This is the third book in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. It centers around Enzo and Penelope, who find themselves in an arranged marriage. Penelope is the oldest child of Luca DiMauro, the head of the Italian mafia, and her parents have arranged a marriage with Enzo Marchetti, the heir to the Marchetti empire.
Penelope is mature for her age and loves her family, especially her youngest sister, Amara. Although she feels pressure to go through with the marriage, to avoid burdening her loved ones, she’s still doing it. On the other hand, Enzo is all in—he's determined to make Penelope his wife. Enzo is cold, calculated, and ruthless. He doesn't have a weakness until Penelope. When someone threatened her well-being, he would do anything to keep her safe.
The chemistry between Penelope and Enzo is incredible from the get-go! I loved seeing Enzo's quiet obsession with her; he’s been watching over her from afar for years. At first, Penelope resented him, but as she got to know him, she started to uncover the loving and loyal side of him that lies beneath his tough exterior. Enzo has faced some tough times in his childhood and believes he doesn’t deserve love, but Penelope changes that for him.
This book is packed with emotion, and I found myself tearing up a few times! The emphasis on family shines through in his book. It brings such heartwarming moments, especially those involving Enzo, Penelope, and Amara. Enzo and Amara's bond is pure and sweet, but it's also heartbreaking. Watching Enzo bond with Penelope's siblings was so lovely. There were some intense moments when secrets and betrayal came to light, but the ending left me satisfied, and the epilogues were just the sweetest touch. This book is the perfect mix of the gritty mafia world, heartfelt family dynamics, and a passionate romance story.

WHERE DO I START.
First of all, I’m still bawling my eyes out. The epilogue was so bittersweet and now I have to read all of the Eva-verse how could I not??? The plot twist, the storyline, the characters, everything was phenomenal.
Enzo was CRAZY. A stalker, hot-as-hell Italian who called her mia anima. That man was obsessed for three years, and get this he was celibate that whole time just because he glanced at her.
“I can’t breathe when you’re not with me, mia anima.”
The way Penelope made him beg when she found out about something he did had me giggling so hard. This girl knew exactly how to make him whipped and wrap him around her finger.

I don’t even know where to start to explain the rollercoaster this book put me through. So I’ll begin with what matters most: a huge thank you to Candi Cane PR for giving me the chance to read it, and to our amazing author, Eva Winners, for breaking me and putting me back together with her words.
This book was bittersweet—at some point, the romance almost doesn’t matter anymore, because the rest of the plot completely takes over and consumes you. Enzo and Penelope’s story is beautiful, though it begins in a very questionable way. Enzo is stalker-ish, obsessive, controlling. Penelope is tough as hell, to the point of risking her own life. And yet, somehow, he earns the most important thing: her love.
Enzo (33) carries the weight of being the oldest Marchetti son, responsible for both the legal and illegal businesses. For years, he stayed in the shadows, protecting Penelope without her even knowing. But when the moment comes, there’s no way around it: he has to marry her and protect her, while still haunted by the ghosts of his past and his mother’s choices.
Penelope (21), on the other hand, is incredibly mature for her age. While other girls her age are all about parties, men, and fun, her world revolves around one thing: her sister, Amara. But when Enzo appears, declaring they’re getting married, chaos takes over her life.
Overall, this book is beautiful—but it hurts. It hurts so much. I think this is Eva Winners’ most emotional book yet. I have never cried this hard with one of her stories until last night.
And I have to add this: Enzo made one of the most beautiful acts of love I’ve ever read in Eva’s books. A gesture so powerful it sets the example for Armani and Damiano.

I loved this book, I feel like the storyline was different than the typical mafia romance in the sense that the main topic was the FMCs sister being deathly ill and the consequences from that but nonetheless I loved it.

August 29, 2025I just started the book, and the prologue scene is of the FMC wanting to loose her virginity to anyone other than the MMC but guess what, the stranger she looses her virginity to is the MMC *shocker* who is obsessed with her from the first time he saw her when she was 18 and didn't pursue her because she was young and has been sabotaging all her dates since then.
what I didn't like the most was how the MMC wanted to claim her innocence. Like seriously, you are 33 years old and have reputation of being a manwhore. EWW BROTHER.

