Oh my gosh! What a read!
It's been a long time since I've read a high fantasy book that had me turning pages like my life depended on it.

Full of action, gods, princes, strong female main characters, strong male characters, magic and trials! The book is very well written and paced, with no areas that were flat. The storyline is strong and keeps the reader well engaged.
The FMC is a strong willed, well put together character. I enjoyed her story very much and as for all the characters, princes, Gods, they were all so very well written.

I am so glad I was able to get my hands on a copy of this book! That ending... cannot wait for book 2!

thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy to read in exchange for an honest review.

(My Beta Review) This story has a strong storyline with it being about shocking trials, grumpy princes, a curse needing to be broken, morally grey men and evil gods.

The plot is balanced very nicely and you don't get bored in the middle of the book. The world building is well done along with the romance and suspense.

Abbigale, the FMC, is not whiney and is very strong-willed. It felt like I was with her throughout the whole book, the princes keep you on your toes, and the ending was like, "Oh, dang, I can't wait for book two.. There is one character who had my heart from first meet tall, dark, and handsome. If you want to know who check it out when it comes out in late 2025. 5 out of 5 stars

From start to finish this book had me intrigued.
The pacing flowed well it didn’t feel rushed or to slow everything was timed and spaced out perfectly.
The story line was easy to follow and understand, you definitely don’t feel the need to skim through pages (and trust me you don’t want to you’ll miss key things hidden throughout the book)
Everything in this book felt needed nothing felt like it was just to reach a word count all events in this book were written well and made so much sense in the bigger picture. (Nothing worse than reading a book and parts feel like filler) I even had some OMG moments when reading.
The FMC is one of my favourites I have read without any spoilers she is a badass, a love story isn’t her focus nor is it of the book (although there is some small hints throughout for potential romance) she is strong minded and doesn’t take anyone’s shit.
Now the MMC’s wow they are all so different which keeps things so interesting, I didn’t know who to trust or believe when reading this book which I think is half the fun.
If you enjoy morally grey MMC’s, a FMC who isn’t annoying, side characters who actually have depth and an amazing story line that will have you on the edge of your seat then this book is for you.
I am already thinking about book two and all the possibilities.
So glad I was given the opportunity to read an ARC of this book please add it to your want to read and keep an eye out for October 2025 release.
Strap in for a read that you won’t want to end and will binge like it’s nothing (unfortunately I work full time so I couldn’t sit and read in one sitting like I wanted to)

This story had me pacing my living room, clutching my chest, muttering “oh dang” like it was a religious chant.

I cracked this book open expecting a casual fantasy read and suddenly I was knee-deep in shocking trials, curses, morally grey chaos, evil gods, and a grumpy prince with trust issues. Like ma’am, I didn’t sign up for emotional whiplash, but here I am loving every damn second of it.

From the very first page I was hooked. The pacing? Flawless. The world-building? So vivid I could practically taste the danger. The writing? Chef’s kiss every scene mattered. No filler, no fluff, no “oh this could’ve been cut.” Every moment had purpose, and the OMG twists? Yeah, I gasped out loud.

Now, let’s talk about Abbigale — my girl is STRONG. Not the fake “I’m strong because I say so” kind. She’s the I will burn the world down before I let you break me kind. She’s not whiny, she’s not chasing romance, and she doesn’t take anyone’s shit.

And the men. Oh, the morally grey, tall, dark, suspicious men who had me questioning everyone’s motives and my own taste in men. I didn’t know who to trust, and I loved that. It’s chaos. It’s betrayal. It’s intrigue. It’s everything I want from a fantasy book.

And uh… Excuse me, what do you mean I have to wait for book two?!

If you love a badass FMC, complicated men, and a fantasy world that grabs you by the throat and won’t let go — The Eclipsed and Eternal is your next binge read.

I’m already mentally begging for book two. Send help. Or the princes. Preferably both.

“𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔, 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒐𝒔, 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖?”

I absolutely loved this new fantasy book from Rebekah Bryer.

