Feeling the Heat: Part Two

Rate this book
She never wanted a pack, so why does losing them hurt so bad?

Blindsided by betrayal, Camille finds herself jobless and packless at age forty. The fairy tale life she allowed herself to dream about is gone, a foolish mistake she knew better than to make. She thinks she’s hit rock bottom, but things only get worse when a malicious article about her “old omega” status goes viral.

Pack fractured and heartbroken after losing their potential omega, Jackson, Ambrose, and River try to respect Camille’s wishes and stay away. But when they find out about the article, they can’t let her go through that nightmare alone.

Will Camille’s new infamy allow them to mend their bonds and prove that they can be the pack she needs, or will threats looming at the edges of her life tear them apart for good?

Feeling the Heat: Part Two is a why choose, later-in-life MMMF omegaverse romance that concludes the story of Feeling the Heat: Part One. Expect high-heat spice, romance between all members of the pack, heightened stakes, and a well-deserved HEA.

Part of the Blossomverse Omegaverse co-created by Allegra Hall and Emily Antoinette.

Emily loves cozy, emotional, and spicy romances with a monstrous twist. When she isn’t musing on the merits of doting, dominant monsters, she reads an obscene amount of romance novels, and cultivates her eccentric recluse persona.

ARC review
Emily had me crying right off the bat with this. Which wasn’t surprising, given that I spent a lot of book one crying. Each of the main characters had their own growth arcs, both as part of the pack, and on their own. Camille had to learn how to embrace her instincts and take risks. Jackson had to learn how to see himself as valuable. River had to work on breaking down his emotional walls and seeing himself as worthy of love and kindness. I loved his therapy journey. Ambrose became a bit more outspoken with his needs and desires. It was a very sweet Omegaverse story.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: stalking (not by MCs), kidnapping, attempted SA, brief physical assault, sexual harassment, domestic violence (side character), doxxing and social media dragging, anxiety, feelings of inadequacy, jealousy and suppressing emotions, ageism (not by MCs), misogyny, designation based discrimination, body image issues, parental neglect (past), cult-like upbringing, emotional abuse (not by MCs), brief pet illness, unemployment

Review for the duet: Feeling the Heat is definitely a quality omegaverse story and I'm certain lots of people would enjoy this duet. I found the characters to be just a little neurotic for my exact taste. If you want a "realistic" omegaverse book or really like books with negotiating relationship dynamics, this will work for you. Again, I did enjoy this story, but it's a 4 star that I would most likely not reread.

Can I just say omggg!! Im obsessed!!
I kinda wish there was more, but this is the perfect way wrap up the story! 🥰 I devoured this book!

Don't tell any of the boys but River is my favorite 😉 he js broody, sweet, protective Alpha that I want to bring everywhere with me!

Jackson is the sweetest beta you'll ever meet! Him struggling with who he is attracted to makes it so cute!!

Ambrose is Daddy! I would call him Daddy any chance i got lol 😆 he just a squishy sweet alpha!

Camille i feel bad for at the end of part one cause she was so confused what was going on. Her omega was just trying figure things out and guide her the right way. Im so glad the guys kept trying and being there for her!

I am so happy they got their happy ending!

I really enjoyed this duet. I loved all the characters and the conclusion. For this to be the author’s debut to Omegaverse, they really hit it out the park. I can’t wait to read what else she writes in OV.

4 ⭐️ The first omegaverse by Emily Antoinette is...

...actually not bad at all. Especially this second part. We leave the first one with a weird dynamic / falling out of the pack, and I really didn't love that. I still maintain that this could have genuinely been one single book - an extremely LONG book, mind you. But after all, I think this second part may be worth the hassle.

As much as I loooooove Jackson -the incredible, unbelievable, gorgeous, talented man that he is-, his change of pace with the rest of the men in his pack could have come earlier in the book, and been better explored. Also, River getting his head out of his ass was cute, but I feel like his character didn't make as much sense in the story without that martyr complex of his making a real relationship impossible. Once that particular hurdle was done, it was like he feel back into the sidelines, but this time more because he maybe didn't feel comfortable or trust that the pack could florish with him in it - even though he is the only one with a proper bond with every single member of the pack! Idk, but by the end, I still didn't fully like River. Maybe that's a me thing, idk. Ambrose is cute and lovely and very much Daddy, but we see him more in his dynamic with River which I think was good, too.