“Enzo” is the story of Penelope and Enzo.
We know from the belles and mobster series about the arranged marriage between this couple, and have briefly met these characters in the previous books.
The story begins as a long standing arranged marriage with an obsessed, stalker hero and a reluctant spitfire heroine. She does eveything in her will to push the hero away; even a one night stand with a wild stranger, not knowing it is all the plan of the man who loves her. The marriage takes place, secrets are revealed early on and we see the hero work hard to earn the heroine’s love and trust.
The author then punches you in the gut with the extremely heavy second half of the story, that deals with the heroine’s terminally ill sister, and the family’s fight with her disease. I know we don’t shy away from grief in these books- but when the expected tragedy happens I bawled and the rest of the book was a heartbreaking, bittersweet read with a sad undertone. Also hits you harder if you have read the parents’ book recently and know the struggles they went through (which I had just finished yesterday). Grief stricken.
I loved the hero, I adored the heroine. He was smitten, strong and madly adored the heroine. She came to love him, and then fought with him. There’s loads of violence and mayhem, along with angst in this read so keep the tissues. The art is lovely.
One of my favorites now.

This one gives us the crazy, unhinged Enzo paired with a total baddie, Penelope. Their story was everything I expected from a Marchetti man. The first 60% had me smiling, hopeful, and fully invested, but those last few chapters? They tore my heart out.❤️🩹
I won’t spoil too much because you really need to experience it yourself, but I will say this, check the trigger warnings before diving in.
This book delivers a bittersweet ending that left me in tears, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll be crying right along with it.🥹

the story of Enzo who's been obsessed with Penelope for 3 years, stalking her and all that, when she is 21 she is forced into an arranged marriage with him but she doesn't want to because she " hates him", her only consolation is that she is no longer a virgin since he is known for his manwhore ways and he repulses her.
30/40% in he tells her that he hasn't been with a woman in 3 years aka for the duration of his obsession with her.
“I already told you, I intend on being faithful. There hasn’t been another woman for the past three years.” Because I was too busy stalking you, I added silently, deciding it prudent not to state aloud.
“You haven’t had sex in three years?” she balked, spinning around to face me.
50/60% in she confronts him about his "reputation " and clarifies that his brother uses his name whenever he fucks around.
“By the way, did you know that you have a reputation as a Casanova?” I rattled on, “I might have even heard the word ‘manwhore’ once or twice.”
He chuckled. “I didn’t think you paid attention to rumors.”
“I don’t.”
“But it must bother you if you’re bringing it up.”
I turned to my side, facing him. He mirrored my position. “I don’t want a manwhore for a husband.”

This one is insta-obsession from the H. He sees the h when she’s 18 and stalks her for 3 years. During this time, he does not have relations with OW. So, he’s a reformed manwhore due to his all consuming obsession.
I struggled to find a connection between the MCs. It’s as if the author was trying to add the “he falls first” trope without any reasoning. He sees her and that’s all.
One thing I enjoyed was the drawings of them lol it’s silly but different 🤷🏻♀️

Enzo is the 3rd book in the Legacy of Heathens series. It follows the second generation of Eva Winner's other series, but this is my first series by her so you can definitely read this as a standalone. I was surprised by the emotional parts of this mafia romance.
This is an arranged marriage between Enzo (son of the Marchetti mafia) and Penelope (daughter of the DiMauro mafia). Penelope wants nothing to do with this marriage, and she decides to lose her virginity to a stranger at a club. Little did she know the stranger was actually her future husband who has been watching over her for years. He has been obsessed with her, stalking her, and getting rid of any men who wanted to date her.

Enzo is the 3rd book in the Legacy of Heathens series. It follows the second generation of Eva Winner's other series, but this is my first series by her so you can definitely read this as a standalone. I was surprised by the emotional parts of this mafia romance.
This is an arranged marriage between Enzo (son of the Marchetti mafia) and Penelope (daughter of the DiMauro mafia). Penelope wants nothing to do with this marriage, and she decides to lose her virginity to a stranger at a club. Little did she know the stranger was actually her future husband who has been watching over her for years. He has been obsessed with her, stalking her, and getting rid of any men who wanted to date her.

No se ni cómo comenzar esta reseña, o bueno mi opinión sobre el libro.
Definitivamente se va al lugar 1 de esta segunda generación. Puedo decir que Enzo es mi hombre favorito en esta serie. (Porque aclaro que nadie le gana a mi Sasha de Belles & Mobsters de esta autora🧎♀️)
Me encantó que me regresó a ese sufrimiento que han tenido los libros de las series de la primera generación. Esa intensidad en sus personajes. Enzo definitivamente es el típico personaje de Eva Winners, obsesionado con su mujer, sin importarle nada más. Razón por la cual leo a esta autora. Y me encantó el personaje de Penelope, desde los libros anteriores ya se veía que iba a desarrollar un FMC digno de ser princesa de la mafia. 👑
No se si sufrí mucho por el tema principal de la historia, que me encantó que todo girara alrededor de Amara y no totalmente de los personajes principales. O si mi sufrimiento fue ver a Luca y Margaret pasar por todo eso. 😭
Algo que me ha gustado en esta serie es que POR FIIIIIIIN dejó de separar por años a los personajes principales, cosa que hacía en cada uno de sus libros anteriores y me daban ganas de aventar el Kindle por la ventana, jajaja.
La verdad me ha tomado un poco seguirle el paso a esta serie, por el tema del mercado negro de órganos, siento que es un tema pesado y necesito un descanso largo entre cada libro para seguir.