The world drew me in from the first page, following the journey of Abbigale and the other Solstices's and the deadly trials that lay ahead of them due to being born on a rare celestial eclipse. 🌙

The world building was compelling, I felt like I was there! 🥰

I honestly wasent sure how it was going to end, but now I am just waiting for the next one, I need it now 💯.

Congratulations Rebekah to your first release 🖤.

I stand by everything I said in my beta review (posted below). The final version of The Eclipsed and Eternal is simply a masterpiece. Every little detail is so carefully curated and filled with beautiful and at times grotesque descriptive language. For me, this is NOT a romantasy despite the hints of a romantic subplot, it is a gothic fantasy novel that explores complex ideas of politics and challenges the patriarchy. The FMC, Abbigale is so loveable because she is real: she has flaws, and a traumatic background. You will not know who to trust, and I promise the ending will leave you in a chokehold!

BETA REVIEW:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(Beta read)

To say I am impressed by this debut novel by Rebekah Bryer is an understatement. The Eclipsed & Eternal offers everything that Lightlark failed to deliver; epic trials, a curse placed centuries earlier, brooding princes and cruel gods. That might be a hot take, but I will stand by it (don’t get me wrong Lightlark was still enjoyable, just not my favourite).

All of the characters in this story are interesting. Abbigale, the FMC is so strong willed which had me rooting for her and vivid descriptions made me feel like I was right there with her. The cursed princes are all so multi-layered, you won’t know who to trust! Other characters also stand out, like Conrad for his humor and Francesca for her mysterious vibe.

The plot was well-paced and addictive. You will not want to put this one down!

Keep an eye out for The Eclipsed & Eternal in late 2025

I recieved an ARC of this book and it was genuinely one of my favourite reads this year. I could not look away and from it this book had me in a CHOKEHOLD.
There is no way I could have foreseen how this book was going to play out and was SHOCKED, BAMBOOZLED, AMAZED at the plot twists, secrets and discoveries.

The author did an incredible job of intertwining the past with the present so that we can slowly unravel the story.

Some tropes
❤️‍🔥 morally grey princes
❤️‍🔥 prophecies
❤️‍🔥 gods
❤️‍🔥 trials

I need book two IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much Rebekah, for a PR box and ARC for The Eclipsed and Eternal, I am so appreciative and grateful!

I was so excited for this book and I was not disappointed one bit!
I was promised dark, emotional and not a romantasy and that's exactly what I got!

From the prologue I was intrigued by the world and story, and then I met more of the cast of characters and got emotionally attached. (obviously, I haven't learnt anything from reading fantasy) 🤣

I found Rebekah's writing style to be easy to read and I wish I could visualise what I'm reading because I feel like you'd be right there alongside the characters!

It does have some things from a fantasy starter kit; a prophecy, some trials & (cursed) princes. But I feel as though The Eclipsed and Eternal is so unique in its own way!

There are gods in this book also, but can they be trusted. Probably not, they're manipulative and fascinating at the same time

I really liked the FMC, Abbigale, she's complicated, stubborn, scared and brave. She does makes mistakes, and you really see both a strong and vulnerable side to her character.

I can't wait for book two to hopefully spend more time with the side characters and the princes!

The Eclipse and Eternal is not a romantasy, although it does seem like there is romantic intrigue, it is a dark fantasy. So please check your trigger warnings before reading!

But if you like multiple morally grey characters, trials, prophecies and a book that will have losing track of time, I absolutely recommend The Eclipse and Eternal!

**ARC** I'm a bit conflicted on this book. The story itself is fascinating. I love Abbigale, the fact that she's not extremely beautiful or a fighter, but that she has such intellect. I enjoy how the immortal princes are so different even though they are brothers. Hamish was my favorite character by far.

I enjoyed the world building. The different deities were interesting. It was a bit confusing to remember at first (since there are so many), but I started to understand gradually while going through the story and referring back to the chart at the beginning of the story.

Despite the interesting story, I feel like the book needs a bit more editing. There were several misspellings that I saw while reading (over five, but less than ten). Some parts were a bit confusing, and I had to go back and reread to figure out some things or to figure out who was speaking/being spoken about. For example, at one point, the story from Abbygale's perspective was talking about Eleanor. A couple of paragraphs go by when it mentioning a few others, including Abbygale herself. The third paragraph refers to someone as "she", and I had to go back and reread twice to figure out that this was referring to Eleanor, even though she hadn't been mentioned in the two paragraphs before.

