak adores everything about the holidays. Her boss, however? Not so much.
When Aiven Burns forces her employees to work until midnight on the eve of the Winter Solstice, sparks fly between her and Dessi—and not in a good way.
As snow falls and deadlines loom at the Mystic Distillery, can Dessi change her boss' heart with a little holiday magick?
If hallmark was cooler, they’d make something like this. Aiven was such the ice queen boss; inflexible, unsmiling, and a workaholic. Dessi was her opposite in almost every way; cheerful, compassionate to a fault, but not a pushover. They both admired things about the other, though neither was good at expressing that until muuuucccchhhhh later. We get some hot AF spice, banter, and, of course, some thawing of the ice queen.
This was awesome. Its short so there isn’t a lot here, but I am very happy with what we got in the pages that were available. This was a lot of fun, and spicy. Basically perfect for a short little spicy novella.
I also really enjoyed the blend of a magical witchy world of potions blended with mass-production capitalism. It added a little something extra!
I don’t have a lot of experience with Omegaverse, so I wasn’t 100% sure what to expect. That being said, I didn’t feel out of the loop one bit, which is also saying something as sometimes with novellas it can feel that way, as its limited on the amount of information you can get. But I felt instantly immersed in the world and was hooked from the get go! I read this in one sitting. I definitely would like to read more Omegaverse in the future and particularly some written by Lily! Definitely recommend if you want a short spicy sapphic Omegaverse Xmas read!
This novella is written in first person with 2x POV’s. Part of the Lez The Halls series. Omegaverse, Office Romance, Boss/Assistant, Age Gap (14 years). 1 main spicy scene.
lily x 🤝🏽 a spicy sapphic AO omegaverse romance. i find novellas & shorts can be so awkwardly paced & was a bit worried because i've only read her longer love stories, but i shouldn't have doubted her! aiven & dessi's story left me feeling so satiated! i would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys sapphic christmassy romantic shorts with tropes like grumpy/sunshine, boss/employee, a light bdsm dynamic & age gap!
4.2 ⭐️ I need to thank this book for finally making me feel festive. Lily truly never disappoints. Sometimes you just need some sapphic omegaverse for the season.
I usually find novellas pretty hit and miss pacing wise and usually they’re a miss. This does read a bit isnta-love wise because of the page confines, but I think the pacing was handled brilliantly.
If you like smut this is pretty spicy and has a lot of omegaverse tropes. The MC is also so icy (and I’m truly weak for an ice Queen).
If you’re looking for a short festive read I’d highly recommend it, but you do need to love ice queens going into this.
Rep// BIPOC Sapphic MC, Sapphic MC. Central romance is Sapphic / WLW. Age gap of 15 years.
TWs listed below, please skip if you don’t want vague spoilers.
TW// age gap (15 years), sex on page, employee/boss relationship.
4.5 stars. Enemies to lovers, office romance AND it’s omegaverse?? Lily X thank you so much for this gift. I appreciate it. I thought this was so much fun. The banter and bickering between Dessi and Aiven was so good and I loved their chemistry. They aren’t the lovey-dovey type of people and it worked for them and I liked that a lot. The spice was fantastic and so sexy and I loved the ending. I honestly wish this had been a full length novel because I want more of these two. I had so much fun with this and thought it was so cute and spicy.
Aiven really lived up to the book title being a grumpy boss that makes the office workers tremble whilst in her presence, but broodiness all starts to dissipate as the precious Dessi manages to defrost Aiven’s heart with her kindness, defiance and honesty.
A cute smutty sapphic novella to enjoy in one sitting with a steamy hot mug of tea. 🔥
Tropes: Age gap Omega & Alpha Sapphic AO Boss Office romance
Almost bit my tongue off because of these two 🥵 😂 happy Solstice and happy reading indeed. It’s a crying shame we couldn’t get 300 pages of these MCs- I’m certain it wouldnt have been difficult.
She did it again! Another spicy, heartfelt, delicious sapphic omegaverse story from Lily X. Perfect for the holidays (duh) and just an all around fun little romp.
Lily X. always delivers. This was a short fun spicy read. I love the ease in which the story goes through and it gave me some seasonal mood, which is weird for me.
Consider me the president of the Dessi Nayak fan club!
In this Christmassy omegaverse novella, Dessi Nayak (an omega) is the assistant to Scrooge-like boss, Aiven Burns (an alpha). Standing up too many times for fellow employees at The Distillery lands Dessi in hot water, but she’s not deterred from taming her cold-hearted boss.
The characters in this are an absolute blast. I liked switching between the POVs—while Aiven does seem strict, her justifications for the way she acts are realistic for her character, and both MCs are complex in delightfully contrasting ways.
The extreme tension between Dessi and Aiven carries right from the office to the bedroom. The buildup between the two makes their spicy scenes even hotter, and age gap, hot-for-boss fans have a 15-year gap to look forward to here.
Maybe we don’t need three ghosts to visit us this Christmas—we just need Dessi Nayak. And if you’re iffy on omegaverse, let this be the holiday read that wins you over.
Grumpy x Sunshine, OV and sapphic? You bet I ate this up. Perfectly paced for such a short novella. Love the world Lily X has created, and definitely keen to read more books.
I honestly can say as a story this is a short good book but I find it hard to understand the sapphic omegaverse actually being FF its to close to FM. That is my opinion though and it is still a good bood with an awesome ending
This one was such a huge letdown for me especially since I have read from this author before and adored it. Burnzilla was honestly more than just an unlikeable alpha ice queen. There were absolutely no redeemable qualities about her so when her relationship with her secretary turns spicy, I was rooting for the other FMC to walk away. She was better off. Also this may be more of a me thing but this is the first time I’ve read an omegaverse story where the female alpha had a phallus. I know with omegaverse, authors often take their own liberties with how the anatomy works, but this was jarring for me. I wish there had been some content warnings at the beginning.
I didn’t *love* this. I was really into the other books in the Lez the Hall series and this was my last read. I felt like the type of story maybe just wasn’t for me. I’ve never read books in the Omegaverse and actually had to google the meaning 🙈 Don’t judge me. This was totally out of my comfort zone. I think reading it, I now know, I probably wouldn’t read another one again. I felt uncomfortable a few times throughout the book. This book was the only one in the Lez the Halls series that didn’t have a content warning. I would’ve skipped it, if I knew better. I’m not a typical DNF person, but came close with this one. Super spicy, and very low plot - if you like this type of romance fiction, it’s perfect for you! Not someone to yuck someone’s yum, but it’s not for me. ⭐️ 2/5 🔥 4.5/5
