Wicked Sinner

It was only supposed to be one night. Now I’m a captive in the penthouse of a mafia heir.

When Caesar Genovese showed up at my garage in the middle of the night, I didn’t know who he was or that one blown fuse would change my life.

One passionate, mind-blowing night and I never planned to see him again.

Then I found out I’m pregnant with his child.

I thought I could keep it a secret, but I was wrong. Now he’s taken me, locked me in his penthouse and refuses to let me go.

Caesar says marriage is the only way to protect me and our baby from the enemies that want his blood. But his world is nothing like mine. His is power and violence. Blood and betrayal.

I swore I wouldn’t be pulled into it, no matter how much I crave him. No matter how much he tempts me to surrender for one more night… and every night after.

I wasn’t innocent when he took me. But I’m no sinner like him.

DNFd at 62%

The first 200 pages they had the same conversation over and over and over again. The next 100 the FMC was just insufferable, literally she was horrible.

It also felt like there was no actual chemistry between the main characters

Caught between power and desire, in order to reclaim his rightful place in the mafia hierarchy, Caesar is expected to marry a well connected socialite and secure his family’s influence. But everything changes after a fateful night with Bridget who fixes his car in exchange for a piece of his heart. What was meant to be a fleeting encounter leaves them bound together forever when Bridget discovers she’s pregnant. For Caesar, it’s the perfect excuse to claim her as his. But as love and loyalty conflict with each other, he’s forced to ask himself whether one night is enough to build a forever.

“I protect what’s mine, and you’re mine now.”

In my last review for Bloody Vows, I kinda complained about not loving the MMC Tristian too much and preferring a kinder or less overbearing man. And BOY did M James come through!

Caesar is a man written for the female gaze, he had no business being SO perfect but he was just that. What I loved most about him was that despite being expected to be the heavy handed mafia boss that forces his partner into submission (as we see time and time again in mafia romances), he fails at every initial attempt cause he’s just not that kind of man. Caesar is soft, witty, patient, and kind in every way, man I really adored him. Even his development arc was so satisfying because he starts out as this cautious and callous guy but grows into an emotionally intelligent king…I wanna hug M James for creating him…please please please keep writing men like him. He truly won my heart with his gentle and loving nature, always meaning and being well intentioned. I’ve got to stop talking about him cause I can just rave on for this entire review.

And Bridget was a very complex and dynamic character because I appreciated how strong willed she was. She was feisty, empowered, and yet so vulnerable and real. Yes some people may feel that she was wrong for not giving into Caesar’s patient ways but think of it from a real perspective, wouldn’t you also be stubborn if a man you haven’t truly developed feelings for yet (apart from physical chemistry) kidnaps and holds you in his home? I appreciated her for who she was and I loved that she inspired Caesar to be a better man for her.

“He sees me as perfect, even knowing my flaws.”

I read a lot of mafia romances, but it’s rare for one to hit me so hard that I instantly want to reread it. This book absolutely did. I just felt so happy, so tingly while reading Caesar and Bridget fall in love, growing as both individuals and together as partners. The yearning in this book was just top tier, my man was a boundary respecting king and his queen was perfect in every way. I’ve read so many books at this point from this author and I really admire how the writing has grown and flourished into characters that really stay with you beyond the final page.

Another great read from this author
Caesar has come back to Miami to claim his place as head of the Genovese family following the death of his father. This doesn't go down well with the head of all the families, Konstantin Abramov. He's insisting that Caesar marries one of the families daughters to forge an alliance. Unfortunately, Caesar has already met who he wants - Bridget Lewis, a no connections to anyone, mechanic. Even more unfortunately, she's not interested in anything other than the one night they spent together. So he kidnaps her. The story revolves around him trying, and failing, to win her over. How, and what can he do, to succeed? Great characters and plotline made this a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Such a brilliant book! Caesar and Bridget were so fiesty. The banter between these two was so fun to read i think i enjoyed that the most.

This is about Mechanic Bridget Lewis who had a brief encounter with Mafia Don Caesar Genevose who then decides he won't let her go.

So much drama, action and even suspense. Bridget has a lot to learn about the Mafia lifestyle and isn't as excited to be pulled into that world. But Caesar being the protective, possessive being that he is, isn't offering an option.

I really liked the matchmaking scene that he had to go through as well as the meetings with Konstantin and Tristan. I could feel how at odds he was worth the whole situation.

Beautifully put together. These characters built the story on their own making them come alive. And this plot, just Wow. So good!

A perfect Mafia story for me and highly recommended!