Overall, I rather enjoyed reading this. The ending makes me eager to read the next one when it is released!

What. A. Ride.
Honestly, I loved everything about this book and the storyline.
It was fast-paced enough that it didn't drag, but not so fast-paced that you struggled to keep up with the world building and magic system.
The different POVs kept the pages turning and me thinking I had it all figured out only to realise I definitely did NOT have it all figured out!

Our FMC is written beautifully. She's full of grit, determination and a solid 'never say die' attitude. I love that the focus is on the trials and her fight to survive and find answers rather than a love story being the primary focus.

The MMCs...and there are multiple!! They're quite fabulous. They're all extremely good looking (obviously) and deeply flawed in their own ways and I couldn't actually decide which of them I actually liked. It probably doesn't help that you just know they're all manipulative, untrustworthy and keeping secrets!

The supporting cast of characters was just as intriguing and necessary to the plot and I loved the friendships between the FMC and the other girls.

The Eclipsed and Eternal is dark, it's emotional with morally grey characters and will keep you reading just one more chapter at 2am.

Thank you so much to the author for the gift of a The Eclipsed and Eternal PR Box. It was my very first PR box and you absolutely delivered an incredible story to go with it 🖤

From its opening pages, this book transported me. Rebekah Bryer’s writing is richly descriptive yet never overbearing. The balance struck between setting every scene so vividly, yet leaving space for your imagination to run wild, is simply breathtaking. Whether I was in a dimly lit chamber or facing one of the story’s many challenges, I felt like I was living it, every whisper, every shadow, every turn.

The world building unfolds masterfully. It doesn’t just dump you into lore, instead, the environment, the magic, everything is woven into the narrative thread. The world itself is brutal and dark, riddled with death, decay, rot and monsters, and it constantly reminds you that every power, every choice, every “gift” comes with a price... That sense of consequence, of a harsh, uncompromising setting, makes the stakes feel high and real!

The magic system was one of my favourite parts. It starts off subtle, mysterious characters and abilities that only slowly begin to link up as the plot unfolds. The unfolding “ohhhhhh—whatttt” moments had me smiling aloud. I loved how it all came together, how patient the reveal was, and how satisfying it felt once the puzzle pieces clicked into place.

The MFC Abbigale has made it to one of my favourite characters. From a very young age she has endured cruelty, danger, loss…but she never becomes a victim. She fights. She grows. She plans and hopes and endures. Her internal strength, her moments of doubt but also her resolve, made her journey feel gut-wrenching. I admired her courage, her strategic mind, her vulnerability balanced by fierce survival instinct. She is the kind of lead who commands your loyalty.

"The fire under my skin was stirring, restless now, refusing to be ignored any longer. I was done being insignificant"

And then there are the morally grey curses princes. Not just one ambiguous figure, but three. They’re layered, complex, full of hidden motives, and half the time you don’t know who to trust, which made the story even more addictive!

The side characters add richness, some bring humour when all feels too dark, some bring loyalty, some bring absolute heartbreak. Each has their own weight and personality. They don’t feel unnecessary, they deepen the story without stealing the spotlight.

It’s a story full of secrets, half-truths, curses, prophecies, death, and betrayal, all tangled together in a way that keeps you turning pages. And that ending!!! DID not see that coming! The tension never lets up, the stakes only rise, and just when you think you can breathe, the ending hits and you need book two immediately.

Possibly my most anticipated read of the year!!

What I loved about this story is that it’s not just about deadly trials and godly chaos, but there is this intricate mix of mythology, religion, and politics derived from real societal structures we actually see in our world. It is reimagined in this new, fascinating way, and it felt complex and intentional, and it was just so mesmerising and interesting to read!

From the very beginning, the prologue hooked me. It’s probably one of my favourite parts of the entire book, not because the rest wasn’t just as amazing (it was), but because it set the tone so perfectly. It introduced us to the princes, the mental state of the king, a few of the gods (who had a pretty active role throughout the story), especially the goddess of death, who is cunning, sly, and just mesmerizing to read about.

