It is now time to meet Julian Leblanc, the bar owner, Sazerac specialist, and charming brother. With New Orleans as the backdrop and a large family for input, I had no problem staying engaged in the book. But Julien has met his match with feisty Georgie. Now tradition is big the quarter, and we are in Carnival season, Mardi Gras floats are to be perfect. Book’s and Bead’s shop is the goto maker of costumes for the occasion. After a delegation, Georgie has lost the contracts of the bigger families, starting with Julian.
From here, we get a spicy, flirty banter-filled with some drama, and story. As Julian tries to right his wrong, will he catch feelings for the spitfire Georgie? The Grandma’s already know.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫 is the 2nd book in the LeBlanc Brothers series by Layla Hagen, featuring a steamy, enemies to lovers, fake relationship, billionaire romance for Julian and Georgie. Her family’s business has been in charge of his company’s Mardi Gras float for decades, until he authorized a change without a second thought. Her business has been decimated, and she’s angry enough to confront a billionaire. Julian was not expecting a gorgeous woman to storm into his bar to read him the riot act. He’s determined to help her get her other clients back. Then, when her rude ex shows up throwing barbs her way, Julian swoops in as her fake boyfriend to save the day. They’re supposed to be pretending, but the sparks between them are oh so real. Can they build a lasting connection to go with all the passion?
I was so excited to be back in New Orleans with these characters, and Julian and Georgie’s story did not disappoint! The world building and imagery was again incredible, making me feel like I was experiencing the French Quarter myself. I loved their feisty banter in the beginning, followed by the way he shifts into a compassionate protector mode. He had me swooning so much with how sweet he was with her!😍 Then there was spicy Julian who brought the dirty talk and heat.🥵🔥 I enjoyed the way they confronted their emotions as well. I can say enough about the family and everything they add to the story! I still love the Grans and their quirky hobbies and meddling ways, and sweet little Bella who is so adorable! The epilogue was fantastic, and I cannot wait for Xander’s story!!
I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶🌶🌶
We at book two in the Leblanc Brothers series which means welcome back to New Orleans!!!
I could say a lot about this book but I’ll just keep it short and say I literally read 98% with a smile on my face, I truly did not want to put it down!! Layla as usually made me feel like I was in New Orleans getting ready for Mardi Gras!! I l just love the Leblanc brother so much and I really need to know where I can get some of that lilac perfume from… I need it bad lol!!!!!
Julian and Georgie were absolute perfection together, I loved how they both accepted each other for who they were and neither of them needed to change, because they were both exactly what each other needed! I loved how Julian realized his mistakes and did everything he could to help Georgie, and I’m glad Georgie didn’t let her past relationship with Kyle stop her from letting Julian in.
I loved seeing checking in with Chad, Scarlett and Bella.. I’m super excited to Xander book because let’s face it, we all love a grumpy billionaire!!!
DNF at 56&. Well that was a shame. I really liked the first book, but this one just felt forced. I tried multiple times to go back to it, but I gave up. - it is well written - the chemistry is just not there. Insta love, but not in a good way. - it is a repeat of the first book but with new people and new jobs - This whole 164 pages that I read could have been halved and nothing would have been lost
Georgie is such a spitfire and I love it. Julian most certainly is a charmer but he is also real and can be a gentleman. Love this family. They are so crazy and so funny. I love how the relationship went from fake to real. The story is sweet and sexy and packs plenty of feels.
Georgie, life has been extremely hectic for Georgie, with the fact that she might lose her business looming over her head. Georgie is the owner of Book & Beads, she makes masks, floats etc. for the Carnival/Parade season in New Orleans, but when one of their biggest clients dissolve their contract, other families follow and she is trying her best to get everything sorted out, but she's running out of option to save her business.
Julian, runs the bar business in the LeBlanc business. He doesn't have any regrets when it comes to business. Once he makes a decision he never goes back on it. So when he starts receiving emails from Georgie, he starts becoming annoyed believing her to be incredibly unprofessional. Until he realises that the decision to dissolve the contract with Georgie has led to other families doing the same, and he deeply regrets it.
This is the second book in the LeBlanc series, and it was amazing, I loved the connection and chemistry between the main characters from the get go. The development of their relationship was beautifully done and the spicy scenes 🥵
Loved Julian's protectiveness of Georgie especially when her ex tries to cause problems 🤍
Julian and Georgie. Cuties. But honestly. An entire chapter of her repeatedly puking, with a fever, and no memory of it and it never getting brought up again? A weird sickness. I’d rather she have been wasted and just had a hangover.
