BLURBAct Ashes In a world of illusions, only ashes hold the truth…
Mumbai... the city that sells dreams and buries nightmares.
Kavir Raichand was once its brightest star, until one night turned his life to ruin... his love stolen, his soul reduced to shadows. Now he drifts through the city as nothing but a ghost of the man he once was. Then she appears.... Nivira Rathore... graceful, radiant, hiding wounds stitched too deep to see. To the world, she’s a rising star. To herself, she’s a seeker of truth... truth that could expose the darkness that destroyed the one she loved. And if it drags Kavir back into the flames, so be it. Their first encounter ignites more than either expected. “Hi. I’m Nivira.” “Kavir,” he murmurs, his gaze too steady. “Have we met?” A flicker, the faintest pause. “I don’t think so.” But the lie hangs between them, sparking an electricity neither can deny. Every glance feels like a challenge. Every word, a trap. Every silence, a storm. He can’t stop being pulled toward her, and she can’t escape the danger he carries. Secrets close in on them, blurring the line between love and destruction. Because in Mumbai, the city of masks and mirages... falling in love is the deadliest illusion of all.
The book is about Nivira and Kavir, two characters having weights tying them to their brutally heavy pasts. Kavir, even though celebrated as the superstar, is haunted by a night that changed it all for him. Nivira with her own set of family problems trying to run from to make a life in the cinematics.
This story captures the dark side of life - abusive parents, misogyny and how revenge fuels a person to harm the one even related to your blood. It was too dark for me, especially the last couple chapters that left me unsettled in the stomach.
It's a thriller suspense romance - not for the faint of heart.
I LOVED like literally LOVED this book. I'm speechless. First of all, the quotes- THE DAMN QUOTES?!?!?!??! THEY ARE WAY TOO REAL. Like I can literally relate them with my life. And it made some changes in my overall behaviour. This book pierced itself right thru my heart. The suspense in the starting about nivira and kavir #kavira omggggg loved it. I was so invested in the book from very first chapter. The way the story was flowing was truly amazing. I completed this book in just 2 days. LIKE LITERALLY ONLY 2 DAYS. And when I finished it, it felt like a part of me went away with this amazing book. Can we just take a moment and talk about how well the emotional development and yearning is written??? Like I m srsly head over heels for it. The way nivira was second doubting whether kavir is the real enemy or is this thing way to much than just a game of cat and mouse. Every single chapter got me more deep inside the story and make me never wanna leave. This was such an easy read and the writing was soooo personal. I loved it. Half way through the book, it's feels like I'm not reading anymore rather living it.
This book broke my heart and sewed it right back. The emotional rollercoaster was amazing. I personally suggest for everyone who like a romantic suspense, actual development, yearning, enemies-to-lovers, emotional intimacy and ofcrs a story which develops from the cases of never allowing girls for certain things and how they change the history and step up for themselves. This book is for youuu🥹💋
Just finished the book in one go, and it was the perfect amount of suspense, romance, thrill, and emotions. My heart breaks for every character in the book.
Nivira and Maya, my sweetest souls, I'm sorry, love, for everything you both suffered, but I'm glad that you didn't lose your spark and got your happy ending.
Kavir and Vansh went through a lot—the misunderstanding, the fights—but everything was worth it at the end. I'm waiting for Vansh to find his other half so that he can be at peace as well.
The writing was amazing, the Hindi dialogues added a personal touch, the character development was amazing, and the plot was interesting. I was engaged till the end and couldn't stop reading it. The last 30% was a full-on ride, and I loved it a lot. My heart was full reading the epilogue.
I just closed the book and… I’m still walking in the smoke. *Act Two: Ashes* felt like a mirror I didn’t expect to look into, but once I did, I couldn’t look away.
Kavir Raichand — the star who burned brightest — and Nivira Rathore — the actress whose real role is to uncover the truth — both carry scars. Big ones. The kind you can’t easily hide behind makeup or spotlight. Their story threads through Mumbai’s glitter and grit, where dreams are sold and nightmares aren’t just buried — they’re recycled. And what glitters doesn’t always blind you; sometimes it reveals what you’re missing.
> “The lightest moments slip in when you’re too tired to chase the shadows.” > That line didn’t sit in my head. It sank into my chest. Because the story shows you that healing isn’t always racing toward the light. Sometimes it’s finally turning around, staring at what followed you in the dark.
This book isn’t gentle. It doesn’t sweep in with fluff and soft endings. The tension is constant: in the glances, the silences, the city hum that feels too large for one person’s grief. And the chemistry — yes, it burns. But not because it’s perfect. Because they don’t fit together seamlessly. They fit together *messily*. Two shards, shaken by what they survived.
