Falston, a farm town in the middle of nowhere, is now my new home. Sure, I can restore books from anywhere, but did my parents really need to buy a homestead surrounded by miles and miles of corn? One perk is the acres of land perfect for stretching my furry black legs. Oh, did I forget to mention I’m a shifter? Black cat, to be exact. And when my feline eyes catch sight of two of Falston’s most intriguing—and dangerously sexy—residents, I realize this town’s secrets run deeper than its roots.
Bale
Not all scarecrows have straw for brains. Some of us are snarky, recklessly handsome… and lethal under a full moon. Falston's annual corn maze chase takes place in my fields, and is the only thing that keeps me alive year after year. But when a little black kitty slips into my rows, I’ll have to decide if she’s worth saving—or if she’ll become just another victim of the hunt.
Corbin
The Council clipped my wings when they cursed me, binding me to an eternity in Falston and shackling me with its secrets. I know the truth about the town’s annual corn maze no one makes it out alive. But when I meet Harlow, the dangers lurking between those rows will only take a darker turn. In the end, the call of the crow may be her only chance at survival.
This book is intended for mature audiences 18+ years. Please check the trigger and content warnings on the author's website.
Chased by the Crows' Call is a standalone in the Red Brick Road series, to be interconnected with three other future stories in the same universe. It can be read as part of the series or by itself.
A dark romance author, Sadie Winchester is looking forward to sharing the stories living in her head rent-free with the rest of the world. She writes across a variety of sub-genres, including mafia romance and paranormal romance.
During her high school years, she fell in love with writing short stories which continued on/off into adulthood. Finally, she decided to pursue her dream in 2023, and the rest is history.
Sadie lives in the Pine Barrens with her husband and son. When she's not reading and writing, she enjoys spending time outdoors, sipping local brews, and binge-watching her favorite shows.
This book was a ride and different than anything I have ever read before. This was the first book I read from Sadie Winchester and I'll definitely be reading more. I'm not sure what to say without posting spoilers so I'll keep it simple.
This book has unique shifters, a little bit of why choose shenanigans, and a curse to be broken. This is a short book in a standalone series, so the plot isn't complex and shocking but entertaining, nonetheless. If you like odd storylines, dark/witchy romance vibes, and reading something unique, add this to your TBR. It's the perfect read for your fall or spooky lists.
#Why Choose #Shifters #Curse #Revenge (Kind 0f) #Scarecrow smut (I never thought I'd write that either)
Chased by the Crows was an interesting and somewhat conflicted read for me. I can’t say that I disliked it, but I also can’t say that I fully loved it either. From the very beginning, I found myself questioning what exactly I had stepped into. The opening chapters left me a little disoriented, unsure of the direction the story intended to take, but something about it pushed me to keep turning the pages. As I continued, the book managed to hold my curiosity. There were moments that genuinely intrigued me, and the plot itself has a unique structure—full of unexpected twists, strange turns, and an almost eerie atmosphere that keeps you guessing. Even when I was confused, I still wanted to see where it was going, which says something about the author’s ability to weave tension and mystery. Where the story fell a bit flat for me was in the character connection. The characters are unconventional and written in a way that felt very different from what I’m used to. While that originality is interesting, it also made it harder for me personally to form an emotional bond with them. I found myself observing their journey more than feeling it. Because of that, certain emotional moments didn’t land as deeply as they could have. Overall, it’s a book that left me mixed but still thoughtful. It’s intriguing, unpredictable, and definitely unique—just not one that fully pulled me in on a character level. If you enjoy stories that are a little strange, a little confusing, but undeniably original, this one might be worth the ride.
Well the next book in this needs to be out now. This Wizard of Oz retelling had me intrigued from the fun bird fact in chapter one, to the question I have for the next book. Corbin was my favorite!!
Loved being on the ARC team and getting to read this one early! This one is filled with enough twists and turns to fill a corn maze (pun intended)! A perfect fall/October read.. and can we talk about that spice? 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I had a blast with this one and can’t wait for the next in the, Red Brick Road series to come out!