Now, on to my favourite and my least favourite parts of this book, and they both kind of happen at the same time, or maybe one as a result of the other? My favourite is the fact that the only beta in the pack ends up being the pack lead. I have read SO many Omegaverses, and none have ever made any of the pack betas their pack lead, but I adored it. It made so much sense in this specific pack, the way that they discover it is also pretty cool. But the whole thing happens - as I said- during my least favourite scene of the entire two-part story. It's kind of the big "shock" -that eveyone saw coming- but I was really rooting for all the clear signs to maybe be a missdirect and take us somewhere else. But the second Cami's sister said "I'm sorry" during that phone call, I knew exactly where we were going, and how much I was going to hate it. Newsflash, it was actually worst than I thought!

Since most of these happen around the 90% mark, the rest of the book goes by so fast that there was really barely any time to adjust. The awful scenes are short-lived in comparison to the entirety of the story, but they still feel so disappointing. Along with the fact that Cami flops herself HARD on this one, and cannot get it together to save her life -because you can be an Omega without being a crybaby, depressed mess and I really do believe that!- are the reasons why I can't give this book more than 4 stars. I also didn't like that we saw no male omegas!

Overall, it's a good first attempt, and I do hope the author keeps it going with other proyects like this in the future - because I am both obsessed with Emily Antoinnete as an author, and with omegaverse stories as a whole, so this was kind of a dream come true!

⭐️✨This is the poly romance of my dreams. ✨⭐️

This is not a reverse harem, this book beautifully depicts with healthy, fluid, and dynamic polyamorous relationships can look like. I’m so glad that we are getting some amazing representation here.

I’m seeing a lot of mixed reviews, overall the story is brilliant. I particularly love this Storey and all of Emily’s books because she focuses on her characters. As other people have commented, there’s not a lot of super crazy plot twists, which I really like. I’m reading this romance/smut book for comfort and to see loving relationships. Not for the end of the world catastrophic storytelling. - I love having books like this because it gives us something to look forward to, and maybe how we can bring the best of our ourselves out in the real world.

Overall, 10 out of 10 stars. It’s SUPER explicit. We’ll probably end up reading this again within the next year.

I thought book one was amazing but book two was up another level! The way they all came back together in a way that was slow by gave you the feeling of slow burn was excellent. The villain was not what I expected AT ALL! What a perfect end to this story of Pack Clairmont ❤️

⤷ Oh My Gosh! I absolutely devoured this duet, and this was chef’s kiss! The character development, romance, and spice delivered for me. We got to see the development of each character and their navigation of the changing of their relationship dynamic as flawed beings working together to better themselves and each other. The vibes of this duet are a mix of cozy, emotions, steamy, and a dash of angst.
⤷If you love books with character growth, unforgettable chemistry, and a couple that will make you scream, like me, “just kiss already” with a sweet tension building slow burn, I recommend diving headfirst into this duet!

ugh, this book and duet were so good. Camille must deal with the aftermath of losing her job, no one wanting to hire her because of the Alpha Net article, and no longer having a pack. but even if Cami thinks that the pack no longer wants to court her, it doesn’t mean people aren’t in her corner, including her pack.

there’s so much healing and communication the pack goes through individually and together. AND THE SPICE 🥵🥵🥵 individual scenes and also the group scenes 🥵 the dirty talk from all the men. and who needs an alpha knot when you’ve a beta with a fist 😏😜

Part two of the duet, where we finally get a happily ever after (HEA) after the cliffhanger at the end of the last book. Don’t read this book unless you’ve read part one.

This books picks up a couple months after the last book ends, and everyone is worse off for the miscommunication trope. Camille is split from the pack and looking for a job, River quit his job and moved out, and Ambrose and Jackson are trying to hold things together and support each other. Most of this book is spend working to rebuild the fragile trust between the four, plus some bi-awakening for Jackson and Cami dealing with some alpha-hole nonsense.

This duet spends a lot of time with character development, especially as Cami presents as an omega later in life and doesn’t understand/trust her own instincts yet. Given the broken trust at the end of part one, getting back together is a slow and measured process. The result is what feels like a slowburn romance, even though there are spicy scenes as Cami experiences heat spikes.