> “She wasn’t made of fire. She was the ashes that refused to fade.” > That line is the heart of it. Because the story asks: what happens when the fire is gone — when you’re left with the residue, the rubble, and you have to decide what you’ll build from it?
And Nivira… she isn’t the saviour. She’s the reckoning. Her mission is sharp, her pain jagged. Watching her step into that world, not as flower but as flame-ash, was something I rooted for. Watching Kavir face the man he became after the man he was… I held my breath.
The pacing, the backdrop, the hidden angles — everything makes it feel cinematic. Like I was watching a film unfold in dawn-light and half-shadows. The setting of Mumbai isn’t just window-dressing. It’s alive. It presses. It whispers. It mirrors them.
If you pick up this book expecting just romance — you’ll get more. You’ll get a story about loyalty, ambition, broken promises, and the kind of love that doesn’t rescue you — it meets you in ruin and says: *you’re still here.*
Would I recommend it? Without a doubt. If you want a read that *grabs you*, shakes you, lets you breathe — and then leaves you changed — this is it. It’s messy. It’s painful. It’s beautiful. And it stays.
“Sometimes the fire doesn’t end you, it reshapes you.” It is a tale where broken dreams scatter like ash, yet hope insists on finding its way back.
The novel doesn't circle around love alone, it dives into loss , scar and survival. A tale where heartbreak smolders under every chapter and the regret of choices sticks to their soul. The heart of this story beats with Kavir Raichand , a man who once owned the spotlight, adored, envied, untouchable, until one night strips it all away, fame, stardom and especially the woman he loved. Everything collapses into ashes. And then comes Nivira Rathod, a presence that feels both like a lifeline and a storm.
The first collision of their worlds sets everything ablaze ,you feel the burn. Nivira carries her own secrets, the kind that twist and turn like embers refusing to die out. She is not written as a savior, she is written as a mirror forcing Kavir to confront the shards of himself he has long buried. Their story is not tender, it is not easy. It is jagged, raw, and haunting.
The author doesn't offer you a simple romance. She delivers a world where glamour and grief crash against each other, where the cost of ambition is measured in blood and silence, where love is not soft but scorching. This is a story of second chances, but not the pretty kind,it’s about clawing your way out of ruin, about facing the fire you thought had already burned you to dust.
The magic of this novel is in the way it thrums with life. The writing has that cinematic sharpness, scenes unfolding with such clarity you can almost hear the echoes of Kavir’s downfall, the tremor in Nivira’s silence. The emotional undercurrents are unshakeable. Their pain rises off the page and settles into you you feel it pressing down on you as though you're carrying it . I would blindly give this book a five star cause it truly deserves it.
This is the kind of book that holds you hostage. You’ll start it thinking it’s just another romance and finish it realizing it was something else, a story about ashes, about survival, about love that burns instead of heals. If you are looking for a read that will scorch you, shake you, Act Two : Ashes is waiting.
Sometimes, devastation can lead you to the closure of your pain. In finding the source of that pain, you may just discover the cure for it too. Act Two: "Ashes..." is one such captivating read that explores this feeling well.
The story revolves around Kavir, a Famous Actor with a haunting past, and Nivira , a debuting actress shrouded in mystery and eyes that hold secrets deeper than the surface. Her eyes strangely keeps reminding Kavir of a ghost he's been trying to overcome from the past year — the one incident which destroyed him completely. As they start working as Co-actors together , both feel a strange pull towards each other even though one is cautious and other is mysterious.
Nivira has her own purpose, one that drives her to remember and resent the great superstar Kavir Raichand. It's her stage now and she will own it. Unbeknownst to him , She intends to snatch the truth hidden beneath the ashes of his past, even if it means flaming her heart and getting burned in the process.
This novella quickly became one of my favorites! The sizzling chemistry between kavir and Nivira and the mystery of the plot kept me hooked from start to finish. It beautifully blends the elements of Romance and thriller while also focusing on it's characters. Each character has a perception and purpose, yet easily captures your heart while reading. It's a multiple POV read which I enjoyed because it made me see the story from different angles.
I also loved the dynamics between Vansh, kavir and Nivira! Their connection and banter made the read heart warming alongside chaos of plot! Facing your fear is the concept the story elegantly captures. The ending is so satisfying and fulfilling that I felt alive with the characters.
Overall, ACT TWO : "Ashes.." is a Perfect Combination of Romance, mystery, thriller and found family! If You are a fan of thrillers and romance genre, then this book is a must read for you that blends both genres in a satisfying engaging way!