First things first…. The fact that this series is set in New Orleans makes me so happy. Julian started off being super rude to Georgie, and I will admit I waited on the edge of my seat for his grandmothers to find out. That didn’t disappoint at all. Julian runs the bar branches of the family business. Georgie owns a small shop that does most of her business during Mardi Gras season with masks and float decorations. When a mishap makes Julian cancel their contract Georgie refuses to let it go. I found myself smiling so much while reading this book. It was such a fun read!
Trigger Warnings include: situations that involve an egotistical ex who speaks down to the FMC
Any time I read one of Layla Hagen’s interconnected books involving close families it always feels like coming home. No matter which books I’ve read, or how long I’ve gone without one. I’m always excited to visit, and this one was no difference! I loved being back with the meddling grandmothers, and noisy brothers. This one drops us right in the middle of NOLA during Carnival season, which meant there was always something fun to experience and learn about! Julian Leblanc has done sweet Georgie wrong, and is all in making it up to her! The way he treated his employees and then making the wrong doing up to her made me love him instantly! I loved that Georgie never backed down, and knew what she deserved! Both personally and in business! Julian doesn’t hesitate to step in and do what he can to take care of her, protect her, support her. They were adorable, and so much fun to spend time with! Their open communication was refreshing! The moment their faking was no longer faked, it was voiced AND that continued throughout to make sure they remained on the same page. (Adult maturity?! Hallelujah!)

7/10 Dirty Birdy 5/10 Fake Relationship 6/10 Slow Burn 8/10 The CEO Type 7/10 Series
Georgie's family company has long done business with the Leblancs, but this year, because of mother nature, the Leblancs have dumped her, setting into motion a ripple effect of other companies dumping hers. How dare Julian Leblanc just dump her company without a single discussion with her?! So now she's determined to go confront the man. When things don't go exactly as expected, the two are left with a fake dating situation that Georgie's determined won't be anything but fake to save face in front of her disgusting ex, and to help her business.
Julian isn't used to having any of his decisions questioned, so why is he so attracted to this feisty woman who just called him out regarding their severed professional relationship? And why is he now offering to not just help her get her business back, but to spend time together in a fake dating arrangement? He hasn't ever been attracted to someone as much as he is to Georgie, but he isn't sure he's the man she wants and deserves. The kind who offers her forever.
I love the Leblancs! They're a large, loud, but loving family, and once they fold someone into their arms, they're with them permanently. Such is the case with Julian and Georgie. Thank God for the grandmas and the rest of the family, because if they hadn't talked sense into Julian, who knows what would have happened? The sassy, feisty Georgie is the perfect woman to take on the charming, but commitment-phobic Julian. She didn't put up with his bs, went toe to toe with him, and he realized just how much he loved that about her, how different it made her from all the other women he normally associated with. The spice is top notch and the ending is sweet and funny, and gives us a glimpse into which brother will fall in love next.

Layla Hagen has done it again! I absolutely LOVED The Charmer! It is the second book in her The LeBlanc Brothers series. I loved every moment on every page of The Charmer it was impossible to put down. The Charmer was one of the most enjoyable books that I have read recently. Layla Hagen definitely did not disappoint her readers with The Charmer and has once again delivered an incredible story filled with everything that I love in sizzling romance stories. Who does not love hot sexy men, who make you swoon, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another, and wonderful characters? I loved meeting the LeBlanc siblings. The Charmer is the opposites attract - fake dating love story of Julian LeBlanc, who runs the bars under The Orleans Conglomerate and Georgie, owner of Books and Beads. The Orleans Conglomerate compasses a multitude of establishments in New Orleans. Books and Beads sells books, beads, and everything anyone could want for Carnival. Since Julian would not discuss Books and Beads contract with the LeBlancs to provide costumes for their Mardi Gras parade floats, Georgie showed up at one of his bars to admonish him for cancelling their contract because of the flooding in their warehouse without talking to her first. She then explained that this caused some of her other clients to cancel their contracts as well, following the example of the LeBlancs. While she is talking to Julian, her former boyfriend, Kyle Deveraux, shows up at Julian’s bar. Julian ends up kissing Georgie to get Kyle off her back. Julian feels responsible for Georgie losing so many contracts, he offers to be a fake couple and take her to Mardi Gras parties in hopes of getting some of her clients back. Julian is immediately smitten with Georgie when they meet, but he is not interested in a relationship. Georgie knows that she is a girl from the opposite side of the tracks and that Julian was not one for relationships but agrees to pretend to be a couple for the sake of her business. I love the dress that Georgie wears to the first party and Julian’s reaction to her. I also love the mask that Julian has delivered to Georgie for the masquerade ball. I