I’m not one for slowburn romance (though insta-love isn’t for me either), so this duet didn’t really hit the sweet spot for me as it the relationships were really slow to reach maturity. It’s nice to see an omegaverse with a scent match that proceeds at a slow pace, but I’m not patient enough for that pace to be two books.

This wasn’t a bad duet, but you should know that it’s heavier on character development. The good news is that the most frustrating character goes to therapy to make himself better (I love that in a book). If you like omegaverse, this is a solid offering.

This started after the ending of Book I. I hate that trope so it already started off in a sort of negative space. I was actually quite irritated at Camille the first part of this book. Yes she's an omega but I didn't feel like she took much agency for her actions. I'm sure some of that can be laid at the feet of designation, however we get amazing examples of other omegas who are not like that. Sure there is a period of adjustment but I felt like she just gave up all agency and doesn't try. I was not feeling sorry for her at all. The men kept trying to communicate with her, but she cut them out. For me, for a 40 year old, that was a bummer. She was acting more like she was 20. The first book was really good with her maturity and level of practicalness. Totally relatable.

I felt like the middle was a bit slow without much happening. I loved the legal pieces and wanted more of that - and I wanted way more exploration of the plot line of because that would have provided better tension. It was too periphery for me and overtaken by the heat spikes and smut. The smut was fine - though, after the build up, I wanted more of .

Overall I did enjoy the series and will continue with it and look for other books from the author. It was still quite a bit above many other Omegaverse - though I'd exchange some of the smut for better plot development of that side plot because how the guys handled it was chef's kiss.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I received a copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review. All opinions are my own.

Becoming an omega wasn’t on her birthday list.
Neither was meeting a pack that turns her life upside down.

This was the PERFECT conclusion to this duet. I am truly obsessed with all of these characters and the growth that they all went through. River learning how to deal with his emotions correctly and feel okay asking for help and actually talking instead of holding everything in. It was perfect, and I loved how hard he tried to become a better person. I also really loved Jackson’s story and his coming to terms with the fact that he may actually have feelings for Ambrose and River. I truly loved that plotline; it was so sweet, and it was so nice to see him come to accept this part of himself. AND AMBROSE, oh my god, I am in love with that man on a whole new level. He is a top-tier man. This was truly a perfect OV duet, and I am genuinely obsessed with every character; they balance each other out perfectly.

I really hope Emily Antoinette continues writing omegaverse, because the way she pulls at your heartstrings and makes all the characters so different yet perfect for each other is absolutely amazing. She really knocked it out of the park with this one.

Oh, also, Dolly is still my favorite character, thanks.

The Lovely: I loved the second chance aspect of part two of this duet. The MMCs were so perfect (for her) but actually flawed and complicated themselves. Not only are their relationships with the FMC developing but their relationships with each other are changing as well.

Also Lovely: I also loved that the main characters are a little older. As a reader in my 40s this felt more relatable and I appreciated the differing dynamics that brought.

Recommendation: While the ending of part one was less of a cliff and more of a super sad intermission, I was genuinely curious as to how the FMC and the pack would come back from what happened. I loved how the duet ended and will definitely be reading more from this author.

This was much more emotional for me then part one was. I was SOBBING at the end of book one and begging for part two to come sooner. Luckily Emily heard my pleas and got this to us super fast. I will forever be thankful that I didn’t have to wait months and months for a part two. I wouldn’t have survived a long break like that. The big focus in this book was each individuals healing journey, it eventually brings them together in a pack thats unbreakable in the end. They all had to face so much on their own and together. It’s a message of hope, people can change, overcome, adapt, whatever it is it’s possible. Camile learns how to embrace her instincts and take risks. River manages to break down his emotional walls, the big scary alpha finally realizes he's worthy of love, he can accept all the love they keep trying to give him. Jackson sees the value in himself, his confidence grows in a beautiful way. Ambrose becomes more confident in vocalizing his needs, wants, and desires. It’s just such a rich emotional story. I felt so lucky to get my hands on this and be able to emotionally and mentally go on this journey with them. Thank you Emily.

So happy I got my hands on this! i was salivating for it as soon as I finished part 1 and had to wait.

