Rate this book

Achieve a life of balance with Karma Yeshe Rabgye’s eye-opening new book, Life’s Meandering Path.

The thirty-eight principles set forth, based on the teachings of Gautama Buddha, comprise a basic guide to living for anyone seeking peace and harmony.

The value of such qualities as individual responsibility, rational thought and the fulfillment of social obligations are discussed—as well as exactly how to implement each of these principles into one’s daily life.

It is not uncommon to experience a sense of fear or uncertainty in the oftentimes frantic, fast-paced world in which we live. But it is possible to move beyond those obstacles and that feeling of being overwhelmed, into a state where happiness and a lack of suffering dominate.

Learn how to juggle individual challenges, family obligations, social responsibility and personal growth while maintaining a vital sense of balance in the midst of a chaotic world.

All of this is possible without needing to call oneself a Buddhist or Christian or Muslim. Regardless of religion or faith, readers will learn how to achieve some much needed peace in this enriching guide to life.

An excellent overview of Buddhist teachings successfully divorced from rituals and beliefs. Writer Karma Yeshe Rabgye focuses solely on the practical core of Buddhism and has written a book that can be of value to anybody, regardless of their culture or existing religious beliefs.

If there is criticism that I could levy against this book it would be that it is not something one can simply pick up, read, and walk away from. Mr. Rabgye implores the reader to regularly reflect on what is being conveyed and the book is intended more as a project than something you merely read. I chalk that up to Rabgye genuinely intending to help as many people as possible with his work. Ultimately, the level of personal participation falls to the reader, but those that are willing to make this book a long term project that they pick at over a longer period of time will get the most from the text. Those who just want an academic overview of Buddhist thought and philosophy will still find much of value here but will reap fewer benifits than those willing to participate in Rabgye's exercises and guided reflections.

Excellent teachings of Buddha and the eightfold path

This book introduces the reader to 38 teachings of the Buddha. Many topics are covered which help the reader explore their relationship with Buddhism.

The most down to earth Buddhist teaching that completely allows for applying the philosophy to modern living. The monk enforces the fact he is a teacher, not a Guru - very realistic and relatable!

An impeccable consecutive to Guiding with Sid and Ragbye

Life’s Meandering Path was an excellent portrayal of how to follow Gautama Buddha’s teachings along the eightfold path. I enjoyed his first book “How to Catch a Snake”as well, but found this one even more simplistic and informative on actual practice. Looking forward to more from Ragbye!

Worthwhile but difficault

This book is quite valuable and his advice for a daily review and reflection is worthy of action. I have it 4, rather than 5 stars because I found it to be a difficult read and suspect that many readers will not finish it.

It is a comprehensive study of the Mangala Sutra. The trouble is that it could have been a shorter book without loss. I'm glad that I read it and plan to print out a concise Mangala Sutra for reflection on my own actions.

A bit too wordy, but worthwhile.