Enzo and Penelope…. Together at last. These two have had their marriage arranged since before she was born. She’s never met him and already despises him, seeing as he has a reputation of being a manwhore. But the day finally comes when they are to be wed and she does everything to make him miserable, all while dealing with her sick little sister and the pain she is going through. Enzo is the new head of the Omertà mafia and he has been obsessed with her since he laid eyes on her three years ago. Unbeknownst to her though. As an Italian, Enzo is truly passionate about her and the obsessive/stalker tendencies felt protective and sweet. This story was more sad and heartbreaking than the others in this series. But also, to see Penelope develop and realize her feelings for him, the way he feels for her, was everything.

Datorită acestui fapt ea vrea să se răzbune pe viitorul soț și petrece o noapte nebună alături de un bărbat misterios, numai ca…. va avea o mare surpriză când își va da seama de identitatea lui.
🦋Enzo Marchetti este dur, este calculat, este nemilos, ascunde secrete și este moștenitorul organizației Omerta, dar are un punct slab, și anume pe încăpățânata Penelope, pe care nu o poate scoate din mintea lui din momentul în care a zărit o prima dată. Poveste lui Enzo și a Penelopei este minunată și nu am ce să reproșez niciunuia, pentru ca au fost mai mult decât perfecți împreună. Enzo se transformă datorită Penelopei, devenit cea mai bună versiune a sa, iar Penelope devine mult mai puternică alături de Enzo și luptă pentru el, chiar și atunci când el crede ca nu mai merită să lupte. Am iubit-o pe Amara și am plâns pentru toată nedreptatea la care a fost supusă și aș fi vrut un miracol pentru ea, i-am adorat pe cei doi frați zăpăciți ai lui Pen, mi-a plăcut ca au apărut în poveste și părinții celor doi - susținându-și copii din tot sufletul, iar sfârșitul a fost mai mult decât perfect. Așa ca dacă vă plac poveștile de iubire cu mafioți încăpățânați și eroine puternice și asumate, orice cartea a Evei Winners este perfectă.

I fell in love with Enzo and Penelope, even more than before!!!
These two were bound to an arranged marriage since birth for Penelope and childhood for Enzo...
Penelope knows that she can't do anything about that arrangement, even though she is trying to rebel in various ways, and she thinks that she had succeeded, but her future husband doesn't leave anything out of his control, especially anything that it has to do with his future wife...
And then, the big day is coming and Penelope can't do anything except to step fully into this marriage!!! But Enzo has secrets that can destroy them both!!!

Yep, he was obsessed with Penelope and he was going into great lengths to become the only man in her life and even though that's kind of creepy, it was fascinating to watch him behave like a lovesick lunatic!!! LOL!!!
Penelope was incredible and her resistance in his presence wasn't there for long, but I can feel her!!! Enzo managed to get under her skin with his caring and protective gestures, especially toward her sister, Amara!!!

I JUST TRULY LOVED THIS BOOK. ❤️❤️❤️
I am an Eva fan forever!! I have read all of her books on her universe but I will come out & say that this one is so unique in its own way.
I am in love with her second generation because while it’s not always sunshine and rainbows, it is real, raw & extremely heartfelt.
Throughout the second generation of characters, you can tell that she went with a different approach & is giving the kids unique stories that don’t compare with what their parents went through & I love that.
Enzo was so unexpected for me. He is officially my favorite second gen character. He was so real, raw & honest about his feelings & actions. I could relate to him so much. The love he had for Pen?? MY GOSH!!! & I though Matteo had it bad for Ariana.
Penelope was written beautifully, smart with a bit of pizazz and A HUGE heart. Through her story I could really relate to her and feel her feelings. While she went through such a heartbreaking situation, she used it to her advantage.
This story wasn’t all about love & it is different than what most have been up until now. It was real, raw & honest. It was very special & I hope Eva knows what a beautiful & heartbreaking story she gave us. I love her new writing.
Somehow Eva’s writing gets better every book. I will never stop recommending her books.