My only real complaints with part 2 are minimal. For starters, i feel like we still needed more connection between Camille and River, especially since they were the ones surpassing hurdles. We see more connection between Camille and Ambrose than with her and River, and then even more so you can see the deep connection she has and grows even more with Jackson... so something more substantial with River would have been nice. I found that the plot was quite predictable when it came to the main conflict as well, like i could guess exactly how it would play out right from the end of part 1, so there was no plot twist or anything in that regard. I think that not much actually happened in the book plot wise for it to be 400 pages... like if all the characters dove deeper into their connection and interacted more or something then that would've accounted for it better, but as it stands it felt quite long for how minimal there was that happened in it.

Over all though I did enjoy the book, and the duet as a whole was great.

An obsessed beta, daddy alpha, and a dom alpha with their sweet soft submissive omega. What more could you ask for? O wait for everyone to get their heads out of their asses? Well we definitely got that and so much more.

I'm saying this with all the love because part one left us on such a cliffhanger. Made you just want to whoop everyone over the head.

I loved and hurt with River as he went on his healing journey. Jackson finally accepting ALL of he feelings. Camille being so damn brave in so many ways. And our lovely daddy Ambrose being that solid support for everyone throughout. Let's not forget our little Dolly. Really hope she do get a sister!

This gives all of the spice while giving you that plot that keeps it moving. But that picnic table 😉 and of course that heat 🥵. I wouldn't mind an extended epilogue from these four 😆

Now the question is who is next? The sister Megan? Or maybe one of Camille's new co-workers? Guess we just gonna have to keep reading to find out.

This was such a cute and wonderful ending to this duet. This duet was my true into to Emily Antoinette and I am truly in love. Reading Camille's journey was just so cathartic and beautiful.

It was nice to see these guys get their crap together lol. The miscommunication at the end of book one had my anxiety pinging all over the place! My little heart very much appreciated seeing things get resolved.

I'll say, I felt like Ambrose (ahem, Daddy) was my number one guy in book one (and please know I have big love for River), but Jackson had my heart and soul in book two. I loved seeing the growth he went through as well with the pack. It felt like we were on this journey of self acceptance and self love with him and it was a joy to read.

This book has all the feels, and words really can't to justice to how much I enjoyed reading it. Emily knows how to touch my heartstrings so perfectly. My only hope is she gives us more OMV in the future (I mean I'm willing to read anything she writes at this point but I do love a good OMV).

Emily Antoinette's foray into omegaverse romances is a success!

On the night of her 40th birthday, Camille goes into heat. Her first heat. After spending her life believing herself a beta because she never revealed as an omega, things are about to change. Rushed to the heat clinic for help, Camille meets the sexy silver fox, Ambrose and the golden retriever heat minder, Jackson. These three fall for one another in spite of their auspicious beginnings and invite Camille to join their pack. The only problem? Their other pack member is Camille's boss, River, who she believes cannot stand her.

Antoinette writes a spicy omegaverse that doubles as a commentary on gender rights and activism. Jackson's bi-awakening was one of my favorite arcs of this story. River's grovel was also well done and dragged out. I appreciated that he wasn't immediately forgiven by any of his pack members.

You can expect some dom-sub and switch dynamics, lots of knots, some public shenanigans, and some age gaps. Definitely a worthwhile read!

Great conclusion to the duet! What a fantastic intro to Omegaverse! This series is cozy with a little bit of angst and conflict both within the pack and from outside factors. There is a lot of open communication between the pack members because there has to be if they are going to move forward after the end of the last book.

There is a wonderful bi awakening that was expressed and handled well while felling authentic to the characters.

The HEA is so nice and well fought for and deserved. I really loved the characters after 800+ pages with them all and although the plot centers around Camille we get a good amount of what the boys are thinking to satisfy the curiosity and know them as well (more River in this book which is wonderful).

The spice is detailed and we get multi POVs and lots of feelings and different attitudes and 1:1s and group scenes. This is a master class in spice in my opinion. LOVED it!

I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I cried some more, and I feel further in love with this pack. Emily Antionette has made something truly perfect here.
Camille, my precious lady. She’s been through so much, and she came out the other side stronger, sure, but she deserves everything good, because she is everything good.
I’m head over heels for River. Seeing him so vulnerable really did something to me. His obsession with Camille is top tier, and he’s ridiculously good at groveling ( and dirty talk).
Jackson remains a sweet baby angel, and I loved going on his self discovery journey. He’s a beam of brightness when everything is dark for the pack.
Ambrose is such a solid presence in their lives. He’s exactly what they all need, and they’re perfect for him, too.
I was pretty sure I had sussed out the drama of it all, but I was still surprised by a few things. I really liked the way everything wrapped up in the end of this duet.