This book honestly felt like I was reading a Bollywood script. It was fast-paced but not rushed. It made me feel every single emotion along the way.
The story revolves around Nivira Rathore, a newcomer in the movie industry. She's shooting her debut film opposite the country’s heartthrob Kavir Raichand. He is a brooding, mysterious superstar carrying the ghost of his past hidden behind his calm demeanor. But Nivira isn’t here just to act, she’s determined to uncover the dark secret behind the death of her closest person.
From the beginning something pulled Kavir toward Nivira. She felt really similar to the woman he once loved. It led to him feeling torn because was he feeling for her because of who she is, or because she reminds him of someone he lost? Their connection grew deeper yet both resisted because of secrets, resentment, and the fear of getting too close. Especially Nivira in particular carried hatred for Kavir believing he is the one responsible for the tragedy in her life. But as she observes Kavir more she starts questioning whether she was hating the wrong man all along.
Kavir’s character was my absolute favorite. The author has written him so beautifully. It was heartbreaking to see the grief he carried throughout. The vulnerability he tried to hide beneath his stoic exterior and the rare moments when his emotions slipped through was emotional.
This book beautifully blended mystery and romance. It kept me hooked until the very last page. I literally felt the looming threat hanging over the characters. The actual reveal shocked me even though I guessed who was behind it. The way everything unfolded was brilliant.
And the ending seeing Kavir, Nivira, and Vansh come together resolve their issues, and fight for their friend was so satisfying. I loved how everything came up leaving me both emotional and fulfilled.
Overall, this was an intense, emotional, and gripping story that I couldn’t put down!💗
Act two: Ashes made me travel to Mumbai with a dark, smoldering side where glamour and pain are like two sides of a coin. And I was completely engrossed from the very first page which was unexpected for me😳
The story follows with Kavir Raichand, a man which was once shone as the rising star but now has been broken by a single night that costed him a lot; his career and the person who kept him alive.
Every word made me feel the weight of his grief and silence. He's not written as the traditional "hero" but as someone raw, vulnerable and haunted, which made me ache for him even more as he was so closed off sometimes.
Then there's Nivira Rathore, and honestly she stole the spotlight for me. She's beautiful and ambitious, yes, but that wasn't the only thing that made me fascinated by her, it was the fact that she isn't just there to orbit around kavir. She's here with her own secrets, mission and a sense of purpose that makes her just dark, layered and compelling.
The tension between Nivira and Kavir is electric, every encounter was charged with (440V electricity) attraction, suspicion and a socntabt push and pull that made me turn to next page in curiosity of what's comes next.
The setting of Mumbai added life to the story, with dazzling and suffocating, a city of illusions where the truth only comes our after the plot is burnt, from Ashes. The backdrop amplified the themes of facade, ambition, and betrayal.
Roohanee's writing was absolute cinematic and felt like I was watching a movie unfold in dim lighting making every glance, every silence carrying a heavy meaning. The emotional depth of both characters was the best part of this.
I could feel Kavir's torment and Nivira's guarded nature making me root for them throughout the book. For me Act Two: Ashes was an intense, brooding and atmospheric read, perfect if you enjoy romance tangled with pain, mystery, secrets and characters who as broken as they are magnetic.
This book is not like your normal romance Bollywood love. It's filled with revenge, thriller, mystery, love, angst. This book revolves around Nivira and Kavir.
Kavir Raichand once was the superstar of industry, now is coming back once again after that night which took everything from him. The only person because of whom he was living was gone. But until he saw Nivira Rathore, she is a new rising star, beautiful, poised but with secrets. She is here on a mission to unravel the secrets, the truth and if that burns Kavir Raichand, so be it. They meet for the first time something sparks which she never planned for and he was not looking for. While working together will Kavir realise what Nivira is truly here for and will Nivira uncover the truth? Will the tension between will be resolved or it will lead to something which they both didn't expect to happen.
I loved this book. It's a fast paced book and the fact that even though it was fast paced it didn't feel like one because through the book I was on edge about what's gonna happen. There are so many things in the book which I loved, like before every chapter there were some quotes which were amazing, some scenes among the characters, the found family, their past bond was what I love. There was one character who played a huge role for Kavir and Nivira and I love that character so much and wished that there was more about that character. Also, the way the book gives the whole vibes of films(ik it's based on cinema) made it different from the usual and I truly enjoyed it.
If you are looking for a book which is fast paced read, thriller, mystery, gives you a feeling of movies then this is the book for you.