Dark, haunting, and utterly addictive — Sadie Winchester just earned a lifelong fan.
Chased by the Crows’ Call is a mesmerizing blend of small-town mystery, supernatural danger, and forbidden romance. From the first page, I was completely pulled into Falston’s eerie, corn-filled world — a place where secrets linger in every shadow and no one survives the annual chase.
The story follows Harlow, a black-cat shifter and book restorer who moves to her family’s isolated homestead, only to uncover the town’s deadly traditions. There she meets Bale, the snarky, lethal scarecrow shifter bound to his cursed fields, and Corbin, the brooding crow shifter who knows the truth behind Falston’s curse all too well. Together, they’re magnetic — the chemistry, the tension, the trust slowly forged between them. Every interaction crackles with danger and desire, and Winchester captures it perfectly.
The atmosphere is vivid and cinematic. You can practically feel the corn rustling, hear the crows calling, and sense the dread in the night air. The writing is immersive and poetic without ever losing its edge — Winchester makes you live and breathe this story.
What I loved most, though, was the emotional heart beneath the horror. This isn’t just about curses or survival — it’s about finding connection and learning to trust again after trauma. The balance of darkness and tenderness made this a truly unforgettable read.
Tropes & Vibes: 🐦⬛ MMF Why-Choose 🌾 Shifters & curses 🔥 Enemies-to-lovers tension 🏡 Small-town secrets & found family 🖤 Revenge, redemption, and plenty of spice
By the end, I was equal parts terrified, swooning, and completely in awe of this world. I can already tell the Red Brick Road series will be one of my new favorites, and I’m counting down to the next story — hopefully with more of Harlow, Bale, and Corbin (and maybe a certain little sister 👀).
Creepy, passionate, and unforgettable — the perfect fall read for anyone who loves their romance with a side of danger and mystery.
Thank you to Sadie Winchester for the ARC! I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review — and yes, this was the perfect pre-Halloween read. 🌒
This story has everything: shifters, curses, rituals, best-friends-to-scarecrow-and-crow, a spicy heroine who plays with fire, and enough “WHAT IS HAPPENING?!” moments to keep you glued from page one to the final twist. First off, his name is Bale—like hay bale—and somehow that only makes him hotter?? Bale is the grumpy, conflicted, “I hate you but also call you kitten” tease of my dreams. The love-hate-shift-in-front-of-her dynamic? Elite behavior. Corbin, meanwhile, is sunshine incarnate. Besties with Bale foreverrrr, absolute sweetheart, calls Harlow baby girl, and is so adorably submissive it had me kicking my feet. His devotion? I melted. And then there’s Harlow, who is spicy, chaotic, and an absolute menace—in the best possible way. The fact that she can SHIFT TOO (into a cat, no less) had me screaming. Her playing with danger? Her poking the boys? Her refusing to be sidelined? I ate it up.
Some of my notes while reading 😅: * Are they banging the ritual-chosen girls?? (Can i volunteer?? ) * Does the town know they’re shifters?? (How is everyone so chill??) * The corn pit scene. (Delishhh.) * FACE TATTOO. (RAW NEXT QUESTION.) * All the S.P.A.R.K.L.E references had me cackling. * The maze scene?? I reread that scene too many times 🤭
Also the “her boyfriends are boyfriends” trope??? Pure serotonin and my absolute favorite 🥵 Now…about this secret door, and a red brick road, a full-on “IS THIS THE WIZARD OF OZ?!” moment, and suddenly the promise of four interconnected standalones. Maybe Tin Man, Lion… and who’s next? The Wizard? Someone new? I’m frothing. I had an absolute blast diving into this chaotic, spooky, hilarious, and ridiculously addictive world you created. Bale, Corbin, and Harlow completely stole my heart (and my sanity), and I loved every twist, tease, chase, and “WAIT WHAT?!” moment along the way. Thank you so much for the ARC—consider me fully spellbound, thoroughly entertained, and ready to follow the red brick road wherever you take us next. 🖤

This darkly enchanting paranormal romance introduces readers to Falston, a remote farm town with far more than cornfields lurking in its shadows. Told through the alternating perspectives of three vividly drawn characters—Harlow, Bale, and Corbin—the story blends shifter mythology, eerie small-town folklore, and slow-burn, forbidden attraction into a uniquely atmospheric read.
