Milana Robertson is a dark romance author with a love for stories that blur the line between passion and danger. Her debut novel, Angel in Black, introduces readers to a world of smoky New York nights, haunting secrets, and love that cuts as deep as it heals.
Raised in Queens, New York and now based in Phoenix, Arizona, Milana draws inspiration from her Russian roots, her lifelong love of romance, and her fascination with the shadows that lurk behind every great love story. She writes for readers who crave intensity, vulnerability, and a touch of the forbidden.
When she isn’t writing, Milana can be found curled up with a good book, dreaming up her next story, or spending time with her young daughter. Angel in Black is just the beginning, with Devil in White continuing the journey into her dark and captivating world.
As a girl who loves a dark, tempting romance, Lena and Artyom stole my heart. For anyone loving the moody, morally grey men and a strong FMC, this is definitely for you!
Milana’s debut story was nothing but the perfect binge read. It has been a long time since I’ve been unable to put a book down. I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this book and it did not disappoint. I cannot wait to read more of Milana’s novels in the future.
Angel in Black is everything you want in a dark romance: gripping, sharp, and surprisingly heartfelt. The pacing is pitch-perfect, the characters are lovable, and the chemistry between Lena and Artyom crackles with every page. Their banter is witty, their bond is intense, and watching love unfold between a strong heroine and a morally gray mafia leader is endlessly satisfying. Add in clever humor, just the right amount of spice, and characters you can’t help but root for, and you’ve got a book that’s impossible to put down. Angel in Black is a stunning triumph of dark romance—flawlessly written, emotionally gripping, and utterly unforgettable. It’s the kind of book that stays with you long after the last page.
I picked up this book when I was really busy at work and just needed an escape. I honestly thought I’d read a few pages and get back to what I was doing, but I had such a hard time putting it down. It completely pulled me in.
It’s one of those reads that feels light and easy to follow but still manages to make you feel something (lots of feels). The writing is simple in the best way, smooth and clear with just enough detail to make you care without feeling weighed down.
The story flowed effortlessly and the characters felt real in a way that made me want to keep reading. It’s the perfect book for busy days or when you just want to unwind with something well written and heartfelt.
Long story short: This book was the first book I binge read in FOREVER and I did it while on vacation in Hawaii because it was THAT good. If I could rate it more than 5 stars, I would!!!
Long story long: I have so much to say but I want to keep this spoiler free so potential readers and future fans can read my review. :) Angel in Black is such a special story. I will first off say that I am definitely someone who loves to read fantasy, gothic lit, and self help books so this was my first experience reading a dark mafia romance novel! It was completely out of my comfort zone but I am happy to report that I genuinely and thoroughly enjoyed it. The romance was ROMANCING for sure. I loved the romance and feeling all the feels and tension and chemistry between our two main characters, Lena and Artyom. Lena proves to be very headstrong, loyal, and definitely passionate about taking care of the people she loves (eldest people pleasing daughters rise). Artyom excels in discipline and is extremely smart, clever, efficient, and most of all protective. Will he potentially break someone’s fingers if someone touches the person he cares about? Maybe… haha. As I read Angel in Black, I felt like Lena and Artyom brought out different, more vulnerable sides of each other but I’ll let you read and discover what those sides are! They also uncover parts of each other… if you know what I mean hahahaha. Along with the romance, there were lots of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. The mafia aspect was so interesting to read and I enjoyed the world building! The pacing and the plot kept me on the edge of my seat! That cliff hanger at the end was so incredibly rude though and deserves jail time!!! (When is the next book Devil in White coming out, Milana???) My favorite character hands down is Alec. IYKYK!!!! As I wrap up this review, I want to briefly talk about the themes and lessons that stood out to me personally as a reader. Although attraction and romance are necessary and beautiful, trust and vulnerability help build a strong foundation in a relationship. There’s something so ironically empowering and freeing in letting your guard down and letting someone take care of you and love you as you are… especially as someone who is used to having the heavy responsibility of taking care of others before yourself. To be seen is to be loved. Loyalty, commitment, and feeling safe… I feel like everyone desires that deep down and this story explores that. I really appreciate Milana’s voice and heart in this story. It felt so real and authentic which is what we need more of in this world if I’m being honest. I believe there will be people that will resonate with this story and connect with it whether it’s dancing at the club with your bestie, laughing and bickering with your family, being so into someone it actually consumes your every thought, or having a ride or die relationship with someone you would give up everything for. This was an incredible debut novel and I cannot wait to read more from Milana Robertson!