We meet a lot of different characters in this book, but our main one is Abigail. She is one of the few people born under a rare eclipse on the winter solstice. Those born beneath that celestial event are shunned by society and summoned to the Eternal Palace to face the Deadly Winter Sentinel, a series of five brutal trials spread over 25 days. I loved the glimpses we got into the past Centinels too. They were ruthless, and it was such a clever way to show just how far people are willing to go to survive.

I also really enjoyed learining about curse each prince bears. One haunted by ghosts and demons as his sanity slowly unravels, another consumed by an insatiable thirst for blood, and the third able to replicate himself yet cursed to find no satisfaction in life. Every power comes at a cost, every gift, perfectly balanced with a curse.

We follow multiple POVs, and the author Rebekah handles that so well. I was never bored, never lost, each perspective added something new. We see the tension and resentment between the princes, the darkness they carry, and the layers of magic, mythology, and divine power that rule over them. The lore of the Divine Twins and the relationships between gods were especially fascinating, it really makes you realize that the humans in this world are pawns in a much bigger, divine game.

The worldbuilding was very well done. I could picture every scene vividly, and the writing is both beautiful and purposeful, not a single word feels wasted.

Rebekah's prose isn’t just pretty for the sake of being pretty, each word was intentional and furtherde the story. It felt so immersive.

There’s one particular character whose storyline really stood out to me, I won’t spoil who, because I think discovering it yourself is half the fun, but their curse is unlike anything I’ve read before. The way it ties into themes of life for life, power, survival, and identity is so cleverly done.

There are a lot of characters in this book, and I think it was smart to focus on deepening a few relationships rather than overwhelming the reader with too many arcs at once. Some characters definitely have their own hidden agendas, which makes me even more excited for what’s to come. I do think the next book will dive deeper into their motivations, and I can’t wait for that.

Overall, The Eclipsed and Eternal is dark, emotional, and full of morally grey characters that blur the line between divine and human. It’s gothic, eerie, and beautifully atmospheric, exactly what I hoped it would be. It was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, and it absolutely delivered. I cannot wait to see where Rebekah takes this world next.

Being born under a rare celestial eclipse is considered bad juju. So if you are, you’re shunned and summoned to the Eternal Palace to participate in the deadly Winter Centennial. A gauntlet of 5 trials over 25 days.

This book pleasantly surprised me. I really liked the story and the idea of the Divine Twins. I’m curious to learn more about this aspect. I think the world building was done really well and it was enough to build images clearly in my head.

I really loved the idea of the trials and think the trials themselves were done well. I did find myself wishing they had lasted longer just to really build that ‘on the edge of your seat’ tension that leaves you really gasping.

I enjoyed the characters, particularly Hamish. I think Hamish felt really authentic & emotional which lead me to really connect with him. Same with Lorenzo. Because there were so many characters, it was hard to connect with a lot of them on that deeper level that really draws you in. I did love the friendship between the girls!

I really like the way that Rebekah writes and some of the quotes are so beautiful and poignant but struggled a little bit with moving to the next day, or flashbacks all within the same paragraph. It threw me off and I found myself having to read back a few times to see if I had missed something. It was hard to differentiate between the flashbacks and current day.

The ending was good! Of course it would end on a cliffhanger like that!! I love and hate it 😂 overall, I did really enjoy this book! I am very curious & excited to see where it will go!

Thank you so much to Rebekah for sending me a PR Box and an early copy of your book!

THIS 👏 DAMN 👏 BOOK 👏

The plot, the characters, the writing style, everything, was so addicting! I was hooked from beginning to end and left wanting more! This was the high fantasy read I had been craving and it certainly filled the cup to the brim.

The pacing was impeccable . Each page was a perfect bite-sized chunk of action, adventure and grumpy brooding princes (yessir we love those 🙂‍↕️). I was actually quite relieved that there wasn’t much (if any) romance in this book. I have read too many romantasy books recently and have been beginning to get the romance ick, so this factor alone just made me love the book more!