Harlow, a black-cat shifter and professional book restorer, moves to Falston expecting boredom but instead finds herself entangled in the town’s deadly traditions. Her voice is charming and witty, grounding the supernatural tensions with humor and curiosity.
Bale, a scarecrow shifter (yes, and it absolutely works), is one of the book’s standout surprises. His chapters are sharp, snarky, and edged with a tragic undercurrent. The annual corn maze chase—an event that keeps him alive—adds a fresh, chilling twist to the shifter genre.
Then there’s Corbin, cursed and wing-clipped, a crow shifter bound to Falston and burdened with knowledge no one else dares speak aloud. His narrative brings a gothic melancholy to the story, weaving mystery and danger into every scene he touches.
The romance threads—more than a hint of a potential triad—are simmering and well-paced, never overshadowing the plot’s darker stakes. The tension builds beautifully as the corn maze’s true horrors come into focus, and the three characters’ fates become increasingly intertwined.
**Verdict:** This story is perfect for fans of paranormal romance who crave something a little different: a fresh mythos, morally gray heroes, and a heroine whose curiosity may be her salvation—or her doom. Atmospheric, original, and deliciously eerie, it’s the kind of book that makes you side-eye cornfields long after you’ve turned the last page.
This was the perfect read before Halloween! This book is intended for mature audiences 18+ years. Please check the trigger and content warnings on the author's website. A scarecrow, a black cat shifter & a crow. Fall festivals are a deep in-town tradition. But not all towns are safe & good. I hated what the council did to Corbin & Bale. They were just rowdy young men enjoying their lives when the council cursed them. Then Harlow shows up with her black cat form to help them break the curse and become their "friend" ;) I have also had an issue with corn mazes since a movie was made back in a corn field. Well, Sadie did not help my fear! She just made it worse. This is not only a book about curses but a book about friendship and learning to trust again. Curses, Stalking, Danger, Shifter, Spice, Revenge, all mixed into one book. I can tell the Red Brick Road books are going to be some of my new favorite books. Red Brick Road series can be read as standalone books, BUT it's an interconnected standalone. Sadie, bring it on on as I can't wait for the next book in this series. And hopefully a continuation of Corbin, Bale & Harlow's story. They have so many more adventures to have and curses to break. While getting the town council straightened out. I also think Harlow's little sister can/will/possibly play a big part in their story. I received an advance review copy at no cost and am leaving this review voluntarily.
MMF Why Choose Fated Mates Shifters Enemies to Lovers Small Town 🐦⬛🐦⬛🐦⬛🐦⬛🐦⬛ 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
First of all, that dedication is *chef's kiss*! I absolutely love Sadie's writing style and her creativity with her characters. Chased by the Crows' Call like its cover is dark and pulls you in with each and every word creatively crafted onto every page. The pictures that Sadie paints with her words makes the reader feel like they can truly visualize what is happening with the scene almost like a movie.
Chased by the Crows' Call is an interconnected standalone Wizard of Oz retelling. Before beginning this book, you should make sure to read and understand the trigger warnings. I love books that have a playlist at the beginning as it helps you to understand the vibe of what the author was going for as you read.
In this book you have a Scarecrow shifter named Bale, a Crow shifter named Corbin, and a black cat shifter named Harlow. Harlow has just moved into the town of Falston, a town that holds a dark and dangerous past. It all begins in a cursed corn maze. I learned a lot about crows while reading this book. There were so many quotes that I wanted to highlight! The chapters switch between the POVs of the three main leads. The romantic tension between them, the playful flirtation and sassy remarks were so enjoyable to read. I cannot wait for the next book in this series! If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would.
