Harlow

Falston, a farm town in the middle of nowhere, is now my new home. Sure, I can restore books from anywhere, but did my parents really need to buy a homestead surrounded by miles and miles of corn? One perk is the acres of land perfect for stretching my furry black legs. Oh, did I forget to mention I’m a shifter? Black cat, to be exact. And when my feline eyes catch sight of two of Falston’s most intriguing—and dangerously sexy—residents, I realize this town’s secrets run deeper than its roots.

Bale

Not all scarecrows have straw for brains. Some of us are snarky, recklessly handsome… and lethal under a full moon. Falston's annual corn maze chase takes place in my fields, and is the only thing that keeps me alive year after year. But when a little black kitty slips into my rows, I’ll have to decide if she’s worth saving—or if she’ll become just another victim of the hunt.

Corbin

The Council clipped my wings when they cursed me, binding me to an eternity in Falston and shackling me with its secrets. I know the truth about the town’s annual corn maze no one makes it out alive. But when I meet Harlow, the dangers lurking between those rows will only take a darker turn. In the end, the call of the crow may be her only chance at survival.

I was chosen to be able to read this as an ARC. This was my first Sadie Winchester book, and let me tell you, I'm hooked. Just the way Sadie writes is captivating. I was hook, line and sinker hooked on this. I will now forever be a Sadie Winchester fan. The way she writes captivates you and makes you feel like you're in the story watching everything unfold.

This book had a twist from the very beginning. This was my first shifter book and I'm not disappointed at all. Chased By The Crows Call follows the story of Bale and Corbin and their history with the Fall Festival in Falston. Harlow knew she was different. People always thought she was weird for loving old books and restoring them back to their original glory. But deep down she knew she had to keep part of herself a secret. When she moves to the small country town of Falston, everything changes. When she finds herself in the basement of the library where the archives are, she learns a little more about the two seemingly different men she just met. She realizes that Bale and Corban know she's different. Could she be the one they've been waiting for? Could she be the one that saves them and the town? Or will she be the destruction of the town's two outcasts that the Town Council has been secretly plotting? Read Chased By The Crows Call to find out! If you're anything like me you will devour this and won't be able to put it down!

Dark, haunting, and addictive — this book hooked me from the very first page.

Chased by the Crows’ Call is a chilling blend of small-town mystery, supernatural danger, and forbidden romance. Harlow, a book restorer and secret shapeshifter, returns to her family’s homestead looking for peace but instead finds herself pulled into the eerie traditions of Falston — a town where no one survives the annual chase.

The atmosphere is vivid and unsettling in the best way. The cornfields, the whispers, the crows — everything feels alive and dangerous. The chemistry between Harlow and Bale is electric, equal parts tension and temptation, while the deeper lore surrounding the town adds layers of suspense that kept me guessing until the end.

It’s dark, emotional, and beautifully written. The world-building feels rich and immersive, and the stakes are real — both romantic and deadly. If you love paranormal romance with a gothic edge, morally gray characters, and a heroine who learns to embrace her power, this one deserves a spot on your shelf.

Final thoughts:
Creepy, passionate, and unforgettable — the perfect read for anyone who loves their romance with a side of danger and mystery.

Dark, haunting, and utterly addictive, Chased by the Crows' Call is a sophisticated blend of small-town mystery, gothic atmosphere, and intense paranormal romance.
Sadie masterfully introduces Harlow, a secret shapeshifter and book restorer who returns home only to confront the deadly, annual traditions of Falston. The world-building is rich and immersive, with the omnipresent crows and unsettling cornfields creating a vivid and genuinely creepy setting. This atmosphere is perfectly balanced by the electric chemistry between Harlow and her enigmatic counterpart, Bale. Their dynamic is fueled by palpable tension and temptation.
This novel is beautifully written, utilizing dual points of view to deepen the characters' bond and heighten the stakes, which are both romantic and deadly. While a shorter read, the pacing is excellent, delivering a complex plot without feeling rushed. Highly recommended for readers who appreciate morally gray characters, high-tension suspense, and paranormal romance with a distinctly dark, unforgettable edge.

I LOVED this Book! It pulled me in from start to finish. A delicious layer of mystery, magic, and spice that made it an addictive read. The suspense and tension throughout the story, and between the characters was Amazing 🔥 I loved the POVs, and absolutely adored their bond, and banter!

The way Sadie writes and describes every detail swept me Away. She creates a World that's impossible to not want to get lost in. I'll never look at a Scarecrow the same again 😏🖤

This was the perfect spooky, mystical, and magnetic read that left me only wanting more. I already can't wait to see what happens next! 🐦‍⬛✨️

Arc Review

4.5 ⭐ 3.6 🌶

This was a great atmosphere read, perfect for the season! I loved the main characters and how they fit together, we had a little of everything in their personalities but they truly felt like the perfect fit. Add in a pinch of cultish secret society feels, witchy curses, and shifters, and it's a heck of a twisty turny maze through the corn field!

