Love letters spark the heart, but when white lies smother the flame, Bethany and Leon encounter a mountain of trouble!
Bethany works in the office conducting safety inspections. Leon sweats it out in construction wielding heavy machinery. The two couldn’t be more different, and an initial encounter in a parking lot leaves both fuming.
However, pen and paper bring the awkward couple together in ways that surprise them both. From terms of endearment to shy feelings, Bethany and Leon explore an undefined relationship through the written word.
Unfortunately, secrets and misunderstandings shatter their connection before things really heat up. Add a smooth-talking, conniving ex into the picture and things really go south fast. Can Bethany and Leon sift through the madness and mistakes to salvage the delicate beginnings of love, or will a hypothetical wrecking ball leave their emotions in the dust for good?
This spicy romantic comedy follows Bethany and Leon's story of miscues and mayhem. The romance is tense and the poor hearts sensitive as the lovers try to find common ground. This fun story contains the following tropes:
-Love letters -Meet-cute…nah! -Ex interference -Troublesome white lies -Enemies to friends to enemies to lovers (whew!) -HEA

Having recently read all of Pamela Summers’ spicy tales, I was intrigued to read her latest offering ‘Wrecking Ball’. Safety inspector Bethany and construction worker Leon could not be more different, and their first meeting in a car park is anything but smooth. Yet that spark of friction quickly sets the tone for a relationship that is as combustible as it is irresistible.
What I enjoyed most is how Summers balances the heat with heart. The back and forth between Bethany and Leon has a natural rhythm that makes their chemistry believable. Just when you think they might find their footing, along come the little white lies, meddling exes, and those awkward misunderstandings that keep romance readers happily turning the pages.
This is not a sprawling epic, it is a novella that leans into its tropes with confidence. Summers clearly understands the appeal of the enemies to lovers dynamic, and she has fun with it. The writing is sharp, the spice level is unapologetic, and the ending delivers the kind of happily ever after that romance fans crave.
Short, sassy, and sexy. I had fun reading this story. The way the other showcased Bethany’s inner monologue was funny and surprising. And the way Bethany kept searching for Leon that man she fell in love with through his love letters was funny and endearing. They had a lot of miscommunication, but the author did a brilliant job keeping the story on track. I absolutely loved the last chapter. Sweet and sexy!
Bethany: “I’m an emotional wreck and I keep falling into the same traps with men.”
The last thing she needed was another man. Then she has a run-in with a handsome construction worker.
This was a pretty pleasant read for the most part. It was rather cute how the two characters started off writing these sappy love letters to each other as a way of reaching out but still keeping at bay. I’m personally not a big fan of love letters and, quite frankly, these letters slowed the story down a bit. Even without the letters, the pace, in general, was pretty slow and it just felt too long. I wished it would’ve moved a lot faster. I liked the refreshing wit, but it wasn’t quite as fun as I would’ve expected in a rom-com. The characters were likeable and the sex scenes were good. All in all, a fairly nice read.
This was an excellent story with a very authentic voice. Bethany goes through an unwelcome break up with her boyfriend, Joshua. She eventually meets Leon, but not in a way you’d expect would lead to anything other than a potential lawsuit. I don’t want to post any spoilers; their relationship appears to start out quite nicely, but a few major issues arise. The story itself is believable and relatable, especially the details about office life with the “hens” and their constant gossip and chattering. The relationship between Bethany and Leon develops in a very sweet and romantic way, which was nice to read. And the dynamics between Bethany and Joshua are very relatable to every woman who’s ever had an old flame unexpectedly turn up. Altogether, a very enjoyable romance with very relatable and realistic situations!
"Wrecking Ball" is the kind of book you can almost taste. Every scene feels rich and full of life. Bethany and Leon’s story is built on moments we’ve all experienced — misunderstandings, distance, ex, and the quiet ache of wanting a genuine connection. The author Pamela Summers writes about these moments with such tenderness that you feel every emotion as if it were your own.
There's something beautifully nostalgic about the way they communicate, especially in an era when genuine connection seems scarce. The story is romantic without being clichéd and touching without being overly sweet.
And, yes, it has the kind of happy ending that leaves you smiling long after you finish it. It's a heartfelt, hopeful story that reminds you why love stories never go out of style.
An enjoyable read but a little head-spinning at times as Bethany and Leon's relationship unfolds. The chemistry and feels are there but the complications can be overwhelming at times. The inclusion of the lovenotes and their way of exploring the connections was cute but a number of misunderstandings threaten the progress of the couple. Bethany's relationship with her ex is explored a lot more than was perhaps necessary and the one-night stand he tricks her into is perhaps the worst of the complications they face. I would of liked to see more of their eventual reconciliation before the short but hot ending chapter of the story. All in all a good strong story that kept my interest . I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. P.S. loved Leon's kid would of liked to see more.
Not the story I expected, but more than content with the ending of this novella. Although there was miscommunication, more on Leon’s part, & Bethany overreacted in the worse possible way, I love that they went old fashion by writing love letters to each other, and despite the misunderstanding on Bethany’s end (thanks to the miscommunication on Leon’s end), they figured it out and were able to talk it out, allowing them both to get the happy ending they deserved. This was a cute, quick read.
Thank you NetGalley & Pamela Summers for this eBook.
A fun and chaotic romance with great chemistry between Bethany and Leon. I liked the mix of humor, tension, and a bit of spice—it feels natural and believable. The love letters were a nice touch, though sometimes they slowed things down a little. The story has real warmth and energy, but a few parts felt a bit repetitive. Still, it’s entertaining, sexy, and full of personality—a light read that leaves you smiling.
This was a fun, quick, feel good romance. And i do mean quick. It took less than two hours to read. The story of Leon and Bethany was engaging, especially with the love notes, though the last few chapters felt rushed. I would've liked there to be another chapter before the epilogue, but all in all, it's a fun read that shows how keeping secrets can cause trouble, but truth and perseverance leads to happiness.
Wrecking ball by Pamela Summers is a cute story about a girl name Bethany who ends up meeting Leon in a funny way at a construction site. They have a cute awkward encounter, some cute letter passing. Leon had a complicated situation that causes an issue and when it was resolved then everything ended up working out like it was suppose to. I enjoyed reading this book!
Steamy fiery hot. The read is full of strong chemistry with a good build to the storyline and characters. The difference in each character personality and style of romance is what highlight the strong chemistry and intensity at times within their dynamics. A good read!
This was a great read that I did not want to put down! I finished the book in a day and the adult content was just right. Who doesn’t look at construction workers while they are working in the sun? ☀️