I received was lucky enough to recieve this book as an Arc from Sadie Winchester. I was so excited when I read the blurb on this one, it ticked all my boxes. It came out just in time for the spooky season, who doesn't love Halloween and all the darkness that comes with it. I'm a little bit late doing my review but life gets in the way sometimes. But I was not disappointed in this book. When Harlow, Corbin and Bale meet they have no idea that fate has brought them together and that one night will change their lives forever.
Do you like a arrogant, cocky scarecrow? How about sly and confident crow? What about a slinky badass black cat? What do they all have in common? A cursed harvest festival and a corn maze that will make you run for your life. This book gave off a Wizard of Oz feel and I was totally there for it.
I can't stress how much I really enjoyed this book. It had all my favorite feels, magic curses, shifters, faded mates, why choose and the banter between characters really brought this plot together. So if your looking for a post spooky season book, or just a great book to read this is a must! The plot twist at the end..like damn Sadie why did you leave me hanging like that. I can't wait for the second in this series!
Spice 🌶🌶🌶🌶 Tropes: - MMF Why-Choose😏 - Black Cat🐈⬛️/Scarecrow🌾/Crow🐦⬛ Shifters - Curses🔮 - Enemies to lovers❤️🔥
This was my first ARC and Shifters read! I have read a novella before where they had Shifters but it didn't go into any depth due to the length of the book, so this was my first time really seeing how this trope plays out🤭
The beginning immediately grabs your attention by jumping right into the action💥 Then, Sadie creates intrigue with an eerie, cursed harvest festival and corn maze that leaves you feeling wonder about what exactly this small town's secrets are🏘 Add in two friends that are just ASKING for trouble? A girl who can hold her own against them? The tension practically writes itself in ALL the best ways😏
The banter between Bale, Corbin and Harlow is just top tier👌🏽 It really makes for a fun read. The flirtation, sassy retorts- it had me laughing as I felt the tension building, while still making me feel🥵 The multiple POV connects you to each character throughout the storyline.
With Wizard of Oz vibes, Chased by the Crow's Call is a fun, mysterious, seductive read that gives ALL the Fall/Halloween feels🎃🍂 Just into darker reads? This book holds up all year-round🖤
Dark, haunting, and addictive — this book hooked me from the very first page.
Chased by the Crows’ Call is a chilling blend of small-town mystery, supernatural danger, and forbidden romance. Harlow, a book restorer and secret shapeshifter, returns to her family’s homestead looking for peace but instead finds herself pulled into the eerie traditions of Falston — a town where no one survives the annual chase.
The atmosphere is vivid and unsettling in the best way. The cornfields, the whispers, the crows — everything feels alive and dangerous. The chemistry between Harlow and Bale is electric, equal parts tension and temptation, while the deeper lore surrounding the town adds layers of suspense that kept me guessing until the end.
It’s dark, emotional, and beautifully written. The world-building feels rich and immersive, and the stakes are real — both romantic and deadly. If you love paranormal romance with a gothic edge, morally gray characters, and a heroine who learns to embrace her power, this one deserves a spot on your shelf.
Final thoughts: Creepy, passionate, and unforgettable — the perfect read for anyone who loves their romance with a side of danger and mystery.