It's a shorter read, but it doesn't make you feel like you are left lacking any details, nor does it leave the plot to suffer. It's not a wizard of oz retelling, but you can definitely see where it's coming from. I can't wait for the next in the series!!

Tropes included but not limited to:
MMF Why Choose- Grumpy x Golden Retriever x Black cat😉
Fated Mates
Enemies to Lovers
He falls first
Insta love
Dual POV (3)
Primal play / Dub-con
Shifters

Omg! My obsession with this book is sooo real! I love the characters so dang much! Each one of them are so unique and incredible!

Harlow is sassy as fk and I'm here for every single encounter with her. I mean I see a little bit of myself in her, if you know, you know lol. My sassiness is high too. So girlfriend go! Bring it on!

Corbin and Bale are THE BEST! Bale and his broodyness makes me melt everytime. His ohhh I hate you nonsense? Yeah whatever duuuudeeee. Liessss.

The twist? Amazinggggg! Those epilogue's? Incredible! Buuut guess what? The Queen of Cliffies has yet to change 🙄 it may not be huge, but its there and she likes to remind me, "it's an interconnected standalone." Woman. Welllll looks like I'm gonna need more because that minor little tidbit has me on the edge of my seat!

Oh my gosh! Sadie you are absolutely brilliant. Dark, haunting and full of secrets, I loved every second of Chased by the Crow's Call. I didn't want it to end and when it did, that ending had me in shock. Bale though, he is by far one of my favorites and Corbin is right up there. Harlow is one lucky gal.

The small town secrets just keep getting more interesting by the page and just when I thought I had some answers, that ending threw me for a loop.

I love Sadie's writing so much and I knew that I would love this one as well.

This book was AMAZING!! Sadie never fails! This story of love, passion, redemption, and even a little secret society had me hooked from the beginning. Seeing what Bale and Corbin had gone through over 100 years of living with their curse was heartbreaking. In come Harlow, Corbin is sure that she is one mate. Bale takes some convincing, but he finally stops lying to himself and lets himself feel. The bond they all have together is amazing. The end I wasn't expecting, but it makes so much sense! I can't wait for the rest of this series!

Dark, passionate, and hauntingly beautiful.
Chased by the Crows’ Call pulled me in from the first page. Harlow’s return to Falston isn’t just about facing the town’s eerie traditions — it’s about finding love in the one place she thought she’d lost herself.

The chemistry between Harlow and Bale is electric — dangerous, tender, and impossible to resist. Their connection burns through the shadows of this gothic, mysterious world.

Final thoughts:
A captivating mix of love, danger, and fate — the kind of story that steals your breath and stays in your heart.

Another great spooky season vibe for your October reading pleasure. It’s got some small town lore, creepy corn fields that whisper in the night. The characters are uniquely crafted and just so clever I found the whole story really clever, not your typical dark paranormal shifter stuff. There is a good plot the pace is suspense and exciting. The spice and tension between Harlow and Bale …. Well it’s good the whole thing is good and I don’t want to spoil too much so just add it to your TBR you won’t be sorry.

Sadie amazed me at every turn of books she writes, I definitely give this book a five star rating
I did get upset when Bale and Corbin got stuck in the maze I thought everything the men been through to not get out the maze. Harlow was strong willed and that was just what the town needed to finish this cursed town. I AM so excited to read book 2 in this series. I honestly thought when sadie put one year later that Harlow had Bales baby and the guys was lost forever BOY was I all wrong. It's a sit on the edge of your sit kinda book. you definitely want be disappointed.

I love all of Sadie Winchesters books and this one is no different.
This one is a dark paranormal quick read and I won't give too much away, you need to read to find out.
But the characters are Corbin and Bale and Harlow.
They all have fun times together too.
It is sexy, thrilling, and suspenseful. Ends on a bit of a cliffhanger but there will be more in this series.

Oh My Sadie! You have done it yet again. This is my third book of Sadie Winchester. The dark secretive fated mates love story kept my attention and had me desperately wanting more. What really happened in Falston? I really want to know more about the curse that was placed within the town and the back story of it all. Who was that witchy lady? And that ending?! What is the red brick road? So many questions left unanswered. Can’t wait to see what the next book has in store for us.

I was not expecting to cry for this spicy spooky tale, but I did I fell absolutely in love with Bale, Corbin and Harlow and was rooting for them the entire time. I’m so happy they got the happiest of endings in the end and seeing Bale and Corbin free from the trauma they had been living was phenomenal!

I loved the horror aspect without gory details. The spicy details, however, were top notch!