love all the little things that Julian does for Georgie, even though he tells himself he is not interested in a relationship. I love where he takes her to watch the float parade. Things heat up between Georgie and Julian as they spend time together going to parties, helping her avoid Kyle, and with Julian delivering food, coffee, King cakes, pralines, and beignets to her. With hard work, creating Mardi Gras masks Georgie is able to sustain her business, despite all the revenue lost on the parade costumes. I love Georgie’s relationship with Julian’s grandmother Isabeau Broussard and Celine LeBlanc. They were the first clients of Georgie’s last grandmother, the original owners of Books and Beads. I love everything that they shared with Georgie about her grandmother. I also love that Isabeau and Celine create a fragrance just for Georgie that they ask Julian to deliver. Conversation between Georgie and Julian flows so easily, with innuendos and playful banter, and Julian constantly flirting and dirty talking to Georgie. I love Georgie and Julian’s love story, and how a plot twist changes things for Julian and Georgie’s relationship. I love the request that Julian makes to Isabeau and Celine. I love the changes that Julian and Georgie make in their lives to have a life with one another. I love how Layla Hagen always manages to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy men. One of my favorite parts of her books is how she incorporates the picture on the cover of the book into the love story. I am not sure how she does it, but Layla Hagen has once again given her readers another amazing book. She has once again proven that she is an amazing storyteller and continues to be one of my favorite authors to read. I really enjoy how she writes her stories in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love knowing what the main characters are thinking and feeling. The Charmer is filled with all those elements that I have come to love and expect in a Layla Hagen love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Layla Hagen creates such wonderful and memorable characters and has once again done this in The Charmer. I love Georgie and Julian’s story and the descriptions of the New Orleans settings, especially during Mardi Gras. I love the characters and the family dynamic in The Charmer, the characters feel like family and friends. I enjoy all the interactions among the LeBlanc siblings, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. I loved catching up with Scarlett, Chad, and Bella. I love Isabeau and Celine and the fragrance that they created for Georgie which included their secret additive, lilac and how Georgie loved the fragrance. I also love the that Bella asked the grandmothers when she will get her lilac fragrance. I loved the bittersweet and poignant moments, as well as the unexpected plot twists, that I have come to love and expect in a Layla Hagen love story. The Charmer was a wonderful love story. My favorite part of the story is Julian’s proposal to Georgie, and the location of his proposal. I love how the epilogue hints as to what happens next for the LeBlancs. I highly recommend this sizzling romance. I love this new series starter and cannot wait to read more books about the other LeBlanc brothers. Highly recommend this incredible love story. Received an advanced copy from the author.
Unfortunately, I didn’t find The Charmer Julian LeBlanc the male protagonist in this story all that charming. He was okay. Of course, by the end of this book he had totally redeemed himself into a swoon worthy book boyfriend as all contemporary romance male protagonist should. But at the start he appeared to me to be exactly what Georgie, the story’s female protagonist told him her first impressions of him were, “an arrogant asshole.” And too many times between then and his culmination as a true swoon worthy male protagonist he demonstrated those all too often negative traits romance authors tend to ascribe to we males. In other words he was clueless as how his words and actions affected Georgie. Okay, I confess to having been guilty of that a time or two myself, which my wife deservedly took me to task for. But I’ve never been as oblivious as to how my words or actions affected my partner like Julian was, and I don’t think the majority of we males are. And of course, like many male protagonists Julian had to be practically struck by lightening before he realized he was in love with Georgie. Well at least once he did, he didn’t spend what little of was left of the story waiting to tell her. Point for Julian. I loved the Georgie character, as I do the majority of C.R. female protagonist. She was not only beautiful, but smart, hardworking, caring, tender hearted and sexually uninhibited. I could go on and on about why Georgie shouldn't have been so willing to get physically intimate with Julian before she had any idea what his true feelings for and intentions towards her were. Before she was even sure they were a couple or in a relationship. Which caused her some moments of doubt and heartache. But I guess that’s par for the course in today’s contemporary romances where casual, no strings sex is the norm. But I won’t. I’ll just say that For the most part I found this story entertaining if not a page turner (for me). Julian carelessly allows his assistant to cancel the long standing contract his family has with Georgie’s company to build their Madre Gras float. Something her family had been doing for three generations. Turns out Julian’s grandmothers and Georgie’s late grandmother were extremely close. This causes Georgie to lose a considerable bit of business not only from the loss of the LeBlanc business but then several other companies followed their lead. Worse, when Georgie