ARC Review (available Nov 4th) ⭐⭐⭐⭐2.5🌶️ Yes, I'm totally one of "those people" who very much enjoyed the "Scarecrow" episode of Supernatural. (Who knew 20 years later I'd be reading scarecrow smut? 🤭🫣) So I was very much looking forward to this read. Saved it for Halloween and took me about 4-5 hours. It did NOT disappoint! This was a great story to read on Halloween. It is a quick 1-2 day read, So we don't get a lot of depth of character or World building. But there is enough to hold the story together and make it interesting and engaging. Our MMCs do get a good backstory but I didn't feel very connected to our FMC. The new girl in town immediately makes a connection with the cursed and "immortal" town bad boys. The town Harvest Festival may seem all pumpkins, apples, and sunshine thanks to the Town Council, when in reality, someone will not exit the corn maze alive. This spooky and spicy read features insta-love. A bad boy with a sweet center. A Scarecrow with a unique appendage 🍆. Chasing/Stalking, Why choose, MFM. Murder, mystery, curses, and witches. Do check your trigger warnings..
Chased by the Crows’ Call is book one of the Red Brick Road Series, written by Sadie Winchester. This is my first book by Winchester, and what a delicious, dark why-choose tale it was.
The book focuses on Harlow, Bale, and Corbin. Harlow, moving to Falston, a farm town in the middle of nowhere, with her family, and keeping a secret - she is a black cat shifter. When Harlow meets Bale and Corbin, she is in for more than she realizes.
Bale, who is secretly a scarecrow and part of a curse with Corbin, a crow shifter. Falston’s annual corn maze uses Bale and Corbin to ensure no one makes it out alive, until Harlow comes to town.
I would be lying if I said I never wondered what a scarecrow was packing under those tattered clothes. Bale did not disappoint! Neither did Corbin, for that matter. This was the perfect choice for spooky season. It was immersive and kept me engaged. I look forward to the other books in the series.
Thanks to Sadie Winchester for gifting me an eARC of Chased by the Crows’ Call. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is my first book by Sadie Winchester and I got to read this as an ARC - I mean, all you had to say was scarecrows and I was reeled in (i've always loved scarecrows and i'm not sure if it's unhealthy, but my friends will never take me back to haunted cornfields because I guess it's weird to say "yes daddy" to a scarecrow that jumps out at you? yeah, i don't know. but i digress...).
This started out as two guys Bale and Corbin who ended getting in the middle of a weird ritual being done by the town council members, ninety nine years ago. Present day, Bale is a scarecrow shifter and Corbin is a crow shifter. They meet Harlow, a book restorer who is actually a black cat shifter (I need to know if this is something I can be when I grow up). So, Harlow (lucky, lucky gal) helps them with revenge and lifting the curse that got Bale and Corbin in their current situtation.
I loved this one a lot. And it's a why choose, I mean, lucky, LUCKY gal. There are triggers, so be mindful.
Definitely recommend!
(I recieved this book as an ARC from the author at no cost, in return for a voluntary, honest review.)
Harlow is new to town and she is hiding a secret but it turns out she is in good company. This town has a curse on it and there is only way to end it.
During the Falk festival one person is tasked with going through the cursed corn maze. They only need to make it through and light a bonfire to not only complete it but to break the curse. Unfortunately there is a scarecrow shifter and a crowd shifter tasked with making sure that doesn't happen.
Harlow coming to town appears to be fate. She has never met another shifter and when she meets a crow shifter she hopes to fund out more information but instead finds her mate. Except she also finds herself wanting his friend who is a scarecrow shifter.
Now they need to work together to free the town and the two men from this curse. Unfortunately their only hope could also be their doom.
This book was so interesting. I love the conflicting characters all coming together. a scarecrow should repel the crow and the cat should try to take down the crow but instead it gets spicy.
I'm absolutely here for this series and I can't wait to see what the next town holds.
Dark, haunting, and utterly addictive, Chased by the Crows' Call is a sophisticated blend of small-town mystery, gothic atmosphere, and intense paranormal romance. Sadie masterfully introduces Harlow, a secret shapeshifter and book restorer who returns home only to confront the deadly, annual traditions of Falston. The world-building is rich and immersive, with the omnipresent crows and unsettling cornfields creating a vivid and genuinely creepy setting. This atmosphere is perfectly balanced by the electric chemistry between Harlow and her enigmatic counterpart, Bale. Their dynamic is fueled by palpable tension and temptation. This novel is beautifully written, utilizing dual points of view to deepen the characters' bond and heighten the stakes, which are both romantic and deadly. While a shorter read, the pacing is excellent, delivering a complex plot without feeling rushed. Highly recommended for readers who appreciate morally gray characters, high-tension suspense, and paranormal romance with a distinctly dark, unforgettable edge.
