"Intuition: Awakening Your Inner Guide" authored by Judee Gee.
I first read this book as a random pick off the stacks within my community college library.
I was at first put off by the meditation techniques that are introduced. I have read that many meditation "techniques" can be a way to trick your brain into seeing shadows and other figments. This is done by forcing yourself to be in darkness for an hour. Then quickly removing yourself into a well-lit area. Your mind is still on beta waves and therefore is still technically in "rest mode", making you vulnerable to seeing an "apparition".
Outside of the meditation section, I found the knowledge of seeking the guide within by means of focusing and applying automated writing, to be an interesting insight. That doing such a thing will increase your "inner intuition" to achieve a mystical guidance as one would receive through using Tarot Cards.
I would not recommend this book unless you're looking for some guided meditation ideas. I would summarize the author's viewpoint on intuition as HARD WORK.
A much better book is Shakti Gawain's Developing Intuition. Why? 1. It is much briefer, direct, to the point, and far more descriptive. 2. It actually explains what intuition is; what it feels like. In short, it helps the reader develop competence and confidence quickly and easily. And that's what the reader of these books is looking for!
Judee doesn't get to intuition until page 119 of the book, and then you're thinking 'Wait, what? There's an 8 step meditation process before I can even access my intuition, and then I still don't know if I'm actually accessing my intuition or just making stuff up!'
This book is thoroughly researched but does not execute its purpose well. As I said, read Shakti Gawain's book -- it is an excellent and clear starting point for recognizing, honoring and developing your intuition.
This book was given to me as a gift in my teenage years. I decided to re read it before I donated it.
The second read was very fun! Nice reminders and fun exercises! I like that this book puts no limits on the intuition, and teaches that using intuition is very similar to using your imagination!
Another positive about this book is the claim that anyone is capable of using their intuition! It's more about development rather than being born with a good intuition!
Great beginner book! My favorite part was the channeled messages from the authors spirit guides, very powerful messages!