tries to contact Julian directly to plead her case he keeps blowing her off, referring her to his assistant and team of attorneys. Eventually Georgie finally corners Julian in one of his bars. He tries to brush her off but he’s so attracted to her that he can’t. He listens to her story and to his credit feels guilty for the harm he has callously caused her business. He suggests she accompany him to several of the holiday parties he’s been invited to attend telling her many of the other customers she’s lost will also be there and he will help her to win their business back. This is partially because he really does feel guilty about his role in harming her business but equally because he is drawn to Georgie and wants to spend more time with her. As it turns out Georgie’s ex is Kyle Deveraux who is a Class A asshole whom after six months of dating broke up with her in the most cowardly, cruel way. Kyle is well known to Julian (for the arrogant ass he is) and is competing with him to purchase a couple of buildings from Robert, someone they know in common. When Kyle verbally accosts Georgie at the first party they attend Julian announces they’re a couple and gives her a passionate kiss in front of New Orlean's elite gathered there to prove his point and piss Kyle off. And of course, because he really, really wanted to kiss Georgie. After that kiss even though it takes most of the rest of the story for him to catch up, Julian’s fate is sealed. All the LeBlanc family makes appearances in this book I love their scheming grandmothers and their wise mom, who are all important secondary characters in this story. The brothers less so, but they’re all in there. Even their grandfathers and father who don't really seem to have much to do or a real role in this series. But for some reason Scarlett the female protagonist from the first book in this series get mentioned a few times but never makes an actual appearance until the epilogue. Which disappointed me not only because I enjoyed her character but because I really enjoy it when authors continue to include the protagonists from their previous books in a series in their current books. Ultimately, I found this book just okay. I liked it but I didn’t love it.
The Charmer by Layla Hagen is the second book in her Leblanc Brothers series. This time we have Julian, the oldest of the six brothers and Georgie, a business owner disgruntled with him. This is an enemies to lovers, fake relationship story where he fall first and becomes very protective over her. They are from two very different worlds but when things start to feel very real between them, will they give into their feelings? Expect lots of family interference and brotherly teasing as this couple unexpectedly fall in love.
Julian runs the bars owned by his family’s company. He is a very private man and fiercely protects his family’s legacy and interests. He’s a billionaire CEO, a real flirt with the ladies and impulsive, which often gets him in trouble. He loves living and working in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
Georgie runs Books & Beads, which has been in her family for two generations. They have a reputation for providing the best beads, costumes and decorations for the carnival season. She has been recovering after a recent flood at her warehouse but some long-time customers dropped her. She is furious at Julian Leblanc who cancelled and passed her over to his lawyers, without having the respect to deal with her himself.
Georgie demands a face to face to talk over his decision but Julian thinks she’s unprofessional and a disgruntled business owner. To try and resolve things she visits one of his bar to confront him but doesn’t expect him to be so good-looking and hot. When she ambushes him, he is surprised she makes him feel guilty over his decision and it doesn’t help that he is attracted to her. Julian is determined to rectify matters especially as it gives him the excuse to see her again. When her ex boyfriend causes problems, Julian feels protective and suggests they pretend to be dating.
A kiss sparks the chemistry between them and suddenly the fake relationship turns into so much more. It was so amusing how much Julian acts out of character, does things he’s never done before and is out of his depth at times. I loved how Georgie embraces carnival season, celebrates life and her family legacy. Julian is taken by how she loves the city, its history and traditions. Pretending becomes harder for Georgie as the feelings grow. He is so kind and thoughtful towards her but is it all for show?
The author really brings the vibes of New Orleans to life. Her descriptions of the carnival parades, the food and drink, the streets and sights of NOLA makes you feel like you are there. It was lovely catching up with all the Leblanc family especially the grandmothers!! Can’t wait to see what they are planning for Xander, the grump of the family.
This is the second story in The Leblanc Brothers series. It is the story of Julian and Georgie. It’s a bit of an enemy to more, fake relationship trope story. This was a really good read. I loved the beginning and the back and forth irritation between the main characters. This story had it all – he falls first, banter, emotion, chemistry, family meddling grandmothers and even a bad guy – and is not to be missed!
I loved Georgie’s tenacity. She is a small business owner trying to make it in New Orleans where business is all about who you know and how much clout you have. She has held onto the business that her grandmother started but times are tough and one little slip has her almost losing everything. She is an incredibly hard worker, loyal, stubborn and full of joy. She takes Julian to the mat for his easy dismissal that will ruin her business.