Chased by the Crow Call Author: Sadie Winchester Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
She has done it again ladies (and gentlemen). The Queen of cliffhangers definitely has done it again. This book was amazing had me asking so many questions. (But don’t worry you get your answer) In a story full of mystery and wonder we fall in line with a story of mystery. If you love fall and everything pumpkins and everything fall as to offer then you’ll love this. Corbin and Bale are two guys trapped in a cycle of repeat every fall. They want nothing more than to escape the hell that cursed them and this year is no exception. Except this year fall has graced them with a black cat named Harlow. She the new member of our tiny bumblef*** town (her words). And from the start everything seems a little off. In quest to find out what and why. Our little black cat is stronger than she gives herself credit for. This is a standalone book but it’s all part of a series (and I can’t wait for the rest). If you love shapeshifters, magic, and mystery then this book is for you.
This book gave me a couple first! I may or may not have been clutching my pearls throughout this book👀
Bale and Corbin are double the trouble but also twice the fun. From the very moment I met them, I knew they were going to be a handful 😉.
Harlow is a sassy and fierce cat shifter. She is also HILARIOUS and doesn’t take things to the heart when it comes to the guys. I just want to say that Harlow is a trooper in the way she handle the guys’ 🍆👀. That’s all I can really say!🤣
I enjoyed the plot and it was very eerie and interesting! From the beginning I wanted to see things burn. Some people in the story I couldn’t wait to see them get their karma. I do wish it was a little rougher for them, but I take what I can get lol.
I can check off scarecrow and crow shifters off my list now. I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest.
The town wronged them and it’s now time for things to change. Who better than to shake things up? The new girl in town❤️
I LOVED this Book! It pulled me in from start to finish. A delicious layer of mystery, magic, and spice that made it an addictive read. The suspense and tension throughout the story, and between the characters was Amazing 🔥 I loved the POVs, and absolutely adored their bond, and banter!
The way Sadie writes and describes every detail swept me Away. She creates a World that's impossible to not want to get lost in. I'll never look at a Scarecrow the same again 😏🖤
This was the perfect spooky, mystical, and magnetic read that left me only wanting more. I already can't wait to see what happens next! 🐦⬛✨️
Omg! My obsession with this book is sooo real! I love the characters so dang much! Each one of them are so unique and incredible!
Harlow is sassy as fk and I'm here for every single encounter with her. I mean I see a little bit of myself in her, if you know, you know lol. My sassiness is high too. So girlfriend go! Bring it on!
Corbin and Bale are THE BEST! Bale and his broodyness makes me melt everytime. His ohhh I hate you nonsense? Yeah whatever duuuudeeee. Liessss.
The twist? Amazinggggg! Those epilogue's? Incredible! Buuut guess what? The Queen of Cliffies has yet to change 🙄 it may not be huge, but its there and she likes to remind me, "it's an interconnected standalone." Woman. Welllll looks like I'm gonna need more because that minor little tidbit has me on the edge of my seat!
Chased by the Crows’ Call pulled me right into the eerie little town of Falston and didn’t let go. It’s dark, passionate, and full of that small-town mystery I love—especially since I grew up in one. Every cornfield feels like it’s hiding a secret.
Harlow, a book restorer and black cat shifter, moves to Falston looking for peace but instead gets caught in the town’s deadly corn maze chase. Between Bale, the scarecrow shifter leading it, and Corbin, the brooding crow shifter who knows too much, the tension and chemistry are off the charts.
The atmosphere is vivid, the banter crackles, and the story hits that perfect mix of gothic, emotional, and a little wicked. If you like your paranormal romance with danger, mystery, and heat—this one’s for you.