Act Two: Ashes was not what I expected at all. I went in thinking it would be a simple tale of revenge and love, but what I found was so much more, layers of suspense, heartbreak, and healing woven together beautifully.
From the very first page, the suspense grips you. It feels like every line drips with tension, pulling you deeper into the story. At the same time, it’s an emotional journey, about family, love, tragic pasts, accidents and the fragile bonds that can both break and heal us.
The story centers around Kavir, Nivira, and Vansh, three people tied together by one accident, one fire and one devastating loss. That single event shatters them, but also becomes the strange glue that binds them together.
I don’t want to give away spoilers because this book deserves to be experienced fresh. Every twist, every reveal, every raw emotion is worth uncovering on your own. But I can say this, it went far beyond my expectations.
The pacing was perfect, the writing pulled me in and the emotional depth left me both heartbroken and hopeful. author you did a wonderful job 🫂❤️
The tragic love of Vansh, Kavir, and Mia touched me deeply. Mia’s absence lingers like a shadow over the story, but when Nivira enters their lives, she brings a sense of calm, of healing, even as the scars of the past remain. It’s a story about second chances in love, in life, and in happiness.
With revenge, heartbreak, betrayal, broken family bonds, found family, and the power of love at its core, Act Two: Ashes is more than just a novella. It’s an emotional storm that leaves you with both tears and warmth. I loved it so much, it’s truly a gem.
Whilst reading the book, I felt like I was in a movie. Throughout, it felt like I was stepping into different films, not because the book itself felt like it was based on a movie, but because the vibes I was getting were so similar to the ones I’ve watched and adored.
For example, in the first 10% of the book, I was getting Saiyaara vibes — from the scene where fans were shipping both Naveera and Kaveer, I instantly thought of the way fans were rooting for Aneet and Ahaan.
Then came a part where I suddenly felt like I was transported straight into Om Shanti Om — the story backdrop, the fire element, everything. It felt so familiar, so alive, like it was happening right in front of my eyes.
It wouldn’t be right to call this a romance novella with a thriller in it. It’s more of a thriller with romance in it. The lies, the betrayals, the secrets, the bonds— this book has everything.
Three hearts, three lives, colliding with each other, all tied together with a single thread.
The story is written from multiple POVs, giving you glimpses into each person’s thoughts, and I think that’s the best way to help readers truly relate to the characters. And the writing — OH MY GODDDD — it was so beautiful, I was in awe the whole time. The headers at the start of the chapters? Brilliant. Every time I read one, I was like, “Oh my god, that’s so deep.” The writing completely stole my heart.
If you want to read a thriller romance with found family, wrapped in the backdrop of Bollywood and cinema, then this book is perfect for you. Do give it a try.
Thank you, Story Shine PR, and Rohanee for providing me with the ARC of this adorable beauty 🤍🤧
"Act Two: Ashes" is a compelling book that masterfully blends romance, suspense, and emotional depth. Set against the vibrant yet shadowed world of Mumbai’s film industry, it captures the contrast between dazzling fame and the darkness that often lingers behind it.
At the heart of the story is Kavir Raichand, a man once celebrated as a superstar, now a recluse haunted by grief and betrayal. His quiet, brooding presence contrasts beautifully with Nivira Rathore, a rising actress determined to uncover truths that many would rather keep buried. Their chemistry is incredible, and the way the author portrays each character makes them feel truly real. What I loved most about this book is how it doesn’t shy away from heavy themes. It addresses power dynamics, misogyny, and personal trauma with sensitivity, while also delivering a captivating romance that feels deeply earned. The chemistry between Kavir and Nivira is slow-burn and magnetic, written with careful attention to detail. The book’s use of dual POV, forced proximity, a revenge-driven plot, and tragic backstories makes for a layered and cinematic reading experience. It reads like a Bollywood thriller, filled with twists and secrets, yet never loses its emotional core. Despite its shorter length, the pacing feels natural, giving every scene and revelation room to breathe.
"Act Two: Ashes" is more than a romance-thriller—it’s a story about resilience, trust, and the courage to face painful truths. It’s the kind of book that lingers in your mind, leaving you reflecting on its characters long after you’ve turned the final page.
At times you get a book that reminds one of why they fell in love with reading in the first place. This book was that reminder to me. It is not just a story, it is an emotional experience, with a combination of suspense, love, grief, and healing that made me remain glued to the end.