I do love a good FMC who has had a traumatic past that leads to her becoming a fierce and flawed character. It’s also love a multi-POV, as this definitely allows you to understand the characters more!

I’m excited to read book two, hoping to dive into more complexity of the characters, along with more action and maybe some interesting plot twists!

Thank you so much Rebekah for sending me the most beautifully curated PR box and a physical copy to read and review! I’m certainly treasure this book for years to come🥹❤️

This book is MIND BLOWING 🤯

And I have goosebumps from finishing this book.

I was so excited to read this book, and it absolutely deserves to be hyped up- there's beauty in this dark fantasy, it's compelling, I lost myself and my time in reading this, I felt this book was so descriptive and immersive- my imagination went wild when reading. The world building was detailed and rich, yet there was still some secrecy and smaller details were elusive.

I questioned myself many times when it came to the plot itself and my mind went wild with what could happen and potential twists, but none of them came to fruitition as this one keeps you on your toes, constantly guessing and making you read more to uncover truths, lies, secrets, everything!

Now the characters- they are phenomenal!!!

"There was no Prince Charming here. Only cruel Eternal one's."

Abbigale- a Solitice, an eclipse, she's a wonderful FMC, she has been let down her whole life but she builds herself up, she's powerful, caring and compassionate. Everyone is drawn to her, including the eternal sons.

All the male characters- they each have their own agendas, each have unique qualities but I was so confused about how I felt with all of them, I still do, except Hamish- I loved Hamish!

Ultimately, I didn't know what I was getting myself into other than some tropes- BUT It made the reading experience even better and I really REALLY enjoyed this adventure and I cannot wait to see what happens next as the end of this book creates more questions.

Tropes:
🌙strong fmc
✨trials
🌙multi-povs
✨morally grey princes
🌙found family
✨prophecies & gods

Very mixed feelings on this one. I really enjoyed the multiple POVs — it was great seeing all the different sides of the story, and the found family element was done really nicely. The Trials themselves were interesting and creative, though at times I found myself a bit lost in the romance aspect (still not entirely sure who the love interest is… or if there is one?). It might be a setup for book two, though.

I did get a little confused with all the gods, names, and shifting timelines — sometimes the flashbacks blended into the present tense. But I absolutely loved the writing choice of having the FMC’s POV in first person and the MMC’s in second — it gave the story such a unique tone.

Overall, a good and intriguing read with a lot of potential. Unique world, creative structure, and I’ll definitely be picking up book two to see where it goes. 🌙✨

Dark and moody vampires, with a FMC who doesn't know her heritage or that she is the key to breaking a curse? Incredible.

It took me a little bit to get into it, but once i was 30% in I was hooked! Deadly trials, mixed in with family secrets and yearning on multiple different levels and characters, I just enjoyed it very much.

So many secrets and I think thats what I loved about this book, that Rebekah hid so much from us. Even with the multiple POVs, you were kept guessing.

At times it felt a little clunky and I didn't understand some parts to only get it a little later, or got lost in some of the story telling of the gods.

But I overally enjoyed this book! I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4 stars for this high fantasy romance!
Amazing world building, taking me out of reality to where I want to be.
We follow our FMC who is a strong independent woman! (My absolute fave to read).
She is a tribute of sorts, born during a specific time (eclipse) to break a curse/fate that was requested.
She must go through 5 trials with her fellow tributes to find the right one to break the curse.
Our grumpy princes, keep this entertaining

Unlike others I did struggle to get through the start, but once in to the trials I was hooked!
Will she prevail???

I was gifted this book as an ARC read, and as someone who has been reading only ARCs for the past two months, this was a breath of fresh air. The storyline was captivating the whole way through and I almost regretting finishing it because now I need the next one to come out!!!

I am very good at finding the plot twist, so I did figure out one of the twists pretty early on, but the other one caught me by surprise. The whole time I read this, I truly switched back and forth between who I wanted our FMC to end up with (still stuck between two, IM sorry).

I also found the world to actually be unique. There are too many “ACOTAR” wannabes. But this author created a truly new world that I couldn’t get enough of. This book brought me out of one of the worst book slumps I’ve had in a long time. And there are times you can tell someone was just meant to write. And this is definitely one of those times.

