Novellas really deserve way more recognition than they usually get, because I can’t even believe my first five-star read of the year is a novella. If I had known, I would have read this much earlier.

This book was so well written and incredibly fast-paced. From start to finish, it was engaging, funny, and guaranteed to get under your skin in the best way.

The audacity of men? Absolutely insane. This book was so wild, but the revenge was so sweet that it made everything worth it. Truly a great read. I enjoyed myself so much.

Obiliwiski is EXACTLY why short stories deserve more hype! Less than 100 pages but packed like a full-blown thriller. I started it thinking “quick read”… next thing? I was DONE and screaming in my head because WHAT did I just witness??

The pacing? Chef’s kiss. The suspense? Non-stop. The themes of betrayal, revenge, gaslighting and secrets collide so perfectly you’ll forget the book is under 100 pages. It doesn’t just claim to be thrilling it truly delivers the thrill it was built for. No dull moments, no drag, just pure page-flipping adrenaline.

I’m steering clear of spoilers because I actually want you to experience it the way I did—blind, excited, unprepared, and highly entertained.

So yeah… don’t think too hard. Just go. Read. It.

A 5-star ride, through and through!

Men. And audacity.

Because what do you mean I woke up on my fourth wedding anniversary to my husband being arrested accused of killing the boyfriend of his mistress and now I’m expected to pull out my money, my influence, and my peace of mind to defend him… because he swears he didn’t do it, and somehow, I believe him?

That’s the madness Obiliwiski drops you into from page one.

This novella wastes absolutely no time. It’s sharp, fast, and wildly entertaining, with a plot that keeps tightening until you’re fully locked in. The writing is smart and intentional, the tension never dips, and every reveal hits exactly when it should.

The characters are messy,And when the revenge finally shows up? Oh, it shows up properly.

I’m a huge fan of short stories. I love them. I love how straight to the point they are — no dragging, no unnecessary characters, just short, sweet, and impactful. So when I found out this was a short story, I was actually really excited to read it.

And oh my goodness… I really enjoyed it.

The plot was good, yes, but the characters? That’s what really got me. The female character completely surprised me. I genuinely thought she was sweet and naïve, and then… boom. She blew my mind.

The male character, on the other hand, was honestly infuriating. Like, what the heck? Just a terrible person, full stop. But what shocked me was how conflicted I felt by the end of the story. And I think that’s what made this book interesting.

I also really liked how it touched on societal double standards — especially around cheating. How it’s somehow acceptable when men do it, but when women do the exact same thing, it becomes a moral failure.

There was also a subtle conversation around women’s health and how women are often dismissed — told they’re exaggerating, being dramatic, or should just “handle it.”

This is my first time reading anything by this author, and honestly? I’d love to read more. This was short, interesting, and surprisingly layered.

A really good read. 💯

This book made me go through series of emotions in one sitting…one minute, I was curious, the next, surprised, next minute, impending irritation at what Dahunsi had to go through, and by the end of the book, I was relieved.

Such a rollercoaster in a short read, ah! I’ll read it again just to experience those emotions over and over again like it’s my first time reading.

If you ever want a short read that is worthwhile, with sides of suspense, sarcasm and surprise, here you have it, OBILIWISKI is perfect🥰.

Lola Ovayoza is doing to short stories what Steve Jobs did to PCs in “08. I’ve been a fan of hers since her debut release “Death and I” and have been on the lookout for more of her works ever since. OBILIWISKI is my new favorite as it kicks off thrilling, exciting and leaves you jaw dropped at the end, leaving to imagination the heights and even lows we would reach for those we love.

And that title?! Looking forward to reading more from this author. Highly recommend.

"To catch a monkey, you have to act like a freaking monkey."

The author truly did something with this book. I felt a constant kingdom of ache while reading... I was restless and angry as well. I was upset with Dahunsi… and honestly with the author too… until I suddenly found myself screaming in delight.

What a tease! What a twist!

Overall, a great read. I enjoyed every bit of it.

This book had me from the very first chapter. I didn’t want the story to end at alllll omggg. When I got to the last page, I literally groaned because I wasn’t ready to leave that universe. Lola Ovayoza served revenge in the most satisfying, beautifully delivered way, and I liveeee for dishing out consequences.

Obiliwiski is captivating, emotional, and very satisfying if you have a wicked side lol. This book is going to stay with me for a long time, and I know it will for you too.