Julian is a focused and extremely busy businessman. He is very successful and runs his business by trusting good people to do their jobs. One of these people decides that he should no longer do business with Georgie as it’s too risky and once he breaks ties with her, many other influential families follow suit – thus causing potential ruin for Georgie. Julian is not used to being called out for his decisions nor is he used to dealing with someone with as much tenacity as Georgie has.
Julian is attracted to her but business is business. He believes that he can easily smooth things over with her but isn’t going to knock himself out to do so. His grandmothers explain how the two companies began their business arrangement and expected him to salvage the relationship. While he helps her win her customers back he begins to fall for her and decides that entering into a fake relationship will put off her ex and give him more time with her.
With the background of carnival, restaurants, bars, music and the New Orleans atmosphere, the two truly become closer and then begin to fall for one another. It’s almost as if the New Orleans/Carnival atmosphere is a character too. I’m loving reading about this city!
With the grandmothers up to no good and the brothers up to their usual shenanigans, the story is a very fun read. I love that no matter what, the family is there for each other but those laughs are so fun! I can’t wait to see who falls next and how the grandmothers insert themselves into things!
I was so ecstatic this next story came out. This is another series I have really enjoyed reading and this one didn’t disappoint. I forgot how Julian was in the first book and I couldn’t remember if he was laid back and easy going or if he was one of those men that needs to have things done his way or the highway. I also couldn’t remember if he was serious or the type of man that is disgruntled about life and love. Thankfully, he reminds us of the way he is and then it all came back to me. Sure enough what I loved about Julian is his ability to admit when he is wrong or makes a mistake. On top of that, what you see is what you get with him. He’s honest and will say things like they are but sometimes can be misconstrued as meaning something else. When Georgie first deals with Julian, it was over her store and why Julian’s company all of a sudden dropped them from his partnership. What follows is Georgie’s persistence and ability to not give up and get to the bottom of what the reason is. When she finally decides to take matters into her hands and track him down she is greeted with push back at first but then he was still attracted to her though he didn’t hint at it to her. In fact, he tried to tone himself down and avoid flirting like he normally does but soon that proved to be pointless and he became obvious with her about his feelings. What follows is lots of flirtatious, steamy and swoon worthy moments between the two of them and you can’t help but get drawn into their banter, chemistry and innuendo. It was really cute and I giggled and smiled a lot throughout the story. It was a feel good book that focuses on the now and just enjoying the person you are with and not thinking about the future. There was some references but ultimately what I enjoyed about this book is how open and honest Julian and Georgie were with each other. Whenever something was wrong, Julian would ask Georgie about it and not push it under the rug like most stories would do. Then there was also how easygoing both of them were which made for easy reading and less drama. It was lighthearted and a fun read. I’m looking forward to Xander’s story as I always love when the woman turns a grump into an affectionate and lovesick man.
The Charmer Leblanc brothers #2 Layla Hagen ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book 2 in this series, it’s always scary to start a new series, but I do love this Leblanc family. They’re big, loud, in each others faces, in each other lives, funny, sweet and sexy! The charmer finds, another brother finds his forever. Set in New Orleans, I loved the carnival season, I could imagine the brights lights, that amazing music, the food and the people. Owner of books and beads, Georgie is down in her luck, she’s been dumped by a man she thought she loved, and now due to circumstances beyond her control her business is declining that is to the mass cancellations of her decoration for the carnival floats! But one man is really boiling her anger. Mr Julian Leblanc, the man couldn’t even be bothered contacting her about his cancellation. Now she’s going to confront him head on…. It’s not quite the meeting she expected. While working at one of his bars, Julian didn’t expect the woman who has been blowing up his phone and emails to see him face to face at his bar, and he never expected to kiss her in front of her evil ex boyfriend. Yeah, that “simple” kiss changes everything in the span of just minutes. To make their lie more real, Julian requests Georgie be her fake girlfriend and attend some influential parties. Their fake love turns quickly to real feelings. Georgie made herself a promise she wouldn’t lose herself to another high-powered man. Buuuut, love makes its own rules, the heart just follows! When put to the ultimate test, their relationship is left questionable, poor Georgie is left reeling, while clueless Julian lives in denial land. Never fear the Leblanc / Broussard grandmothers, are on it, as their secret weapon in a bottle changes everything. Julian’s going to need to pull out the big guns to win a broken Georgie back. She was already broken by a man now she’s left guessing again…. He doesn’t just pull the big guns, he used the whole army, and by that, I mean his big, beautiful family. #julian&georgie for the win 🏆

The Charmer by Layla Hagen is book 2 of The Leblanc series. This series is set in New Orleans and each book features a different LeBlanc man. Although, each is a standalone, some small characters can overlap. This is Julian and Georgie’s story.