THANK YOU to the author for allowing me to ARC read, and respectfully please bring us a second book NOW 😂

ARC Review – The Eclipsed and Eternal by Rebekah Bryer 'The Eternal & Divine' Book #1
★ ★ ★ ★ (4-star)

From the very first page, The Eclipsed and Eternal completely pulled me in. Rebekah Bryer delivers a dark and magical fantasy filled with immortal princes, court intrigue, and a prophecy that feels like it could end the world. The world-building is chef’s kiss, so vivid I could honestly picture myself walking through the Eternal Palace, holding my breath during the Trials, and getting lost in every dangerous, glittering corner of this world.

The characters are fascinating and complex, especially the morally grey men. I swear I didn’t know who to trust… and I still don’t! Like ma’am, I did not sign up for emotional whiplash, yet here I am, loving every single second of it.

The palace setting stuck with me. High stakes, secret prophecies, and tension that practically drips off the page. The chemistry between the characters is addictive, and the mix of mystery, longing, and danger kept me glued to the story. Even though this is the first book, it already feels like Bryer is setting up something huge, and I’m beyond excited to see where it goes next.

Now, for my little critique: there’s a lot happening at times. The mix of politics, flashbacks, and lore can get a bit tangled, and a few scenes could’ve slowed down just enough to let the emotions land harder. Some tropes (the cursed royals, the mysterious stranger, the deadly trials) feel familiar, but Bryer’s writing still makes them feel fresh and enjoyable.

If you love fantasy with a dark twist, slow-burn tension, morally grey chaos, and a badass FMC who refuses to back down, The Eclipsed and Eternal is absolutely worth the read.

I’m giving it 4 stars, because while it’s not perfect, it delivered. I’m hooked, I’m obsessed, and I’m not okay knowing I have to wait for book two.

Rebekah, girl… what do you mean I have to WAIT?! I’m begging. Send help. Or the princes. Preferably both.

The Eclipse and Eternal is a dark fantasy that delivers beautiful descriptive writing in a haunting gothic setting with great world building and layered characters. For a debut I was really impressed with the quality of the writing! This one had Gods, Demi Gods, witches, dark magic, curses, and all manner of terrifying creatures. From the first chapter I was intrigued!

Firstly, we have our FMC Abigail, born on the celestial eclipse, she must take part in trials along with all of the other eclipse born at the Eternal Palace. Then there are the 3 cursed princes who host the Winter Centennial. Each prince seems to have their own agenda and struggles as they seek to lift their curse.

This is the kind of book where you don’t really know who the villain is; it was steeped in mystery, and I loved how it all unfolded. The twists and turns had my jaw on the floor at times.

While there’s a tiny bit of romance, this is mainly a fantasy book, with multiple POVs. At the beginning I did find it a little hard to connect with the characters, but by midway I was locked in and fully invested. I loved Hamish and Conrad in particular!

I enjoyed how the world was described in such detail, and all the mystery surrounding the Gods and the curse. The trials were also not too drawn out and very well done. Also, I really appreciated the shorter chapters! It kept the story moving at a good pace.

All up, this is a really great debut, and I can’t wait to see what is in store in the next book! If you love gothic fantasy, with rich immersive writing that is lighter on the romance, but heavy on the plot, definitely add this to your TBR.

Tropes:
🌒Dark fantasy
🌒Cursed princes
🌒Morally grey MMCs
🌒Gothic vibes
🌒High Stakes
🌒Deadly trials
🌒Multi POV

“ People never like to linger on uncomfortable truths. It’s why stories matter; they cradle veiled truths, lessons, things that sometimes history would rather we forget.”
.
I love that quote, & I haven't had so many highlights on my Kindle in a long time. Bravo!
.
So, about this book. A debut novel, gothic fantasy, games & trials, deadly monsters, an unusual decaying of the land, a prophecy, princes, a mysterious cinnamon haired fellow (would have loved this explored more!), found family, angry Gods, obscure magic/gifts and more. This is a plot heavy book with LOTS of characters that are introduced very early on. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I did have trouble remembering some of the characters, which also might be a me thing. The FMC is likeable, the multiple MMC's all bring different elements to the storyline, the comic relief is well timed, and there are definitely characters that I just did not like. (Isn't it clever how authors can do that! Coerce us into liking/disliking certain characters!)
.
As with any book, the last 100 pages were full of fast-paced action, adventure, and revelations. I did have to read a few paragraphs more than once to make sure I understood what had happened, and even now, I'm only about 90% sure I got it all. The cliff-hanger was unexpected, and I am genuinely looking forward to reading the next book when it is released.
.
Strap yourself in because once I jumped into this story, I didn't want to put it down.