The novel is a story of Nivira Rathore, a newcomer in the movie industry, who gets her first role opposite national superstar, who is also a mystery, Kavir Raichand. It seems like a dream couple on the outside, but there is a lot of pain, secrets, and a tormented past under the glamour. Nivira is insistent on the truth behind her own personal loss and everything shows that it was Kavir. However, as she continues to witness his secret sorrow and a reserved helplessness, the more she is making herself ask, whether she has placed her hatred in the wrong place.
I was completely enamored with Kavir's character; his quiet strength, the grief he conceals behind his stoicism, and the infrequent moments when his emotions show through were all incredibly poignant. The supporting cast, particularly Vansh and Mia, contributed layers of friendship, treachery, and found family to the narrative.
The author's skillful blending of romance and mystery was what caught my attention. Every turn was significant, the dialogues were full of unfiltered emotion, and the pacing was quick but deliberate. The quotes at the start of each chapter were fantastic; they gave the writing a poetic touch.
Everything came together beautifully in the climax, which left me feeling both satisfied and moved. This book is a stunning, captivating novella that is deserving of all the accolades.
'Act Two "Ashes"' by Roohanee is a romance tragedy filled with love, hatred, revenge, regrets, misunderstandings and emotions that run deep within. Let's first talk about the four main characters of this book, each with a strong character, where two are siblings, two are lovers, two are best friends and one with one sided love. What happens when your past catches up your present? What happens when the day he was going to propose she died? What happens when he thinks he killed her? And what happens when she comes for revenge but falls in love instead? Will the truth come out at last? Who is guilty and who is at fault?
The whole book is quite a suspense to read, you hold your breath a little, hate a little, are filled with anger a little, sometimes you simply want to go inside the book and punch the character, that is how good the book was for me. The twist in the end was the best plot yet, one you'll never see it coming and I love when that happens in a book.
What happens when you end up falling in love with the one you think killed your sister? Is it betrayal to fall in love with the sister of someone you used to love after she passed away? Would they be able to stay apart from each other when the pull is so strong?
If you ask me, this book will make a superb movie because I can already see it all come to life and it is that plot I won't mind paying to watch. If you are a romance fan this is a book you must pick.
This was such an unexpected read-and honestly, I wasn't prepared for how much it would pull me in. Lemme tell you all, this is not your typical swoony romance. It's so much more. It's a world of revenge, lies, betrayal, healing, and love set against the glittering yet ruthless backdrop of Bollywood and Mumbai. From the very first page, you're thrown into the lives of Kavir and Nivira-two broken souls tied together by one tragic past. Their story is raw, haunting, and achingly real.
The story weaves around four characters-Kavir, Vansh, Miya (Mrignayani), and Nivira (Nayanthara)-with the past and present flowing seamlessly through perfectly timed flashbacks. The weight of guilt, the sadness, the heartbreak Kavir carried was written so beautifully that I could feel it.
Every chapter had its own twist, its own sharp turn, and I could never quite guess what was coming next. That unpredictability kept me hooked from start to finish. This book isn't just about love-it's about loss, healing, betrayal, and the haunting shadows of the past. The writing is fast-paced and engaging.
If you're in the mood for a story that grips you with both emotion and mystery, Act Two: Ashes is definitely worth picking up.
And how could i forget the quotes at the start of each chapter loved them....
Act Two: ASHES is a story that really stays with you. At the centre is Kavir Raichand, who loses everything in one night: his career, his love, and the future he thought he had. From there, the book takes us through his journey of pain, guilt, and trying to rebuild himself. What made it so powerful is how broken yet relatable he feels.
Nivira Rathore plays such an important role in that journey. Their relationship is not rushed or forced; it grows naturally through moments of vulnerability and strength. Watching them together felt genuine, like two people learning to heal in their own ways.
The storyline mixes heartbreak, romance, and suspense really well. There are twists that keep you guessing, and while some parts slow down with Kavir’s reflections, those moments make the emotions hit even harder.
I also appreciate the writing style, it’s emotional without being over the top. The author has a way of pulling you into the characters’ inner world and making you feel every bit of their struggle. This is a moving, character-driven story about love, loss, and finding hope again.
✨ Real emotions 💔 Heartbreak + healing 🔥 Twists that keep you hooked
If you’re into emotional, character-driven reads, with just the right touch of mystery and romance this one’s for you. I highly recommend it!
"Act Two: Ashes" by Roohanee is a hauntingly beautiful tale of love, loss, and redemption set against the pulsating heart of Mumbai — a city where dreams glitter and darkness breathes. The story follows Kavir Raichand, a fallen star consumed by his past, and Nivira Rathore, a rising actress carrying her own scars. When their paths collide, sparks fly — not just of attraction, but of secrets, guilt, and buried truths that refuse to stay silent.