This duet seriously was so good and i devoured both books so quickly. I absolutely ADORED the characters. I was invested from the start and then with their entire journeys.

River's growth in this book was absolutely amazing. I literally cried so many times listening to him worth through his trauma and try and succeed at being a better alpha for his pack.

Ambrose was perfection as always, and it was so nice to watch him be a big part of the glue holding everyone together.

My sweet bi baby Jackson was just, amazing. I loved watching his bi awakening, and seeing him be appreciated and loved. I do wish we got more page time with his bi awakening. I really wanted to see a good solo moment with him and Ambrose. And where was his first time??? God I wanted to see that SO BAD.

All in all, this is a fan-freaking-tastic little duet and I highly recommend it to anyone that loves omegaverse and/or why choose!

✨ARC REVIEW✨

Emily is such a master of writing 🥵🥵🥵 I swear, she could make me like any combination of people/creatures!

This is the second book in an omergaverse series and although it has a wonderful plot too, there are sections that are just 50 pages of pure $mut 😂😅 I loved it!!

I still believe that Omegas are just autistic 🤷‍♀️ They are sensitive to lights, sounds, smells, and textures. They love soft things and to be cozy. Work environments are difficult as they get overstimulated easily. And people are NOT accommodating of their needs. As an autistic person myself, I find this very relatable. Plus I def have my own nest 🤣

Love it! One of my new favorite omegaverse. I adore this pack. I could read 5 more books following them around.

I want to see how far River comes in his therapy and how it affects his Dominant self.

I want a whole “heat” to focus on Jackson and have the rest of the pack really focus on him and his sexual identity exploration. I want him to get fucked! (Trust me he wants it too)

I want more daddy Ambrose dolling out some naughty praise and punishments…also being River and Camille’s slutty little toy.

I want to see more Camille really coming into her own as an omega and in her career and exploring more of her mixing with the guys in other ways.

This part 2 really starts with a bang…literally her and River at the party…wow that was hot!

Jackson and Ambrose leaning on each other while River and Camille were gone licking their wounds.

Fisting, knotting and DP oh my!

“If we threw away everything that was slightly imperfect, we’d all be in the garbage.” 💕

I loved this book!! What a beautiful conclusion to this duology!! I didn’t think I could love these characters more, but I was quickly proven wrong. Their personal journeys showed they were all capable of immense growth, acceptance and unbreakable love not only for each other, but themselves. ❤️

Things are up in the air for Camille. After being fired from her job, and her pack falling apart, she is struggling to get her life back together. Ambrose, Jackson and River, however, are determined to show Camille they can be the pack she deserves and how incredible a person she is. 🩷

Sorta boring despite the spice.
The MM was also done in a way that made it so the FMC was almost intruding.

Other than that, it’s just mundane days, time jumps, and flashes of very real threats that they dismiss, like they’re auditioning to be the characters you yell at in scary movies.
I wanted to strangle them, and they probably would’ve let me.
Maybe even corrected my form for optimal attack.

And then!
While she’s being the biggest dumbass alive, placing herself in obvious danger, we’re meant to focus on burgeoning sexuality developments within the men.
I would normally be bored, we all saw it coming, but now I was anxiously frustrated the longer it dragged on.
Hellllooo?!
We’ve got a bit of a situation!!

Jackson saved what remained of the book.
Funny, insightful, and a good meditator to keep everything on track.
The stars are only for his contribution.

This is by far my favorite Omegaverse read. Book two continues on with the late presenting Omega Camille. She just turned 40 and everything that’s happening is brand new to her. She has been thinking she was a beta this whole time so she’s stuck in her ways. It’s hard to figure out if it’s her Omega or her wanting things a certain way. Her guys are trying to find their way back to her after a big misunderstanding. The very one that got her fired. Media attention makes it hard on top of heat spikes make Camille want to hide in her nest. With the help of friends, new and old, they arrange for her guys to secretly meet with her at an event. Not only do you get heat with this book but you get laughs galore. It’s nice to read a book about people older than early twenties, not that I don’t like those too. I hope you fall in love with this as I did!