Huge huge huge thank you to Rebekah Bryar for the opportunity to read and review her ARC!

I don't know where to start with The Eclipsed and the Eternal! It had me hooked pretty quickly and there were so many times where I had no idea where it was going to go.

Every Century, solstices (the children born during a celestial eclipse) are taken to the Eternal Palace, where they are to compete in the Winter Centennial, a series of five dangerous trials over 25 days. The prize? Becoming a consort to one of the Eternal Princes.

The story is primarily told in first person from Abbigales perspective, shifting to third person perspective for other characters. Abbigale's fate has been woven from birth; everything in her life has led to the Winter Centennial whether she wants it to or not.

Abbigale also has a fire within her; having developing friendships with fellow Solstices, she will do anything to help them survive. Meanwhile, she catches the eyes of all the Eternal Princes, and not necessarily in a good way. Abbigale has had many choices taken from her in her life, but does she have it within her to finally choose to defy fate?

Did I mention the FMC is 25? Also slow burn question mark?

The Eclipsed and the Eternal will keep you gripped and guessing and I hope it gains more traction in the romantasy sphere- also bonus, Rebekah is a fellow Aussie 😍

I would like book 2 now please.

I really enjoyed this book! While a lot of it was clearly setting things up for the ending, it still managed to be incredibly engaging all the way through. The pacing was well-balanced, and even though the tension built slowly at first, once the story hit its stride in the second half, I absolutely absorbed it, and I couldn’t put it down.

The world was beautifully written and so easy to picture. It felt layered and vivid, and I loved how every new reveal added more depth to both the setting and the story. The characters felt so alive, and I appreciated how complex they all were. Every decision and conversation seemed to carry hidden meaning, and I constantly found myself questioning who could really be trusted.

Even though a few moments were somewhat predictable, it didn’t take away from the experience at all. In fact, knowing where certain threads might lead just made me more eager to see how everything would come together. I also loved that I couldn’t quite figure out who the true “bad guy” was or how bad certain characters were. There were so many layers of half-truths, conflicting loyalties, and emotional moments that kept me constantly guessing.

Overall, this was such a strong and captivating read. It perfectly sets the stage for what’s to come, and I can’t wait to read book 2!

✨ Thank you to Rebekah Bryer for the eARC!

The Eclipsed and the Eternal tells the story of Abbigale, a girl born on the Solstice and destined to compete in the trials to become a consort to one of three cursed princes.

Abbigale is more accepting of her fate to go to the castle and compete in the trials but after being raised by her aunt with her cousins (who sound awful), I totally get the motivation to get out of there ASAP 😂 All the Solstice born citizens are rounded up and taken to compete in the five trials for the honour of being chosen as a consort for a prince, never mind the fact that the trials are deadly and the princes are cursed.

Abbigale makes friends with some of her fellow Solstices and it came as no surprise to me that I ate it up, I love found family! When she attends the first ball tasked with winning a favour from one of the sponsors, she meets a mystery man and one of the princes and I immediately wanted more info, especially for the mystery man (new trope unlocked?)

The trials are so well planned out, they're devious, vicious, and show the nature of our prince Ethos as being ruthless and willing to do anything in the name of entertainment. The princes are excellent characters, I couldn't quite work out who to trust, who to pity, who to hate, they constantly kept me guessing.

I'm definitely invested in this story and can't wait to find out what happens next!

The Eclipsed in this book refer to the unfortunate souls who happen to be born on the momnetous occasion of an eclipse. Once these people come of age, they are thrown into deadly trials to become consorts of none other than the immortal princes and their courtiers!