What makes this story captivating is how it transforms tragedy into poetry. Roohanee intricately layers mystery with emotion, painting Mumbai as both a backdrop and a living character — seductive, deceptive, yet achingly real. The chemistry between Kavir and Nivira feels raw, unforced, and deeply human, reminding readers that healing often begins in the ashes of heartbreak.
The author’s writing is cinematic — lyrical yet grounded, weaving pain and passion with effortless rhythm. Each line simmers with tension, while the dialogues pulse with restrained emotion. Roohanee doesn’t just tell a story; she makes you feel it — the ache of betrayal, the pull of fate, and the danger of truth.
"Act Two: Ashes" is not just a love story; it’s an exploration of what it means to burn, to break, and to rebuild. For readers who crave intense emotions and atmospheric storytelling, this book is a masterpiece worth savoring.
I just finished Act Two: Ashes and wow… what an emotional, gripping ride this book turned out to be 💫.
The story follows Kavir, a superstar who has lost himself to the weight of his past. When his friend Vansh convinces him to step back into the spotlight, he meets Nivira, the female lead of the film. From the very first encounter, Kavir feels an unshakable pull toward her as if her face is tied to memories he cannot escape. But Nivira carries secrets of her own, and with each chapter, I kept wondering how their lives (and Vansh’s too) were tangled together.
What stood out to me was the intensity of emotions in this book. The author captured grief, anger, longing, and healing in such a raw and realistic way. The slow-burn chemistry between Kavir and Nivira had me rooting for them with every scene 🥹. And those revelations? I was genuinely stunned when the truth started coming out so well done!
This book is not just about revenge. It’s about dreams, resilience, and the cost of chasing the spotlight. I loved how the suspense was balanced with heartfelt moments it made the story unforgettable for me.
If you enjoy books that are mysterious, fast-paced, emotional, and deeply human, Act Two: Ashes is a must-read. I’m already counting days for Act Three! 🥰
Saying it’s a romance with thriller won’t do justice, because it’s truly a thriller with romance.
This story has three major characters. Kavir Raichand, an industry superstar who has been spiraling downwards, enclosed in grief and brokenness after losing his love. Then comes Nivira Rathore, a girl with doe-like eyes that feel oddly comforting and familiar to Kavir. But why? He has met her for the first time, right? Why does it feel like they have met before... have they? Or is there a deeper connection? And then there is Vansh, Kavir’s best friend (or not, or maybe yes), the one who convinced him to sign up for this movie, the one who brought Nivira into his life... or was it destiny?
Kavir is convinced he is done with love after his loss, and Nivira is back to take revenge for what she lost, the thing she loved the most.
This book has everything, from high tension moments to family trauma to hidden identity and murder. I really enjoyed reading it, though it could have used a little better editing, but that doesn’t matter much knowing this whole book is led by a one-woman army. And ma’am, I really liked the epilogue 🥹
I had a good time reading this, with my mind running through ever-changing theories. PS: my last guess was correct 👀🤭
"Some lines are written for the screen. Some are carved into the soul."
I just finished reading Act Two: Ashes and honestly what a ride this book was. From the first chapter❤️ I felt pulled into Kavir’s world a brightest star carrying the weight of his past and then comes Nivira, whose presence feels both mysterious and familiar. The way their lives get tangled with Vansh makes the story even more interesting.
What I really liked is how real the emotions felt. The grief, anger, hope, and those little moments of connection all were written in a raw way. Kavir and Nivira’s chemistry is not instant, it slowly builds up and that’s what makes it so powerful. Vansh also stood out for me, his bond with both of them was something I genuinely enjoyed reading.
The suspense had me hooked and a few twists honestly shocked me. The quotes at the start of each chapter were a beautiful touch. The author has written it in such an engaging way that I actually felt the emotions while reading. For me, this book felt more than just romance or revenge it’s about healing, second chances, friendship, and chasing dreams. If you love romantic thrillers with mystery and emotions, Act Two: Ashes is a must-read.
Act Two: Ashes was far more than I expected, it was a breathtaking blend of suspense, heartbreak, love, and healing. From the very first page, the story gripped me with its intensity and refused to let go.
The characters: Kavir, Nivira, and Vansh were beautifully layered, each carrying their scars and secrets, yet bound together by fate in a way that felt both fragile and powerful. The plot is brilliantly crafted, filled with twists and raw emotions that left me heartbroken one moment and hopeful the next. The setting felt cinematic, almost like a Bollywood script come alive, and the writing style elevated the entire experience... it was immersive, heartfelt, and deeply moving.
