Dahunsi woke up on the morning of her fourth wedding anniversary to find her husband being arrested for the murder of his mistress’s boyfriend. Now, she must use her money and influence to prove his innocence — because he truly is innocent.
This fast-paced novelette tells the story of deceit, betrayal, and revenge.
Lola Ovayoza writes stories that explore the quiet but powerful forces that shape us—love, loss, identity, and the messy beauty of human relationships. Blending literary depth with engaging storytelling, she creates books that are as thought-provoking as they are compelling.
Outside of writing, she spends her time reading widely, overanalysing her characters, channelling her creativity into fashion design and styling, bingeing true crime documentaries, and building playlists that tell their own stories.
Obiliwiski is EXACTLY why short stories deserve more hype! Less than 100 pages but packed like a full-blown thriller. I started it thinking “quick read”… next thing? I was DONE and screaming in my head because WHAT did I just witness??
The pacing? Chef’s kiss. The suspense? Non-stop. The themes of betrayal, revenge, gaslighting and secrets collide so perfectly you’ll forget the book is under 100 pages. It doesn’t just claim to be thrilling it truly delivers the thrill it was built for. No dull moments, no drag, just pure page-flipping adrenaline.
I’m steering clear of spoilers because I actually want you to experience it the way I did—blind, excited, unprepared, and highly entertained.
This book made me go through series of emotions in one sitting…one minute, I was curious, the next, surprised, next minute, impending irritation at what Dahunsi had to go through, and by the end of the book, I was relieved.
Such a rollercoaster in a short read, ah! I’ll read it again just to experience those emotions over and over again like it’s my first time reading.
If you ever want a short read that is worthwhile, with sides of suspense, sarcasm and surprise, here you have it, OBILIWISKI is perfect🥰.
Lola Ovayoza is doing to short stories what Steve Jobs did to PCs in “08. I’ve been a fan of hers since her debut release “Death and I” and have been on the lookout for more of her works ever since. OBILIWISKI is my new favorite as it kicks off thrilling, exciting and leaves you jaw dropped at the end, leaving to imagination the heights and even lows we would reach for those we love.
And that title?! Looking forward to reading more from this author. Highly recommend.
Omg! This book is so gooooood. What!!? For a short book, it gave everything it was supposed to give. Kudos to the author cause she’s good. I’m not gonna say much so as not to spoil it but if you are reading this right now and you haven’t read this book yet, you don’t know ball 🙂↔️
Obiliwiski is that book that first makes you feel like the FMC is dumb ASF until the twist. Lola plays on the emotions of her readers one moment I was on a low and the next I was squealing with joy for dahunsi .An amazing insight that tells that love isn't stupidity , 10 across all boards
This book had me from the very first chapter. I didn’t want the story to end at alllll omggg. When I got to the last page, I literally groaned because I wasn’t ready to leave that universe. Lola Ovayoza served revenge in the most satisfying, beautifully delivered way, and I liveeee for dishing out consequences.
Obiliwiski is captivating, emotional, and very satisfying if you have a wicked side lol. This book is going to stay with me for a long time, and I know it will for you too.
As someone who enjoys reading everything Lola writes, this book is another standout. It’s intense, clever, the secrets, the twists, everything was incredibly crafted. The kind of story you finish in one sitting!
If you’ve been craving a book that snatches your attention from the first page, then you honestly owe it to your brain to read OBILIWISKI.
