Damned: God’s Child No More is one of those books that pulled me in far deeper than I expected. What starts as a story about grief and faith quickly unravels into a dark, emotional descent that feels equal parts supernatural thriller and character study.

Reign Mitchell is easily the strongest part of the novel. Walker writes her with such raw vulnerability that I found myself aching for her even before the supernatural elements kicked in. The flashbacks to her life in Los Angeles and the trauma that broke her faith were some of the most painful and compelling sections. By the time she arrives in the quiet village of Hale, I was rooting for her to finally get a break… which, of course, she absolutely does not.

The demon’s arrival is where things really shift. I loved how the book plays with the tension between power and corruption. Reign’s transformation isn’t sudden; it’s this gradual, almost seductive slide into darkness, and watching her justify each step made me weirdly sympathetic even when I knew she was losing control. The bloodlust scenes were intense without being gratuitous, and they served the character arc more than the shock factor.

One of the biggest surprises was how layered the world is. The secret society of angels felt mythic but grounded, and the detective hunting Reign gave the plot a good dose of suspense. Even the romance, something I usually brace myself for in dark fantasy, felt organic. It didn’t magically “fix” Reign, but it did complicate her choices in a way that made sense.

My only real complaint is that the pacing around the midpoint slowed just slightly as new plot threads were introduced, but once everything converged, the tension was incredible. By the final chapters, I genuinely didn’t know whether Reign was going to save herself or surrender to the monster she was becoming.

Walker does a great job balancing action with emotional depth, and the ending left me thinking about the cost of pain, belief, and the choices we make at our lowest moments.

If you enjoy dark fantasy with moral grayness, supernatural intrigue, and a protagonist you’ll want to save even as you fear what she’s becoming, this book is absolutely worth reading.

Wow. This book completely consumed me from the very first page. Her prayers went unanswered, until something dark answered back that opening line alone gave me chills, and the story only got darker, deeper, and more breathtaking from there.

Reign Mitchell is one of the most compelling protagonists I’ve read in a long time. Her pain feels real raw and messy in a way that makes you ache for her, even as she’s pulled into something terrifying. The author does an incredible job of exploring grief, faith, and vengeance through a supernatural lens, and the result is a hauntingly emotional story that lingers long after you close the book.

The setting in Hale, England, is atmospheric and eerie misty woods, crumbling churches, and a sense of something ancient lurking just out of sight. The writing is lyrical yet sharp, perfectly capturing Reign’s inner turmoil as she teeters between light and darkness.

What really blew me away was how morally complex the story is. There’s no easy line between good and evil here just choices, consequences, and the slow unraveling of a girl trying to find herself in the ruins of her faith. The romance, too, is beautifully done: tender, dangerous, and heartbreakingly human amid the chaos.

By the time I reached the final chapters, I was fully invested heart racing, eyes tearing up, rooting for Reign even as the darkness threatened to consume her. This isn’t just a supernatural thriller; it’s a deeply emotional exploration of what it means to break, to fall, and to fight your way back.

If you love dark fantasy, emotional depth, and characters who feel achingly real, this book is an absolute must-read. It’s the kind of story that claws its way under your skin and refuses to let go.

I’ll be thinking about Reign Mitchell and that chilling, redemptive ending for a long, long time.

*Damned: God’s Child No More* pulled me into a storm of pain, power, and raw emotion.* Reign Mitchell isn’t your typical protagonist, she’s beautifully broken, dangerous, and unforgettable. Her journey from shattered faith to embracing something dark and powerful is both terrifying and deeply human.

What I loved most was how the story doesn't shy away from difficult themes, grief, guilt, vengeance, identity, all explored through a supernatural lens that feels as real as any emotion. The writing strikes the perfect balance between haunting atmosphere and intimate emotion, drawing you into Reign’s head as she teeters between saving herself and losing everything.
Hale, England, becomes more than a backdrop, it’s alive with secrets and shadows. You feel the weight of the fog, the echo of church bells, the tension in every quiet moment. It’s dark fantasy at its finest, immersive, eerie, and emotionally rich.

The demon bargain, the hunt by angels, the slow-burning romance, every thread hits with weight. There’s no clear good or evil, just choices that shape the soul. By the end, I was breathless, conflicted, and completely invested.

A beautifully dark masterpiece. Damned: God’s Child No More isn’t just a story, it’s a descent into grief, rage, and the hunger to feel whole again. Reign Mitchell’s journey is powerful and painful in all the right ways. She’s not a perfect heroine she’s fractured, angry, and slowly transforming into something the world can’t control… and I couldn’t look away.

What struck me most was how personal it all felt. The supernatural elements, the demon’s offer, the angels hunting her, the bloodlust, all mirror something very human: trauma, isolation, and the desperation to be seen. Kyle Walker doesn’t just write a dark fantasy, he writes *truth* wrapped in shadows.

The setting is rich with mood, eerie, quiet, and crawling with tension. Hale feels cursed, and Reign fits into it like a broken piece clicking into place. Every chapter feels like stepping deeper into a haunted forest, you know danger’s ahead, but you *want* to follow.

The romance is intense, unpredictable, and laced with risk, just like everything else in Reign’s life. It doesn’t save her, but it reveals the last fragile pieces of who she used to be.

I don’t even know where to start with this one. This book messed me up in a good way. It’s not your typical “girl meets darkness” story. It’s deeper than that. Reign’s pain feels too real. You can literally feel the weight she’s carrying, that mix of heartbreak and rage that makes her say yes to something she knows is wrong… but at that point, who wouldn’t?

What hit me hardest was how the story makes you question your own beliefs. Like, how far can pain push someone before they stop caring about what’s right or holy? It’s dark, but it’s also weirdly beautiful. The writing is sharp, cinematic, and heavy with emotion. I caught myself rereading certain lines just because of how raw they felt.

The love story part? It’s not the kind that saves herit’s the kind that makes her want to be saved. There’s a difference. And Kyle Walker nailed that balance between horror, heartbreak, and humanity.

This book didn’t just tell a story; it made me feel something. And honestly, that’s rare.

I didn’t expect this book to hit me so hard.
Reign Mitchell’s story felt like watching parts of myself unravel on the page, the pain, the anger, the need to feel in control again. She’s not just a strong female lead, she’s real, raw, and so heartbreakingly human.

The supernatural angle adds tension and thrill, but what truly gripped me was the emotional weight. Kyle Walker writes grief and vengeance in a way that’s almost too close to home. Reign’s choices aren’t easy, and as a woman, I felt every internal battle she faced, especially when love, darkness, and identity start to blur.

The romance wrecked me in the best way. It wasn’t just sweet or steamy, it was *earned*, complicated, and exactly what the story needed. And the setting? Gloomy, mysterious, and perfect for the descent she takes.

This book made me feel seen in the most unexpected way. If you’ve ever been broken and tried to find yourself again, this is the kind of story that stays with you.

Such a deep and emotional story. I loved how real Reign’s character felt, like someone who’s truly been through pain and is just trying to survive. The book made me think about faith, loss, and how easy it is to lose yourself when life gets too hard. It’s honestly one of the best dark fantasy stories I’ve read lately.

I couldn’t put this book down. Reign’s struggle hit me differently. It’s raw, heartbreaking, and a bit scary at times. I liked how the story showed that even when you lose faith, there’s still a small chance to find light again. It’s one of those stories that stay in your mind after reading.