But what I loved the most were the dialogues and the emotions woven into them. Every conversation felt real, every unspoken word carried weight, and the feelings leapt right off the page. For me, that was the soul of the book.
This is a solid 5-star read, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. It’s not just a story, it’s an emotional journey that lingers with you long after you turn the last page. I’ve already set it in my favourite book section of my eBook shelf, because it truly deserves a permanent place there.
Act Two: ASHES, a story about four lives filled with love, dreams, struggle and betrayal. The prologue was very intriguing. I was very curious to see how the story will unfold.
"Three hearts. Three truths. Three storms are colliding under the same night sky. None of them knew what tomorrow would bring, but all of them felt it."
The story follows Nivira, a debutant actress, Kavir, a superstar and Kavir's best friend Vansh. The three lives were connected with same person Miya.
Nivira has many secrets. She was out for revenge, truth and closure. On the other hand Kavir was dwelling on his past, the loss of his first love. When two of them met sparks fly. After spending some time with Kavir, Nivira realises he turned out to be nothing like what she was told. Nivira, Kavir and Vansh joined hands to find truth about Miya's death, many secrets came out, creating chaos in their lives.
I really like how the author creats suspense with her words. I was hooked from the very first page. Although the story was amazing I would have loved to see more scenes of Kavir and Nivira. Every part of the book was well penned. If you like books with romance, suspense, twists you would love it for sure.
This book was one of an experience where you totally forget you are reading and get completely immersed in the story. It’s set against the glittering yet haunting backdrop of Mumbai, where every shadow hides a story. Kavir Raichand, once a star burning too bright, is now a man weighed down by grief, silence, and the ghosts of a single night that changed everything. Enters Nivira Rathore. She is poised, fierce, and and and maybe.... carrying secrets of her own.
What follows isn’t your typical romance. It’s raw, aching, and layered with betrayal, healing, and the dangerous power of truth. The city itself almost becomes a character very dreamlike, ruthless, and unforgettable.
Roohanee’s writing hooked me in with its intensity. The dialogues hit hard, the atmosphere was extremely cinematic, and the emotions were so real that you feel them sitting heavy in your chest. This is a story for anyone who loves their romance tangled with pain, redemption, and the thrill of secrets waiting to be uncovered.
This book deals with many factors that are often ignored such as misogyny, child abuse, torturing girl child etc
“The sharpest pain comes not from the wound itself, but from the thought of how close you came to losing what you love.” 😍💗
This book was a rollercoaster of emotions that had me crying. Are you for real? The plot kept speeding and speeding just when it hit the climax and I was stunned. The plot twist was damn, oh so good. I was speechless. I loved the book from start to end and read it without a break.
Nivi, our fmc, was a spectacular character. Absolutely love the way she writes. Her character at the start was written perfectly and I really loved that she did what she felt right and not be blinded by other people's views.
Kavir's character quickly became my favourite. He was so mysterious with the way he approached Nivi and you could feel his grief, he really did miss his girlfriend Miya who died in the fire, who was Nivi's sister.
A notable mention is Vansh. I really liked him because you could really feel his love and feelings. He was a great friend even though he made mistakes. I loved the way he stood with them till the end. That's true friendship.
I would really recommend this book to literally everyone because you need this book in your life. The characters and the plot will make you fall in love.
Okay, wow — this book was fire! 🔥 I loved every bit of it — the chemistry, the emotions, the suspense, and those unforgettable characters!
Nivira Rathore is such a strong and confident character 🎬 She’s an actress working on a movie with Kavir Raichand — who’s hot, handsome, and brooding 😍🔥 He carries a pain from his past that still haunts him, and honestly… that made me love his character even more.
The way Nivira and Kavir start catching feelings for each other 🫶 — the tension, the care, the protectiveness (ugh, Kavir being all protective? yes please 😭❤️) — everything just clicked.
And let’s not forget the banter! Their little moments together were so cute and playful 💕 I found myself smiling through so many scenes.
The friendships in this book were also written beautifully — full of love, heartbreak, misunderstandings, but in the end… they still stood strong 💔🤝
Some quotes that stayed with me: ✨ “The lightest moments slip in when you're too tired to chase the shadows.” ✨ “Bonds are born from pain; some from choice. The rare ones… from both.” ✨ “Monsters wear human skin; the danger is when they speak like they care.”
I’ve read one of Roohanee’s books before and loved it — but this one? It sealed the deal. 💯
This book was such a short and interesting read. One of the best romanctic thriller I have ever read. It contains the perfect amount of mystery and romance.