The FMC, Georgie, is the owner of a store called Books and Beads. Georgie has hit a rough patch, and now due to things that are beyond her control the business is failing and she may have no business left. But one businessman makes her so angry she decides she needs a face to face conversation…. Julian Leblanc.
The MMC, Julian Leblanc really fits the title for this book… he could charm the pants off anyone. Julian didn't expect the day he’s working at one of his bars due to being short staffed, he would come face to face with the woman who kept emailing him over and over about their contract , and he never expected to kiss her in front of her jerk ex boyfriend, that was just a bonus. This kiss changed everything… for both of them.
Julian decides he’s going to help Georgie get her business back afloat . Julian telks Georgie to be his fake girlfriend and together they will go to the hit events of carnival season and he will make introductions so she can get clients back.
Julian and Georgie had chemistry right from the start. They became real and were no longer pretending. As a couple they balanced each other out , even though they were from different backgrounds and worlds. You can see how much they wanted and cared for each other, the banter and spice was great. The added bonus was the rest of the Leblanc family.
Ive really enjoyed this series and can’t wait for book 3
Oh, I’m definitely charmed by the Julian and the LeBlanc brothers. “The Charmer” is a romantic, steamy and charming fake relationship set in New Orleans that was a great addition to the series.
Julian LeBlanc, like his brothers, is a businessman who will always do what is best for the business and the family. That includes cutting a contract with a vendor his grandparents have been using for years. Georgie is now the business owner of the supplier Julian cut during her busiest time of the year, Mardi Gras. Georgie is a savvy businesswoman who is on a mission to win back the clients she lost because of Julian. He offers to be her fake boyfriend to take her to events so she can win her clients back. But as the two spend time together, the fake relationship starts to turn real.
The book is named properly because Julian LeBlanc is definitely a charmer. He’s focused on his bars to make them the best he can but he’s also human underneath and can admit when he’s wrong. He not only puts his money where his mouth is but takes accountability for his actions which was my favorite thing about him. I loved Georgie from the beginning and how she was invested in her business as well. They had that connection from the start and I feel like that is what the starting point for their relationship to begin. She’s smart, strong and determined. Julian and Georgie had wonderful and flirty banter which I loved reading as their feelings developed for each other. The steamy times were steamy and showed the delicious chemistry that they had. Both grew so much as people in this book and I loved reading about their HEA.
The Charmer definitely lives up to its title. As this is a story full of charm and delightful characters. As Layla Hagen returns us to New Orleans and the Leblanc family for eldest son Julian's story.
Julian, who is hot, decisive and not one who likes to have his decisions questioned.
Which is exactly what Georgie owner of Books and Beads does. When disaster strikes and a flood damages, her stock. Which means she's not certain she's able to fulfil the contract for the Leblanc float at carnival. So, Julian demands his assistant find a solution and she does by cancelling Georgie's contract and when all of Georgie's other big clients hear the news they follow suit.
But Georgie is determined to change that and so confronts Julian at his bar and Julian is intrigued to say the least. Especially when she goes from feisty and fierce to frightened when a rival business owner and Georgie's ex shows his face and starts to mentally abuse her.
And so Julian comes up with a plan that sees Georgie pretend to be his girlfriend in order to attend all the big carnival events and potentially win back her clients.
But what starts out as fake soon becomes real as the pair can't get enough of each other. Especially after Julian's grandmothers gift Georgie a bottle of lilac perfume.
And with little angst, really likable characters, plenty of spice and a little sweetness. This was a really enjoyable read, and I am totally enamored by the Leblanc's and NOLA and can't wait to return for Xander's story.
I would happily recommend The Charmer to all.
My thanks to Layla Hagen and Wildfire Marketing for the opportunity to read an early copy of The Charmer. ☺️
It started out as a deal gone wrong when Julian allowed his assistants to cut ties with Books and Beads, the company that made his family’s Mardi Gras float each year. When the owner, Georgie, refuses to accept the loss without a face to face meeting, she tracks Julian down and the sparks immediately begin to fly.
It becomes a fake relationship. Feeling guilty Julian decides he will help Georgie by introducing her to his contacts that pulled their business from her company because he did. He also finds himself wanting to play the hero when her ex starts causing issues.