The Eternal refer to these princes who are cursed with immortatilty amongst other powers they wield...all given by the Godess of darkness herself. And all as morally grey as the other...

This story has lots of stunning world-building and backstory...from Gods and Godesses to Prophecies. I did find myself a little confused at times as to who these Gods and Godesses were (doesn't take much to confuse me anyways!!) and how they inpact the story, but all becomes clear!!

Our FMC, Abbigale, is impressive for reasons you may not think! She isn't described as remarkably pretty or wealthy or anything like that. Instead she remains steadfast and loyal to her friends throughout the trials, using her intelligence and wit to survive! Something that attracts the attention of the Immortal Princes anddddddd Hamish alike *omg I actually love Hamish, not gonna say too much abt him bc i dont wanna spoil this book lool*

Thank you @bryer.rm for an arc of this book <3 Arc-tober is offcially over now! 🥳🤣🩷

When I finished reading the prologue, I knew I was hooked...

This book has been nothing short of spectacular. Rebekah has created such a rich world and such captivating characters that it’s impossible not to let yourself drown in this epic, multi-POV story.

Our FMC, Abbigale, born during an eclipse!, must face, along with the other Solstices, five deadly trials set up by the Eternal Royal Family. Who you choose to trust, your ability to charm gods or princes, your wit, and your skillset will determine how well you fare during the trials.

Fortunately for Abbigale, she’s a reader boss and finds in some of the other Solstices her anchor (the motivation to give her best), while uncovering harsh truths hidden behind riddles and legend.
This book will make you cry, laugh, worry, curse, and empathize with every character, regardless of their motivations... that’s how well Rebekah has written them.

I won’t deny that, at some points, I was tempted to put the book in the freezer to prevent the inevitable… just like Joey in Friends.

I received an ARC of this book, all opinions are my own.

4.5⭐️

I was so excited to get an advanced copy of this book and it did not disappoint.

I was pulled in from the prologue and at no point during the story did I feel myself lose interest or find the pace to lull. No page felt unnecessary, leaving puzzle pieces placed throughout the book both intentionally and deliberately.

It was neither plot or character heavy imo but perfectly balanced to leave you invested in each of the MCs and side characters while also drawing you into the events unfolding, leaving you wanting to keep turning the page to learn more.

All that said I still have no idea who I’m supposed to like or trust and I find that was half the fun. The ending certainly added to my what and who on earth is going on but in a good way 🤌🏻

I thoroughly enjoyed this read with it being a great debut by the author. I look forward to book 2!

✨Strong willed FMC

The Eclipsed and Eternal is a sweeping high fantasy filled with kingdoms, immortal princes, and prophecies spanning centuries. In this world, any child born during the eclipse must face the Winter Centennial. The solstice is a brutal trial of bloodshed and survival.
Abbigale is a remarkably strong FMC. Though considered “ordinary,” her resilience and compassion set her apart. Her heroism, especially toward her fellow competitors, makes her easy to root for. She’s determined to survive, but never at the cost of her friends’ lives.
The plot is well-paced and unfolds beautifully, building tension toward an epic finale. I found myself rushing through pages, eager to uncover every clue about the prophecy and the tangled conspiracies among the princes.
While there are subtle hints of romance, the true focus remains on the prophecy and its far-reaching consequences. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can’t wait to dive into book two.

From the very first page, I was completely captivated by Winter Centennial. The pacing is impeccable every trial, every twist, every moment of intrigue feels deliberate and essential. Nothing here is filler; each scene deepens the world or the characters in meaningful ways, and there are genuinely OMG moments that left me breathless.
Abbigale is an absolute favorite of mine strong-minded, unyielding, and refreshingly focused on her own journey rather than just a romance. The morally grey MMCs kept me on edge, never sure who to trust, and the side characters are fully realized, with their own motives and depth that enrich the story.
This book is perfect for anyone who loves high-stakes fantasy with complex characters, intricate world-building, and a heroine who refuses to take anyone’s nonsense. It’s a thrilling, immersive read that had me on the edge of my seat and left me thinking long after I turned the last page.