The book follows the story two broken souls Kavir and Nivira whose lives gets connected because of a painful past. The book shows their journey of healing, moving on, getting justice for their loved one and finally finding love.
I loved the chemistry between the characters, the way two broken souls healed each other it was absolutely perfect.
The suspense of this book will keep you on your edge from the very first page. And the plot twist of this book was completely unexpected and also quite heartbreaking.
Another thing which I liked about this book was definitely Vansh, he was very realistic character and also loved his bond with both Mia and Nivira.
I also the loved the quotes at the beginning of each chapter they were do thoughtful and perfect.
Overall this was a great book, I loved it. The writing of the book is very fast paced and engaging. If you want to read a romanctic thriller with revenge, lies and betrayal then this is the perfect book for you.
This book my second book from the author Roohane. I have read her previous book so I know her writing. I totally love her writing. Was exited to read this book and after finishing it can say it's one of the beautiful book and this one successfully has crossed my expectations.
This book revolves around Kavir, Nivira and Vansh. Their lives are entangled together from past. The secrets, mystery, suspense, and also love and friendship all make this book more beautiful. I have to mention one character name,Miya. I won't give spoilers. But without having much presence this character silently has made it's place. To know more about her I am suggesting to read this book asap.
In this book you can feel the touch of bollywood, camra, lights, action, past trauma, betrayal everything all together. Give this book a try for sure. As usual author Roohane's writing is smooth, intact. Loved this book.
I want Vansh's story too. He is amazing in his role. Definitely want his book too 🙈. I love this book totally. If you are a fan of bollywood or kind of that then go for this book. You will definitely enjoy reading ❤️
" I hadn’t come to Mumbai for fame. I’d come with a truth wrapped in mystery, one I’d protect until the very end, because secrets were safest when no one asked the right questions. And I was counting on him never to ask mine."
Lights, Camera, Action — this book is a movie on paper. 🎥🎬
Miya, an aspiring actress, Kavir, a heartthrob and established name in bollywood, and Vansh, the producer. This inseparable bunch dreamt of building their names and career in Hindi Film Industry.
One mishap has changed their equation between friends, and then enters Nivira— another aspiring actress and soon secrets start to unfold and everyone is left fighting for their love. ❤️
The story is not only about the “Love” love, but also about friendship, companionship, and sibling equation.
The suspense was built quite well and the ending was totally dramatic. There was love, suspense, grief, pain — all handled well.
It’s a fast read and I finished it in one sitting. The writing is easy and beginners could easily consume this one, although I feel if the author could reduce the usage of ellipsis, after a while it bothered me.
"Not all ghosts wear white. Some walk beside you, laugh with you.. And wait for the right moment to return."
This story is about Kavir Raichand who was once the industry biggest star now struggling with his past trauma. Nivira Rathore a rising star enters into his life with hidden intentions..When Kavir sees her for the first time something stirs.. a dangerous spark that blurs the line between desire and suspicion. Is she his chance at redemption… or the final act in his downfall?
This book really has that Bollywood masala.. Thriller.. Romance.. Action.. Gives us that vibes straight out of a Farah khan movie. Loved the tension between Kavir and Nivira.. This book really had some great quotes which give a cinematic and emotional feel.. That make you pause and reflect at times.. The worldbuilding in this story is so striking it shows the reality of mumbai and the film industry..
Loved the writing of Roohanee where every page was filled with suspense and slow burn.. As an avid fan of slow burn books this was really one great read i have had..
If you are somebody who loves Bollywood vibes or themes like me.. Do give it a try..
Act Two: Ashes is a chilling story of love, loss, and suspense .
The novel follows the life of Kavir Raichand, a broken superstar who is finished with acting, and Nivira Rathore, a suckling starlet with her own secrets in her past. The characters are fabulously, deeply flawed—Kavir battling his guilt and own demons, Nivira with her inner and outer toughness and painful scars revealing themselves on the page. Each chapter left me guessing where the next chapter would take me or what truth hidden under innocence was coming.
What I loved so much about the novel were the real emotions of loss, yearning, hope, betrayal, healing that felt so raw, and authentic. The writing reminded me of a movie: colorful, dramatic, yet still highly intimate—it was cinematic fiction; at times I could close my eyes and feel like I was watching a movie reel play by in sequence.
This isn't just a love story—this is staring history in the face, and have the courage to fall in love again at a time one thinks that is impossible. Anyone who loves a heart wrenching—romance/mystery/complex character. I will appreciate this novel.