And then it doesn't feel so fake, because both Julian and Georgie find they are really enjoying spending time together. Neither wanted a relationship, but what’s happening between them seems so natural. But, are they on the same page or is this just a part of the ruse?
This book was really just a lot of fun! Julian really is a natural charmer and flirt. He truly can’t help himself . . . and, when it comes to Georgie, he really doesn’t want to! I also adored Georgie. She has a real zest for life and tradition. She believes in living in and enjoying every moment that comes her way, and Julian can’t help but be swept up by her enthusiasm and genuine appreciation of all things. This romance was kind of a slow burn as they fell until it wasn't, and it was glorious! I also loved that it was set during Mardi Gras because the author had me feeling like I was on Bourbon Street experiencing everything New Orleans!
Fun and sexy read with lots of romance and just a few crossed communication wires takes this enemies to lovers from a fake relationship to the real deal! 5 stars
The Charmer: A Fake Relationship Romance (The Leblanc Brothers) by Layla Hagan is a delightful romance with drama and spicey heat sprinkled throughout! The Lucky Spot‘s charming bar owner, Julian La Blanc, encounters feisty Books and Bead's small shop owner, Georgie, who lost her float decoration contracts due to him delegating duties to those under his employ. Georgie confronts Julian, who intended to ignore her until her ex-boyfriend showed up, giving her grief when he stepped in to rescue her with a kiss as he declared that he and Georgie were involved. As Julian wants to make amends, he invites Georgie to exclusive Mari Gras events where she may encounter former clients in hopes of winning back accounts that she lost when her warehouse flooded. As Julian spends time with Georgie, he begins to fall for Georgie and finds his life is changing, but he’s still dealing with internal struggles. Georgie is a sensual woman who knows what she wants, and she wants Julian, but only if he wants to have a future. Will Mr. Charming give in to forever love, or will he allow Georgie to fall out of his life? Can Georgie survive another broken heart? I fell in love with the characters in this interconnected stand-alone book in the Leblanc Brother New Orleans romance series. Layla Hagan knows how to hook her readers and keep them riveted until the last page is turned at the end. A must-read worth more than 5- stars.
I recently finished The Charmer, and I must say, it was a delightful read that kept me entertained from start to finish. The story centers around Julian Leblanc, a character who truly lives up to his name. His charm is undeniable, and I found myself drawn into his world almost immediately.
The chemistry between Julian and his love interest is electric. Their banter is witty and engaging, making their interactions a joy to read. I loved how Hagen balanced humor and emotional depth, allowing me to connect with the characters on a personal level. The vibrant setting of New Orleans added an enchanting layer to the story, making me feel as if I were right there with them, experiencing the magic of the city.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the book, I did find a few plot points to be somewhat predictable. This slight predictability didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment, but it was noticeable at times. Hagen’s writing style is fluid and engaging, which made it easy for me to immerse myself in the story.
In conclusion, The Charmer is a charming romance that I would recommend to anyone looking for a lighthearted and entertaining read. With its well-developed characters and delightful dialogue, I’m giving it a solid four stars. It’s definitely worth picking up if you’re a fan of contemporary romance!
What an amazing fast read story. I loved that this story was set in New Orleans and loved the enemies -to-lovers beginning even if it took a while to get to the lovers part. The slow burn and seduction, entertaining. Georgie's sass, truly appreciated. Julian's protective mode, swoon worthy. This story has some high heat and I enjoyed all of the family interactions. Truly an outstanding read. ~Cindy
"It seems that I missed the first book in this series, so I can definitely say that book two does read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed everything about Julian and Georgie’s story. It started off with a bit of an enemies to lovers vibe, but that didn’t last long because what they were arguing over was somewhat resolved early on. It also didn’t hurt that both were extremely attracted to one another. Their relationship had a few twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting, but to me it just brought them closer together, except when Julian put his foot in his mouth or just basically missed some cues. But whenever this happened it was over fairly quickly which was refreshing to read. There are some awesome supporting characters that add to make this book so great - especially the two grandmothers. They are an absolute hoot and I loved it each time they popped up in the story and meddled away. I will definitely be waiting excitedly for the next book to be released." ~Sharon
Julian is in charge of the Bars that are part of The Orleans Conglomerate, the company ran by him and his five brothers. Julian is the oldest of the LeBlanc brothers. When his team tells him that the supplier for the Carnival float for their business won’t be able to make the deadline due to flooding in their warehouse he tells them to handle it and they cancel the contract. Georgie is the owner of Books & Beads, and supplies business floats for Carnival. When Julian’s company cancels its contract with her company several others follow suit, leaving her with no customers and a lot of inventory. Georgie decides to confront Julian in person and see if she can get him to change his mind. She goes to his bar and meets him as they are talking Georgie’s ex shows up and starts putting her down. Julian doesn’t like how he’s talking to Georgie and the next thing he’s kissing her to get rid of the ex. Now Julian is her fake boyfriend but will feelings turn real as time passes and as Julian helps her try to get back her customers. This is a very good, fast reading book. I really liked both Julian and Georgie. Georgie became stronger and more self assured as the book progressed. Julian was caring and supportive. I would definitely read more books by this author and this series.
Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.
Julian LeBlanc is the CEO of the bar business of the Orleans Conglomerate. Recently he had some problems with stuff for carnival float because of a flood. His assistant changed the company for decorations and the business owner of the previous one was harassing him over the email. One evening she came into a bar. He was instantly attracted to Georgie. She said a piece of her mind and left. The next day Julian came to her shop and he reinstated their contract for next year. Then he invited her for a free Sazerac on the first day of parade.
She came and they started talking. She saw her ex, Kyle and was upset. Julian left her for a few minutes and Kyle came to talk to her, he was sprouting nonsense so Julian came up and kissed her, pretending to be together. They spend a great couple of hours after that. Then Julian came up with a plan. To take Georgie to a few events to try to reinstate contracts with people she lost because of the flood. They still kept pretending they were together. But soon they were not pretending anymore. I loved their chemistry and passion. They were made for each other.
Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a fake relationship, billionaire romance then you’re going to love it.
I loved this book!! I’m a huge fan of this family.. and Julian and Georgie’s story is one I very much enjoyed. Georgie’s business is in trouble, and it;s Julian’s fault, kinda. When her warehouse flooded, Julian’s staff cancels their contract with her to be sure they get their Carnival float decorations. Once he cancels, others do the same and her business is in trouble.
Julian runs the bar arm of the family businesses, and that’s pretty much his whole life. He’s never had time for a relationship. It’s just not in the cards for him. Or is it? From the minute Georgie confronts him at his bar, he’s intrigued by her. When he finds out her business is in trouble, because of him, he wants to help her… so he works on doing just that.
This is a fantastic book. Julian and his family are such amazing people and they love such a unique dynamic in how they live and love and work together. All the boys have had an aversion to relationships, until they meet the one. Maybe Georgie is his one?? I’m not telling you. But I’m promising you that it’s well worth the read. You will love this book. I mean, it’s Layla Hagen, so.. You’ve read her, you know!!
Another wonderful Layla Hagen book.. well written, full of such love and family support. One of her best.
Absolutely loved New Orelans as the backdrop for the story. It's a place I've always wanted to visit and Layla Hagen has now made me want to move it up my bucket list of travel destinations.
Ok, now for the story...
Georgie finds herself in a tough spot trying to keep her business afloat after Julian dissolves his contract with her company and other families follow suit.
Their relationship begins with his annoyance at her unprofessional emails, and her storming into his bar like the spitfire she is, and turns into a fake relationship.
Once they start opening up to each other, they can't fight the attraction for long and realize they are meant to be more. They had instant chemistry and there was no way they could walk away from the connection they were building. Fake becomes real and the sparks are flying.
The Leblanc family was so fun! Julian and his protectiveness over Georgie was absolutely swoon worthy. We love a man that stands up for his woman in public but lets that dirty talk fly in the bedroom.
I really enjoyed getting to know this couple and see their relationship blossom. I'm already looking forward to returning to New Orleans with Layla Hagen very soon!
Let me start by saying that the title to this book was on point. Julian was a charmer from the very beginning, but not the player type of charm. Georgie never stood a chance against the irresistible Julian, even though it started as fake I think they didn’t do a good job at pretending which makes this story love at first sight in a non traditional way. One thing I love about Layla’s work is how she manages to always have family values and the importance of being there for your family a big part of her books, and the amazing ability she has to make the reader so engaged in the reading that she makes us want to learn more about the place, the food and be somewhat part of the story. I need a trip to New Orleans now thanks to her. I liked this story in particular because it also touched at a very real subject and is the power some men have in making women feel small and insignificant, no matter how strong we are words are very powerful. But I’m glad that Julian was able to help Georgie be confident in herself again. Can’t wait for the next Leblanc to bite the dust with some Lilac mix in there.
