Metaphor is one of the most powerful tools in coaching, mentoring, supervision, and psychotherapy. Leonid Krol's unique approach integrates metaphor into the coaching process, enabling it to reach its maximum potential. In this method, it's not just about a single metaphor but a whole system of metaphors. These aren’t just storytelling tools; they help uncover the client’s inner world and personal experiences. This book explores how metaphor works in real-life sessions. Alongside practical examples, it also offers a brief history of metaphor use, especially focusing on Milton Erickson and those who built on his work. Leonid “You’re brave. I’m brave. Let’s go forward together!”
In the wake of the Soviet Union’s collapse, Leonid Krol was one of the first to build, shape and develop Russia’s market for psychological services, coaching and business training. He bridged the gap between post-Soviet professionals and cutting-edge Western practices by founding a publishing house to translate pioneering works, such as those of Irvin Yalom, into Russian for the first time. He also organised transformative conferences and established the Institute of Group and Family Psychotherapy in Moscow, where young Russian professionals could master modern psychotherapy.
His fascination with the power of metaphor began during his studies in hypnosis. Having started his medical career as a neurologist, he championed modern hypnotherapy techniques. When he became a coach and business trainer, the strategic use of metaphors emerged as one of his signature methods and a hallmark of his unique style. He now teaches this method to new generations of professionals.
Today, Leonid Krol is the author of 27 books and over 200 articles on negotiation, career advancement and business growth strategies. His clients include politicians, business owners, top executives, artists, TV personalities, athletes and other high-profile individuals. He is also a Candidate of Medical Sciences (PhD equivalent) and a professor at the Higher School of Economics (Moscow, National Research University HSE, Department of Psychoanalysis and Business Consulting). He is also the founder of the Incantico group training project in Italy's Umbria region. He runs an exclusive private business club and leads a series of elite training and development programs.