This is the perfect book for Halloween! It contains paranormal aspects, shapeshifters, and a cursed town. Everything in this book revolves around fall and Halloween.
Bale and Corbin are trapped in the town of Falston. Harlow and her family just moved to town. Harlow, Bale, and Corbin all have their own secrets. Will any of them survive past Halloween?
I was worried the book wouldn't wrap up in this book. It both does and doesn't. There's a promise of more adventures with more books planned on The Red Brick Road. Looking forward to the next book. I had so many questions and thoughts surrounding these characters.
“Mine. Do you understand me, Harlow? You’re mine. Not because I own you, but because you’re the place my spirit calls home.”
Thank you to Sadie Winchester for the opportunity to read this ARC.
Sadie you did it again first off I loved every single minute of the book and I kept craving more with every chapter… I loved Bale as much of a jerk he was to Harlow but we all knew it was a front he wants to hate her but he can’t and Corbin he’s such a sweetheart and just in awe his goofiness and sense of humor is what captures the hearts… I can see why Harlow can’t choose I mean I wouldn’t either.. the plot was soo good I forgot I was reading smut until when we got to the first scene wooooo talk about HOOOOTTTT and the Twins yuck gross even they gave me the creeps . I could talk about this book all day and as always Sadie must you break my heart I’m ready for book 2 like I need to know what happens next … so with that being said I suggest you go and grab your copy and read like I was lost in the story I felt I was there very easy to connect with the characters the plot and story
Thank you to the author for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
This was a quick yet satisfyingly spooky read! I never thought I’d encounter scarecrows quite like this—but here we are. I was pleasantly surprised by the humor and worldbuilding woven into such a short story.
This was my first book by this author, and it definitely won’t be my last. The pacing was tight, the plot engaging, and the characters stood out in the best way. I loved Harlow, with her snarky charm and humor; Corbin, the romantic, and Bale, the grumpy scarecrow with a surprisingly tender core. Their chemistry and development were so much fun to read.
It may be a short read, but it packed in plenty without ever feeling overwhelming. I’m definitely curious to see what happens next!
Have you ever read a shifter book featuring a cat, a scarecrow, and a crow? No? Then that needs to change NOW!
Sadie has written another wildly creative, beautifully chaotic story that pulled me in from page one. I fell in love with all three characters instantly. Corbin and Bale finding Harlow (or maybe it was her finding them) was exactly what this eerie little town needed.
Of course, Sadie tossed in her signature twists and spins, plus a perfectly little cliffhanger. But honestly, would we expect anything less from her?
This book is one that sticks with you. Mysterious, emotional, and totally unforgettable. Go grab your copy today and fall deep into the haunting charm of Falston!
I was a little confused at first with the time line of things but I figured it out later in the book when Harlow started poking around.
As much as I loved the way they all accepted each other, I wish Harlow was a little bit more feisty and pushed back a little more.
I was getting confused early on with who was who between Bale and Corbin and who shifted into what.
I did like how she sensed the boys would be allies over the other brothers and she ended up on the right side of things. Especially when it came to the witch.
I’m very excited to see how this series goes and what’s in store for book two.
I definitely didn’t miss the comment of Beth being a “Tabby”… was this an insight to something later?
“I couldn’t keep track of who was touching me where. It was beautifully chaotic and a blissful way to just let go.”
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5
Sadie Winchester deserves a damn throphy for this book once again, she never fails. This book is so so funny omg and not just funny but it keeps you so entertained that you cannot stop reading and let’s not talk about the slow burn 🙄. The chemistry between the characters is 🔥 and honestly you get desperate lol I almost curse out Sadie, i mean no I did curse her out cuz c’mon!!!
I love everything about this “short story” (compare to how wordy Mrs. Winchester is) 🤣🤭 and of course it wouldn’t be a Sadie Winchester’s book without a bit of cliff 🙄 I swear she lives up torturing her readers.
