Who needs a handsome prince when you have a dragon, and the courage to decide your own destiny. Lady Fern and her queen dragon, Auren, are sick of family pressure. Fern’s father tried to push her into marriage with a cruel suitor, and Auren feels she is just being treated like a broodmare. Together, they decide to determine their own path, making for the royal keep to claim land of their own, away from meddling fathers. But the keep is not the sanctuary they expected. Fern meets Lance, a charming rider who stirs feelings she thought she’d never feel for anyone other than a hero in her books. Then just as she begins to find her footing, the skies darken with wings no one has seen in a thousand years. Three dragons, gleaming like minted silver. Their riders dismount with one purpose. To claim Fern and Auren. Thrust into a maelstrom of ancient bonds, alliances and audacious men, Fern’s fight for freedom may lead her straight into a destiny she never asked for… and men who insist she is theirs.
This is a dragon rider romantasy series set in the same world as The Dragon Queen, but you do not have to have read those books for this to make sense. The two prequels, Dragon Chosen and Dragon Discovered, do need to be read to enjoy this book.
