Wall Ceiling Floor: An Exhibition of Works by Anastasi, Judd and Sandback

Rate this book
Wall Ceiling Floor, curated by Michael Straus, explores the work of three individualistic and highly original artists, William Anastasi, Donald Judd and Fred Sandback, while simultaneously offering insights into the movements of Minimalism, Conceptualism and Post-Minimalism. In one of the catalog essays, Tiffany Bell expands on the rationale for bringing together the works of theses three artists in order to examine their related concerns with uses of materials and formal structures. In another catalog essay, Thomas McEvilley examines these artists' philosophies and attitudes and their works' connection to the world. As McEvilley observes, the essence of the show is an ontological reduction, a "conscious immersion in the realm of negation" that "sizzles with an electric energy."