If I could rate this book more than a 5 I definitely would. It was beautifully heartbreaking. I’m not a crier, but Eva managed to bring me to tears with this one. I don’t even know where to begin. Amara was the bravest, most beautiful little girl. She was so strong and wise beyond her years. For only 11 she was incredibly smart and wise. My heart broke for her and I honestly didn’t expect things to go as they did. I was in tears.
Now for Enzo and Pen. Those two were the best. I loved Pen’s sassy and fierce personality. She took zero shit from Enzo and wasn’t afraid to stand her ground- even to her dad. She was definitely not a meek and quiet mafia princess. She didn’t want to marry Enzo but she knew it was duty and she did it. It was refreshing to see. And Enzo. Oh sweet and crazy Enzo. That man was beyond perfect. I loved everything about him, from his stalkerish ways to seeing his relationship with Amara. How he was with that little girl was beyond special and one of my favorite moments in the book. What he and Pen’s brothers did when Amara was in the hospital was incredible. Amara brought out the best in everyone and saw things they didn’t. I said it above, but I’m saying it again, she was so wise beyond her years. She truly was selfless. And I really enjoyed, and laughed, watching Luca and Enzo in the beginning. It was comical seeing Luca get so bent out of shape watching Enzo with his family and how much they liked him!

Enzo is an arranged marriage romance that drew me in to read this, not just because I liked the premise, but also because I’m so invested in this series.
On the Enzo & Penelope front, Eva delivers a story filled with tension, loyalty, and passion as both navigate a relationship that begins with resentment and slowly transforms into something deeply charged and complex. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the emotional stakes is seen in the story throughout.
The book balances the aspects of mafia life with moments of tenderness, particularly through Penelope’s devotion to her little sister Amara. While the story is intense and gripping, a few plot points felt predictable at times. Amara’s presence and the evolving relationship between the leads added warmth and depth that balanced the darker and unhappy elements.
Overall, Enzo is a decent installment in the series, offering a passionate romance and well-drawn characters with some emotional weight. However, it never quite reaches its full potential, lacking the impact or surprises that could have set it apart and made this something truly remarkable and one of the standout books in this series. On the Enzo & Penelope front, Eva delivers a story filled with tension, loyalty, and passion as both navigate a relationship that begins with resentment and slowly transforms into something deeply charged and complex. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the emotional stakes is seen in the story throughout.
The book balances the aspects of mafia life with moments of tenderness, particularly through Penelope’s devotion to her little sister Amara. While the story is intense and gripping, a few plot points felt predictable at times. Amara’s presence and the evolving relationship between the leads added warmth and depth that balanced the darker and unhappy elements.
Overall, Enzo is a decent installment in the series, offering a passionate romance and well-drawn characters with some emotional weight. However, it never quite reaches its full potential, lacking the impact or surprises that could have set it apart and made this something truly remarkable and one of the standout books in this series. I just wanted so much more. I rate this 4 stars.

I have been waiting for Enzo and Penelope’s story, and Eva Winners absolutely delivered! Their chemistry was explosive from the very beginning, filled with passion, obsession, and an intensity that leapt off the page—especially from Enzo’s POV. I loved how raw and emotional their connection felt; it made me root for them through every heartbreak and every obstacle.
As always, Eva weaves in those strong family values and vibes that make this series so special. The bonds between the characters add so much depth and warmth, balancing out the angst, heartache, and twists. This book gave me all the feels, and I was completely hooked from start to finish.
Without a doubt, Enzo has become my favorite in the series—it’s emotional, addictive, heartbreaking, and unforgettable!

Eva Winners delivers another addictive ride with Enzo, a mafia romance that grips you from the very first page. I enjoyed this book so much (no surprise there!), but it honestly felt a little too short. I wish we had more details about their first encounter, since the story leaned heavily on organ trafficking ring plotline (not that I’m complaining!). Like I said, I just wish it had been longer.
I cried so much for Amara, all she's been through was heart-wrenching. And omg, the bond between her and Enzo had me swooning nonstop <3
And as always, it’s such a delight to see the members of the first generation, Luca, Margret, and of course daddy Enrico <33.

Me tragaré mis palabras con lo que les voy a decir, ahí les va...
Para mí, el mejor libro de esta serie de Eva es ESTE. Y es por varias razones:
1. Tiene dark romance, pero sin ese machismo forzado de los anteriores por parte de los padres y el probrecito yo, pobrecita mi hija y bla bla bla.
2. Aquí Eva nos presente un drama nuevo que nunca he leído en ninguno de sus otros libros como lo es la enfermedad. Ok, quizás alguno de sus otros libros si tiene su drama y yo no lo he leído, quien sabe.
3. Este libro no es absurdamente largo, tiene su longitud deseada para disfrutarse sin que me alarguen el drama con páginas y páginas, capítulos y capítulos de dramas, vueltas y lamentaciones.
En fin, de verdad que esto es lo mejorcito que ha escrito de esta serie (y el de Matteo va para el final de esta lista porque que estrés esos protagonistas y sus padres inútiles). Veamos que nos depara el libro de Gabriel.

I think this might be my favorite Eva book yet and that is saying something. This story was heartbreaking and beautiful. The way she weaves in the first generation characters flows so natural in the stories.
